      Report: Robert.
2.5 to 3.5 inch Green pumpin/light brown tubes. Use a craw scent. find rock piles, slowly work the tube down the side. Use just enough weight to feel the bottom, and use light line (6-8 lb). If the wind picks up throw jerk baits. Good luck.

Report: I am just trying to make sure that the facts were right. I love to fish trinity but i have a feeling that it is going to be a while before anyone actually pulls out a record smallmouth out of there. Unless they keep dumping the water out of it for the salmon. Only if the fish and game knew how to manage the wild game here in california then they wouldnt have this so called crisis to save the salmon. They really need to learn how to manage there big game animals, fish, and there money. Because it is crap that our license fees keep going up and it all seems to go to the stupid government.

      Water Temp: 68-70

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Some folks are just die hard Trinity lovers. The folks I fished with last week came back for a couple more days of that incredible topwater action. After the cold front this weekend which dropped the temp several degrees, the Topwater bite just didn't materialize yesterday. The topwater bite has been a game of patience, cast and let sit. We were all shivering so bad it was impossible not to move the Pop-R. Would have been great if we'd been shakin worms, it would have happened automatically. In fact the whole day was pretty tough. I asked them back for another try today and it sure paid off. A 5+ smallie smacked a Pop-R about 7:45 this morning. Clients went home very happy campers. I don't know how long this topwater bite is going to last but I sure wish I could be there every day for a while and find out. There has been a hatch of very small bugs going on and I expect it has the fish looking up. We were catching topwater fish at noon today.
      City: Weaverville

Tips: Very few fish have hit topwaters on the retrieve and although we've been fishing Pop-R's a lot it seems that anything that floats will catch fish if left there long enough. We caught fish on cranks and jerks as well. Just don't crank or jerk em.

Report: Well John I think you were right. I was there for the weekend camping and got a little fishing worked into the weekend. For me the bite improved as the day went on with afternoons being the best. Saturday morning picked up a few fish quickly on a silver rattle trap. These fish were relating to points. Tried jigs for quite a while, but only picked up a couple fish. Changed to drop shot and picked up serveral more. Went out with the family late in the afternoon and the fish were on the stumps. Picked up 5 fish in about 30 minutes throwing drop shot 6" New Ayu worms near stumps in 6' to 20'. Best fish was a 3.8 LM. Sunday morning I ran to a creek arm and decided to fish there till 10:00am. Nothing until the sun was up then caught them real good. Caught one 2.9# SM off a bed. Did see 3 SM still on beds, but they were VERY spooky. After that started blasting down the bank hitting stumps. Caught about 15 fish in a couple hours with best 5 being all SM from 2.8# to 3.3# All were on a drop shot.
      City: Brentwood

Tips: Was my first trip to this lake. There is some great Small Mouth fishing at Trinity. I do have to say though, I have never seen so many people keeping fish. While I believe there is nothing wrong with keeping a few fish to eat, I saw some pretty scary numbers of fish being cleaned in the camp we stayed at. I would hate to see this lake get overharvested. Remeber people, bass do not get planted like trout do, so a little catch and release will keep the fishing good there for years to come.
