      Water Temp: 64.5

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Left solo out of Rivers End Marina about 7:30am. Got two Black Bass on top water near the trailer park. Nice fish about 4#s each. Then went over to I think it is called Willows ski area and got two stripers. Both came on a Spook. One was barely legal the other was about 7#s. Spent the rest of the day fishing black plastic, texas rigged,8" worms and white spinnerbait. Ended up with 10 black bass and the two stripers for the day. Biggest Black was 5#s and came off the edge of the weeds on the black worm. Slow day !! The other boats I talked to were having a slower day.. The fish were picking up the plastics very light. You really had to pay attention.
      City: BRISBANE

Tips: Pay attention to how you work everything. top water splash it then stop it . Plastics work the edges of the weeds real slow.

      Water Temp: 66

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Launched out of Russo's and went striper fishing with no success at all. Decided to fish for blacks and caught about a dozen fish witht he biggest going 6.5 lbs. Threw pig and jig and Yamamoto Kreatures in 0 to 6 feet of water.
      City: Oakley

Tips: Keep at it and if you're not catching 'em up good, move to a new spot.

    • By

      Water Temp: 63

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: fished south delta, tough tough bite both from the clear sky post front conditions and the time of year. swam a shallow LC fat body crank in ghost shad slowly over the tops of the weeds for a couple of small ones (but they were fat), one on a really well built custom black 1/2oz "Cliff H" jig with blue pork trailer. fronts and tops of the weedlines continue to produce the fish. broke off a good one on a Cliff H jig too, but ain't that always the story...
      City: Sonora

Tips: stay in front of the weedline. black jigs w/blue trailers. wonder how well a heavy C-rig would do coming thru the grass and down the ledge??

    • By

      Water Temp: 67 degrees

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: My first trip to Camanche in about a year. Wow, could not believe how low the lake was...standing timber everywhere. Tough bite overall. A few short fish. Four keepers for about 8lbs. Three on jigs, one on a crank. All fish caught by 10am, dead after that. Did graph some fish as well as baitfish. Drop shot down into them and nothing. Tried dropping into several areas like this and nothing. I agree with most reports for all the lakes, water temp has to come down to 60 for the fall bite to turn in. Couple other guys on the lake had about the same results.
      City: Sacramento

Tips: Keep at it and be patient till that fall bite turns on.

      Water Temp: 67.5

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Got on the water around 1pm and headed for the off shore dyke 8 area. Metered a ton of bait and fish in the 20-40ft range but no takers. We then went to the dam and picked up 4 shakers (less than 1 pound) on the left side of the dam in 20 feet of water around 3pm. Around 4:30 we proceeded to the area between Beals Pt and GB launch and began metering some fish (30-45 feet). Picked up 3 nicer sized fish up to 3 lbs. My buddy, Matt (aka Mateo), hooked a Rainbow Trout on the dropshot on it's way down!(pumpkin worm) We put the fish (14-16 inches)in the live well thinking we may eat it but ended up releasing it to fight another day. All in all, a decent day. Weather was great and no wind.
      City: Rocklin

Tips: All fish were caught on the drop shot. We tried spinners, crawdads and lipless cranks but the fish (come to find out) were deeper and finicky.

      Water Temp: 62

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished out of Disappointment slough and it was appropriately named during this trip. On water 7:30AM-1:30PM and no topwater, blades, crankbaits or plastic bite. Fished 0-30 feet.I have caught at least a few fish whenever I go out to the Delta and consider myself a decent fisherman (who used to fish tourneys down in San Diego) and figured I could catch at least a few fish but I didn't get a single bite. The only fish I saw were graphed (a ball of bait in 15' with fish all around it). They wouldn't take blades or plastic.

Tips: Don't ask me... I have no clue.

    • By

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: We started fishing Saturday morning early with a sunny fall day. I had a tough time finding a bite and didn't catch the first one till 12:30 (ouch). we ended up catching 10 for the day with the largest at 5 lbs 12oz on a super spook. Sunday was another tough day with the same weather conditions another beautiful day. We caught 8 for the day with another 5lbs 12 oz on a brown and purple jig. Both days we had between 17 and 18 lbs for 5. On Monday a small front moved through with showers and we caught 9 fish with the largest at 4 lbs 11oz on watermelon red brushhawg. On Tuesday it rained hard most of the day and we had are best day for numbers with 17 fish with one 4lbs 8oz on a watermelon candy worm. We probably would of caught more fish but I spent a lot of time the first couple of days trying to feed them a frog.
      City: Winston

Tips: Fish rock piles south and mid lake with Brown and purple football jigs,Shakey heads, drop shot, brushhawgs. Watermelon/Red,MMIII, There are still fish shallow on docks and tules. Good Luck

      Water Temp: 63

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I hosted a BASS tournament out of the State Park, It was the Belly Boat Club from Santa Rosa. Andrew and I did the weight in and the BBQ. The weights were from 11 lbs to 21.0 lbs. The anglers drive there trucks around the lake and drop the one man pontoon in and fish in that area, then move on around the lake.
Taking to some of them drop shot, senkos, lizards and brush hogs worked. They keep a converted ice chest (live well) on the pontoon with airaders until weight in time.
I fish out of a bass boat, their space is small but cheeper. Good luck have fun
      City: Rocklin

      Water Temp: 57-67

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Yes the water temp is correct, I found water from 57-67 through out the day. My Brother Benny came down from Oregon and I brought my 3 year old son Brandon up for some fall bassin at Clear Lake. On Friday it rained until 3:30 and than the bite pick up with around 10 fish to 3.5 lbs on Zoom watermellon Red flake 7" paddle tails in 6 inches to 2 feet of water, I kid you not. I had a 3.5lb fish hit my lure and I was so shallow my trolling motor was stuck on a rock. I got my biggest fish on Sat AM, a 4.12 lb on a 5" Watermellon Senko in again about 1 foot of water off of rocks, we got about 12 fish to 4.12 but when the sun came up the bite slowed down and you had to work for them, the cool thing was I got me first swim bait fish but he was only 2.5 lb but I was still happy, I have thrown that 3:16 Mission fish 5 times for 20-30 min and gave up, this time I got one. I spoke to a guy named Shawn who will be fishing the FLW in 2 weeks and he said he was catching swim bait fish to try it and I am glad I did, I finally broke the swim bait skunk.(Thanks Shawn!)On Sunday the am bite was dead for us and we had to work hard for fish, we got them on crank bait, Senko, Aarons magic robo's on drop shot and I got my 2nd swim bait fish, it was a nice fat 3.5 lb, I am hooked on swim baits now!!
4:00 pm Sunday, dropped off my brother at the dock to head back to Oregon and picked up my Brother in law that lives in Clear Lake, while I was at the dock I saw Shawn (FLW Guy) and his family again and he said he is still doing well with the swim bait so I went and bought a Huddle knock off and I went and tossed it for 30 min while my brother in law tossed drop shot, he got 3 fish and I got one hit on the swim bait and very tired:) so I picked up the drop shot rod and got 2, my brother got 5 before we called it a day but he got a 5.3 on a 4 inch drop shot, I catch 2 to 3 lbers on 9 inch swim baits and he catch's 5 lbers on 4 inch wimpi worms.
      City: San Jose

Tips: Watermellon anything, any style of fishing (Texas rig, shakie head, I think the wacky rig is the best way drop shotted though). Swim baits, mission fish 3:16 or huddle knock off. Rapala DT 10 shad color. Catch and release so my 3 kids can take their kids fishing:). God bless!

      Water Temp: 65

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Beautiful day, clear skies, no wind, but a tough day. Only 3, fished from 7:15 to 14:00.
1 minnow early AM on a small silver and black Zara Spook. One dink on a silver and black DT10 crank.
Nothing till around 1300, then caught a 3#r+ on
a 6" Senko in watermelon and red flake. Just outside the weeds off of a mud bank in 20'.
Water was full of algae "globs". I tried my old reliable DT Hula grubs with not a bump for many hours. I'll blame the frontal passage on the previous day (Friday).
      City: Monterey

Tips: Might have better luck fishing the falling barometer vice the rising now that the winter storm pattern seems to be setting up.

    • By

      Water Temp: 72

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: John and I fished from 10:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Wind was very light until about 1:15 p.m. when it began blowing fairly hard (10-15 mph) from the north. I spent first two hours trying to find the lunkers that move up and cruise the mud bank when the wind comes up...couldn't stick'em while fishing above the thermocline (which was at 26 feet)with swimbiats, plastic worms, and jigs, although there were many fish showing on the graph down to that depth. Then, when the wind did come up, I switched to buzzbaits and a Zara Spook, but couldn't get bit on the windward shore like I did week before last. I'm guessing the bigun's were there but they didn't want what I was throwing at them (could they be getting conditioned to the buzzbait?). John caught a nice 2 1/2 lb bass on a white buzzbait off a windward rocky bank.
      City: Monterey

Tips: Keep moving and make a lot of casts! If what you're using isn't working, try something else.

      Water Temp: 68

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Ditto!! Yesterdays trip to Berryessa was very similar to Monday except for numbers - 31 bass, 1 crappie, and one TROUT?!! I really enjoyed showing my clients how to fish the DUH! spoon and they both caught bass for the first time using that technique. Drop-shotting Basstrix flashtrix minnows was just as effective as the previous trip. Biggest bass was a largemouth (skinny) a bit over 2 1/2 lbs. We found two more schools of shad in the narrows and that was the key. Last trip targeted the 38 to 45 foot depth, but yesterday the bass seemed to be around 45 to 55 feet. That was interesting since it was cloudy most of the day. I thought the bass might move up. The black shad 3/4 oz Duh spoon was again the top producer, but morning dawn also worked well. The smelt colored flashtrix 4" minnow was best drop-shot bait, on a #2 Gami EWG hook. We always looked for the steeper banks where the creek channels were close by.
      City: Yuba City

Tips: During both of my Berryessa trips this week, I cautioned my clients to keep their rod tips closer to the water. If you are spooning or drop-shotting and you get bit with your rod tip too high, the lifting style of hookset you need is hard to accomplish when the power of the rod kicks in while it is over you head. The power of the hookset needs to be at the 9 to 11 o'clock position. Sometimes I work my rod in too high a position and loose fish because of it. It was really fun yesterday to again watch the line rise when lifting the spoon and sinking when dropping it. It is so cool when you drop you rod tip and the line just freezes in place. I love it! Just reel down and set!!! I noticed on my Lowrance X-26 some bass off the bottom so I lifted the spoon about 8 to 10 feet off the bottom and twitched it. That worked too! Spooning is usually best during bright conditions. Yesterday afternoon however, as heavy cloud cover built in, the spooning got better. Interesting.

      Water Temp: 66-67

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Water is down 3 feet from last visit. Is that 1 foot a week? Took out a newbie to spoon fishing as he wanted to try to learn this technique. The weather was clear to start but ended with isolated showers. We fished from 6:30 ( lake opens ) until 6:30. It started very well with my partner catching a nice 3 pound largemouth on his first cast. I caught a nice fish on the huddleston ( ROF 12 ) and than switched up to a Black Dog Lunker Punker which got smacked in the first two wiggles of my first cast. I was caught offgaurd and missed the fish. My partner then scored a very nice smallmouth and then things died down a bit. I decidid to travel along a similar path to my last visit and after an hour it was evident that the smallmouth and largemouth had vacated the easy topwater pattern however I was fishing little george type baits (Revenge) and enjoying no success either. Hmmm? After a brief stop in the marina we went out to try and find the spoon fish. I had a spot that had produced before but there was no bait and no love there so we high tailed it out of there to try some more areas. We eventually found a spoon bite off shore and did well enough. Scoring the usual mixed bag of largemouth, smallmouth, redear, crappie, a cat fish that staightened out my partners hook ( but left the telltale slime coat on his line ) and another of the 20 pound carp that I seem to have a nack at snagging. We were having a good time when I decidid to have some fun and try the Punker again while my partner was fishing deep I laid the bait up into about 2 feet of water and had to rip it away from a very persitant Osprey at least a half a dozen times. When it finally gave up I got the cast back where I wanted it and Whack! Scored a nice heafty largemouth for my troubles. We caught fish on spoons, spinner baits, Cranks (I had two on my bait at one time when I got it in!)dropshot, senkos, silver buddies,Revenge tail spinners Huds, and the Punker. It was down right fun to be fishing and we hated to go but it was dark and they kind of insist that you get off the water.
      City: Ojai

Tips: Smaller fish on the spoons however I dumped several 2+ pound smallmouth right at the boat. There was a time during our day that it was best to not drop the spoon all the way down but rather half way down as the fish were suspended in 25 feet while sitting in 50. I'm sure just about anything you choose to use will catch you a fish but if you want some bigger fish you'll have to go with the bigger baits. I hope I can come back soon as it's always worth the drive.

      Water Temp: 55-64

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Took a good fisherman out Wed. I was concerned about the air pressure going up and down and back up in just 2 days. We fished half a day from noon to 5pm. The bite was very soft to nil for about 3 hours. The last 2 hours was much more productive with 35 bass, but all were in the bracket. Water temps were in the low to mid 60's but droped to 55 in the incoming water of the West Branch and the North Fork. The bite should pick up as the air pressure stablizes.
      City: Paradise

Tips: We were on lots of fish but had to keep moving to find feeding bass. Found them on outside walls and points from 1ft to 30ft. Most effective was Gitzit tubes clear sparkle and motor oil colors.
