    • Report: From Lake Shasta
      Good morning Shasta Lake fans!

We are getting a wonderful break from the triple digit heat that we experienced last week. Currently we are sitting at 67 degrees and 91% humidity. The best part is we are getting rain! OK...more like a light sprinkle wink emoticon However this damp weather is supposed to hang around the area for the next several days. There is also the possibility of lightning and thunder! If anything, I hope that this weather is helping against some of the fires in the north state.

The lake level status is continuing to look great! Considering that the BOR predictions at the end of August had the lake at 129' below and we are still above that half way through September...I would say that puts us in a definite positive! Also, we are over 32.5' higher than where we were last year. That brings us to capacity. At 37% we have the highest current capacity of any other man made lake in CA at the moment.

Let's just hope that El Nino is coming and relieve the entire state from the dire drought conditions we are currently in!

In the meantime, it is great weather to grab your boat and a fishing pole! wink emoticon

Hope you all have a wonderful week! grin emoticon

    • Report: Spent Tuesday on the water with Brian P. fishing jigs, we didn't catch a whole bunch of fish, but the ones we did were all tournament quality! Brian stuck his personal best at 7lb 1oz round 9:15am, 30 minutes later he tops that with a 7lb 4oz fatty! Awesome day of fishin fer deep summer bass here on the Delta!

    • Water Temp: 78-79

      Report: *****Oroville Afterbay****

Thought I give the afterbay a try with higher water levels, up to 135.5, the highest since I have been watching the water levels. For thos that don't know, you can check water levels by going to http://cdec.water.ca.gov/cgi-progs/quer ... an=24hours . I was completely amazed at how much of a change 2.5 feet of water makes, a completley different place when the water gets higher. I launched about 6 an, and tossed worms till about 9:30 am, leaving when the holiday crowd began to get too busy. Slower day for me, only got 8 LM, all fish at 12-13 inches, no larger ones today for me.

    • Report: From Shasta Lake
      Good morning Shasta Lake!

What an AWESOME weekend! The energy of everybody on the lake was great! The weather was perfect and we were busy!!! Of course we were...becasue we've ‪#‎GotWater‬! Comparative to last year we have more that 458,000 acre feet more water and over 32' higher!

It is bittersweet transitioning from thousands of people on the lake yesterday to the quite, calm, serene lake today. We love the excitement of meeting families from all around the world, but it is wonderful to take in the beauty and how quite it is right now. The water is not as turbulent, and the water becomes very clear! I will do my best to get some pictures for you wink emoticon

It does look like we are going to swing back into the high summer temperatures for this week...in the triple digits. Currently it is 95 degrees with a slight breeze. Looking forward to what could possibly be the last triple digit week on the lake this year!

    • Report: From Lake Camanche

      Lake Conditions 9/7/15

Water temperature at the south shore ramp is approximately 82 degrees. The inflow from Pardee Lake is 11 c.s.f. as of 9/4/15 and the outflow from Lake Camanche is 200 c.s.f. Spill level is currently 64.2′ with approximately 3,000 surface acres of water.

NOTICE: South Shore single lane courtesy ramp has been reopened.

Both North Shore courtesy ramps are currently open.

    • Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Spotted & Small mouth bass can be caught on plastic worms & small soft swim baits (keitech) all throughout the lake. Bank fishing is fair in heavy pressured areas due to all the water activity but limits are still being caught. Crank baits are working well in rocky areas (walls, points) etc. Jigs in brown or black can be beneficial if fished at the right speed. Everything is choking up SHAD or CRAWDADS!!!!

Tips: Bigger fish still holding up in deeper waters due to the heat and warm water temperatures.

    • Water Temp: Low 70's

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Water still crystal clear and cold, Spotted bass can be seen is areas wheres there's absolutely no pressure, lots of hydrilia. Blue Gill are still aggressive in those heavy pressured areas as well as from the bank. Fish are being caught mid to late in the evening once a lot of the water activity has died down. A few topwater evening strkes but nothing big. Drop shotting and shakey heads seems to get fish in the boat. Crank bait fishing is slow to none but lots of smaller fish are chasing cranks acting real aggressive.

Tips: Fish hard, never give up.

      Water Temp: 72 degrees

Report: Fished out on Frank's to see the sunrise. My buddy and I caught approximately 18 shakers on chrome and black rattle trap, within the first 45 minutes. And 4 on top water with a whopper popper. Headed over to Middle River but stopped along the way near an opening to Little Franks. Fish finder was lighting up with activity and then the shad started popping around the boat. My buddy threw in a whopper popper and caught a 4 pound striped bass. Then the birds showed up diving all around us. It was picture perfect. Caught another 6 striped bass, shakers of course, same spot. Over to middle river to fish for Large Mouth. Caught about 7-8 using wacky rigged worms in motor oil color. Off the water by 1:30

Tips: Get out really early before first light to catch the morning striped bass bite. We were out before the birds started hunting.

    • Report: Gooood morning Shasta Lake!!!

We are kicking off the Labor day weekend with some great weather here on the lake! We had some strong gusts last night that are still subsiding this morning. Coupled with 61 degrees right now...it feels a little like fall. No worries, it is going to warm up back near the triple digits towards the end of the weekend!

Best thing yet...we have water! And plenty of it!!! As of this morning we are over 32' higher than last year with close to 460,000 more acre feet of water and over 220 miles of shoreline!

We have all been watching the weather reports and following the tales of the now called "Godzilla El Nino!" As with all other Californians...we are looking for relief from the dry weather. So keep hopeful and we will keep you up to date!

In the meantime, get outside this weekend and enjoy what Nor Cal has to offer grin emoticon

What better way to end your summer season then on the lake...fishing, hiking, boating, wakeboarding, kayaking...you name it, we have it at the houseboating capital of the world ‪#‎HastaBShasta‬ ‪#‎GotWater‬

    • Water Temp: 78-79

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I guided two good fishermen from the east coat who have fished for everything, but not black bass! This was a 5 hr trip because of their busy schedule. We had to fish mid-day, from 11 am to 3:30 pm - Not the best time! After catching several sub-legal largemouth, we ventured out into the main body which was a slick as glass after Wednesday's windstorm. One of the fella landed the big bass of the trip, again using a MM111 Robo worm. His smallie went 2 3/4 lbs - great fight!! They caught a few more, with the biggest a 2 1/4 lb spotted bass. I was very pleased with a fairly good mid-day, flat water bite. They missed several bites while learning the secrets of plastic worm fishing!

Tips: The lake is still dropping, but slowly. I think the pre-fall slowdown has hit the lake a bit. Some areas that were real good during the previous weeks were void of bass and bait yesterday. The day-before north wind might have moved the fish too. We did see a few stray bass bust shad on the surface. After Labor Day - come quickly fall bite!!!

Bass fishing at Shasta and Trinity has been good all summer and is starting to get even better! Try topwater of the main point's first thing in the morning. After the sun get's on the water fish out to around 30' with Senko's, Tubes and 6" worms or look for mudlines and fish them with mid depth crankbaits. The bite has been good for numbers and there has been the occasional big fish showing up!

More Salmon Anglers are seeing success, a few fishing finally started getting an occasional report of success from Salmon searching anglers. Water temperatures have dropped with the cooler evenings. Many anglers to the west are seeing more salmon daily… getting close. . Silvertron’s are the best bet for those who want to try. Catfish are the best target species this time of year that can help you beat the summer doldrums . Anchovies, Mackeral and Sardinescs are good choices here for the whiskerfish.

      Walnut Grove
Salmon are increasing in numbers Silvertrons and K-14 getting mentioned Bank anglers Pile worms and cut baits prevail. Catfish action is getting the most praise, Few Stripes are in the area as anglers recover still around as temperatures return more seasonable in the Walnut Grove area as the trolling bite is OK mostly small fish. Best area has been Courtland to Walnut grove.

      The Sacramento Turning Basin
continues to be decent with stripes caught there by lure tossers. Red Eye Shad and small shad patterned plastics are the top choices here as well.

      Discovery Bay
Cooler evenings have the bite changing combined with the wind have Spinnerbaits and crankbaits doing better daily. Stay near main river current with Crankbaits Strike King XD 6 and 2.5 square bills. Top water stripes are showing in the deep water side. Topwater scoring bass on the main river topwater look for birds. Jig bite on points is also good, the all new TNT Booby Trap is a great replica of Delta Craws come by and check them out!

      West Delta
More Anglers in search of stripers are finding a few keepers on occasion from both boat and bank. Most of the nice stripers coming soaking Shad. Antioch Pier scored stripers to 30 inches this week. The West as in Honker Bay to the Broad Slough plug casting is getting fish when wind cooperates. A few more Salmon success stories have come on the incoming tide with Mepp’s Flying C’s in Pittsburgh and Humphries areas. Bass Bite stays solid in the Break and surrounding cuts. Cranking and spinnerbaits is starting to improve daily. Punching get’s the bites the key is staying square to your target and setting hard.

    • Water Temp: ???

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Tossed worms today with Russ, launched about 6 am, fished till about 10:30 am, and fished the middle fork, first time for me in this area. I'm amazed at how different the middle fork is from the N. fork. Going to fish the area more often now that I saw the structure. No big fish, but plenty of fish and great time. 28 fish, with the largest at 14 1/2 inch. Pretty much typical bite, most fish 20 feet or deeper, with most caught at 25-35 feet. Wind drove us off, too much work to hold the boat and have fun with that typical blowing wind.

Report: ****Oroville Afterbay****Plenty of fish, just no larger size fish today. Launched a tad after 6 am, fished till 10 am. Tossed worms, light 1/16 oz Texas rig, and 1/8 Carolina rigs, worked the outside edge of the weed beds in 8-15 feet of water. Very active early, tapering off as the sun got higher. Best fish (picture) right at 14 inch all other fish 10-13 inch with a couple smaller dinks tossed in for 23 fish for the morning. Sure wish the water could be made to come up another 2-3 feet!!! Noticed at the ramp while taking the boat out, shore line full of tiny 2-3 inch bass, like a fish aquarium darn near. Spawn seems to have been good last spring.

    • Water Temp: 80

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: This past Friday evening just before sunset I took Travis and his son Alejandro out for a couple of hours. We fished along the west side and within the first ten minutes Alejandro landed a nice bass which had him grinning from ear to ear!!!! The next fish was caught by Travis trolling a chartreuse lure that went down approximately eight feet. As the sun was setting and we were heading in for the day Alejandro caught a 3.5 pound smallmouth bass and there was that grin again good job (see photo). Next day bright and early Albert, John and I set out for the day. We started by the rock structures heading towards the Narrows. Albert is throwing top water lures with no success and I landed a couple of nice bass using a silver and blue crank bait. We decided to try the back of the big island where you can only use an electric trolling motor. In the back coves we saw many minnows and many three inch bass. I thought this would be a great spot but it turned out to be difficult because of the dense grass just below the water line. John was throwing a drop shot with about 22 inches between the weight and hook and he was catching small bass and a sunfish but nothing of any size. Albert caught a nice bass using the same rig set up (see photos). We will come back to this spot again in the future. We had a very enjoyable day. 'til next time...................................................................................good fishing!!!!

Report: Fished out of Russo's at high tide around 6:30, northern side, caught a few shakers with chrome rattle trap. Conditions were windy initially. Got out of the wind by shooting over to Middle River where we caught LMB on Lucky Craft square bill, crawdad color and wacky-rigged worms. Outgoing tide. Caught about 15 bass up to 3 pounds initially inside the weed line. Caught an additional couple of bass on Piper Slough.
