Water Temp: 48
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Haven't been out to collins in over a year, but had a blast! Between the two if us we caught 18 bass with the best five 16.4lbs only got one large mouth that was a tad over three, but the big spots were hungry. It was a nice calm day, but the lake was pretty low. I thought the fish would be deep, but they all came from 5-15' of water.
City: Yuba CityTips: Fish slow with 1/8oz shaky head matched with a chartreuse chompers 6" worm. And for the spot, well can't give my secret spot away

Clear Lake
-
Water Temp: 45 - 47
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Steve and I took a ride to Clearlake to see if the water had warmed up.....it had not. day started bad with mechanical difficulties so we fished rattlesnake for a while saw a few boats that looked to be minnow fishing, tried banks and offshore. Steve got a 2.5 on a dropshot around 10:20 and then we headed up to try some rockpiles, no takers, hit a few spots in the redbud arm and honeymoon cove docks no takers, mostly fishing 10-20 feet. Dropshot, t-rig, cranks, jerkbait, spook, swimbait, all with the same result...no takers. Still fun to be out there but too early for active fish. Good Luck.
City: PacificaTips: Talked to a couple guys who said they had no fish but they saw fish all over, really saw fish, they had a underwater camera and found alot of fish and dropped spoons, dropshot etc. to them and would not bite, They also said their buddy sent a photo of a double on the new Alabama rig. Guessing that phenom will be all over the lake this spring after the TV coverage it got this year. Hit the lake with your umbrella rig???

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Glad someone is reading the reports! It was pointed out to me that I should have reported the Yamamoto Flappin Hog I was using was not 924. So, I was only off by 30 - Should have said #954. Sorry! The previous guy reported a 22 lb limit also, so that makes day and night fishing about even??

Water Temp: 48-50
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: I fished yesterday from 4:30 to 11 pm with Jason Kincannon, launching at the Oaks. The time around sunset was nice but a north breeze came up and air temp dropped a bunch - 28 to 30 degrees when we left! Pretty miserable. The bite was fair for shallow bass. The 7 that we landed were from 5 to 15 feet though we lost a few deeper fish. They ranged from 3 1/2 to 5 1/4 lbs - best 5 at 22+ lbs. I didn't expect much better with the weather conditions. I was using the new Yamamoto 5" Flappin hog (#924) while Jason used swimbaits, swim jigs, and brush hogs. He caught the 2 over 5 lbs. No complaints though - the fall nights have been nice over all and the fishing way better than last year. We may need to have an official rain dance pretty soon however!!
City: Yuba CityTips: If you don't do the minnow thing, I feel it is always good to fish a bait that has a lot of "bulk" during the cold water months. That includes jigs, brush and Power hog baits, Yamamoto Kreature and Flappin Hog baits, or whatever your favorite is. One can drop-shot or Texas rig those baits. I love the D&M Piranha swim jigs as some of you know. A look-alike bait Jason used last night produced a few and I lost a good fish using the D&M. Obviously, rip baits and rattle-trap type baits will work - depending on conditions. Lastly, if you can time your winter tripsloel to any lake - try to fish during incoming cloudy weather - something we haven't seen for 2 months! Any type of milder weather does seem to help the winter bite at Clear Lake more than deep reservoir lakes like Oroville, Shasta, and the like. Thank goodness those lakes have spotted bass that don't care what the weather is!!! Good luck this winter!

Water Temp: 52-55
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Bites came throught the day with the first fish on the 3rd cast with a "Realfishbait" 6" floating trout swimbait. The rest came on drop shotting a 6" "Keeper" worm. Caught 3 under, 1 over and 4 within the slot limit. Kept seeing trout following baits to the boat so my partner started following up with a kastmaster and caught a limit.

Shasta Lake
-
Water Temp: 50-51
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Fished the 7th and 8th with good success, we caught fish anywhere from 10 to 65ft deep with the best concentration and size in the 30 to 40ft range. Most bites where very subtle, just pressure bites, but some fish would nail it. All fish caught on 4.5 to 6 inch green pumpkin w/blk & purple flake finesse worms, shakey head. Tried throwing blades and jerkbaits on windblown points and banks with no luck.
City: SacramentoTips: Deep creek channels in the arms of big spawning coves is where the best concentration of where. Found fish to be very spread out on the main bodies of water. There was a good night bite on the shadow side of banks due to the bright moon, all fish caught on drop shot rig at night.

Report: The bass here in Trinity County are in hibernation. Can't find one for the life of me. Looking to travel to Clear lake on the weekend of 1/14. Any info as to where to launch, what section of the lake to fish, hotel, campground, etc. Lookin to cure the winter blues!

Oroville Lake
-
Water Temp: 53
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Actually the slot limit on Oroville for bass is 12-15 inches, not 14. You can double check this on dfg.ca.gov. Also if you are a game warden you should know the regs and not give false limit sizes.(looks unprofessional and makes people, well, keep short fish)

Water Temp: 46.5-47.2
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Fished Beaver Slough on 12/31 and 1/2 good two days on the water. Caught a total of 15 keepers both days; 6 fish on 12/31 and 9 fish on 1/2. Could not catch any fish on Rip Bait, crankbait or slow rolling a spinner bait. All fish came on either a weightless Senko or a Texas rigged Sweet Beaver, fishing SLOW, VERY SLOW...
City: SacramentoTips: Be patient and fish slow...if you thinkk you are fishing slow then fish slower. The bite only lasted about hour and a half each day as the tide was changing.
