Report: Sometime we all just need to talk less and fish what we know. That is what's wrong with a Bass fisherman, to caught up trying to be the next guy. We are all Pro's until we found out the guy that won stuck to the basic's. Bummer ey?

Report: Nice day on the lake. On at 11am and off before 2pm and the wind. One 3 on a drop shot and lost two others before I could see them. All fish hit a good distance outside of marked bait. Used a white spoon for a bit and the salmon seemed to appreciate it.

Report: Went out of Stockton into 14 mile and fished very very slow with watermelon/red stick bait. The fish were out of current and extremely close to wood/tules and had to let bait sit. Only 5 fish between 0800-1300 total about 13#.

Report: Hey Ray, all of the above what AB stated and my brother and I also throw senkos in watermelon/red flake at the docks, dropshot white or wtrmln/rf 4" yamamoto cut-tail worms at the rockpiles. Slow roll 3/8" spinnerbaits also works but we generally stick with the plastics. Increase the worms to 6" sometimes gets bigger fish but we've gotten 2-5lbers on 4" worms just the same. They're decent but at Clear Lake, they're not the big ones. Clear Lake has your homestate quality bass! Good fishin!!
      City: folsom

Tips: All of the above...you'll get more tips when you hit the launch and the water.

      Water Temp: 50-52

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Waiting for a day without rain and seizing the moment on Monday was worth the wait. Water was flat and begging to be fished with only a couple other boats on the entire lake. Started working points outside and entering Potters using a tube and quickly switched to a baby brush hog that immediately produced a nice fat spot. That opened the floodgate to one of the best days in many years at Oroville while boating only one over the slot, all others would have been welcome in any tournament as they were fat and healthy and eating. Most fish were taken in 20-30 feet off points or any type of cover when you worked your bait slow and some were popping the bait while others were a mere pressure bite.
      City: Wheatland

Tips: Lighter color tubes and bruch hogs and work it really slow. Everytime I let it soak while unspooling some line, when I picked up the rod a fish was on the bait. Good to have Oroville bite back on in force.

Report: 4 of us went to Sonoma out of our kickboats. Fished main lake and we all caught a mixed bag. Smallies were the main fish as thats what we were targeting. Caught fish as shallow as 2 ft and as deep as 40. Mainly dropshot, jigs and senkos. 1 Steelhead caught on a blade. Was a perfect day on the water for end of the year!
      City: Santa Rosa

Tips: No reaction baits, all finesse. Dropshot, jigs and senkos. No distinct colors was very random. Look for rocky bluffs with shallow waters and deep dropoffs near by. Use your electronics they were key!!

      Report: Date: Sun, 25 Dec 2011 14:58:27 -0800

Fishing this past weekend was pretty tough. On Friday I went out with my son, my daugther-in-law and my wife on my son's boat. It was sunny and the water was like a mirror but it was cold. The water temperature was 51.6 degrees and there was no trout activity at all. We stayed out for a couple of hours with no luck not even a nibble! The following day I took my boat out and stayed close to the launch ramp. I trolled for awhile using different lures with no success. I decided to try worming for bass. I went to a location where I knew the structure under the water was a mountain from 30 feet to about 8 feet and I walked the worm up the mountain on the shade side very slowly and caught two bass but they were not keeper size. Hoping to have better luck next weekend. I wish everyone Happy Holidays.
      'til next weekend.........................................................good fishing!!!!

      Water Temp: 55

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Went out on Christmas day to run my boat for a potential buyer, raining like crazy while I am waiting for him so I pull under a covered marina, older wood with old boats to stay out of the rain. Fished for about an hour flipping a green punpkin/bk flake senko with a nose weight under the boats.
First bite, rod loads, I set, fish boils and runs and breaks me off; could not stop it.

I re-tie and a few flips later rod loads and I set and put a 4+ in the boat.
Flip a few more docks and put a 3+ in the boat.
Keep going and put two more both in the 2.5 range.
All in less then an hour....
      City: Desert Hot Springs

Tips: Slow, flip, shake and let sit; dont be in a hurry they will just load up.

Report: Hey Ray-right now, your best bet is to use electronics and find fish on offshore rock piles and ledges, though you will find fish suspended around deepwater docks. There are various opinions on techniques to use, but one thing I've been successful with is to either darthead (for suspended fish) or T-rig (fish on the bottom) a very small black, pumpkin or natural shad curly tail worm and drop it on graphed fish, then just stay on top of 'em for awhile. Use the minimum amount of weight you need to get down to them. Also, the Duh Spoon in morning dawn color is a good one, as is yo-yo-ing an LV 500 when you find a school. Big swim baits and deep cranks fished slowly across points will work as well. Hope that helps.

      Water Temp: 53.4 to 56.7

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: The lake looks like it has come up 15 to 18 feet since the last major storm. The bass havent seem too let up on hitting jigs and drop shot rigs in 18 to 35 feet of water bass range from 11 inches to 4 pounds. Football head jigs in 3/8 or 1/2 oz Pumpkin green/black green crystal Trailer used were 208 yamamoto watermelon red/black flake single tail 5" grubs. The bass were around or on rock piles on flats and dropoffs. BE CAREFULL ALOT OF FLOATING WOOD AND SMALL LOGS CLEAR AROUND THE LAKE. Trout fisherman were few and far between today.
      City: madera ca

Tips: Fish slow the bite is soft bass are scattered in some areas. If you can keep in contact with the structure your fishing you will catch bass. Also the bass are on the flats in 18 to 25 feet and long cast seem to work good with a slow crawl with a jig back to the boat.

      Water Temp: 52

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Merry Christmas everyone!! I went to the lake this morning for a few hours with a former student of mine and good Oroville pro - Kelly Eagleton. He bought my previous Ranger boat - weird riding my former boat! After two days of fog and little rain, it seem the bite had slowed a some after a good bite earlier in the week. We fish main body and north fork for about 9 or 10 fish - all about 2 to 2 1/2 lbs. Lost several. I got some jig and worm fish and Kelly wormed all of his and one on a spinnerbait. That bait was not on for Kelly today. All our fish were 5 to 30 feet. I was most impressed with the girth of these spots - they are eating!!
      City: Yuba City

Tips: Bites were on points but also on flats near points. It was interesting to pattern fish on deep and shallow structure. A creek channel or two we worked did not produce a bite.

Report: Started my A.M off in skiers cove graphing baitfish, jigging duh spoon and tossin deep divin cranks around points. NEVER got a bite. Happen to have a couple dozen LG minnows, so I went deep off the bottom and under a float about 6-7 feet. NOTHIN.
      City: Napa

Tips: It was a real nice day up there. I did talk with a few guys who were picking up a few fish jiggin. As well as a few guys getting them on drop shot. Lots of guys catching good numbers of trout.

Report: Day was rainy and windy. Fished breaks and rocky points. Caught a 4lb. largemouth in 4 ft. water off of a break the first five minutes of the day. Using a suspending rip bait. No other fish, missed one off a rocky point. Tried to fish the bridge pilings but it was too windy to stay on them.

Real anxious to get out on the norht end of Trinity. I'm looking for a contact person in Trinity Center to get boat ramp info. I talked to a lady at the Jaktre store and she informed me that they are closing their doors on 12/31. This is who I used in the past. Any ideas.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Had a few extra hours so I went to the south end of Trinity. Atempted to fish the rock bluffs in Papoose but the wind was blowing too hard to finesse fish. Yo yoed a lipless and spinnerbait with no luck. Made my way to Covington Mill to get out of the wind and rain. Less wind but continued rain. Fished creeks channels with suspending rough, jigs, and plastics. Nothing.

Bentrod-Couldn't launch at Trinity Center on 12/21 due to a report that there was snow on the roads in Trinity Cneter. I went to Wiskey Town Lake and caught a 4lb. largmouth within the first five minutes of the day off a break. Caught it on 4 ft. water with suspending Rapalla. Only other action was a hit on a suspendign Rapalla against a rocky bank.
