Report: Fished the Delta March 23 thru March 29. Saw the good, bad, and the ugly. Stayed at Russo's Marina on Frank's Tract. Too much wind to fish the Break or Sherman Island. Fished the old River, Little Mandeville, Discovery Bay etc. Had one 14 fish day. Cranking and spinner baits in the tules. Red rattle trap and white/white blades. Also had a two fish day on our last day. Wind was howling. Ed Slatter and Chuck Russo came in with a 10 lb and an 8 in their live well that same day. They ran south and found some warm water in the backs of coves at high tide. Pitching and flipping in 3-4 of water. They also had several 5s, 4s and 2&3s. Pretty discourageing to catch two fish and see a string like that come in. The barameter and the water temp was up and down like a yo yo while we were there.
    City: Bend OR

Tips: Tips: If the bite is poor and the water is cold, find some warmer water! There are 10 and 8 pounders swimming around the docks at Russo's Marina!

Report: Fished on Monday, That was a mistake!!! It was cold and windy, windy, windy. Only caught 4 fish. One on a jig, two on junebug brush hogs and one on a spinner bait. Very low tide in the south in the am and couldn`t get anything going until after noon as the tide came in. That low tide can be tough for me. Will be out again this Thursday with my son, so I hope these cold fronts have stoped by then. Keep a tight line. The Fisherman

Report: Fished last Tuesday with the brother inlaw. had a good day with over 2 limits form 2 to 4lb fish. Most all cought on jigs with one caught on a crank bait and one on a spinner bait. On monday of this week fished with Dan whom I met on line on this site. We caught over 2 limits on black and blue jigs from 2 to 3 1/2lbs. Thanks Dan, I`am glad you had a good day. I like people to catch fish when they go with me. It`s a lot more fun. The bite is still on, on black and blue jigs, just ask Dan. worked real slow around tullies and on rip rap. Most of the fish I catch on blades and cranks have been on the small side. The nicer fish have come on jigs. Keep a tight line.
    City: Livermore

Tips: Tips: Keep flipping and pitching black and blue jigs.

Report: Fished North Delta Monday (What's new for Hippie) morning was blue bird and warm, the spinnerbait bite I had going died. I knew that the front was moving in and as soon as the tide turned and the clouds covered the bite would turn on. Sure enough after 2 1/2 hours of no bites Dad flipped a fat 2 1/2 lb male, bout five minutes later he got another buck about 2. I am still biteless so I decide to hit a good spot I had not fished in awhile. Pulled in and Dad flips another 2, move on down the bank and Wham I stick another 7.4, yes two weeks in a row a 7.4, i move on down and stick a three another three and decide lets crank some riprap with the cloud cover and warm temps. First cast with a firetiger green Fat Free Shad anohter 3+, move on down and get about four more on this bank all in the three + range fat bueaties. Go back to filppin and we both get a couple more nice fish. ended up being a great day on the water with Dad. Two weeks in a row 5 fish for over 20 lbs. I am happy.
    City: Sacramento

Tips: Tips: Went to flippin a green 7 inch lizard and crankin the green firetiger and the bite turned on. Still say ya gotta have the cloud cover Blue bird makes it tough.

Report: I finally got a limit here in the great state of California. I was fishing a Contra Costa Bass Club Tournament on the Delta. My "non boater" said he knew a place to try our luck and we went there. I threw a single gold Colorado blade with a white round rubber skirt and a twin tail chartreuse trailer. We were in about 5' of water in among scattered tulles. I just did a slow roll. I ended up second in the tournament with 12.55lbs. That may not be a huge weight for some but it's the heaviest weight I've had in the 8 years I've been in California and I just wanted to crow a bit. Tight lines to everyone!!!!

Report: Fished franks track and mildred, Had prety good luck in the morning when the tide was up. When the tide went out we lost our fish. We picked up a few more scattered fish during the day but not much to talk about. The front moved in as we were fishing and I think that also helpted shut down the bite.
    City: Dixon

Tips: Tips: Fish are starting to do better on crank baits. Try anything in red that does not go to deep. Tick the top of the grass beds. Lost one over 8lbs on friday. Black and blue jigs still working, saw one guy throwing a buzzer but he had no luck. Fish slow on the scattered tolies.

Report: Fish the Delta 2 to 3 days a week. The bite is excellent on black and blue jigs with Zoom big chunk pork in blue flake or light blue colors. Almost all fish are in the 2 to 4 lb class. I pitch the jig and work it slowly back to the boat. Have caught 2 to 3 limits every day out. I fish during the week, so I don`t see many fisherman except Dee. He`s everywhere and I`ve known him for over 30 years. (Good Stick for a old man) You can catch fish all over the Delta. Don`t be afraid to explore new areas.
    City: Livermore

Tips: Tips: Black and blue jigs flipped or pitched.

    Water Temp: 52 to 61

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Launched at Ladds traveled up Whites to Tower Park went by B&W down to fishermens cut up by Mildred Island and back to Ladds. Found fish all over fished brushogs, flipped and spinnerbaited. Whenever we found water temp in the 55 degree range the fish loved the blades the hotter the water the faster you cranked the bait and the more agreesive the strikes.
    City: Modesto

Tips: Tips: Keep an eye on the temp as it can change a couple degrees in just 50 feet. We found a 200 yards section that went from 54 to 61 degree water. The fish were there and on the bite!

Report: Fished Delta Sunday, you all know me North Delta. The morning was pleasant 10 - 12 mph winds outgoing Tide all morning. Fished 6:45 - 10:30 the third cast with white on white 1/2 oz. spinnerbait slow rolled over a log 7.4 lb. Went back to Marina for pictures and a official weight. I then took her back and put her on the same Log move on down the bank about 25 yards another submerged log slow rolled identically nothing worked the log real hard fourth cast and wham a 5.1. Not a bad start to the day. I proceeded to catch a few more keepers then lost my one and only spinnerbait of that liking in the boat. So I swichted to red and gold with gold blades caught a few more in the 3 lb range. Then went to flippin brush hogs and a couple more fish. Thought I am having a good day tried Crankin a green firetiger fat free shad wham and a couple more. All in all Weighed all my larger fish and had 5 for 21 lbs. all in a 1 1/2 mile strech. Called it a day and went home.
    City: Sacramento

Tips: Tips: It was obvious to me that after loosing the White on White spinnerbait the fish got smaller but were still quality. I think the cloud cover had them on the bite.

Report: Went out on the 13th. Fishing was good again. The weather was very foggy in the morning and people were getting lost. We heard several boats asking themselves were they were and how to get to their hot spots. It's a good thing my partner knows the delta like the back of his hand so we didn't have to waste time wandering lost in the fog. My partner and I caught 14 fish with a few 3 lbs-ers. We fished the west delta and caught most of our fish using a crankbait bait, but the the few that came on the jig & pig were of better quality.

Report: Lots of fishermen were out on the water today but I managed to have a fairly good day. Fished sparse tules and rocks and caught 19 bass. Only 7 of the 19 were keepers. Biggest fish went 2.5 pounds. I can't seem to catch any big bass. I had most of my success fishing baby brush hogs, zipper worms, and crawdad pattern speed traps.
