    • Water Temp: 59-63

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Mike Sperbeck and I made a quick trip to the lake on Tues, starting about 3pm. We got into shallow big bass immediately. They must have move in to warm up. He lost 3 big bass but did land several up to 7 lbs. Biggest I could land was only 4 1/2 lbs. The bite stopped as the sun set and the wind became a problem. Mike did land another 5 1/4 pounder an hour after dark, and with that we left as the wind was getting nasty. We could have had a 30 lb+ trip but only managed 23+ lbs for 5 bass. Still caught several of those dinks that are everywhere!!

Tips: We found bass from 2 to about 10 feet - all clean with no spawning marks on them yet. If there were a few beds, we couldn't see them in the wind. We used a variety of soft plastics, most in green pumpkin color. I caught my biggest on a MM111 6" Robo worm. We stayed south of the narrows in the Clearlake arm. The constantly changing weather patterns could keep the spawn going for quite some time!!

      Water Temp: 65

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Fished Thursday evening and Friday morning in very windy conditions that made it difficult to fish. Caught half a dozen bass to two pounds. Best lures were shaky head and worm, and jigs. Lost a big fish on a jig. Bass have pulled away from the bank and seem to be in 5' to 15' of water.

    • Water Temp: 62-64

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: I went out fishing today with Jeff, got a late start, launching about 8:30 am, back at the docks by noon. Took a chance and fished the main body of the lake where banks were very steep, with mostly small rubble and occasional larger rock. Finally we got a few nicer fish, total 13 spots, lost two, with one 16", one 15 1/2", one 15" and the rest 13-14". Interesting two of the larger were caught on senko's, which were didn't think were going to give us fish. All the other worms. Some fish shallow, other 25-30 foot range. Kind of a mix of depth for fish today. First senko fish this year for us.

    • Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Muddy water for those wondering has come from the islands pumping off excess water getting ready to start farming. Many of the islands pumps are on full speed and notice the siphon pipes pumping out nasty water all over the delta

    • Water Temp: 70 plus

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: This past Saturday I went out with Albert. We launched the boat at 10:30 AM and Albert asked his usual question "where are we going to fish"? I told him looking at the surface water temperature which was almost 70 degrees and the water being calm our best bet was to fish in around 2 to 4 feet of water. We went to one of my favorite coves on the east side of the lake. I started in 12 feet of water and ended in two feet. Visibility was clear and we could see the bass. Albert may have thought we were in too shallow water but I knew the larger bass usually are in the shallower water. When Albert cast out his line we were in bout 3 feet of water and he threw towards the shoreline which was about one foot deep. Half way back to the boat he got whacked big time and I knew he had a good size fish on. When we netted the bass and brought it aboard Albert had a huge grin from ear to ear. It weighed in at 10.5 lbs and after taking a few pictures (see attached) we released it and watched it swim back to shallow water. This was Albert's biggest bass so far at this lake. It was very exciting!!! There was a boat next to us where Jay and Casey were fishing after watching Albert bring in his bass they threw to the same area using a fluke bait and landed a 3+ lb bass (see photo). Now I headed out to the vine yards and using the same technique landed a bass weighing 2 lbs. Heading back towards home we trolled along the west side and Albert caught another 2 pounder. we went in early after enjoying a great day and Albert still had that grin can you blame him!!
      'til next time...................................................................................good fishing!!!!!!!

    • Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Fished out of Redbud today. Stopped in to Clearlake Bait & Tackle to get my sticker, Jimmy said we would do ok with senkos and drop shots, but they were small. We fished senkos all day, must have caught 40 bass, only one small (not even 2lbs) keeper. Other boats were saying the same thing. Kept hoping the next bite would be a big one, never happened.

Report: Clear Lake this Week 4/18/2015

Well, the bed bite is on in earnest…last week a big wave of new fish finally moved up and as witnessed by some of the weights out of the Lucas Oil event here this weekend It’s pretty clear this is the main wave. The only issue is finding clear enough water to see em’.

The first bed fish of the year for me occurred February 28th and I have seen em’ on and off since then.
However, changing water clarity has hampered some of the better areas since then. With that last rain storm came additional run-off and boom we had our first major algae bloom of the year as the water warmed. If that wasn't bad enough, the winds moved in behind it, and yes, I said algae bloom! This is way early and I suspect we’ll see it from this point on….thank you vineyards.

Anyways, this past week we saw improving water conditions in the North end and the bite began to take off as one would expect for this time of year. Hopefully, we’ll see this continue throughout the lake in the weeks to come.

Don’t stay away if your not a bed fisherman though. The first wave is coming off and fry can be seen in a number of areas, so it’s time to pick up an open water frog or buzz bait and get after a little top water action. It’s bound to happen if it already hasn’t, and this is also a good time to bring the kids out with minnows. There are still some fish staging and there are some of the early ones moving off to feed, so the ledge areas are producing some really good fish right now on the lil swimmers.

So, my advice would be the following. Get up early and get out with an LV500, or Buzz bait and hit as many of the spawning flats as you can until the sun gets up, then it’s time to put the Costa’s on and start looking for “Maureena”…….she’ll be the one with the big green lips and dark black stripe down her sides, weighing in at a mere 9 or 10lbs… :D Want to relax with the kids, or significant other? Flyline a lil swimmer.

Remember though, Catch, Photo, and Release. Re-production mounts are unbelievably good and affordable these days, so don’t carry her around in the live well unless you’re in a tournament.

    • Water Temp: 60-62

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Launched at Lime Saddle about 6:30 am, fished till 10":45 am. Slower bite today for some reason, and not as many suspended fish seen chasing bait!! no idea why. I managed just 11 fish, 7 spots, 4 of them small mouth. Largest a suspended spot right at 22 feet. Saw her chasing bait, dropped straight down to 22 feet and get her almost right away in 35 feet of water. Not much wind today which made for a pleasant trip. Going out next Thursday with Jeff, launching at the dam.

    • Water Temp: 63-66

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Launched Paradise Point around 640am; decided to turn left and try 14 mile slough since 3 weeks ago it was productive....not! water was stained to muddy and couldn't get a crankbait bite going...managed a couple 1 lbers on black neon senko. Decided to hit the main river and move toward St Francis and Little Connection... hit our favorite cove just before H&H with a couple other bassboats already there... hit the rockwall no one was working and caught 2... 1.5 and 2lber on junebug senko 4". Worked around the corner and there were some guys working the center tules...picked up what looked like at least a 6 maybe 7lber... guy was whoopin' it up and I don't blame him. We decided to move up to Disappointment but then changed and moved past Honker Cut to White slough... LOTS of shallow weedbeds so we spent about 45mins to an hour working frogs and spooks... had 2 big ones follow but only one blowup. Kept moving on to Bishop's cut and I threw a black neon senko to the outside edge of a weedline... I had just told my brother I won't be back to White Slough any time soon. watched my line load up and start to move sideways....set the hook for a 6lb 6oz buck. Took a couple pics and let him go back to hopefully grow to 9 or 10.
      City: folsom

Tips: Can't give any tips..not good enough... but will pass on what worked for us.... when the crankbait bite didn't turn on, we tried senkos, slow rolled spinnerbaits, and jigs...only thing working was the senkos...junebug and black neon either at the outside weed bottoms or right at the tules. Hopin' the crankbait bite turns back on!

      Water Temp: 68

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: The ramp is now a 4 wheel drive , lower dirt. The water continues to drop dramatically. Fishing has been tough for me the last 3 weekends. No problem catching numbers, especially up river but no size. Given the rapid drop and apparently continuing to drop I doubt we will have a good spawn this year. Bigger fish most likely near the bank but can't get on it.

Tips: I have had a good top water bite which is early for me , usually does not start for me until late May/June when the Blue Gill spawn. Don't waste your money on Senkos, at a dollar or more each for a 12-14 inch fish as fast as you can feed them will break the bank. Decent crank bait bite.

    • Water Temp: 58-60 depending

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Finally got a day with very light winds, Launched about 6:30 at lime saddle, stopped fishing about 10:30 am. Weird, no fish around the docks this morning. First point on my way to N. fork, half way to the bridge, tossed a worm, let it settle and fish took it and left at the same time, no tap, just bam. Thought I had a massive spot till it shook it's head from side to side, a nice 8 1/2 pound catfish. Fished rocky steep banks and got 18 spots, largest at 14 1/2" Spots were 12-14 1/2",Noticed that the blue gill are moving up more shallow, lots of those tiny peck like hits, but nothing ever really took the worm. Good, bluegill around means spots too. Most fish in the 20-30 foot range. Tossed natural brown colors mostly, as I always do. Decent trip, but still not full swing yet. My guess, 3-4 more weeks for wide open bite.

      Report: Fishing with Sid

      10:40 AM

To: Sidney Silberberg, lake b Peter Kilkus new

Just got back from Florida where I fished every day. Fished with my nephew's and niece's kids in the creek behind my sister's home where we caught some nice bass. I also took the kids out salt water fishing once on Capt. Mo's boat and once with Capt. James boat. The largest fish caught was under two pounds but on each trip the kids with the help of the captains and myself caught 36 fish on light tackle. It was great fun for all of us. My last guided trip on Lake Berryessa was just before I left for vacation. I took Nilas and his son Peter out for the day. We caught a few nice bass largest one up to four pounds. We saw a lot of smallmouth bass in two to five feet of water ready to nest (see photos). Looking forward to upcoming guiding trips. The fishing will only get better as summer approaches. 'til next time............................................................good fishing!!!!!

    • Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Clear Lake this week 4/9/2015

Wow, this has been a really tough couple of weeks. Why? Well, nobody seems to be quite sure. Either way, take one look at the B.A.S.S. Western Regional Standings and see for yourselves.

Warm February, wind, rain, more wind, warm March, and now this latest cold front? Take your pick. Honestly, it’s not a fun place to fish right now. You really have to finesse em’ right now, or time it just right around incoming water, and or spawning flats.

I’m pretty certain the early Spring has contributed to these tough time as we’re already seeing fry in and around some of the docks, both North and South. What is unusual though is the lack of pre-spawn fish moving up and chasing. Like I said, if you time it right you may luck into a small school, but for the most part, numbers is a real tough thing right now.

Morning air temps are in the high 30’s to low 40’s with water temps running 56-65 throughout the day. Water clarity is poor, and there are some areas which are already blooming. Yet another why?

ABA is here again this Sunday so I’ll be interested to see how some of the guys who are familiar with the lake do over this weekend. Go get em’ fellas! Show us how it’s done!

    • Water Temp: 59-62

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I took two clients on Friday, out of Markley - maybe the last of two times using the main ramp. The lake appears to be down about a foot. This was the 3rd day of a north wind and rather cool temps. We fished the narrows and some of the lower main body. The bite was slow for us, only landing about 6 or 7 bass and missing a few more bites. One of the spots and one of the smallies were pushing 3 lbs and the rest were 1 1/2 to 2 1/4 lbs, not much to write home about. The afternoon bite was dead!!

Tips: Most bites were on 6" Robo worms in a variety of colors. Our bites were 10 to 20 feet and the water was a bit dingy for sight fishing - because of the wind. Most bites were on deeper flats, near deep water.
