      Report: Tossed worms today from about 8am to noon and to my surprise a fair fishing day. Managed to catch 16 spotted bass with a few smallies mixed in. Most fish 25-35 feet down, some even at 40 foot. Caught nothing less then 25 feet. To my surprise, got a nice fat 8 pound catfish that had me thinking I had the toad we all look to catch. It was the most talking catfish I ever caught, croaked the whole time out of the water. Hooked it about 35 feet down. Bite was very light, so light that I never felt much at all, other then the rod load up letting me know fish were in the mood. Ramp looking great this trip, seems they understand they need to work it now and then to keep it safe. Hurry up rains, need water. More trees being exposed

      Tips: Work it slow and look for that ever so slight bump. Fish deeper then your used too, better fishing deeper.

      Report: Weather: Cloudy, raining
      Lake Level: Rising tide\Best Depths: 4-10 feet has been best, although a few shallower fish were flipped yesterday.
      The falling temps are moving Delta bass closer to winter patterns. Fishing has been a grind still and requires moving and trying various areas and conditions. Rip baits have been providing the majority of our bites every day, yet with the temps still fall

      Tips: Locate the bait and you will be able to catch fish cast after cast. Small 2" to 4" baits have been working best.

      Report: started in Franks Tract, lot of smaller fish on a 6" dropshot in Robo MM and deeper red colors. lots of ripbait fish too up to 2.5lbs. endless amount of dinks-2 lbs. went down river and cranked rock walls with better fish to 3 lbs. finally decided to go shallow looking for a big bite. got into some water off main channel near good current on a flat in the afternoon. lost a TOAD, boated a 3.5, 4 and 5.25 in 20 minutes tossing bigger baits.

      Tips: listen to your bites, don't get caught up thinking they aren't biting or only biting finesse presentations. fall afternoons can pay off when the sun has warmed water even if a couple of degrees.

      Report: I went out with Albert and John this past week. The weather was perfect and the lake was calm. The water temperature was 64 degrees. We had a good day and our three largest bass were 2+ up to 5 pounds (see photo). The next day I went out with Sunshine and headed towards the ranch house. We fished that area for a while and saw lots of smaller bass. I was hoping the trout would be closer to the surface but they weren't in this area. But I heard that they were coming to the surface by the dam. I met Hudson and his friend Devine who were casting for bass at the launch ramp and they showed me a trout they had caught and when I spoke to Hudson's dad Justin he showed me pictures of the bass they had caught up to 6 pounds. He said he used large minnows and was fishing in 30 feet of water at the points and were getting hits left and right(see photos). This coming weekend I'm looking forward to getting some trout action as the water gets colder. 'til next week...........................................good fishing!!!!

      Report: Well, someone has to do a recent report - so, here it is. A friend and I launched out of the Oaks ramp Tues about 4:30 pm. Ramp is still fine, but when taking out my Z521, I noticed the back trailer wheel went off the ramp. So, we're getting close. Hopefully, the predicted rain in the next week will come to past!! We fished until 9:15 pm with most of our action about 8 pm. I started off with a dink, which are rare when they move off-shore in the fall. The story is that the fishing was pretty good but the catching - not so good. I lost two over 5 lbs and one probably so, and he also lost a bigger one. I landed a 4 lb 7 oz and he got a 4 1/4, and we each landed a 3 3/4 pounder. We fished from the Oaks up to Henderson. Most of our bites were 10 to 25 feet. It always amazes me how I can loose the bass that smacked the bait, but land the ones that are just "there!" The two big one that I lost nailed the jig, all the others just held on until we became "suspicious"!

      Tips: Because of the lack of cold nights to drop the water temp, I think it is going to be another week or two before we see some bigger bass. Fresh rainwater will help too. As (hopefully) the water becomes colder, short, compact baits should become more attractive to the larger bass. The D&M Piranha swim jig and like baits will attract cold water bass too. Beaver type baits are excellent in the winter!

      Report: Did a little fishing today at Lake Oroville from 8am to 11:15 am. Not a great bite today. Managed to catch just 9 spotted bass with the largest right at 15", all others the basic 13-14 inch range. Fish were caught mostly about 30 foot or so, Other fisherman said slow for them too.!! Storm coming in with rain tomorrow, so the changing low pressure probably messed the bite up.

      Report: The spoonmeister, Rick Tietz and I hit Berryessa Friday, out of Markley Cove. I can almost say we fished the whole lake!! Yes, we were looking for the best bite! I think the full moon may have slowed the day bite. We did well on the Blade Runner 1 3/4 oz spoons around 10:30 am 'til noon. The rest of the day gave us one here and one there - and they got smaller. The good hour did produce some great smallie fishing with several from 3 to 3 3/4 lbs. Couldn't get anything bigger. I did catch a few small largemouth and Rick did get a near 3 1/2 lb spotted bass. Nearly all action was on smallies. Our best 5 were a solid 18 lbs - most of those caught in a one hour period.

      Tips: Other than a nice topwater bass I lost at dusk, all our bass were caught on spoons, mostly using Rick's new UV morning dawn color. Black shad worked some, but not as well as previous trips. The average depth of our hookups was about 40 feet - mostly far off-shore. To look at all the exposed structure with your own eyes as opposed to on a meter is simply amazing! One finds oneself saying "so that's what that hump looks like!!!!"

      Report: fished tourney Sat 11-8. Pretty good action all day. Weather was perfect. Every single fish caught of graph at depths from 25 to 50 ft.

      Tips: Don't pound the banks. the fish are deeper.

      Report: Tossed worms today with Jeff, weird start. Going to meet at Bidwell, to our surprise, ramp was closed, so went to the spillway to launch. Finally got on the water a tad past 8am, hit a point fairly close to the launch ramp and got a few spots, 30 foot or so down. Wind blowing pretty good, so left to fish a spot without the blow. Fished a steep bank and got 6-8 fish, maybe more, again most fish around the 30 foot mark. Left to another point and got more fish, same, about 30-35 foot mark. Left to fish our first point going in and got a few more. No big fish, top mark about 14 1/2", most looking fat. We ended up with 21 fish for our half day trip. They were trying to fix the ramp up when we got back, laying gravel, getting the mud gone. Should last a few days!!

      Tips: When you find fish, stay on that location and give it a chance for more fish. Fish deeper and slower this time of year. We have not fished less then 25 feet down these days. Today we used Carolina rigs with no noise maker, just weight and bobber stoppers. Me, I like to fish straight down, less hang ups.

      Report: fished 6am to 12 noon, second cast on a whopper plopped BLAM!!#@ fish on 2lber then fished stanly blvd cranking caught a few nothing big. fished the pan handle and the cove near the second dock no luck. lost a fish on a trout pattern crank off about 10+ ft maybe bass but have had trout grab my baits fish in for bass.

      Tips: Get out there and fish for bass. Follow the trout and the fisherman after the trout. there are hefty hawgs in there.

      Report: Mike Sperbeck and I made our final trip for the year Wed and Thurs, and found the fishing to be simply great (as well as the weather) - especially the second day as the storm clouds were approaching. The lake was as flat as I have ever seen it with heavy fog in the early morning. The fishing might have been as good as I have every seen it - during the day. We spend both days on the east shore fishing mostly off-shore structure - some of it now good since the lake is down 18+ feet. As last year, we caught fish at all depths, this year from 13 to 60 feet!! While we could not break 4 lbs, we caught more 3 to 3 3/4 lb smallies than I have ever seen in one trip. We used a variety of small plastics, mostly in green and brown colors. I tried spooning for the first time and caught several on a 3/4 ounce Blade Runner spoon. Could not get much of a Senko bite and only a few on a jig. Our best five for the second day weighed between 17 1/2 to 18 lbs. Again, these are some of the most gorgous, hard fighting smallies in the state!

      Tips: Again - a warning about Almanor wind!! As mentioned, Thurs the lake was as calm as I have ever seen it - something like Clear Lake on a cold winter night. About 4 pm at little breeze picked up from the west - in about 5 minutes - shifted to the south. We were up near Big Cove. I just had a feeling - maybe the Lord spoke to me - we needed to get back to the dam - quick! "Reel in Mike - we're outta here!" We immediately hit the Almanor version of the famous Tahoe "black line!" Always beware of afternoon storm winds - Almanor is a big, open water lake! A very bumpy end to a great trip. Man, I love my Ranger Z521!!!

      Report: Tossed worms today on my weekly fishing trip today. Slow bite again, only 11 fish for my half day trip and nothing over 14 1/2". Fish were a tad deeper today, all fish from 30 feet to 40 feet, most about 35 feet. Lake is 237 feet down from full pool.

      Report: Tossed worms from 7am to 11 am today, didn't do so good this trip. Just couldn't find the fish, other then the basic one here and there fishing. Only got 11 spots today, all the basic 13-14". Wondering where are the fish today. All fish taken off points in about 30 ft of water. No cove fish,or boulder fish. Better days next week.

      Report: Friday I went out with Bob and boy what a great time we had!!! At first we were catching small bass but it was a lot of fun almost every cast brought a fish in. We were using P & K lures and they were great. Bob's largest bass was 5+ pounds (see photo). The following morning I took Rich out to show him the lake and some of my favorite spots to fish. He caught four nice small mouth bass. We spent most of the day exploring the lake from the Narrows to the Boy Scout Camp area and from Big Island to Spanish Flat. He was marking the waypoints for future reference while the water is low. Late afternoon I took my buddy Marvin out and headed towards the ranch house where I had seen huge bait balls earlier. We went back and forth through the bait balls and landed 21 bass ranging from 2.5 to 4 pounds each constantly culling the bass till we had 10 nice size fish (see photos). The following day Marv and I headed out again but the water which had been like glass the day before was now white caps with three foot swells. I tried to find a decent place to shelter the boat but it didn't work the water was too rough. We took our time to get to the Narrows but it was bad everywhere. I took a chance and went to a cove near the ranch house I thought would be ideal. It was still rough but manageable and we landed 32 bass from 2 to 5 pounds it was a fishing frenzy we had at least five double hookups here Marv had to net his fish and then mine because I couldn't leave the steering wheel go(see photos). What an incredible few days of fishing!!! My buddy Albert was fishing from the shore with two rods, one set up for bass and one for catfish. He didn't do great on bass but he landed a 17.5 pound catfish (see photo). Good job Albert!!!! "til next time........................good fishing!!!!!

      Report: Fished from Franks to Potato slough. Got about 15-20 combo fish, but they were all small with nothing over 2lbs, including the stirpers.       Tips: In the early a.m. topwater walking baits will help you locate schoolie stripers. Wish I knew what was doing to give you more tips.
