Report: I wish we had cought more fish but just been out there made it all worth it. Saw some bald eagles and some beatiful spots and managed to catch a few keepers (biggest 2 1/2 LB). What worked the best was brown with red flakes senkos and clear with different color flakes, also white spinner bait and salt n' pepa grubs. Senkos worked the best....for me.
City: South San FranciscoTips: Early morning bite before all the noise. Try submerged trees and points. Most bites for senkos were on the fall. Have fun, I can't wait to go back.

Water Temp: 78 thru 83
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: This past Friday I took Kevin and his son Nick out for a few hours. Nick caught the most fish that day with the largest one being a fifteen inch spotted bass. The bite was pretty good and we had a lot of fun that day (see photos). Saturday at 7 AM I took out Andy, Pauline and their daughters Katy (age 10) and Grace (age 7 1/2) who had never caught a fish for a fun day on the lake. As we left the dock the girls helped me drive to the east side of the lake and boy were they excited. The girls were using a "Speed Trap" silver and blue on one rod and a "Rattle Trap" silver on the other rod. Grace caught the first fish with a little help from her father and it was an eleven inch bass which she was happy to release because I had explained to her that the bass had to be at least twelve inches. Then Katy got hooked up with a trout and brought it in with the help of her father. We trolled for a little while and then we headed out to the Vineyards. We started at the first barbwire fence and were using brass and glass and senko worms (three different colors - watermelon red fleck, watermelon black fleck, and my wife's favorite color which I'm sworn to secrecy not to reveal) and not suprisingly my wife's color worked the best. By the time we left the Vineyards we had caught some large sunfish and the big star of the day was a fourteen pound large mouth bass brought in by Andy!!! Please see photos. Needless to say it was a very happy and productive day. On Sunday I went out with Dan and we fished the west side by the Bureau. Using brass and glass Dan hooked a nice three pounder. Later that afternoon we fished the back cove of Big Island and Dan landed a few more nice bass. My buddies Albert and Jory who have been fishing for catfish from the shore told me that they have been catching good size cats using hotdogs and mackerel. 'til next week...................................................good fishing!!!!!

Report: Gentlmen,I'd like to share a pretty scarry experience with you. Launched out of Orwood this past Thursday with my 7 yr old son for a day of fishing. Caught small fish pretty much all day 1-1 1/2lbs throwing senkos and drop shots. I decided to call it a day later that evening around 6:15. On the way back to the launch ramp my son asks if we can fish a while longer. After a hesitant moment I decided to safely u-turn in that stretch between Disco Bay and Orwood and head to Cruiser Haven. After turning left at the slough that runs parallel to Disco Bay (Indian Slough I believe) there's moderate boat traffic and a few jet skiers. So we're headed up the slough at about 35 to 40 mph when I notice a big cabin cruiser headed in the opposite direction. It's traveling at a safe speed. Near the end of the slough and preparing for the right turn that we're about to take, I decide to veer to the right to minumize the affects of the cruiser's inevitable wake. It's at that point when I hear and feel a loud crashing sound at the bottom of my transom. The boat immediately begins to spin out of control. I quickly turn off the engine and we end up facing the opposite direction pretty shook up but absolutely unharmed, thank God! Two bass boats with two anglers each immediately approach us to see if we were OK. They were kind enough to rope up to our boat and tow us back to the launch with the other boat following us. Back at the launch they help us pull the boat up onto the trailer, provided us with extra rope to help secure my severely damaged and dangling lower unit to my engine! After a friend of mine showed up to help me and the little one home, the four samaritans decided to head on their way. My son and I'd like to thank Jeremy, Leroy, Ryan, and Josh (four complete strangers)from the bottom of our hearts for taking the time to help two complete strangers in an extreme time of need! Thanks fellas...that was very big of you all! Oh yeah, FYI for those that are unaware...there are obviously submereged pilings or some sort of structure in that afformentioned area that we clipped causing our accident. Please be careful...we were very lucky! Good Fishing and safe boating to all!

Water Temp: 79-82
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Hit the water at 5:45 am hoping for a Topwater bite...nothing, nada. Switched to medium crank baits and rattle traps, nothing on rattle traps and 2 small spots and 1 keeper on crank bait. Switched to drop shotting Robo worms until 1:00 pm, caught 23 fish but only 2 keepers; not sure where all th big fish went???Didn't hardly recoginize the lake, last time I was there was about 1+ years and all my usual fishing spots were no where to be seen except about 20+ feet down. Oh well had a nice moring on the lake and enjoyed the day.

Report: Yes, I agree as well and did not mean to exclude bass boats from the list of those who lack courtesy and mutual consideration..in fact, some are downright arrogant and rude. To them, if you don't have a bassboat, you ain't worth their attention. I think every group has that element. But also have met some very cool bassers who talk to you and don't mind sharing insights and courtesy, and no matter what kind of boat you have. And YES I DO slow down in the sloughs when I see others fishing or just moored.
OK, FOR THE REPORT... fished the early morning outgoing tide, first topwater, only 1 blowup, next moved to speedtrap and picked up 4 1-2 lbers; moved along the tules and worked senkos from inside weedline, over the top, then dropped along the outside weedline. picked up 4 more this way, mostly as the bait moved over the top to drop on the outside. then changed from wacky to t-rigged and this sliced it through the weedline and picked up 2 more. off the water by noon.
City: folsomTips: Fish both T-rig and wacky senkos between the weedline and tules. Work it through or over the weedline and to the dropoff to deeper water. Worked for us but not all the time obviously. Hoping for an increased crank bite.

Report: Launched out of Red Bud yesterday afternoon with a friend - fishing until about midnight. He is fishing the Sat night tourney - so this will be brief. We started catching nice 3 to 3 1/2 lb bass. Everything was fine until I hooked a huge bass on a D&M Piranha swim jig - and lost it after 15-20 seconds. Wow!! My bud covered lots of water and did quite well. After some excellent spring trips, this was my night to stink up the place (in addition to the algae!) and I did - only caught a 4 1/4 and a 3 1/2. He did well and it was his turn to nail a nice one - 7 lbs 3 oz. Our limit was pushing 23 lbs.
City: Yuba CityTips: We'll let the weekend tournament folks figure out the "tips" for this weekend!

Report: I headed over to the dam area after work around 5:30pm tons of fish jumping. Water is very low, I don't think I have ever seen it so low. Started with plastics and no takers. Threw in my LC minnow sp and had a taker but it got off =(. Few minutes landed another around 4-5-lbs. Nothing else all evening. I fished for about 2 hours.

Clear Lake

Water Temp: 82
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fished Lake with my partner first time this year. Got out at 5am for a crack at topwater bite. Not great but caught 3 on super spook and 1 on a rico in a 45 minute window, no other blow-ups. Fished east side of narrows. Tried Lakeport but fan boats spraying tons of purple weed killer into lake, no fish to be found. Picked up 3 more on north end, 1 on jig, 1 on beaver, 1 one senko. Added 1 more on a frog at 2pm. Temp got to a blistering 101 with no shade. Added 2 more 5lb cats to total up against some pilings on senkos. Algae starting to go into full bloom will take over many spots on lake soon. Total 8 bass, 3lb ave. 2 cats, and only one missed fish. Not great but quality good, no consistent pattern!
City: San FranciscoTips: Cover water fast in early morning. If you find some post spawn fish stay on them until they shut off. Look for shade and dark spots in tules in the afternoon, it's HOT and bright on the lake. LOTS of guys beating up the same tule lines look for more secluded stuff most guys overlook. Fish are still hitting very subtle even on the topwater. Good Luck and Good Fishin.

Oroville Lake

Water Temp: 75-81
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Who would be dumb enough to guide 2 days after the 4th of July weekend?? Me, I guess, if clients wanted to go. Three of them did and off to the lake we went. Actually, the bite was as I thought it would be - and maybe a little better. One of the fellas was a good stick and caught a bunch! The other two were missing a lot of fish - and I'm sure lots of those bites were dinks - since they are everywhere now. So, a few minutes before we start heading in, at 1:20 in the afternoon, one of them sticks big fish for the day - at 16 inches! The the other fellow catches 2, one just under the slot. All told, they caught around 25 and I caught a few too - trying different color Robo worms for them. I stumbled on a winner! Fish wouldn't look at morning dawn, a solid winner for the past several weeks. What color was hot today? M.Mutilator II. Who wouda thunk!
City: Yuba CityTips: Summer is here and the lake shows it. Small bass have invaded the shallows, hitting the fishing line, following baits to the boat, and biting non-stop. Air temp was nearly 100 and water temp mostly from 79 to 81. Can't make to many judgements on the bite so soon after the major holiday. We found most of our fish on underwater rockpiles, ridges, shadelines, and rock walls. Not too many on points. Stayed in the middle fork all day.

Anderson Lake
-
Water Temp: 73an-79pm
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Great day at Anderson, caught a mess of fish on a variety of techniques all over the lake North and South. In the morning picked up a couple on a white spinner and a few more on a T-rigged Sweet Beaver (California 420). Mid-day to afternoon (got really hot) switched to C-rigged BBrushhog in watermelon and red flake and drop-shot RoboWorm Alive Shads in Sxy Shad and Ayu. Went through two packs, lost the bait on almost every darn fish!
City: MontereyTips: Bigger fish ~2# hit the spinner, beaver, and brush hog. All the bigger guys were tight up against the bank. The little Anderson specials were all in deeper water ~10-20' using the drop shot.

Report: ok so read the posts put on here first off the last one sounds alot like a sales gimik. Been fishin this lake for over 14 years never seen a smallmouth in here. Also largmouth fishing is not good at all cheack the species the spotted bass fishing is ok. Not to mention the lures said to be used are not producers on this lake it is a hard to fish finess lake i know this place! So come on guys if your gona post a report lets KEEP IT REAL!!! I am here when you say your fishing and i know when your lieing
City: richmondTips: jus go out fish hard have fun and keep the fish stories to a minimun

Shasta Lake
-
Water Temp: 65-70
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Very hot day on the lake. Thought I would avoid the boat traffic, but I guess people don't work any more. Worked a stretch near Lakeshore, mostly rocks and some brush in the water. Fish seemed to be holding in little pockets. Slow finesse tactics seemed to work the best. If you don't die from the heat you may from catch too many small fish.
City: Santa RosaTips: Bites can be slow to come, stick to the area you catch one and a bigger fish will show up. Shade pockets or inner covers seemed to be the ticket. Have fun!!
