Report: A friend and I launched out of Lazy 'M' at 8:00 this morning to do some fishing down south. We first went over and threw topwater around Coney Ils. and that did'nt produce anything. Switched to a white blade and caught a 3.5 on the back side of Coney (whe re the huge house is). After that we went to Italian Sl. and caught 8 more on jigs, blades, and topwater. All fish ranged from 1 to 3lbs. It was a tough bite for the amount of time we spent out there. The bigger fish came on the blades...Jim

Report: The Delta! Well I fished it again, we had a limit by about 7:30. Our fish were all about 2 lb . We got fish on top water in the morning and flipped our fish after that. I would not call it a good bite. There was boats with no fish and one fish, we were one spot out of the money. Keep your lines wet and have fun. Rick K of Ca for Champion Boats.

Report: Fished from 8-3 today in and around Frank's Tract. Caught 4 small 12-14" on whitelue ProModel Spinnerbait, and caught 4 others around low tide with 14oz. Strike King buzzbait. Tried Frogs on the mats, and flipping, but had no luck. Also tried for St ripers with Rattletraps, but just had a few follows. Saw the other bassers mainly flippin' and pitchin' but don't know how it went for them. It was hot out there, so it would be better early and late. --Tight lines--

Report: Went out of big break in the morning on my friend's boat and threw top waters with no luck. Flipped jigs into tules and caught a few keepers. Caught a 3 pounder on a spinnerbait and my friend also caught a few keepers. The real action came in the afternoon when we fished weed mats with frogs. Caught 7 between the two of us with my 6 pounder being the biggest. Weed lines also produced big for us.

Report: Took ole Besse out on her maiden fishing trip yesterday, break in is done so to speak and it was back to fishing. Went out with Ray Martinez on a special Jig lesson trip. We started ou though tossing topwater as the word was that bite was now in full swin g, Yeah right, NOT! 1:30 never got a boil on top water. I turned to Ray and said, it's time for your jig lesson. Went out to Dutch and pulled on a levee point and commenced to Kerthunk em! No really big fish, but enough to start the day right. Then decide d to start showing him different techniques and patterns and all hell broke loose. We pulled up to a nothing bank and musta stuck six fish over 3 pounds on that brown jig. I tried the black one and Ray was just stickin em on the brown. I couldn't get bit, nuff of that, I went back to brown. Rocks and grass, fish were everywhere. It was kinda odd as all these bigger fish were spent females with inverted bellies. Most probably would have been in the four pound or range three weeks ago. Then went off and fli pped some tulles, did so so. The tide was now falling, very slowly, it was dropping but no real movement could be detected. I know what to do when that happens, off to a couple of secrete deep weed lines and KERTHUNK! Found em! Again, no toads but just a lot of solid fish. We bounce around various spots of this nature and just continued to hammer em! It was a great day and we were off the water before 3:00p and probably caught over 70 fish! HAAAPEEEEEEE! Cooch

Report: Been out off and on this last week breaking in the new motor. Have not spent a lot of time fishing but when I do there seems to be a fairly decent crankbait bite. The big Speed trap is working very well right on the bank with sparce tulles and grass. Caug ht some very nice fish on Friday on the top of the high tide. The jig bite continues to be strong, ya gotta be versatile though and rotate the brown and black. It seems it changes from day to day and area to area, I went out Monday with TomG, they were al l over the brown one. While out Friday and today, I really spanked em on the Black one in clearer water. The brown would only work in the stained water areas. We've got a good falling tide this week for the WON Classic, should be some very decent weights.

Once the sun went down behind the levy, the action really picked up. Switched to a buzz bait and finished the day with 13 fish. 7 keepers around 2 lbs. Biggest was 3+. All were caught in 2 to 4 feet of water. Lots of short strikes on buzz bait, even with a trailer hook I missed many fish.

Report: This last weekend I fished the Delta with the Whimpy's team tournament. We had a good turn out. This was the first time I have fished one of Whimpy's tournaments and I will say that it was well ran. The lunch that came with the tournament was good and the air conditioning felt real good in the mid day heat. We fished a 6 hr. tournament. Money to the top 5 places, it took 9.60 lb to make the money. The fishing was not all that good for the most but we did get a number of limits. The water was cloudy with water temp. as low a 64 deg. Last week I fished the West side with 79 deg. water. First thing in the morning most of the fish came to top water for most of the fisherman then some came to blades but most of the fish came flipping when the water started moving, jig's, worm's were both working with little difference to color. Keep your lines wet and good luck. Rick K. of Ca for Champion Boats

Report: Fished the Delta on Sunday 7/19. The water was very stained to muddy. I spent the day from Holland track north to Sherman. Tried jigs, traps and blades. Few fish were caught and they were small. Only 4 keepers were picked up (out of 7 total) and they ranged between 1 and 2 pounds. With the low tide, the grass edges seemed to be the best. No special color seemed to dominate. I tried again on Monday hoping that the water color would improve with less boat traffic. No such luck. After a miserable m orning I lucked on to a 50 to 60 yard stretch in the southwest corner around Coney Island and picked up 10 to 12 fish on a white/chartreuse blade ranging in size from 1.5 to 3.5 pounds. I tried a lot of other things with no real success even in spots tha t normally produce with consistency.

Report: Fished the WCB team this lat weekend. Started out pitching brown 3/8 oz jigs-n-pigs to rocky banks with wood structure on the begining of the outgoing tide. Noticed that we were getting a lot of runnaways, fish were on beds with the full moon. July, imagine that! We then move out west past the Antioch bridge, to catch the lowest tide, and began flipping any and all wooded structure we cold find to upgrade our limit. Culled out all but 1 small 2 pounder doing this. Ran back to Big Break and caught three more cullers on a 4" ring worm to finish off a 19.44 pound 7 fish limit. Took 2nd and the winners had 19.48 with a 6.5 kicker.
