Report: Had a guide trip scheduled for today, and my client canceled. Boy is he gonna be disappointed with this report. I launched out of Big Break and flipped two nice 2+ fish in the marina on rocky grass banks with a brown jig tipped with black/blue pork. Having caught these two and two other runners, that I missed, keyed me in to that the fish were in their winter rock pattern. I ran from the Break to the east and managed to catch a few fish on the jig but not with as great of success as I had hoped, Then made a run to Disco, I caught 11 fish two two pounds on this same rock pattern in all three bays. It wasn't until about 12:00a, as the tide was getting higher, that I caught my first good fish, a 5+. I caught this fish on a deep rock bank with no weeds on a black and red jig. The fish was very shallow and I was really hopping that jig. This keyed me to move to another area and try some crankin. Had a lot of wind and bluebird skies, I've seen this pattern before, right after a storm, and made a run to Old River. I then picked up a 7A Red Bomber and WACKED em good! Caught 22 fish, from 12:30 till 3:00, all over 4 pounds. Biggest went 10lbs 1 oz!

There I ran the cranks down under the ish, let it drit up in them, and ripped it down again. Picked up 2 more beore bailing out. I'm thinking next time I'll ish the Clearlake Oaks arm, looking or the type o transitions I caught bigger ish at. Talked to a guy Pre-ishing or a local tourney - he was throwing Brush hogs and picking up ish around Nice.
City: Yuba CityTips: It's COLD as heck in the morning. I'd put in as close to where you plan to ish i possible. I put in at 6:45 at Lucern an ran across to Lakeport. Won't do that again without a ace shield!

Setting a new boat record for us (we're both rookies). Caught 2 more fish after that, weighed neither, since they looked like minnows compared to the first fish. Were probably 1 - 2lb. range. Fish were all caught at about 20ft. Threw some cranks, and other plastics, with no luck.

Report: Fished Big Break on Sunday. Fishing for me was slow. Only one keeper bass that hit a hair raiser while fishing a current line for stripers. I did get into a good school of striper in the middle of BB. Action was fast and furious for about 15 minutes. I was hooking a fish each cast. Water temp has only dropped slightly over the past week, but the fish seem to be moving into a winter pattern.

Report: Went out or Orwood with Doug O from CVBC for a lesson day for this rookie. Dang fog made it hard to get anywhere. fished near orwood with no success; went to Woodward where Doug gave me a nice lesson on reading a graph, sticking a nice 2.5 that we saw on the graph in deeper water. Moved around a bit, caught a few more. Ended the day finding a spot that produced numbers of stripers and quite a few bucketmouths as well, including a 3 and a couple of twos. It was a nicer but colder day than I anticipated. Learned a lot.
City: belmontTips: go deep & slow. look for slow current and cover to place fish. When all else fails, pitch a rattletrap and go fish for stripers!
