Report: Had parties out on the lake both Sunday and Tues. Sunday was pretty slow but probably hit 20-25 ish total. A 6lb. Largemouth saved the day. It hit a rootbeer senko in the tailings early. Couldn't get a topwater bite going either day, but Sunday's crew had a couple o boils. Tues didn't bring us the toad we were hoping or but the clients were mostly interested in locations and techniques that would produce bigger ish than they had ound in the past. With 25-30 ish caught, several in the 2lb range mission accomplished. Fish both days were caught mostly on senkos and darter head Pro Worms. Morning Dawn is still working good as is the Pro Gold red lake. I must say that I throughly enjoyed both days. It'snice to have clients who appreciate the eort and are also really nice people. Thanks guys.
City: WeavervilleTips: Smallies are still hanging out on lats in 6-10'

Report: Got out on the lake or a while the 25th to see what was happening. Actually I was going to reclaim some conidence ater ishing Shasta or 3 days over the weekend. Went to the tailings at irst light and picked up a 5+ LM right o on a crankbait.I was looking or bedded largemouths as last year on the ull moon over the 4th there were a substantial no.o ish on beds, but this year that doesn't seem to be the case.Must have gotten that all taken care o earlier. Smallies are still hitting darter head worms in Pro Gold red lake and both species are hitting Gitzits. Around 9:30 I went to Wyntoon and hit some decent smallies on Morning Dawn. What you have to do is Match the Hatch. There are all kinds o pink critters swimming around in Trinity Lake, so obviously Morning Dawn is the color o choice.RIGHT!!! I don't know why it works but it does. They were also jumping all over rootbeer senkos. Ended up with over a dozen ish bigger than my best Shasta ish so mission accomplished.
City: WeavervilleTips: Didn't try rip baits as I was sick o ishing them, but no reason they wouldn't work

Report: got in a trinity center at 0455 and ran into Squirrel gulch tossing spooks with Jack Kemper, got a smallmouth on but he got o while dancing his way back to the boat, Jack got two just under 2 lbs real quick, getting light so ran to the orth end in the tailings and caught 15 more, and 5 were largemouth and I got the ish o the day on a lucky crat pointer in aurora black, a nice at 3.7, the others averaged 1.5 and most came on spooks, the bite slowed around 8 am so we took o or Hay gulch and started tossing MGM worms in 127 and 151, Jack got a bunch o small ish, all smallmouth, on the 127 and I got 2 dinks on the 151, the bite quit near 0830 and we ished until 1030, many missed ish on the spooks when they came up and bumped them, porbably 20 more that didn't get on, the spook bite stopped just beore the sun hit the west bank. Not a single other boat out there and the water was lat, a great morning with Jack and I whooping it up as every smallmouth came to the surace and jumped repeatedly.
City: ReddingTips: Take some MGM 151's in a three inch curly tail or ater the sun comes up.

Report: Fished the North end Friday morning, missed the early morning bite but had decent cloud cover most o the day. Started o in the ballpark area and landed a ew average smallmouths, lots o empty beds around. Went up to the tailings and started inding some quality largemouths up to 5.1. Caught ish anywhere rom 2' to 25'. Jigs and senko's did most o the damage, had a hard time getting a reaction bite going. Some o the largemouth had raw tails but couldn't see any bed ish. Thunderstorms had us o the water by 5.

Report: Got to the North end o the lake about 10 AM and ound the lot about ull o the Susanville club rigs. Went looking or smallie beds. ound a ew but it looks like the dropping water has moved the bigger males deeper. Hope this is the case, as the beds I ound were only about 3-4'deep. Went to the Ballpark and ound something that I hadn't seen beore. There was a 2-3 Knot current running North through that area. Apparently the large releases are creating a Southbound current in the mainlake and there is an eddy in the Ballpark area. As soon as I igured out what was happening It became real interesting. The ish were oriented dierent than I have ever seen and they were very catchable once you ound them. What startedout as a slow day ended up being a lot o un. Maybe 20 ish total, mostly quality smallies. A 5.5 Largemouth and a 4.5 smallie made the photo shoot back at the dock but there were several other ish over 3 pounds. As long as I don't see any more evidence o the releases causing problems with the spawn, perhaps I'd better quit b*tchin. Heard second hand that the club tourney had a 6+ or lunker and 12+ led the way. Wish I'd been entered.
City: WeavervilleTips: Had a pretty good Gitzit bite going and next best was the Pro Gold on a 1/8 oz jig.

All these quality ish on a ull moon and the day ater a cold ront. Wow!

Report: I spent 3 days this past weekend with a ly-isherman on my back deck and did I ever learn a lot. A gentleman by the name o Mel Toponce and his lovely wie Sandy joined me in search o Trinity Smallies. Iwas able to put him on some ish and ater the proper ly was determined he tore them up at times. Although the ishing was pretty good, the companionship and growing riendship were even better. Thanks Sandy and Mel or a most enjoyable three days. The bass ishing is in ull swing with trophy size ish being taken with regularity. Jerks and cranks are working well in the 3-10' range while darterhead worms, gitzits, and brush hogs are taking the deeper ish. Now is an excellent time to take your avorite bait and just go ishing.

Report: Hit the lake at sae light and went to the honey hole on the North end. Bill Watson joined me in his own boat as I told him that I thought I could put him on ish. At 7:00 we weighed in our best 4 at 19 plus and I now have a photo o Bill with a six pounder in each hand. It was a good thing that we got there early because the breeze died about 8:00 and so did the bite. Bill caught his LM on Baby Brush Hogs while my smallies (to 3.86) came on darter head Pro Worms.
City: WeavervilleTips: I you're going to ish darter heads in the tailings take a lot o them with you.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Today was one o those days you dream about or me and a couple o guys who came down rom Ore. For me,a 7-10 largemouth was the highlight, backed up by a 5-10 largemouth and 3 smallies in the 4 lb. range, 15 ish in all. Shortly beore I nailed the big largemouth I watched Chris Carpenter land a 6-8 smallie, which Robert Radbourne so ably netted. Those two guys were on a sweet spot and it was a joy to watch them load the boat. I have no idea how many ish they caught but just while I was watching I'm sure that it was in the high 20's. We got together or a weigh-in and photo shoot in the middle o the river and it was determined that between the 3 o us our best 5 would go over 31 lbs. Darter heads were the key or me. They will have to tell you what was working or them.
City: WeavervilleTips: The smallies were moving up and down. I the bite slows in a particular area, don't give up. They'll be back.

Water Temp: 47-49
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: The water has warmed enough to start the smash mouth action.Caught 7 smallies and one large mouth rom 2-4 lbs on a darter then went Crankin. Wow, I'd almost orgotten how much un that can be. Fish were hitting a crawdad Frenzy but the way they were hitting I guess about anything would have worked. The only thing was you had to have it banging on the rocks.
City: WeavervilleTips: Here's a tip or a plug knocker. I wind mine on an old loat marker bouy. When you get hung up hook the knocker over the line and toss it and the bouy over board. 90% o the time i you keep your line tight it will knock it loose irst try. Keeps the rope organized and your hands ree.
