Water Temp: 68
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: fished lower Sac Arm Sept 30 and Pit Arm Sept. 31. Temps are dropping and the shad bite is coming on. Picked up only spots up to 1.5 max, but lots of 'em. Drop shot and S & P grubs, with a few early on top water. Bigger ones out to 15 ft. deep on steep rock slopes and points
City: Elk GroveTips: drag it slow and go light as possible. Secondary ramp at Jones Valley worked fine. Sugarloaf and Bridge Bay are your only other options.

Berryessa Lake
-
Water Temp: 71
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: I took myself to beautiful Berryessa yesterday to check on the fall bite. It really hasn't happened yet as the water is still above 70 degrees. That may change this weekend! I did a lot of looking around since the lake hasn't been this low in years - about 23 feet. I really tried to get the topwater going but they were mostly up to 1 1/2 lbs. I did spoon a few and the rest were drop-shotted and split-shotted. No real worm color stood out. I used the Basstrix flashtrix minnow for my drop-shot fish. I caught all three species but the biggest was only a little over 2 lbs - a largemouth. I did get a hit on a Huddleston swimbait, but I missed it. I arrived about 10 am so as to fish the evening bite, but the cold front wind really spoiled my plans. I saw some small fish chasing bait in the narrows, but no quality. Just waiting for the water to cool.
City: Yuba CityTips: I found most of my 18 to 20 bass on structure relating to the shore and some off-shore ledges and island tops. As usual, finding the bait is a key. Any finger of land jutting off a point - that has a deep ledge or dropoff - around 20 to 40 feet deep, is a good place to start. Berryessa has hundreds of points that really go nowhere - shallow running points. Look for something steep. Bass will suspend off the many walls at Berryessa too. They will take topwater - soon!!!!!

California Delta
-
Water Temp: 65
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Caught an early morning bite using my Home-made Arkie Jigs(like "Whadda JIgs") but only about .50 cents a piece to make. Middle river area showed it's stuff, bite was slow until change, then whammo.
City: TracyTips: Black jigs with a little red , orange did the trick. 1/2 oz in the open and heavier ones for the thicker stuff.

Don Pedro Lake
-
Water Temp: 71
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Went up to 'ol Pedro again and slayed 'em, Freaks! I watched another Kevin Van Dam video on spinnerbait'n and I applied what I done watched to my time on the water. Again, threw earthtone colored (you know, browns, olive green etc.) spinnerplugs all day near the dam. You gotta count'em down 1,2,3 and so on 'til ya hit "10", then slowly crank that handle. About three turns and "BAM" just like Emeril live, 16" spotted bass like they's was goin' out of style. Caught 14 for a total of about 21 pounds today.
City: PixlonTips: Let that bait flutter on a loose line down on a 10 count, then milk it back slowly......good luck........I'm out!!!!

Folsom Lake
-
Water Temp: 68
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fished from 3:00 to 6:30 pm first hour and a half no bites throwing top water and jigs. Finally stuck a two pounder on the jig across from the G B launch. Then looked for rockpiles around the peninsula, if you find the piles you will find the fish.I ended up with seven fish, the largest being the first two pounder. Probably 8.5 lbs for best five. All fish on jigs, 4'' hula grubs.
City: SactoTips: With 8.5 lbs I'm not qualified to give advice.
P.S. I'm going to miss Jimbo, he reminded me of my Grand Pappy ( spent 5 years in prison for perjury ) -
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Water Temp: 68
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Fished the FBT TOC on Folsom and the Delta this past weekend. Came in 3rd overall. On Folsom, we were one of a few teams to weigh in a limit. Most did not weigh a limit. Our fish came between 25 and 35 feet on a 1-ton jig (1 ounce football head jig) with a 4" twin tail Yamamoto Hulagrub in Green Pumpkin. We managed to catch 8 keepers on this rig. Tried dropshot, spoons, ripbaits and spooks without success although this is my favorite time of year for spooning at Folsom. Our limit was not very big because we never stuck a kicker fish but it kept us in the TOC chase.
City: Fair OaksTips: Fished the 1-ton off main lake points close to the main channel coming out of the south fork. In view of the 5mph BS imposed by government, we felt it was important to keep a line wet so we didn't run far from Browns. Had the limit by 9 AM.

Report: For those of you who do not believe my claim that Jim Scarlet is a LIAR, here's a quote from a report right here, which I have left for all to see by the way, that proves this:
"I can't send to you because I( have been bl0ocked by Cooche." Ya see, I banned him, he said so himself!
City: OakleyTips: Jim Scarlett, you are a liar! Have a good life!

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Jim Scarlet, you are a LIAR!
I indeed did first ban you as Wooch!
You begged and pleaded with Tony Stoltz for 2 months to let you back in. Upon doing so, it was stipulated only if you used yer real name and participated in such a fashion that the Forum is designed for. Your first day back, you went over board and violated Forum Police. You then sent nasty PMs to Tony, Gator and myself calling us out(the one ya sent me is now public domain at the top of the main Forum). Tony then BANNED you permanantly. You did not request it, that is a flat out lie, we have all the e-mails and PMs ta prove this fact. Further more, I have NOT taken any claim towards doing the recent banning.
City: OakleyTips: You are a habitual LIAR! Have a good life!

Sonoma Lake

Water Temp: 67
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Tried the creeks looking for a reaction bite; water is low and clear and no fish to be found. After a few hours of frustration, moved to the main lake body and banged three fish within 20 minutes on 3/4 oz football jigs with white trailers. Biggest fish ran 5.25lbs. Other two less than 2 lbs. Deep in trees in 35-40 ft of water. Negative: Very, very windy on main body today. Positive; I was the only bass boat on the lake!
City: SebastopolTips: Stay on main body until fish push shad up into creeks and flats.

Berryessa Lake
-
Water Temp: 68
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Took some new bass fisherman out today and we struggled with only 3 over 12 inches. So I decided to run and gun covering a lot of water and looking for school bass. We found some and they were feeding on shad. Wide open spoon bite for 30 mins. caught over 25 fish, could have caught more but I was popping the fish so they could swim back down.
City: San brunoTips: Fall days could be a hero or a zero. Look around a lot with your electronics.

California Delta
-
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Tough bite until tides came in. Got two on a crank and that's it for reaction bites. Fished topwater all day. Nothing. Had to slow way down to even get bit. Found concentrations of smaller fish dropshotting in deeper water. At least they were keepers!
City: SacramentoTips: The clear water held more fish than stained. Look for areas with current and fish the breaks if things get tough.

Collins Lake
-
Water Temp: 71
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: I made the short trip to Collins this afternoon, starting to fish about 4:15 pm. I started doing the right thing immediately - spooning!! I was using a Blade Runner 3/4 oz spoon, fishing from 25 to 40 feet. I fished main lake structure and one point. I landed 11 spots to 2 lbs 6 oz and one crappie! I also did some drop-shotting with Basstrix plastic minnows and landed one more spot. My best 5 were pushing 10 lbs. As the sun set I tried topwater with no takers except one blowup on a buzzbait. The water is still to warm for a good topwater bite - but ya gotta try!!!
City: Yuba CityTips: The lake continues to see the shad population increase - great news! Some of the spots were stuffed. In spite of some rain, the lake is still dropping a little. I threw jigs a little, no bites.

Don Pedro Lake

Water Temp: 70
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Hit the impoundment on the primative wall throwing earth tone spinnerbaits. Most fish were caught on the 10 count. Immediate hook ups on decent 2pnd fish. Bright crankbaits also brought home dinner.
City: PixlonTips: Fish are up tight and few and far between. I caught most of my fish below water and above the bottom.

New Melones Lake
-
Water Temp: 64-68
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: WOW! Started in Horseshoe with #16 Huddy 1st light this morning and scored 2 fish, bam bam, shaz-am! The 1st fish was 4.8 the second fish was 8.9. Points, points, points. Missed 2 more fish (thought I would leave somtin fur ya all). After the sun came out went to the main Lake fishing the submerged islands and never caught a fish on the Hud, but I did stick several pines and oaks. Hearing how tough it's been I tried and scored on the baby brush hog (water melon/ red flake) drop-shotting in 30' to 50' off the deep river bluffs on those islands. a few largys, but the bigger fish were the spots up to 2-1/2 pounbs. After pounding the main lake humps I traveled south of the Dam, still main lake/ski-cove entrance and spooned some more fish on a 3/4 oz hopkins. My best fish was a 3.5 largy. This lake is on FIRE!!
City: San JoseTips: After the sun comes up, watch that graph for bait!

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Took a trip to Willows on the outlet, spinnerbaits were my best bet, two nice fish. Thge rest of the afternoon I threw spooks and poppers with mixed results. Total about fifteen pounds.
City: joaquinvilleTips: Get your fish out of Franks now and move out while housing prices are stable. Hear they are already dropping. Damn the dams.

Shasta Lake
-
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Went up for the week and had a great time. Caught fish almost everyday. Getting cold at night, so the early morning bite was pretty slow for me. The afternoon seemed to be mt best times. Picked up a lot of 2 to 3 lb spots mostly and a few smallmouth off of rocks. Most fish came on cranks, got some on a drop shot with a shad imitation.
City: FERNLEY,NVTips: Cranking working best for us. Mostly shad pattern.
Small swim baits also. Great time to be at the lake, very little boat traffic right now & still warm days. -
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Bridge Bay still open but have a 15 dollar charge to launch there! I went to centimudi today and while I couldnt launch off the ramp you can drive to the side and go to the old paved road and launch with ease. Rainbows and Largemouth were both bitting heavy today about 50-80 ft down it was a great day!
City: AndersonTips: If you dont have a down rigger I advise a Pink Lady to dive your lures!

Berryessa Lake

Water Temp: 70.4
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: In the last weekend of September the water has cooled down to seventy degrees and the lake is down about twenty-three feet. I went out with Joe on Friday early morning and there was a definite chill in the air. Our first stop were the points by the BOR. This fishing trip (besides catching fish) was to show Joe some good fishing spots that continually produce. The main part of the lake was mostly whitecaps so our plan was to hug the shoreline heading towards the vineyard. We trolled past a great spot and Joe brought in a nice 2 lb bass on a crankbait that only goes down about a foot. We pasted another point by the Ranch house and he hooked another bass. We decided to try throwing plastics at the vineyard. Joe used brass and glass with a dark senko and after a few misses he landed another bass. We tried our luck behind Big Island and then our last stop was my favorite cove where Joe caught a nice size crappie. On Saturday Mike and his wife Jeri joined me and we fished only the west side of the lake due to extremely high whitecaps. They learned how to use brass and glass, crankbait, and topwater baits and have confidence now after landing their first fish. That evening Nadar and his cousin joined me along the rock wall of my favorite cove. Nadar third cast landed a nice bass. He used a double jointed six inch Rapala. It was so cold that evening that we headed in early. The boys fished from the dock when we got back and landed a seven pound catfish. The following morning I caught a kokanee on a crankbait along the rocks. As you can see it's starting to lose it scales and turn a little red. I think the lake will start to turn in the next four weeks if this cold weather continues and then the fishing should get better and better. 'til next week.................good fishing!!! www.fishingconnection.net If you have any fishing stories you would like to share email me at bestguide@hotmail.com or call me at 650-583-3333.
City: NapaTips: get dressed warmly,in the sun still has a chill in the air, reaction bait best this week.
