Clear Lake
-
Water Temp: 95.6
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: My wife and I fished Clear Lake on the 25th and 26th. Unfortunately the "high numbers" bite wasn't there for us. We struggled during the day with only a few coming from dropshotting in 20 feet of water, the preferred color was mmIII. The evening was a different story, after the 100+ temp. subsided we went south toward redbud and jago. The bite got really good for us at about 7:45 mostly reaction fish on VOO-DOO baits in white. My wife Amy got her biggest fish so far 9.1# on a steep rocky bank, most of the fish in the evening were chasing shad near the shore line.We ended the day with about 30 fish. The trip was salvaged after that night but the next morning was just as tough as the first, I talked to a few other guys and found out we weren't the only ones that had bad timing coming this week.
City: placervilleTips: After several days with 100+ temps. the water is boiling hot at 95 degrees in alot of areas, the fish are not holding on to structure remotely near the shoreline in the day time, making it a little difficult at times to locate. With a six mo. pregnant wife and almost two year old aboard my boat I wasn't able to put a lot of time in to establishing a plan, I was just happy to have got out there. When the sun goes down cover lots of water and watch for the bass chasing shad. Throw immitating lures and make the best out of the short window of opportunity.

Water Temp: n/a
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Found bass near shore on rocky banks near El Cerrito Point in Horseshoe Lake. Later in the day, moved to the christmas trees and caught a few more. Total for today - 7am to 12pm - 9 fish total - 7 largemouth - 2 smallmouth.
By the way, the biggest fish was a smallmouth, weighed 3lb 6 oz. All fish were caught on Rattletraps fished quite fast.
City: FremontTips: Fish fast and near shore. The fish are hungry now that the temperatues have cooled a little and they have moved to cover in 5 to 8 feet of water.

California Delta
-
Water Temp: hot
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Started early, pounding the banks with spooks for small fish here and there. Picked up a few dinks on a frog. Got sick of that so I moved to the Mildred Island area and got my pitch and flip bite going. Caught numerous fish just outside the tule line. Nothing bigger then 3.5 pounds, but a solid bite.
City: BrentwoodTips: Used double wide beavers and brush hogs pegged.

Folsom Lake

Water Temp: hot
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: I had an interesting day. First 4 fish of the day on the jig weighed 40+. It sucks that they were all catfish. 2 in the 5 to 6 pound range, one 14 and one that bottomed out a 15lb spring scale. All of the fish were on the same flat in 3-10 feet of water. Finally got my first bass when I went deep. Got 20 or so the rest of the day keying on offshore drop offs and rock piles. Top 5 were arround 14-15, not including the wisker fish. Hey Capt. Kev, How many non fishing reports have you submitted in the lately? Enough said, Practice what you preach.
Tips: "REPORT SUBMISSION RULES: Simply, let's keep it about fishing and reports of your day on the water." And reports of your day on the water. So if you are fishing and something else happens shouldn't it fall under the rules of the forum, such as to much boat traffic or unsafe conditions. The guy "Capt. Kev" that posts to complain about other peoples posts are violating the rules, not the guys that are adding details about their trip that are part of their experience on the lake. Take the and out of between fishing and reports then you are right Capt. Kev, but like you said, if you don't like it get the rules changed. My email is still the same if you would like to contact me. See you this winter Scott. FBL rules.

Trinity Lake
-
Water Temp: 80 degrees
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: I went to the lake on 07/22 and 07/23 to do some fishing with my family. It was the trip from Hell. My 6 year old son and I started off Sat. morning catching fish left and right. About 0930 my son accidently hooked his 3 year old sister just under her right eye with a jig head he had on his favorite Gitzit. The hook buried itself into her face. Once I got everyone calmed down I ripped into the Trinity Center Marina, dropped off my boat with total strangers and headed to the Trinity Center fire department. Once there we decided to have my daughter flown to Redding for treatment. This is not a fishing report but a Thank You note. I want to apologize for the wake I caused when I came into the marina, but also want to thank the nice people who took care of my boat and gear until I could return later to retrieve it. I also want to thank the Trinity Volunteer Fire Department for their quick response and the care they provided my daughter. I also want to thank the members of the Mercy Air Team that flew her to Redding and the Staff at Mercy Hospital Emergency Room who all treated me and my daughter with great compassion and concern. My daughter is recovering just fine thanks to the fine work from the people whom I have mentioned. You are all professionals, and very much appreciated by my daughter and my family. (she is still carrying the stuffed bear with her) Thanks Again and Thanks for all that you do for your communities. GOD SPEED.
City: EurekaTips: I serve in a Public Service profession and have to face challenging situations every day and am very thankful for the people in my profession. If you decided to read this story, I hope the next time you have an opprotunity to meet a Police Officer, Fire Fighter, or Emergency Medical personnel you take the time to thank them for their service and their sacrifises.

Amador Lake
-
Water Temp: 85-87
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Nobody on the water at 5:00am,i'ts to dam hot. Got in before the sun came up and found one top water bite with a little spook in shad colors. moved from the dan area to one of the back coves finding one of my first 5.0 plus largie. I saw a fish jump next to a tree, gave him a frog and bam.
Working down the bank and staying from 5-35 ft., using lizards and brush hogs picking up a few 2.0 pounders. Back in a cove on a point draging a watermellon/red flake in 25-30 ft got another 5.0 plus larggie. by 10am the sun was hot so time for lunch and home.
City: rocklinTips: get out early or late nite and work it deep and slow for the big fish. Take a friend and let them enjoy the heat too.

Casitas Lake
-
Water Temp: 84+-
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Hot! Two fish shallow in station on ribbits, one Ika fish off a rock face. All before 10am.
My friend had a great Ika and jig bite going on the west side of the big Island in the morning, but it shut down around noon. He got one jig fish on the sunken island after lunch, and then the bite shut down. Didn't throw any worms.
City: los angelesTips: Take water, try dropshotting oxblood worms in front of the reeds. Saw some fish caught that way, but was too stuborn to worm. Kills my back.

Clear Lake
-
Water Temp: 85+
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Thanks to my friend Len (aka BassLab) we braved the 107 degree temperatures to fish Clear Lake. It was worth it! We put about 40 fish in the boat by 1:30 and then gave in to the big red ball. The run back to the ramp felt like a drive through a blast furnace! Our best pattern was ledges near rock using brown/orange 3/8 oz jigs. We also flipped a number of fish using junebug gatordogs/brushhogs. We had a few fish on other baits including a buzzbait, chatterbait and crank. No real big fish, biggest about 4.5 with several solids 3+. Out best 5 would be close to 16 pounds. Good luck to the Ralliers, catching fish should not be a problem!
Pat
City: MarysvilleTips: 3/8 oz jigs brown orange with 180 grub on rock ledges. Flipping Tules with 4-5 ft of water on them. There is construction on Highway 20, could have 30 minute delays. This will last a while.

Hennessy Lake
-
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Got on the water about 6:00am. headed to this big underwater point north of the spillway. Caught 4 small (1-1.5lbs)largemouths and had one that looked about 6 pounds but she got off. Northwestern bank seems to be holding lots of Largemouth from 1'-25'. They are very finicky though.
City: St. HelenaTips: Dropshotting a grn/blk flake Wave Tiki Stik produced the most bites followed by a 1/2oz Strike King Brown/Black w/red fleck Jig with a 2 3/4" Yum Chunk on the trailer hook. I have also had success with a 1/4oz Berkeley Blade dancer rainbow trout color and in the mornings(hit or miss) Heddons Super spook Jr.
-
-
Pardee Lake
-
Water Temp: 80
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: In the middle of the heat wave, only fished in the morning. Caught small bass on 5 inch Yamamoto hula grubs in watermelon/red flake color. Depth was 25 to 30 feet. Looked for isolated structure in the southeast end and just fished that. Ramp kind of sucks though, not a steep incline which makes it hard to launch/retrieve solo. It's a two step process but that won't stop me from going there again!
City: MantecaTips: Throw a bigger bait to keep the small ones off!
-
-
Shadow Cliffs Lake
-
Water Temp: hot
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: went fishing by myself today (my wife took the kids went shopping) I decided not take my fly rod I just decided to try my new bait casting reel used a senko and a rip bait, caught maybe 10 good fish one of them was maybe 3 pounds.
City: livermoreTips: rainbow trout colored ripbaits and water-melon senkos.

California Delta
-
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Another solid day on the delta. 35-40 fish up to 3 pounds. We left a lot of our good water alone with the Sheriffs tourney coming up this weekend, but found good numbers in dissapointment with poppers and plastics. Had some huge swirls on the frog, but they would quite commit to it. the plastic bite was solid when the tide dropped. Very easy to find fish when the tide falls. They were on the outside weed lines chomping on the fry and shiners. Can't believe how much fry was in the water. Sometimes the fry would be non stop for hundreds of yards at a time. So much for people thinking the tourneys hurt the spawn.
City: RosevilleTips: Top water is the ticket right now. Whenever there is a ton of fry the topwater will be on. The bass are done protecting and are now eating their own.
-
Water Temp: 71
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Launched at first light and had a great day. Caught 20 fish, mostly 2-3# and couple of 4's. Fished the south end of Franks with Persuader Buzz Baits and R2S frogs. Tons of blow ups. Moved to little venice island on high tide and landed fish after fish on frogs. Did find some senko fish on the tule line on the west side of Franks. Offwater at 10:45am. Too Hot!!!!!
City: san ramonTips: Senko Watermelon, Buzz white, frogs all colors

-
Clear Lake
-
Water Temp: 85-95
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Yes the water was 95 deg in Jago bay, it literally burned your skin when you got in off the bank! you had to go out about 30 yards and go down 10 feet to get to 85 deg water. We fished 3 days and had to swim about every other hour or pass out. Caught between 15-25 fish per day to 4.5lbs well my partner did not land the 4.5 but he winked at us as he spit a beautiful black and blue jig at us!! The funny thing was the hotter it got the hotter the bite! when we left Sunday at 6:30 the fish were eating the prop off my boat, I had 4 fish in 5 casts.
City: San JoseTips: The tournament winner had 26 lbs with a 7.6 biggest fish on a brown jig, he caught all his fish on jigs, his name is Jeff and he ownes the new tackle shop at Red Bud. You had to be carefull what color you tossed, it had to be blue or black or red or purple or brown or green, do you get the hint? it did not matter, worm, jig, drop shot, dart head, Texas rig, carolina rig. Bring your kids with a drop shot with a 4 or 6 inch MM II robo worm and they will have a ball. the cool thing about a drop shot rig is the fish never swallow the hook so the fish never get killed. God bless and catch and release for the future of bass fishing and our little ones that will want to bring their kids fishing in the future.

-
Oroville Lake
-
Water Temp: 84
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: In spite of the heat, the fishing at Oroville continues to be great for medium size spotted bass, especially around submerged willow trees. I took some friends and we caught well over 50 bass including a few largemouth and a smallmouth. As usual, the fellow in the back of the boat caught the biggest - a nice 17 1/2 inch spot, caught drop-shotting a Basstrix plastic minnow - about 1:30 in the afternoon! In fact, that was the key after noon - drop-shotting 3" Basstrix minnows in the shade of flooded brush. Jigs and Magic worms worked well in the morning.
City: Yuba CityTips: I think the front that moved in from the south made the weather more comfortable but shut off the bigger fish bite. This happens most of the time, especially for the night bite. I could tell because there was no topwater bite whatsoever. Come and enjoy good fishing - just throw 4 to 6 inch morning dawn or green pumpkin worms - you will catch bass!
