Report: Fished tournement out of Ladds. The flip bite had been awesome on prefish, most of the fish I caught on a goby colored alien flip made by Wacko Tackle. The fish I had been catching in prefish were holding on current points and were just crushing the bait! I set on about half the bites I had and they ranged between 1 1/2 to 3 lbs. Boy did things change on sat. We lost a couple fish early flipping waiting for the tide to get right, then when it did the wakeboarders were churning the area up so bad it just shut the fish down. Ran to secondary spot to try to get a limit, caught one 2 on a electric red rattle trap and got lucky and caught a 7lb 8oz on a DUH!!! shad colored spinnerbait on a rock bank with wood. Filled out our limit on low tide on a berm throwing 1/2 chrome rattle traps before the wake boarders ran us of. had 16lbs 10oz.
      City: Galt

Tips: Last half of outgoing tide was the key. Were you find one bass there was normally more. Work the area over HARD. 1/2 rattle trap chrome and 1/2 DUH!!! spinnerbait shad color outdoor sportsman in stockton had them. Flipped 3/16 weight with a alien flip. Bass are starting to key in on shad. Good luck and God bless!

Report: Launched from Del's at 7:30. Caught three fish all between 3 and 4 pounds. One on a black/blue buzz bait, one on a jig and my 12 year old son caught his personal best on a red Bacon Rind. First two fish were in Italian Slough and my son's fish was caught in Disco Bay. Bites were very light and barely noticable.

Tips: Hit rock banks with wood, rock banks that transition into tules or other vegetation or in weeds next to but out of direct current.

Report: Fished day trips Wed, Thurs, and hal o Fri. All trips were "learning the lake" type o trips, but we did ish quite a bit. I started o in great style - showing clients how to ish a Senko (#240). I convinced 'em that they work when I set up on an 8 lb 2 oz beauty - and it stayed on!!! Maybe I am inally pulling out o my "losing the big one" slump I've been in this past year! We were ishing a little spot that I love on the west side o the Rattlesnake arm. She hit about 8 am in 4 eet o water, probably because it was cloudy and the water was choppy. Client got his irst Senko ish in Konocti Bay - about 2 1/4 lbs. Caught a couple on jigs, and a couple more on Senko's, but they wern't too big. Thursday, I had one client, who ished well. However, we were battling post-ront conditions. We ished jigs deeper and got two, one nearly 4 lbs at Shag Rock. I was amazed to ind some thick algae ater the storm, in Konocti Bay. We ished Senkos and caught 3 more quality bass, shallow, in weeds and docks. It was like the old days - green slime in the reels - WOW!! We wound up with 5 bass or 16 1/4 lbs. I was pleased, but it was tough ishing. Friday, we ished or a ew hours around Rattlesnake Island, along with a cast o thousands, and actually caught a couple. One o the guys cranked a nice 3-10 on a white crank, I got a 3-7 on a Rodstrainer jig, and the other ellow lost a nice one at the boat on a morning dawn Magic Worm. These Magic worms have been working very well or me during these high ishing pressure times. We also got a ew smaller ones. I was targeting subtle areas that don't get much pressure. This is one o the keys to ishing Clear Lake these days - orget the popular rockpiles - i one boat leaves, another will take it's place 5 min later. The bass are looking up (rom a distance) and studying the latest in hull designs!!
      City: Yuba City

Tips: I am still ishing the 5" Senko, which is what I caught the big one on. I you havn't tried color# 240, you should. It really seems to attract larger bass. Dark colors seem to keep the dinks away a bit. The salt and pepper, white-like colors really will attract the dinks. The jig bite is still holding up or us, rom 8 to 30 eet deep. I still think that the #180 Yamamoto grub trailer is the best there is!!!! I have been doing better lately with the 5" single tail. Don't know why.

      Water Temp: 70-71

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished about 6 hours in and out of rain, landed 9 bass to 3 lbs. (mixed) and 3 trout. Splitshotting #1 and #62 Magic worms (6" & 4") in 15-25 ft. Nothing else drew a bite. Trout caught on top casting or trolling silver/blue Kastmaster (1/2 oz.) in and around surface action (lost 4 others trying to land them without a net). Rain and clouds seemed to keep the trout chasing shad on the surface throughout the day but the heavy rain finally drove us off the lake.
      City: Vacaville

Tips: Bass and trout throwing up shad when caught. Slow presentation for bass when wind died but they perfered more movement while fishing windblown points.

Report: Fished with a riend o mine rom 7 am to 11:15 am. He had to go to work at 2 PM, thank goodness! It rained nearly 2 inches at the lake in the last 24 hrs, and one o those inches ell on MY HEAD! It was miserable!! But the ishing wasn't - we landed 8 keepers and one 12 incher, 6 were over the slot - including a 2 1/2 lb largemouth and a 2 lb 2 oz smallie! Even on this nasty, dark day, the quality ish were deep 30 t+. Tried topwater, spinnerbaits, crankbaits - nothing - probably because the temp dropped over 20 degrees in one day. The worm and jig were the "tools" o the day. We ished the north ork and the main body - mud banks with big rocks.
      City: Yuba City

Tips: Nothing new - ollow the bait. There are many dead areas this time o year. Fish will begin to school up as the bait does.

Report: Launched out of Holland mid-morning. Stopped by Frank's Tract near Sand Mound and cranked, spinner'd, jigged and ended up trying something new (for me); a weightless Senko. Popped a 2.10 which turned out to be big fish of the day (thanks Cooch. Think I finally believe in them now). Went to Old River, Mildred's, Whiskey and back to Holland. Bunch of small 1.5-2 lb but nothing substancial. Was really windy and after the rain stopped, nada (2 pm). Think the weather confused the fish as much as me...
      City: san jose

Tips: Only got bit on soft plastics.

      Water Temp: cooler

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Launched out of the Hook Saturday. Did my typical pass through barge cove. 3rd cast with rattletrap get 1lb striper. Couple of casts later pull a bigger striper maybe 4 lbs. Loose another one at boat of same size. Start cranking weedline in cove for blackies, miss two, land one of about 1.5 lbs. Run to another spot in big break that has held fish - primarily stripers, though, hook another striper on trap that throws bait at boat looked to be about 5 lbs, no blackies. Run to Little Franks, another boat is on a spot that I have caught fish, so move on, casting at cuts, lose one fish, and head to area in Franks that always gives up some fish - bingo! Pitching brush hog (my confidence bait) get a solid thunk! and first 3.5 lber in boat. Two casts later, thunk!, another clone in boat - these are much better fish! Lose two good ones, put another near 4 in boat and a 2 lber after that. All fish were in an area about 40 feet across. Decide to crank points draining into Franks with rattletrap, couple of small stripers, no blackies. Head to Middle river, crank weed wall, one fish of 1.5 lbs, missed two others again! I know there are better fish on this stretch of bank, and promised myself I would try to use the Senko, so start fishing it. No fancy stuff, just gently pitching it to weed walls and deeper pockets and letting it settle on slack line without any action at all. 10 minutes into this the line moves off, and I set the hook on a solid fish that is largest yet, 4 lbs or better. Decide to rest spot and head into Mildred to see if the big stripers are back. Start cranking a rattletrap and land one striper of about 7 lbs. Other boats are watching and move in. I lose 3 more that felt small, so decided to go back to black bassing. Only manage a couple of small keepers on red crankbait, so decide to try a new area, and run up to White's the wind is howling by now, and makes for a difficult time. Tried cranking, pitching brush hogs, and spinnerbaits, only one bite and it is on a senko and I miss it - too windy! Finally find sheltered area and try frog on cheese, nothing. This spot looks ideal so I try the senko and get a 2 lber. Decide it's time to get back because wind in nuts now. Fish Turner, cranking docks on way back, miss two and then get biggest of day for 5 lbs. All told, 10-12 blackies and 4-5 stripers. Best 5 blacks would have gone 15 lbs or so. Not the numbers of previous trips, but much better fish.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished on Friday 10/6/00. Lake level has been lowered but not all the way yet. Water was clear and still warm to the touch. Excellent bass day! Within 45 minutes I had caught a limit o bass. All ish in the 2 to 3 lb range. By 11 Am I had caught 12 bass (9 largemouth and 3 smallies). Biggest largemouth weighed 3.5 lb and largest small mouth went 3 lb. Also hooked 2 catish (5 to 6 lb range) while bass ishing.Got a little exciting when a "huge" striper attacked a 2.5 lb largemouth I was ighting. Amazing to see!!! I was hoping the striper would swallow the bass and take me or a ride!! Ater seeing this I devoted an hour to tossing large lures in the are. No luck! I switched to troit trolling rom 12 to 2 Pm and caught 2 trout (12 to 14 inch) while trolling. At 2 I started striper ishing again and worked it till 5 PM. No luck. I also ished Del Valle lat week with the same results (7 bass, 2 trout, 1 catish & 1 salmon).
      City: Fremont

Tips: split shot white worms along rock piles in 20 t o water.Use silver and blue Kastmasters or salmon. Fire tiger needle ish or trout. For stripers try depth charges or hand grenades.

Report: Went ishing twice in the last two weeks. Caught two smallmouth that were 2 1/4 and 2#'s. Caught one other short smallmouth. Also caught seven other largemouth bass. They were all less than 2#'s each. Lots o small ish around, but the big ones were hard to ind. Caught most o the ish on topwater.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Launched out of Sugar Barge and decided to throw topwater plugs for Stripers and Largemouths at a favorite spot in Franks Tract. No takers on topwater so went to throwing Rattletraps and hook a 4lb stiper. Good fight for his size. Throw it out again and get hit by a freight train! Line starts smokin and I'm havin some fun with this one following him around with the trolling motor. The fish actually pealed about 80 yrds of line on first run and took me through an Island break. 20 minutes later and I net a nice striper. 14.2 lbs on the hand scale. Caught 3 more stipers up to 6lbs. and decide to target Bigmouth. I cranked some rip rap but could not get that bite going so I went to plastic worms. Caught 5 bass but biggest only went 1.5lbs.
      City: Danville

Tips: All of my fish where caught in current.
