Clear Lake
-
Water Temp: 53
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: I was glad to return to Clear Lake after a 7 week break. The bass didn't welcome me very nicely however. I have often found warm afternoons in Feb to be slow and today was no exception. I'm sure the good bite was in the morning - if there was one. I wanted to night fish a little and I was almost a hero. I lost a big bass about 9 pm near the Buckingham area and did land one about 3 1/4 lbs. I only caught 3 or 4 before dark and they were just 2 to 2 1/2 pounders. I know I have some homework to do but I still thought the bite was a bit tough!
City: Yuba CityTips: ALL my FEW bass were caught on Weapon jigs in about 10 to 20 feet - all around rock. Probably the most amazingly perfect night I have ever spent on Clear Lake in Feb. Didn't even need my snowsuit!!

Contra Loma Lake
-
Water Temp: 55-56
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Second time ever bass fishing Loma. I have to fish the small local lakes now since my bassin' buddy with the bass boat relocated to Boston! Ugh!!I recently Bought a little pontoon boat for the small waters. Pretty cool rig but you are very limited with some of your presentation techniques. Anyways, I ditched work and thought I would see if any bass are on the move with the warm weather we are having. Tried jigs, dropshot, and cranks with absolutley nothin'doin'. Water clarity was just awful and didn't even get a nibble! I'm 0 for 2 now at this place and I haven't been skunked in a long, long, time. Maybe third time's a charm?
City: ConcordTips: I'm Trying to figure out this place to see if it's even worth my time. Usually "powerbait" waters =spooky hard to catch bass. This place seems like it would be a nightmare to fish on the weekends with everyone trying to catch their dinner. I've seen some nice bass pics out of this place from last year so maybe some of you that are more familiar with the lake can give me some advice.

Eastman Lake

Water Temp: 54to58
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: This lake was terrible!!! Fished all day 4 bumps and 1 dink. Threw everything you could think of drop shot, swim, jigs, cranks, texas, blade and even drug a carolina. We tried every color size you name it. Sun up to sun down I'll go to the delta for now it's much more productive.

Merced Lake
-
Water Temp: ???
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Hey glad to see some reports from lake merced. I fish there once in a while. Not to many hook ups. In the last two weeks caught a 6" and 8" LMB. I guess they are spawning in here. Boy I think they should stop planting trout and plant a sh*t load of bass I bet the bass fishing would be off the hook. Only my thoughts.
City: ssfTips: Caught the 8" lmb on a 6" Kimini blk/blue fleck at the edge of the tules and the other on a blk/silver spinner right off the shore both on the north lake.

Oroville Lake
-
Water Temp: 48-52
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: started at 0800hrs at bidwell ran to the east side. got 3 at first stop drop-shot and spider jig. the went under the small green bridge into the north side got5 fish in there same game but one on a jerk. then out and up the southern arm up to the logs in the water. got 2-3 fish everywhere i stoped just keep throwing the spiderjig and drop-shot. fish were 8-20 feet and 1-4lbs. maybe 20-25 total. watermelon/red spider jig and purple drop shot is what i used.
Tips: sorry details are not more precise but it's only my 2nd time at that lake 1st in the last 6 years. tip cover many types of water depth and rocks types small gravel type rocks worked best it seemed.

Berryessa Lake

Water Temp: ???
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Started out dropshottin the north end of the lake. Stuck one on 4.5 inch robo in mutilator, missed a couple then stuck another on morning dawn. Pretty much pounded fifteen to twenty feet to death. Made a move down south below Monticello Resort. Ended up stickin four more on the jig(brown/purple) fishin rock/sand junctions. Overall decent day for 4 hours of fishin: 3 smallouth, 2 largemouth, and a spot. No good fish, all in the 1.5 to 2.0 range, but worth the trip this time of year.
City: BeniciaTips: Fish slow and be precise. Fish and area with different techniques. Drop shot, darter-heads, or the jig seems to be the key right now.

-
New Hogan Lake
-
Water Temp: 53.8
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Fished points with chunk rock and Northern shores leading into coves. Cranked 4 and 1 on a worm. Best was 3#. Water is clear in the main lake and muddy in the arms. Pounded the shoreline. All fish came in 10 feet or less.
City: IoneTips: Slow cranking when jigging doesn't work. It's been a warm winter, and the fish are moving up sooner than most people think.

-
Shadow Cliffs Lake
-
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Went out to the main pond today. Fished from 2:00pm to 4:30pm. Spent the first half hour playing with my new curado200DHSV. Anyways, the fish is still kinda slow, I did manage 4 hook ups and 3 fish landed. 2 of my fish are around 2lb, and one just a regular 12inch. Most of the fish still down deep, but the transition of weather might push them to higher water. This is my 1st report for this year. Wish we can get some good reports.
City: FremontTips: Fish slow with plastics. Good LUCK FISHING

Spring Lake
-
Water Temp: unkn
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Fished for a few hours. The water is still to dirty from all the rain. I think I might of got a bite, but with all the weeds and branches in the water who knows what was down there. I can't wait for the water to clear up, but who knows when that will be. We fished crank baites, jigs, and what ever else we could use. But NOTHING!!!
City: Santa RosaTips: Need some if anyone has any to offer.

Anderson Lake
-
Water Temp: 55-57
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: On water from 10:30 am til 4:30 pm. Landed a four, a three and two ones. Largest fish taken with a one ounce jighead hula grub while boat-drifting in 20ft water. All others on a dropshot...Aaron's Magic Robo worm. Fish released. Beautiful day to be on the water.
City: Santa ClaraTips: Slow plastics around rocky points.

-
Chabot Lake
-
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: I agree with you jaybizzle - Chabot is too muddy right now for trout or bass fishing. I've been fishing at this lake for almost 10 years and I've never seen the lake this muddy - ever! I know Chabot like the back of my hand and I rarely go home empty handed but it happened two weekends ago when I spent a morning on a boat fishing in this "chocolate milk"! I spoke with the guys at the marina and they told me not to bother until it clears up. In the mean time, try another lake like Shadow Cliffs in Pleasanton.
City: San LeandroTips: Don't even waste your time at Chabot right now!

Eastman Lake
-
Water Temp: 51 to 54
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Will the bass are still on a good bite with fish going up to 4 pounds. The bass are in 8 to 25 feet of water and jigs in pumpkin green are still working well. Now that the weather is warming up get the lizards and brushogs & spinnerbaits out because the bass are moving up shallow. traffic was heavy on saturday because of superbowl sunday and the bite slowed in the afternoon saturday with that quick little front that came through. Sunday it pick up again with the bass back up as shallow as 5 feet in some areas. the east side of the lake from ranger station to the keep out byous are still the areas to hit. also the swimming area on the day use side is holding fish. The 5 mph area is also holding bass in 8 to 25 feet of water as some bigger fish are shallowing up and there still some swim bait action going on. The weather should really be good this week and some bigger fish should come up shallow so pick and area and work it slowly.
City: kerman caTips: jigs,brushogs.lizards,spinnerbaits.swimbaits take your pick there all good right now any questions e mail me anytime GOOD LUCK

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Yo Jaybizzle. I've fish Merced for over twenty years and I've never seen any other bass fisherman except for the ones I know and I fish that lake quite often.. Just wondering who you were because I might of seen you once or twice... Anyways,, fished the Northlake for a couple hours on Sat. morning and caught a couple bass about 3-4 pounds each on a spinnerbait..
City: Pacifica
-
-
Shasta Lake
-
Water Temp: 46-50
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: What a privalage to live just 2 1/2 hours from this world class fishery! Kevin and I were in need of a warm weather break from the Rouge Valley cold. The bend in a fishing rod is just the icing on the cake. Launched at Packers at 6;30. Picked one up on a spinnerbait while warming up the Merc just spitting distance from the ramp. Man I love this lake! Headed up the Pit to the Arbuckle flat area. Got a few right off the bat on some of the points in that area useing spinnerbaits and dart head worms. Nothing at all on the flat. Headed back toward the main lake and picked up a few more on numerouse points once again on dart head worms and football head hula grubs 3/8 ounce pumpkin pepper. Figured out that the further we moved into an arm the fewer bights we would get. No real magic, no hogs but plenty of biters. Wound up with about 30 fish total, only 2 shakers in the bunch, largest going 2.25. Wind and cloud cover might have made for better catching but then again it would have been colder so this was probably the perfect day for what I was needeing. Godd luck and good fishing!!
City: medfordTips: Until the lake starts to fill I suspect the fish will remain within the first 25% of the creek arms. With the weather warming up this week, I would concentrate on the shallow flats and coves with alot of sun exposure in the main lake.

Trinity Lake
-
Water Temp: 44
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Yep, just like I said, I got out again today. Spent a most enjoyable day with a writer from the Fish Sniffer. As usual, however, get someone with a camera and a pen in the boat and the fish head for the other end of the lake. I just don't know what makes fish so camera shy. Maybe we need to figure out how to hook them up on-line so they can see themselves on a screen and they'll be a little more co-operative. Geez, maybe we should just offer them a sponsorship, that ought to do it. Anyway fishing was fishing today not catching. We did end up with a half dozen fish, all smallies, with a 4 lber leading the way. Saw plenty of fish where I expected to find them, but it was tough to get them to go...... I just realized after browsing through reports from other Nor-Cal lakes, maybe I shouldn't be apologizing for for a 6 fish day or for a 4 lb smallie as top dog. D#@m, this lake can sure distort one's values. Thanks Richard for a fun day. Next time, we'll tell the fish you're a bird watcher. Maybe that'll help.
City: WeavervilleTips: After the day we had I'm not sure what tips I have to offer except, if you want to do well on Trinity, leave the press on the dock.
