Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fished 4 days the past week between Big Break and Mildred Island. Only pitched and flipped jigs. Bite is good everywhere. The larger fish seen to be in 8 to 10 feet during outgoing and and during incoming tide can be caught up tight in current.(no secret here) Fished outgoing most of the time. Caught 10 to 20 fish each half day. I fished a little slower during the outgoing and had good results. Look for rocks, tules and grass.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fishing was very good this weekend for some and not so good for others. With the passing of the full moon last week and the appearance of fry balls everywhere, it does seem we had a very conducive period for spawning and they got through this one, much be tter than the three previous months. There are 1.5-2.5 pound bucks everywhere. All gaurding fry and easy to catch. Seems that any bait you can keep in contact with the bottom, they will attack it. There also has been an upcomming top water bite. The ch ese mats have already infested their usaul areas and a lot of two pounders can be caught off the mats with frogs and rats. And then there's the occational 10+ like what Gary Howell got in this weekends WCB tournamnet. It is not yet hot enough to drive all of them big Delta sows up under these matts, but the time is nearing. Fishing poppers around shallow grass clumps and clear water is also beggining to turn on. The long lost spinnerbait bite is too just around the corner as many fish are now starting to m ve into their early summertime current positions.

Water Temp: 59-63
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Last weekend the Delta was kicking out some toads. Temperature drops and frontal conditions makes fishing tough for most anglers. But the tournament guys in the WCB Forrest Wood Open managed to adjust and catch a ton of great fish. The temp drop and weather changes have forced the fish off their spawning schedule again for the 3rd consecutive month. The fish have moved back out to the transition areas and are hunkering down in the thick weeds and tulles berms. Fishing these areas with jig-n-pigs will catch the best limits. Best colors are brown & black jigs with various trailors in blue, purple and red. There also hads been an all day crank bite on long rock levees with sparce tulles and weeds. Red Bombers, Speed & Rattle Traps will do the trick. Occ tionally you can nail a toad on a Fire Tiger pattern. Also fish big White/Chartrues spinnerbaits are attracting big bites. If you are out just looking for lots of bites tossing a white Frog or Zoom Fluke into open water pockets, will result in large numbers of 2-3 pounders. Large black worms and lizards have also been very affective on what bedding fish you can find. The top water bite is far and few between, but when it's on, it's on for a day or two and then dissapears for a week.

Report: Our club, Beach Cities Bass, held a two-day tournament fishing out of Ladd's. The front that passed through seemed to turn off the big fish, however on Sunday, one of our guys caught a 9.92 on a firetiger crank. Fish were biting firetiger cranks, obviou sly, and red shad power worms. I caught four on topwater Sunday morning before my engine overheated. Locals towed me to Tiki Lagun, which provided transportation to Ladd's out of the kindness of their hearts. My deepest thanks to all.

Report: Fished the WON Delta team region last Saturday. Due to winds that blew on Thursday, Friday and very heavy on Saturday, the Delta has muddied up signifacantly with the low tides. This made fishing conditions very tough to target the post spawn fish who mov ed onto the beds the previous weekend. We caught a number of fish early on Speed Traps and Bombers, first thing in the morning, working the transitions rock banks leading to/from spawning areas. As the day wore on we moved to the backs of shallow flats an targeted bed fish by dead sticking a Zoom lizard in areas that looked fitting for a bed. Biggest fish of the day was a 4.98 for us. Top weight for the tournament was 23 pounds for 5 fish. So the bigger fish have moved off and were tough to catch. Jigs, 1 in worms and blades were used by the top 10 teams to catch most of the better fish

Report: Weather was rainy in morning, went out in afternoon approaching high tide. Rain just letting up. Wind was picking up out of the west. I fished the wind protect side of heavy rocked banks with tule stands in the central delta. Flipped zipper worms into a nd amoung the tules. Came out with a 3.5 pounder on the second flip. I moved down a little, with only the slightest tap on the line, I set the hook, all hell broke loose as an 8 1/2 pound pre-spawn female came to the surface on the end of the line. She' only my second one over 8.0 this spring. Caught another 4.2 pounder also prespawn. Several smaller fish also. Sixteen pounds for three fish in a little over an hour, what a day. Where are those fish on gameday? tips: Red and orange zipper worm from Wack , 5/0 wide extra wide gap hook, braided line, 1/8 oz. brass and glass. Don't get your drag too tight with braided line. The stretch has to come from somewhere. When the big one hit, the first thing I did was check my drag to make sure it would give just a very little bit when she ran. This makes up for the lack of stretch that you get from mono line.

Report: Fished the WCB team on Saturday April 11. Steve Sapp won this tournament wih an unbelievable bag of 38+ pounds. Barrack & Dobyns took 2nd with ove 33 pounds, Reynold & Stitch took 3rd with over 32 pounds and I believe maybe Dee Thomas had 28 pounds for 4t h. With the passing of the full moon it did bring out the big fish in the South Delta. Knowing these top four guys, It was a big time jig bite! The water tempeature in most of the Delta is still too low to trigger spawning. but in the South end, it does w rm up faster and by the weights appears that bite is on. Rick & I struggled with the Jig bite in the Central Delta. We than found one good bank that I cranked 7 fish to weigh 17.42 pounds. Purty poor showing for this team.
