Report: Well, spinnerbaits again. Got there at 7.30 in the mornin and was throwin' senkos and broke my pole. So i went straight for the spinnebaits. I got 6 bass till 12.00. Two 3 pounders and the rest were babies. One was a spawner. So south end has em' there. they were in shallow water.(2-5ft.) Where are they gona go next? Well, we need more reports here guys from other ends of the lake. freakin love spinnerbaits.
City: San JoseTips: Spinnerbaits on the south end.

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: I am so fed up with dealing with looking out for the seemingly endless amounts of rowboats and power-boat loud speaker jerks that I have been just going elsewhere. it seriously is so bad after 3pm when they launch that it seems like a joke. I am willing to do anything it takes to help coordinate efforts to get them in check. so, basically, you can't fish the center of the lake when it's their time? SCREW THEM!!!!!!!!!!

Report: fished a fun group called the old mans tournament a two fish limit, about 15 anglers 7+ won and I was 2nd with 4.3 lbs. The wind was blowing very strong so I stayed right around Bridge Bay caught about 20 fish all spots, most came on a worm and the rest on a spoon.

Trinity Lake

Water Temp: 60
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Sorry I havn't posted many reports lately but things have been a little hectic for me. Been working way too much.
I came across a quote recently that says it all. " Three-fourths of the earth's surface is water......and one fourth is land. Therefore it is clear the Good Lord intends that a man should spend three times as much time fishing than he does working. Leo E. Nolte" I agree with this quote and am going to try a little harder to get my priorities straightened out.
Trinity has fished more inconsistantly this year than any year in recent memory. Things started out gang-busters in late Feb and early March. Then we had that spell of hot weather which shut things down completely. Things started to get back to normal and they decided to dump a lot of water for a " safety of dam release". That pulled the fish out deep again. Then at the last full moon the weather warmed up and the smallies went full bore into the spawn ( another reason I didn't report). Follow that with a week of crappy weather which dropped the water temp from 61 to 52 and the fishing turned off again.
Last Sat. the Southern Ore. ABA had a 4 fish limit tournament where it took 17.5 lbs to win with a 6.7 lunker so maybe things are getting back to normal. 17.5 lbs. sounds pretty good but is 4-5 lbs lower than the winning weight the last several years.
I fished with a couple of buddies Tues and fishing was spotty at best. Gin clear water and dead calm. Next year I'm going to have a limber 16' rod spooled w/2 lb. test so I can cast a 1/16th oz darter head 100 yds when conditions are like this. Maybe then I won't spook all the big uns.
City: WeavervilleTips: Go ahead and get that 16 footer.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Arrived at the south end at 7.30am and fished until 1.00pm. LOTS of shad boiling in the morning but didn't know what to use, they were in thick weeds also so I couldn't toss my spinnerbait. I pretty much fished the whole south end in my float tube and caught 4 on my charteuse spinnerbait,(largest was 3.3, two 2 pounders, and one little guy) 1 on a wiggle wart which was a nice fat 2.5 pounder, and a little guy on a senko. Although I did miss two on a texas rigged red senko when the wind picked up. Probably try the same tomorrow.
City: San JoseTips: If you know what to use when those shad are boiling, get there in the morning and try it out. Spinnerbait action was doin' it for me lately, but my arm gets freakin' tired with all those casts in a tube.

Water Temp: 62-63
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: The sun was out today and very little wind. Fished Potato Slough with 2 friends from 8:00A until 1:00P. Caught a lot of undersized bass and 10 keepers (2 largest were 2.5-3lbs). Fish were inside the weeds. Caught more fish throwing spinnerbaits into the weeds than senkos. Lost a lot too since we couldn't get good hook set.
City: DixonTips: wh/char spinnerbaits. Fish whichever bank had a little breeze. Find the weeds and throw your senko/spinnerbait into the mess. No weeds, no fish.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: I went out Tues to try the bass bite, fully expecting slow action with the high heat. Got one dink on a spinnerbait, nothing on plastics. I was surprised the trout bite was still happening for the damn bankies (not dam bankies). To give the rowers credit, someones sun umbrella launched into the water from the wind, and was heading to the far side of the lake. One of the gas boats broke off, chased it down, and returned it to it's owner. I don't think they realize the damage they can do to fishing with their boats when they buzz someone. Same thing with the idiot personal water craft, these morons just HAVE to come buzzing by to show off their idiotic purchase of a $4000 "water motorcycle", while sending a huge wake out and putting the fish down. I think they just don't know how obnoxious they are to fisherman.
City: SJTips: Very weedy in the first 20 feet, all the vegetation is underwater now, but it's last year's growth, old and dry, really no problem to tear through if your using 8lb test or better. I thought I would lose a lot more rigs, not a one!

Report: I think that the Trout Day was a success too. When you do it for the kids you are an automatic winner. I brought my boy and his cousin who I pre registered with Mondy, thank god because it was a mad house with last minute arrivals. Anyway the only thing that was disappointment was that the fish were free swimmers and not pinned in so that the kids could get a sure catch instead of a lesson in patience(which fishing is all about. You mentioned a bass bite? Fill me in on it.

Report: Fished with a very good angler and friend of mine, Bill Guinn from Redding launched at Trinity Center at 0530, a beautiful calm morning. Started throwing blades and rip baits at the airport no takers I switched to a MGM black grub and caught a 2.5 sm, after about 2 hours fishing Swift Creek and the Ball Park we went to East Fork and started getting bit on MGM black slugos splitshotting most fish were sm from 1.5 to 2.5 lbs. We landed a total of 14 fish, which was not a very good day for Trinity at this time of the year. Saw alot of fish on beds.
City: ReddingTips: Fish the shallow flats in 2 to 5 foot of water

Water Temp: ?
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Got 3 yesterday but two unbuttoned on a charteuse spinnerbait from 5.00pm till 8.00pm. largest one was 2 pounds. I was fishing left of the launch ramp in my float tube. Same thing today. 3 bass, one unbuttoned, largest was 2.5 pounds. Using Charteuse spinnerbait again. ANd left of the launch ramp, again. But tomorrow. I'm hittn' the south end in the morning. Let you know how I do. I want to go further down the lake but I always get there too late and it's a b#$@h with the wind blowin' like crazy.
City: San JoseTips: weeds are growning fast, so whatever works in the weeds. Hell if I know where the bass are. I'm workin' on it though.

Report: Well this report is kind of late-
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Ken Cassettari who took me on a guided trip to pre-fish for a peace officers tournament. With less than 24 hours notice he found time to book a trip for me. He is a skilled angler and knows where the hogs hide-out and most importantly he knows the tide. One of the things I learned was how to fish a Senko with a tube weight. It gives this bait a unique and different fall and let me tell you the bass were smackin'it. I think it's because this presentation is not widely used that it gives these fish something different. I'm sure best 5 on that cold, windy day would have brought 16# to the scales. I'm sure Ken will help you learn this technique next time you book a guide trip with him. Once again Thank You Ken and see you this coming frog season.

Folsom Lake

Water Temp: 61to 63
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Dropping the Lake 8ft. in one week did not help the spawn much. Found spots to 3lbs on almost all points in the north fork and south fork. Largmouth beds that I saw a week ago are out of the water now and others are much esier to see now that the water is lower. We have been averaging about 25 fish per trip with most being spots and smallmouth.
City: SacramentoTips: Use rip baits and white spinerbaits in the morning and smoke grubs on 1/8oz dart head, and carolina rigged 4inch worms, Pag rigged 4inch Senkos the rest of the day.

Water Temp: unknown...but t
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: started the day kinda late. total fish was about 20 or soOoo...not that many still on beds. tried the main lake, got a few. ran up to the creeks, way in the back like everyone has been talking about. got some more. biggest of the day was around 3lbs. saw a few big cruisers. but like they say they don't get big cause their dumb.
City: skittleboy104@yahoo.comTips: usually i fish the bottom. but today my friend boated like 7 before i got one. he was using a jig aswel. the only thing he can do better with a jig than i can is fish them slower and drag them better w/out snagging.
i got my fish on reaction lures. i guess it was just that i was blind casting and geting protective bass. LOTS OF LITTLE ONES>>>>>>>>>

Water Temp: 52
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: I fished with Janet Thompson on Tue. from 6am to 4pm. Started ripping and top water down by the dam and couldn't get a reaction bite so we started fishing the east side flats and saw lots of 2-4 lb. smallies on beds and cruising. Pitching a Basstrix (flashtrix) smelt and a threadfin (bait fry) on a drop shot, we caught about 30 bass up to 4 1/2 lbs.
Went back wed. with John Hamman and was greeted with a monster north wind, so we luanched at little Norway (north end) and fished what ever we could in the protected coves and caught about 20 nice smallies to 3-1/2lbs. useing the same drop shot baits pitching to beds and cruising fish in 4 to 8ft.

Report: Fished the East, Waggs Canyon and the North. All produce fish but water skiiers killed the action up in Waggs. Fish hitting on drop shot - white Kinami Kutail in the morning and robo worm in the late morning afternoon. Would not touch senko, crank or spinners. Most were male LMB with some smallies. All were same size - 1 1/2 lb. No size but saw plenty of LMB cruising the rocks. Would not take anything. Water too clear and shallow. Tough fishing from noon on with jet skiiers and water skiiers buzzing all over.
City: SFTips: Drop shot outside with light color in morning and darker colors in the pm. Most of the fish in 15' or deeper.
