    Water Temp: still cold

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: beat the sun out there, perfect morning, windless, still needed the long johns. fished all morningwith plastics & buddy threw spinner baits & cranks without any hits, tried dry & warm spings, finally about 11 hooked into a 2 pounder just outside of warm springs on a yamamoto black cut tail, just a single tap worked super slow. then the rain came in & that was it. hid for awhile & tried again, this time without anymore hits, started to rain again & headed home!
    City: san mateo

Tips: wait til it warms up a bit & wait til the weather stabilizes.

    Water Temp: 50

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Fished the 1st Sonoma County Belly Boat Bass Club tournament of the year out of Yorty Creek. Ended up with 7 bites and was lucky enough to put them all in the float tube. 3 smaller fish on a dropshot in about 15 feet of water. The other 4 fish came on 3/4 ounce jigs in around 30 feet. Ended up with the best 5 going 20.02lbs. All the fish were on points except one small dropshot fish near the ramp on riprap. Very tough day in windy, rainy, cold stained water.
    City: Penngrove

Tips: Jigs deep (30ft) for bigger fish. Dropshot for keepers (10-20ft). Main points into spawning areas. This bite will only last a few more weeks before the fish start to move shallow and farther back into spawning areas.

    Water Temp: 49-53

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Beautiful day lousy fishing. Nice to be in the lake but we did not figure it out. Tiger is always good for a few nice ones no matter what the conditions, but today was not that kind of day. Started out in cherry trying drop offs and points as well as flats. Plastic, crank baits, spinner baits, t-rig, drop shot all zippo. Did find one, apparently he was lost from all the others, fish in the south end. 2.1lb t-rig. Others in the parking lot said they did not fair well either.
    City: Pacifica

Tips: We need to learn how to fish the stained/muddy water better....saw alot of places that would be great when the water is 64 and clear!

    Water Temp: 51-53

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Tough today. Fished 10:00am-3:15pm with one tap that didn't stick around to finish it's meal. Threw black/blue jigs, spooned and drop shotted on Dry Creek and Warm Springs sides. Graphed lots of fish throughout the water column, as well as plenty of bait. Fished S.L.O.W., and still no go. Talked to a couple guys who took one 1lber all day. Hope someone did good.
    City: San Anselmo

Tips: Do the opposite of what I did, or do it somewhere else...most winters at Sonoma I find that the all around best bait is a jig n' pig fished super super slow, and I do mean pork, which I didn't use today.

    Water Temp: 47-53

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: ABA tournament was won today in the back of Warm Springs. Jigs, brushhogs, worms. I think they had 21lbs. Warm Springs is fishing so much better now, because they are pulling so much water out and the Warm Springs side is least affected(more stable) when they do this. Dry Creek arm fish are more affected(unstable) and suspend and are harder to catch.
    City: Petaluma

Tips: Fish the Warm Springs for a better chance of catching fish right now. Still gotta fish slow, but try blades when the morning starts to warm up.

    Water Temp: 46

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: It was a very tough day. I blanked and my partner caught one on the only bite of the day.Launch air temp was 34 and water temp was 46 with muddy water everywhere. Even though the sun did warm things up a little bit it wasn't enough to get the bass to bite. We need at least a week or more of sunny days to put the bass in a better feeding mode.
    City: Santa Rosa

Tips: On February 16th the Redwood Empire Bass Club will be hosting there second tournament of the year. Hopefully with 10 days of warmer weather the bite should be on for the tournament. We welcome new members both boaters and non boaters to fish with us. Please join us at our next meeting February 13th at 7 p.m. at the Rohnert Park Community Center on the corner of Rohnert Park Expressway and Snyder Lane. Our guest speaker will be Dale Meddock from D & M Custom Baits. Dale will be demonstrating the Piranha deep water swim jig and many other exciting products. There will also be a raffle with a great variety of bass tackle to win. For more info log onto rebc.net or call me at 707-758-5762.

    Water Temp: 48

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Three members of the Redwood Empire Bass Club fished over the Christmass holidays and did quite well. In one area at 40ft. they managed to pull up a 7.5, 6.5 and 5.4 on jigs fished really slow. They also caught a few 4 lbs. on crankbaits. There best five went over 27lbs.
    City: Santa Rosa

Tips: Thanks to everyone who fished with us on December 15th. The Redwood Empire Bass Club is welcoming new members both boaters and non boaters to fish with us at our next tournament at Clear Lake on January 19th. Water Temp: 52

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: The Redwood Empire Bass Club held their annual open tournament on Saturday. We had a great turnout with 32 boats. It took 16.84 lbs get 1st place and we paid 10 positions down to 11.65 lbs. Not a lot of big fish overall, but a 7.52 lb bass earned the big fish prize of $450. 2nd big fish weighed just over 6 lbs. Check out the complete standings at www.rebc.net.
    City: Rohnert Park

Tips: Most anglers were catching bass on jigs, but overall the bite was very slow. Work main lake areas around trees. Try a black jig with a black/blue trailer between the trees. Work it very slowly and wait for tension on the line before setting the hook. Don't set on the first tap or you'll miss the fish.

    Water Temp: 58-60

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Started cranking points w/ timber on main lake, no luck, quit after surrendering two favorite cranks to the branches. Moved up to Yorty and promptly broke one off that wrapped me up in yet another branch. Branches 3, me 0. Kept flipping black/blue jigs w/ hula grub trailers at the wood, and finally got two cookie cutter smallies about 1.5 each. Started throwing a king shad swimbait, and got popped by about a 3.5-4lb LM appx. 2-3 feet off the bank. Lit up some scattered schools of bait in about 20-30ft, tried deep cranks, nada. That was the day, 3 in the boat, and I'm guessing at the weight, as my digital scale wouldn't work.
    City: San Anselmo

Tips: Reaction bite seems to be hit and miss, but better fish than plastics and jigs are producing. Mucho smelly jelly. Dark colored jigs in the muddy/stained stuff. Lotsa luck!

    Water Temp: 63

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: SLOW.......a few fish were caught on large jigs in trees, but nothing consistent. Still can't get a reaction bite going, maybe as water cools things will get going. Spoke with a couple of other anglers who also had a slow day. Water color was better after all of the rain.
    City: S

    Tips: Wait for cooler water...

    Water Temp: 67

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Slow, slow,slow......... No shad or luck up in the creeks. All the fish were found up on the main lake off main points and in the trees. Not much of a reaction bite yet. This is as low as I've seen the lake and its going to get worse. Watch out for timber! It's starting to show all over the lake. Especialy in the main body before the narrows.
    City: Healdsburg

Tips: Pray for rain. This lake has to get more water to return back to a normal pattern.

    Water Temp: 66-67

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished main body for 12lb limit. Caught 2 quality fish on jigs in trees, then banged 3 fish on 3 casts in 1-2lb range that were feeding on shad in the middle of the lake. The fish had the shad pinned against a tree that rises to the surface in 100 ft of water and for about 10 minutes they were boiling about the tree causing all sorts of commotion. "BE CAREFUL", as that tree could really do some damage. It is about halfway down the main body on the left hand side in 100 ft of water and not visible in low light conditions. I tied a plastic jug on it, but keep an eye out when you're in that area.
    City: Sebastopol

Tips: Still no reaction bite for me, so for now it's the same old stuff deep in the trees.....

    Water Temp: 67

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Tried the creeks looking for a reaction bite; water is low and clear and no fish to be found. After a few hours of frustration, moved to the main lake body and banged three fish within 20 minutes on 3/4 oz football jigs with white trailers. Biggest fish ran 5.25lbs. Other two less than 2 lbs. Deep in trees in 35-40 ft of water. Negative: Very, very windy on main body today. Positive; I was the only bass boat on the lake!
    City: Sebastopol

Tips: Stay on main body until fish push shad up into creeks and flats.

    Water Temp: 71

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Took a friend new to bass fishing out for his first trip. Got one 5-6lb pig on 4th cast on a crank-which consequently snapped my line at the boat. Aaarrgh! Piqued my buddies interest in bass fishing right away, though! Went to jigs, lizards, senkos, no luck. One more smallie on the crank, couple more hits then had to get Pete back to work. To his credit, only several backlash in some pretty good wind. He's hooked.
    City: San Anselmo

Tips: Medium cranks in shad patterns/main lake points, gotta chip some paint off 'em, bang the rocks and submerged trees. Hooked the big one in about 3', got the smallie in 35-40' off the top of a tree.

    Water Temp: 75-77

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Tips: The Redwood Empire Bass Club is looking for new members, both boaters and non boaters to fish with us. Our next tournament is at Clear Lake on September 22nd. Please join us at our next meeting at 7p.m. on September 12th at the Rohnert Park Community Center on the corner of Rohnert Park Expressway and Snyder Lane.
