      Water Temp: ?

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Float tubed beneath the helicopter pad from 10:30 - 4:00. Only caught one nice one. A four pounder that must have been cruising the shoreline and ran into my hook. The rest were all about 1-2 lbs. Lots of croppie and blue gill.

Tips: I caught the 4lber on a drop shot rig using a 4" watermelon senko. Also hooked a bigger fish on the same set-up, but he broke me off on a submerged tree. Almost grabbed him by hand though.

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Well...fished a couple of the usual places on Saturday. Impoundment and South Lake. Zoom baby brush hog on 7'0" spinning rod, Rapala #7 sinking minnow Countdown in gold and black color, Rapala #9 floating minnow in silver. Tossed a perch colored Booyah spinner bait/brass tandem willow leaf blades with the baitcaster. Had one bang on the sinking crankbait. That was it. All the millions and zillions of little fry seem to have moved out. (Can still see some of them flick the top of the water when the baits and occasional fish move through). Did see a cruiser, but didn't get it.

Cold and windy, overcast, foggy - not a very nice day, unfortunately. Some sun would have helped.
      City: Daly City

Tips: Talked with Carl at the Lake for a bit. Folks have been catching - just be patient and throw everything you have at them. If you have a float tube or small boat - your chances might improve considerably

      Water Temp: 72-74

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Cal and I head out of Lime Saddle again this AM. Looked for some topwater bites in and close tothe docks...had some short strikes but nothing on hook. The headed out to the North Fork some some real fun. Landed the first fish o' the day on a Chartruse Spinner (my first ever) and then landed one on a Jig (again my first ever). Cal started landing some on a crank bait. Cal landed a nice 3+l.bs LM on a Chartuse CB. Worked our way down the bank and decided 20 fish was our limit today then we would head home. I hooked up 2 noce ones on a rattle trap but both got off before the boat (that in NOT suppose to happen on a rattle trap but they did). A few miles later ran into some tourney guys and headed up the fork. Found a nice cove with fresh water but no bites. Headed up another finger and found some cooler water and started the finesse worms and caught one on my first cast. We proceed up the fork and landed our daily goal. All 20 fish in the boat with 25+ on but not landed. Total limit fish: 7 with a total weight of about 16lbs. Quanity not so good but the keepers meant something.
      City: Plumas Lake

Tips: The lake is overflowing at the edges (never seen it so full in over 9 years of fishing for June). Fish off the band with a Med-Deep Crank or Worm in the same area of depth and hold on tight. PS This will be Cal and I's last time out this summer as he is headed to catch Osama, Bro I'll miss ya and stay safe, see ya on the backside.

      Water Temp: 65

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: All those bass that Prunedale Bob caught last Wednesday still had soremouth today. John caught three bass (must not have been amongst the 87), but I got skunked...not even a bite.
We counted 14 boats on the water today and very few people were having any luck...Bob stuck so many there were few left that didn't have soremouth.
Hopefully, by next weekend, all those bass will be ready to bite again.
      City: Monterey

Tips: Avoid the lake for a few days after Prunedale Bob sticks so many bass.

      Water Temp: hot

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Guys, if there was ever a time to band together it is now. Assuming this is all true (coming from John, I have the fullest confidence in the accuracy of the information). Let me be the first to suggest that we stage our own "Tournament" on the day they plan Shock and Awe next year. Seriously, this has to stop. Yes, it is "leagal" to keep the accepted limit of bass. And yes, we all deep hook one once in a while and hope it will survive as we watch it swim away. Most of us think of that fish days later and hope it made it. But encouraging a large group of people to bring in the biggest limit they can, all at the same time, on the same day, in the middle of the spawn? And all the fish are killed? Come on now. That is just plain wrong. Let's keep up the chatter on this and put our heads together so this doesn't happen again. Maybe the management at SPI needs a lesson on the subject of how a bass tournament is run. Rule #1: DON'T KILL THE FISH!!! They say you pick your battles, This is one I'm willing to fight. This goes way beyond a couple of guys keeping a few trophy smallies. This is a planned, large scale slaughter of spawning large and smallmouth bass at Trinity Lake. That's all there is to it. Let's do something to protect the most beautiful place to fish in the entire state.
      City: Eureka

Tips: If anyone at SPI could be reached, I would be curious of their opinion on this. Maybe they just don't realize what they're doing is wrong. It could be as simple as that. My opinion: No matter what, those fish must be saved if they plan on doing this again next year.

Report: New to Uvas. I fished the center of the face of the damn 3-5PM. Saw some bass running around in the rip rap. Tried a red/white, and green/white strike king spinner.. nothing. Switched up to a carlina rigged pumpkin senko...nothing. Tried unweighted watermelon senko....nothing.

Came back later and sent on the bank near the big turn out before the parking lot. Used livers with sliding weight on one pole and anchove with slider for kitties. Nothing.

Tips: I have none. please share.

      Water Temp: 57-74

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Yes, the water temps are correct - but this report is over a 10 day period!! I was up at the lake with my wife for about 8 of 10 days for some relaxation, fun fishing, and two guided trips. The first trip was for about 5 hours with a husband and wife and one of their dads. We fished the east side and caught 15 smallies, mostly 1 1/2 to 2 lbs 11 oz! Guess who caught the biggest - that's right - the lady!! I had her split-shotting a 4" green pumpkin Berkley Power worm. We saw a few smaller bass on beds but didn't really try for them. The other fellow I guided Thurs caught 4 bass, but nothing over 13 inches and I only got bass to 2 lbs - about 6 or 7. It was the beginning of a cold front. This last Tues and Wed evenings - when there was some warm weather - the evening fishing was really good for quality - fishing alone I caught 5 or 6 smallies from 2 1/2 to 3 lbs 2 oz - all post spawners except one. Lots of 2 to 2 1/2's also - fishing the south side of the peninsula. Unfortunately, lots of unsteady weather and south wind most of the days I was there. Rick Tietz came up and fished with me on Tuesday and we did well (about 25) medium size fish - some sight fish. After he left - in the evening - the fish got bigger, har!!!! I found the evenings to be better than the mornings overall.
      City: Yuba City

Tips: The first week I saw many bass boats during the week (very few the second week) - I guess preparing for what I was told were 5 tournaments on June 3. I have no idea if that's true, but I have never seen anything like what I saw on that Sat morning - six bass boats fishing 2 adjoining points. Wow, now that's pressure!! If there are 100+ bass boats with full livewells releasing, at the dam ramp, tournament caught bass over a period or a month or so, is it time to think about a release boat - or asking anglers to take some and release them in some other areas? Maybe that's being done - I have been told it's not. One angler told me that after a tournament, an Almanor smallie can swim to the other end of the lake - the next day - where she was caught and return to her bed. That is one fast bass!! Anyway, I hope the new young anglers have the respect for a possible fragile fishery that some of us who have fished the lake for decades do. I just hope bass tournament folks will regulate themselves as this sport grows before a higher authority steps in to do it for them. Anybody remember Trinity Lake in the mid-70's? In fairness, many of those bass were killed for mounts. Gee, I wonder how many emails I will get now!!! Seriously, I just want future generations to be able to enjoy a wonderful fishery (trout included) with absolute killer scenery! On a positive note, I did catch a lot of normal early summer 8 to 12 inch smallies - a healthy sign! Good luck everyone!!!

Tips: Better fish were out in deeper water. Bring warm clothing - it still gets cold at night.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Bank bass anglers need to work the cove channels. The ones near the ranger station are narrow and deep..most. A bass tracker cannot go in deep cause the boat cannot turn back, maybe a canoe but not a big bass tracker. The spot is before the ranger station with rocks, tullies, and brushes. Once a while rangers gonna come by and check for licenses and big coolers for beyond the limit fishing, but they are just doing their job. The pattern is having 3 rods setup, one for spinnerbait, one for senkos, and the other for live worms with BIG sharp hooks. Then a wild card rod for large roosters and jigs. I use spinning rods and stout trigger rods, fish nothing below 10lb test lines, the smallies break anything below 10bs in a good fight near the brushes fill with branches, there's alot of dinks keepers, I throw them all back so they get bigger and give me a good fight next year. Good luck all to catching you first lunker PB bass!
      City: Concord

Tips: Watch out for rattlesnakes in the water when fishing the banks. There's alot of snake holes and be careful!

      Water Temp: n/a

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: I had a short work week and started fishing 12pm till sunset Friday. Beautiful day and crystal clear water. I didn't have time to hitch a boat so I fished bank all around the lake. Fished near the ranger station past Markley cove and saw 2 biggest basses ever, you won't believe this but 1 look to be 15lbs and the other 19+pounds, the 2 mamas were cruising the lake, it was about 1PM and Sunny bright, I'm sure both of them saw me staring at them but they weren't spook, this is from a water top view 6 feet away too. I caught a 2 pound catfish and it was on a stringer, they both stop and check the catfish out 2 feet away, I knew the only way to catch both is using a live trout on a treble hook! I shoulda bought my digital camera, 1 was about 25 inches and the other 30 inches, both had FAT bellies. I guess the big mamas are still spawning. They both swam away, I bank fished the same spot for the day, and to my surprise they both came back about 3pm. I threw live worms at them and they both ignored it like a plague, so did my other baits like senkos, lizards, cranks, swimbait -12inch too! They both hung out at the area for the rush of the day, the water was so clear it was amazing to see 2 biggest mamas hog of my life cruising the banks. The rest of the day had alot of small mouth dinks bite, all keepers, but I threw them back figuring they were males protecting their frys. The baby small mouths and largemouths were everywhere! The dinks keep nailing my cranks all day, they slam my 12 inch swimbait and kept attacking it even though they knew they cannot swallow it, they slam the side of the swimbait as I reel it close back to the bank. I caught a few keeper largemouth males, all the fish caught were males, I threw them back. I finish the day fishing for crappies, none in sight, I even threw the catfish back as I headed home at sunset. I just keep thinking about those 2 lunkers mama hogs with big bellies as I drove home.

      Water Temp: 68-72

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Fished Hog and Sycamore sloughs. Bought a 1/2 oz white chatterbait at the Hook the other day and decided to see how good it was. Threw it most of the day. Caught around 20 bass with it (largest 3 lbs). My partner and I ended the day catching 11 keeper size bass (most 1.5-2 lbs).
      City: Dixon

Tips: Need to check the thin wire swivel on the chatterbait on a regular basis. One time it opened up (would have lost the lure if I didn't notice it) and several times, it got bent. All fish were caught inside a weed line or near some sort of cover.

We were off of the lake about 11am. Water was a little dirty, fish are on a post spawn pattern. Nothing on cranks, ripbaits, and blades.

Report: Went out for a few hours in pontoon boat. Only caught one 1# pounder on a white and chartruce spinner bait. It was very windy and lots of skiers.

Tips: I fished a long the banks south of the boat ramp and around into the main lake. Caught the Dink in about 12-15' of water, back in a cove.

      Water Temp: 78.2

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: clear, little to no wind in the morning and hardly anyone out fishing for bass. Drop-shot and top water main lake. Bass busting on shad, threw top water - fish up to 2lbs. Action hot up to 0830, over a dozen fish, many lost. Moved into the coves, little to no action. Went north, picked up 3 smallies - all 2 lbs and one crappie about 1 3/4 lbs. All on light color senkos.
      City: South San Francisco

Tips: Fish were all on top in the morning. Look for bait activity and the bass will be under. Threw top water, sammy, in white. Later in the morning, senkos dead sticking.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Fished the last 1.5 hours of the day between the small dam and the main dam. Caught one about 3 + lbs - fat and healthy - on a watermelon/green/red senko and missed several short strikes (bluegills??) using a smoke/hologram senko. Talked to a few fellows catching fish drop shotting red roboworms. Fish seem to be in deeper water.
