Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Fished the last couple o days with a party rom the Scottsdale, Az. area and I think they really enjoyed the weather. Fri we tried a little topwater but couldn't get much going so moved to the lats to work the smallies and they were pretty cooperative. with every one catching a decent ish. Sat AM we skipped the topwater and went directly ater bigger smallies. We had a great early smallmouth bite. I any o you Wyntoon campers were awakened by the sound o "COME TO DADDY" that was Hugh with his irst 3# smallie. The smallies were taking Gitzits retreived very slow on the bottom. I you aren't getting hung up a lot, you're ishing too ast. Had reports o smallies to 5# taken on nightcrawlers on main lake points hal way down the lake. The Warden I talked to on Fri. said they had seen a lot o really nice ish. The cooler temps have kept the big guys going a little later than normal.
City: WeavervilleTips: The boat traic seems to put the ish down about ten o'clock so go early. Thanks to the Scottsdale bunch or catching on to the bite and making my job much easier. Who said girls can't cast?

Report: Launched out o Wiimpy's at 6:00A and ished Beaver, Hog, and Sycamore sloughs. By 8:00A, we had 7 keepers and 13 by noon. Wanted to be o the water by noon, but decided to catch 2 more to ill 3 limits. What a mistake. Fished 3 more hours and only caught 1 keeper. Caught a lot o undersized bass. Biggest ish o the day was 2.5 lbs.
City: DixonTips: white & white/chartruese spinners and Rat L Traps that resemble shad. Saw a lot o ish chasing shad. Tried buzz baits and top water lures, but didn't get any hookups - several misses. Fish were next to the bank inside the weed line.

Report: Decided to try my luck at Folsom by getting out irst thing in the A.M. and throwing some topwater.I ound out that I have no luck , no bites at all. I threw spooks, buzzbait, jig, plastics to no avail. This has been the worst year I have ever encountered at Folsom. I caught ish this spring but not near the quality or numbers that the last ew years have produced. The spawn seemed to last a ew weeks as well. Probably the constant rise in lake level kept me o balance.
City: Granite Bay Ca.Tips: Next year or this all

Water Temp: 78
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: I took two ellas this week anxious to learn more about bass ishing - and the bass taught them a lot!! These guys were into saltwater ishing, so a Snag Proo rog or one and a Senko or the other was QUITE a change or them!! We started about 6 pm on Tuesday evening. Ater catching a 2 1/4 on a green rog pre-ishing or them or a ew minutes, I igured we would try rogs since that one was pretty aggressive. I showed the ellow next to me how to ish a white rog and he was doing a great job o casting and working it. Ater he worked an area or awhile, I made a cast beore we let and got a 4 pounder on the same green rog. I switched him to green and soon he got a great blowup on a big ish but was probably too stunned to set the hook hard. My Senko man was hung up and as I looked back to see the problem I elt a jerk and saw that my rog that had been thrown in an open water shadow was gone. Another 3 1/2 pounder. We moved to a ew new spots and missed a ew, including a near 7 pounder that came o ater a ew seconds. That hurt! As the sun set on a perect evening weather wise, I told them we would see bass rising to eat shad. Well, we saw maybe 8 total - weird - perect weather and no eeding action. I had the Senko man try a Chug Bug in the middle o a cove, telling him i he got a hit it would be a good one. It was!!! Ater missing one, he set on either a good one or a small one with a lot o weeds. Luckly it was the irst way - 4 lbs 11 oz - his irst topwater bass. Wow! And ive minutes later, the rog man inally connects - a skinny 5 pounder - but what a blowup and ight! I always tell people that give largemouth no respect as a ighter - you ought to catch one about a month or so ater the spawn - when they are lean and mean! This ish was a prime example!! We caught a ew more topwater ish beore dark and then had some dinner. And now or the exciting night ishing news! There isn't any!! It was dead!!! We caught some small ones up to 1 1/2 pounds only. We talked to two other boat with the same story - not much ater dark. We did wind up with 6 big ish hooked beore dark - 4 landed - with the ive biggest slightly over 20 pounds. Maybe resh water will replace some o their salty ways, har!!
City: Yuba CityTips: Actually, this was a very typical delta breeze summer evening at Amador. Most o our local lakes oer the best ishing during these cooler days in the late aternoon (warmest time o day) up to dark, and the night ishing is kind o slow. All the lakes I guide on at night seem to ollow this pattern. You will catch bass as night but they are usually small. Night ishing is always best during very hot weather.

Water Temp: ???
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Ok, here's the oicial standings o KOTL IV yesterday...1st - Tom, 2nd - Aaron and I. LoL. Tom kicked our aces yesterday weighing in 4 ish or 7-4. Then Aaron and I tied or 2nd place with 1-6. Tom also got big ish with a 3-6 that he caught lippin' a...*ahem*...what was that Tom? What kind o jig were you using? HAR! He used the Bass Stalker Jig that I gave him when he won the irst KOTL tourney. Anywho, Aaron caught 1 ish weighing 1-6, but I managed to scrap up two little 11 ounce ish to tie with him. I also caught another ish that wasn't quite 12" though. We started ishing at the boat ramp and just worked our way towards cattail cove all day. The ish that I did catch were all caught on a drop-shot rig. One by the channel point dock and the other two o the lagoon area rocks. However, i the ish would've just eaten my Pop-R yesterday...argh! I was throwing a hand painted PINK pop-r or most o the day yesterday and had 7-8 blow-ups all day that would've put me right up with Tom, but they just wouldn't eat it. Which was really weird because they'd blow-up on it, and it's not like they were short striking it either...it was just BOOM!!...and then I'd reel down to eel the ish, and they just weren't there! It was very rusterating. And yes, I did ind the big ish that Aaron caught in the last 30 minutes o the tournament. I ound it at 1:00, and decided my best bet or catching up with Tom was to catch that ish, so I spent the last 30 minutes going or her. So Aaron, technically, you can't even say that you could've won i you caught her in the tournamentm because there was no chance o that since I was the one ishing or it. HAR! But ya, I spent the 30 minutes trying to catch her, but then I let Aaron go or her...seeing as to how I had to leave or work and didn't have the hour and 45 minutes that Aaron took to catch her...har har! d:o)
City: AntiochTips: Topwater is working better in the middle o the day than in the mornings...drop-shot bite is also there or ya...

Water Temp: 69
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Started at about 6:30 Am. Fished rom boat using natural color Dead Ringers ished on Drop Shot rigs. Found Smallmouth Bass right away along shore in about 5-10 eet o water. Fish were in the 1/2 pound to 1 1/2 lb range.Caught numerous smallies and some LMB up to 1 1/2 pounds. LMB hit Yamamoto Sinkos in watermelon color. As day progressed we migrated to the south end o the lake and started picking up more smallies on the west side in deeper water down to about 20'. Caught one 6 pound LMB at about 4:30 Pm across rom Ruth Rec Campground. Fish hit all day, although it was slower during the mid day heat. Had to leave at 7:30 Pm but ish were still biting. Wind picked up during the day and didn't subside much even in the evening, but along west side it was ishable.
City: EurekaTips: Natural colored plastics seem to work best. Yamamoto lures worked best or LMB except or the one 6 pounder. She took a dead ringer ished Deep and slow. Used 8 pound line. Heaveier line spooked them .

Trinity Lake
-
Water Temp: Low 70's
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Fished tuesday and Wed. with a party rom Redwood City. Tues. was pretty good Wed. was not. Ive never been able to igure out why Trinity can be so hot one day and cold the next with no apparent condition change. Well, it all became perectly clear yesterday. We were ishing the East Fork and a couple trolled by and I asked them how they were doing. They replied that they had been doing really well until today when the ishing had really gone cold. He went on to say that there had to have been a small earthquake as that would shut the ish down every time. At Last!!! I now have the perect excuse or those tough days! Just when you think you've heard it all.
City: WeavervilleTips: Gitzits still seem to be the hot bait or smallies. Flats are holding extraordinary numbers o ish to 3 lbs. You just have to wade through a lot o smaller ish. Downsize your tackle a little, those 2 lb smallies don't have an ounce o quit in them.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Launched out o the Break today to ish some new water. Caught over 30 ish during the course o the day...Best ive went 12+. Caught majority o my ish in the Break and Dutch slough area which were both new to me. Best ish came on Jigs per usual...Also did a lot o drop shotting and managed to get a 3+ and a ton o snakes. Threw rogs later in the day and had (1) blow up and two rolls, but not takers. Wind really came up strong ater 1:00 PM.
City: Discovery BayTips: Didn't get out early enough to throw anything but a rog. Green/Brwn combination on the jig was the ticket. Also, caught a large striper on the jig (swimming it) and a large 8+ lb catish. All bites were when the bait was moving...Fished deeper water with current. Watch out or the cruisers who happen to ride three eet away rom your boat while you're ishing...wish I had a gun with me...Stay sae...TG.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Put in at BigBreak or a little aternoon rog'n today. Wind seamed to start blowing as soon as we launched, my luck. Fished rom 4 to 9 in the Break and Emerson throwing nothing but the rog. Caught six ish with three keeping and had another our ish slap at the rog. All o our ish came in Emerson except or a 5#'er that I caught in the marina to end the day. Still waiting or the real rog bite to turn on.
City: BrentwoodTips: All o our ish came tight to the bank in shade. Calm water was also a plus.

Water Temp: ?
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Got to the lake at 12:00 noon. I started throwing a Rodstrainer buzzbait by Channel Point and got one little hit while I wasn't looking. Didn't hookup though. I went across the bridge and threw my G-Splash and got a little 13ozer at 2:00. I went down a ew yards on the island and threw my trusty Chart./White Persuader with the cut out blade. I got a ew hits rom some small (6-12in.) bass but they couldn't even eat the lure. I got a 2-6 at 2:30. It was really chunky. It ought pretty good or as big as it was. It elt alot bigger. It started to swim into the tules and kind o under a tree but I yanked it out with my braided line beore it could bury in too deep. Then I ound this red shad worm on the ground and put it on my ultra lite and threw it out. I reeled it in like a crankbait and got bit but missed it. Just a little guy. Then at 4:15 I got a pretty good one on the buzzbait. It went 3-3. It too was really at. My irst 3lber at Loma and a good at one too. It elt a lot bigger also. I went over by the boat ramp and got a 1lb. 13oz. bass at 4:40. It too was really at and ought good. Then what happened next made me kind o sick and is still bothering me. I was reeling in my buzzer and there was a log in the water right in ront o it. I didn't want to get it snagged so when it got close I went to jerk it out o the water. Right when it was about to come out o the water a bass blew up on it and I only had it on or a split second. Judging by the size o the blow up and the weight o the ish that I elt or that brei moment o time, I'd say it was at least 5lbz. Maybe bigger. That was it or the day. I also hoad aobut 10 6-12in. bass hit my buzzbait but not a one o them hooked up. Stupid little terds.
City: AntiochTips: Buzzbaits around grass and tules. Also try popper.
