Water Temp: 80
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Beore I make this report, I saw something that made me sick. Someone had caught a 9.75 lb bass yesterday morning and walked up the hill to have a photo taken and have it weighed. I guess he was going to release it or something but, o couse, it died quickly in the heat. The management said this was not the irst time that this individual has killed a big bass or no reason - he didn't even want to eat it. I saw this dead bass and yes, it did make me sick!! What a waste!!Anyway, I ished with my good riend and ellow Amador expert Rick Tietz. I had not been to Amador on a weekend or some time and did not know that it is now ashionable to ish in the dark o the moon!! Wow - have a ew boats. We ound ishing to be very slow and there was not any surace activity to speak o. Boats were moving all the time beore dark, and not seeing any caught, I elt it might have been slow or others too. Ater using the 10" Power worm with no success, I switched to the Junebug Dead Ringer worm, and caught our irst ish - about 13 inches. We both had lost a good ish beore dark and missed 2 ater dark. Around midnight, ishing a main lake point, I got a eeble tap and set the hook. She was a at 5-10, rom about 15 eet o water. We caught a ew more small ones and then Rick got a 2 1/2 and two about 1 1/2 on worms. At irst light and a little ater, there still wasn't any surace activity, so we ished deep water. Near the mouth o Jackson, I hooked a strong 5-4 on a brown/orange Weapon jig in about 30 eet o water. Rick soon ollows with a 4-2, also in about 30 eet, on an 11" worm. Hunger and sleep called, and we let several boats that had just started, ready to battle the heat!
City: Yuba CityTips: We tried some slick baits plus the traditional ones, but the ish just wern't eating much. Our Lowrance X-15 revealed the thermocline had dropped to about 30 eet, with many o the bass suspended above the bait - not a good sign. Not many ish on the bottom eeding. The jig seems to be working better in the daylight now, and the worm better at night. A lot o the weeds have disappeared, and thus, the rog bite is about over - at least or the time being.

Report: Well, it was my irst time ever on this lake so i drove around looking , until i saw bass busting shad in the back o a cove.Landed a ew ish (not much size) there beore dark on a shad pattern sluggo.Ater dark i had to move out on main lake points to get strikes worming.Biggest bass was probably 2# barely, tu bite or me, but i will be back or some more research, especially since im aced with going head to head w/my good buddy Joe Bruce on this lake in a week.... :)
City: ModestoTips: it seemed like ater dark a dark color worm looked best, and also areas that shad were wadded up in

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fished the Amador night tournament and got skunked out. Couldn't even get a nibble. I did ish a cove where two guys in a rinky dink Coleman Crawdad were pulling ish out like there was no tomorrow o o a point. It was a ully loaded Crawdad including a black light, blinding spotlight, ish inder, and build-in cooler. They told me they were catching bass up to 5 pounds on Senkos. Not sure o the color or rigging though. All I kept hearing in the dark was "Get the net, it's a big one". I'm glad someone was catching.
City: IoneTips: I'm digging out my Crawdad rom the basement, my Ranger didn't cut it Sat. night.

Water Temp: 78
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: In the two weeks since I have been to Amador, things have really changed! The water has cleared up a lot and many o the weed mats that had ormed have broken up, maybe 'cause the water has dropped 2 eet. Anyway, tried a Snagproo rog or an hour beore meeting my client and had 2 air blowups and then had a 7 or so pounder leap out o the water ater the rog, but missed! What a kick to see, though!!! My client and I started ishing about 6 PM (Thurs) and ound ishing very slow. It didn't surprise me because the terriic Sierra thunderstorm activity was spilling over into the oothills and I have always ound that weather pattern to slow the bite. About 9 PM I was ishing a brown/orange Weapon jig in the main body and elt something "chewing" on my jig - NO bite! I set anyway and was rewarded with a 6-12 bass - somewhat skinny but a strong ighter. Ater dark we couldn't get much going - both o us were working worms. I was ishing a point in Jackson creek when I again elt a little pressure on my black/chartreuse 10 inch Power Worm. I set with all the orce I could, knowing my 30# Fireline could take it. One o the greatest eeling in bass ishing is when you do that and NOTHING MOVES - at least i it is not a snag! Finally she bucked her head and the ight was on. A beautiul, at bass showed up in the net, all 8 lbs 11 oz o her! The next bass on the 10 inch worm was a 10 inch bass!! Talk about variety! I managed another 3 pounder near the dam and that was it! My client had three bites but wasn't able to put one in the boat. However, he was very excited to learn so much about the lake and see how these bass are caught. It really was slow, but I guess one would have to say that it was a pretty good "slow night"! Three bass or 18 1/2 pounds is a good average.
City: Yuba CityTips: Some o the bigger bass hanging around shallow water have now seemed to have moved to deeper water - probably as a result o the major heat wave o last week. The two big bass were about 20 eet deep. Because o the rontal movement, there were ew eeding bass on the surace and the shad were deeper. I think the summer pattern has begun. Good luck. It is nice to know the they will still take a jig, although not with much enthusiasm.

Water Temp: 85
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fished the annual Basin Bassmasters tourney on 7-19. Overall a tough night. We started at 7pm on Fri. and weighed in at 7am on Sat. There was a total o 12 teams and only 2 limkits were weighed in the irst hal and 0 limits weighed in the 2nd hal. I lucked out and got 8.9 on a topwater and that with a small earlier limit was good enough or my partner John Kort and I to win the tourney with 15 1/2 pounds or so. There was also an 8.2 weighed in the second hal that ell or a 10in. PW. As you can see by the previous report rom Larry Hemphill, it is tough out there with the alling water and hot temps.
City: RosevilleTips: Tough to say. We caught most o early ish on topwater, but they were pretty small. We also got some ish on darter heads in 20 t o water. We tried shallow and deep during the night, but only got the one big ish on top. We did have to more blow ups on top water right beore day light that didn't hook up, but they were huge blow that sounded like the same size ish I had caught earlier. Also, caught some nice catish on blades and cranks. Even though it was slow, it was a beautiul night or ishing.

Report: got there early and started ishing points no luck so i went in search o bass bustin' the shad. caught 4 little ones on a popper(biggest 1#)then i started to ish weeds caught one about 3# on a sumo rog and my partner got a 9# trout on a diamond shad (looks like a ratltrap)no more so went to coves and caught a ew on white grubs, zippers, and watermelon/red lake twister tails. saw one more bunch o bass bustin on shad and threw out a 4'' color#301 senko and ended up with a 4# bass last i ish in the cove right by the launch ramp and lost two nice ish on a white spinnerbait all in all a good day
City: elk groveTips: i think your best bet at bigger ish is using senkos around the bass bustin shad and white spinnerbaits in coves

Water Temp: 77-80
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: I had two successul guided trips Tues and Wed evenings, and an even better solo Wed aternoon outing between trips!! The irst evening started about 7 PM where my client missed a ew on black rogs. I noticed that the water really had a green tint to it, so I decided to try a white/chartreuse Terminator spinnerbait. Good choice - a 6-2 inhaled it in about 2 eet or water. Very exciting!! We worked topwater beore dark with some success - sadly the client lost a good one in the weeds. Ater dark the bite was pretty good on worms and black/chartreuse 10 inch Yamamoto grubs. Use a big hook or those things!! I lost a big one with a hook that was too small. We wound up with nine or ten in the boat - should have had many more, but my client just had trouble getting them to stay on the hook. Average size was about 2 pounds. Wed aternoon I ished or about 4 hours (1 to 5 PM) and had a ball! I used the 6 inch #301 Senko and my avorite "old style" green Snagproo rog and landed 8 bass or a limit o 22 1/2 pounds! Biggest was between 5 1/2 and 6 on the rog and I lost a bigger one 'cause I orget to reset my drag ater the previous rog ish. Stupid!! I couldn't igure out why it was so breezy and warm instead o the hot weather that was predicted. My Wed evening client told me about the sudden change in the orcast when he arrived. Well, that was great or the day, but it did slow down the night ishing as a cool ront always does. The topwater bite was much slower as we ished rogs, poppers, and Senkos. I did manage a 5 pounder on the rog and a ew smaller ones and my client got a ew on poppers. We did ok at night, catching about 16 up to 4 1/2 pounds. The 6 inch Berkley black/chartreuse Pulse worm was the hot ticket. 10 inch Power worms worked too. The big 10 inch grub didn't work so well the second night. Even caught one on a jig. There were no hot spots - we ished all over the lake. Added highlights: I caught an 8 pound catish at the dam on a magnum Wiggle Wart - what a hit!!!!! Second night - my irst catish on a topwater lure - about 4 pounds! In the aternoon trip, I caught a bullrog on the Snagroo rog. Is this mating season? She ate it, but ater a ew photos I was able to release the rog unharmed. What is Amador coming too?!!! Nice drive home - lots o un and happy clients!
City: Yuba CityTips: We saw lots o shad schools, but only small bass were ater them, and not with too much eort. As I have suspected through the years, June oten oers better daylight ishing than night ishing. I think the better night ishing will start sometime in July. One reason the bass were so shallow or us was that the lake had come up again as they release water rom Pardee. Amador is only 2 eet rom ull, which tends to keep good quality bass shallow through the post-spawn period.

Report: Again, went to try my luck. This time the evening crankbait bite produced a 5.3 lb ish to go along with the other smaller ish. The nite bite was again slow - only a ew 1-2 lb ish. Fished rom 5 pm till 2 am.

Water Temp: 80+
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Fished rom 5pm to 2am, caught 12 beore dark, 6 ater dark. Biggest bass was 7.1 lbs., the rest ranged rom 2 to 5 lbs. A brown and dark green 1/2 oz. jig was the ticket, tipped with a super pork bubba rog, in brown. Also partner caught a 10 lb. catish on a jig.
City: Citrus HeightsTips: Fish the outside edges o the main lake points, rom 10 to 20 eet. Grass is a problem, but there's plenty o bare spots. Did not ind a topwater bite, suspect that is a morning thing now.

Water Temp: 78-80
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Best ishing day o the year or me and my son. Morning we got 8. largest was a 5.5 pounder on a clear/green Keeper. At night I landed my largest bass o the year, a 8.3 pounder on a jig. 7 more caught during the evening with the moon almost ull. all were good at ones. Gonna try again Sunday, ater I get back rom the NASCAR race at Sears Point. Moon should still be out.
City: ModestoTips: Worms and jigs worked well or me. My son got some crankin too.

Water Temp: 77
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fished rom 6:30 pm till 1 am. There was a good crankbait bite in the late evening although the ish were mostly small. Nite bite was slow and were small ish. Picked up around 15: 1-2 on topwater, couple on jigs, couple on worms (nite), remainder on crankbait.
City: FolsomTips: Chartreuse blue back Deep Little N. Probably a shallower running bait to avoid the weeds would have been even better.

Water Temp: 78
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Hit the lake around 5:30 pm. We got bit on jigs (black/blue), junebug Berkeley Power hogs, white blade spinnerbaits, and the good 'ol chart/blue back Deep Little N all beore dark - biggest going about 4.4. Ater dark we got ish on black/chart jig and 10" and 12" red shad power worms. Biggest ive went 6.5, 5.4, 4.6, 4.4, 3.0. We let around 12:30 am so the ishing was better than usual. Most ish came rom about 12' with a slow to deadstick retrieve (except or the reaction baits). My riend lost a nice one on a swim bait at dusk. It was windy until around 9:30 pm then it dropped o to the normal levels. Some o the ish looked pretty skinny - spawned out.
City: FolsomTips: Fish came rom all over - Rock Creek, Mountain Spring, Jackson. Points and regular banks - the steeper banks seemed to pay o better.

City: AuburnTips: Don't just pass a spot up without tossing at it at least 10 times. Had some chase a spinner but no hookups all small..

Water Temp: 70
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: I guided the past two late aternoon-nights with two ellows each trip. Tues night was very cool with a strong east breeze and the north wind had blown all day. We only managed 6 bass but the trip was still a good one as a client nailed a 6 pound bass, just beore dark, on my new avorite color Senko #301. He caught it near the spillway. We did get 3 bass beore dark on Senkos and I caught my irst Amador topwater ish o the year - about 2 1/2 lbs on a Chug Bug. There was very little surace activity both evenings, probably because o all the wind. The next night was warmer with very little east breeze and as a result the ishing was hot! We landed 22 bass with one o the ellows landing a 5 pounder on the same #301 Senko, about 8:30 PM. The best bite was ater dark with the shallow ish on a good bite. The top bait was the junebug Dead Ringer worm. We only got one ish deeper than 10 eet, but it was a 4-9! We caught bass all over the lake. The ellow that caught the 5 said he wanted to catch one more good one and the next (last) cast he caught a 3 pounder. Our 5 biggest weighed 17 lb 2 oz.
City: Yuba CityTips: Saw a lot o big ish suspended, but they wouldn't bite. I looked around or awhile on Wed aternoon and saw some big ish still shallow, but they wouldn't bite at night.

Water Temp: 67
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: I just read the previous report and thought I could shed some light on his "no bass" report. Phil - don't eel bad. I went with the tacklerep (Rick) the very next day at the same time (3 to 8 PM). I really didn't go with the idea o repeating his great catch, but to prove my theory that when big bass eed a certain day or night, they don't repeat the eed bag the next day. And I was interested in what the incoming cold ront would have. Well, to put it mildly, timing is everything!!!! In the ive hours we ished, I caught one 10" bass and Rick caught one close to 2 lbs just beore we quit. I believe I heard the expression "I can't believe this!" at least ten times rom my good ishin' buddy!! The lake had totally changed - baitish, bluegill, and bass! And so, the old adage - "you should have been here yesterday" - is alive and well!!! I believe another riend o mine was ishing the lake the next night too, and did very poorly.
City: Yuba CityTips: Actually when you hear the ishing was great a certain day, you might want to wait a day or two beore trying to repeat the good report. I oten like to ish a lake when I hear the ishing is slow. I will wait or a warming trend and then go. It usually has to get better. Or the ish simply are deeper than most anglers are ishing.
