Report: Fished with Bobby Barrack on Monday throwing sencos, chatterbaits and of coarse frogs, we caught some two and three lbrs through out the day. This guy is awsome, easygoing nice guy but when he is explaining things to ya hes definatley intence. Learned alot about fishing frogs, the prespawn and post spawn, cant wait to take that new knowlage and apply it on my water
    City: Modesto

Tips: We fished 13 hours, this was money well spent, not because the amount of time we fished but the knowlage gained....priceless.

Report: Launched late high tide at New Hope; got even later start having to get oil from KOA/Tower Park Marina...thanx KOA camp store! Ok,ran up to our fav tule strips around the corner from B&W, thinking the lipless crankbait/speed trap bite would be on. NOT! Ran back to Sycamore Slough....got a line-screamer that lasted 3 secs and I choked! By this time, my big brudda had 3 hookups, not big, but keepers. Moved to Hog Slough and even bigger NOT!! Moved to Beaver Slough and big brudda insisted he wanted to catch on senkos. He knocks out 4 more on a junebug 5" senko in 2-5 ft. between the bank and top of the weedline. We didn't catch alot today....I say we but it was strictly my bro. I stink like the skunk that sat with me on the front of the boat.
    City: folsom

Tips: If you're initial attack doesn't pan out, start throwin' anything that makes sense to you at the time. I got the line screamer on a watermelon/red flake Yuki Bug but I was using a 3/16 flick-shake shakey head and didn't leave enough hook to set. My big bro just concentrated on the shallow strip between the rockwalls and weedline and he just popped the senko through the weedline and then let it settle on top....the fish would pick it off the top of the weedline....dang, didn't work for me but my big bro SLAMMED 'em. Report: Decent day, got out on the water about 8:00 a.m. launched from Buckley Cove & fished Turner Cut & 14 Mile slough, stuck a 5#er right off the bat on a Senko in 14 Mile in the tulies. then a couple in the 2-3# range along the same bank. Cut across to the other side & fished the isolated tulies along the rip rap & stuck a 4+ and another 3#er on a craw colored spinnerbait. Then stuck a PIG that went every bit of 8 lbs. got a good look at her right before she came unbuttoned at the boat(DOH !!). then cruised over to Turner Cut & caught a couple more in the tulies on the Senko. off the water by 1:00. as the "Tool Patrol" (all the "cool"kids in their Daddy's boats)were launching.
Pretty good day for a little over 4 hours fishing.
    City: Modesto

Tips: DEEP in the tulies. the farther back you can get, the better. Natural colors seem to work best. Spinnerbaits in craw colors on isolated tulie patches seemed to be the ticket also. Have fun & feel blessed to have such a great fishery in our back yard !!

Report: Last 4 days on the River has offered some incredible fishing! Spent all day Thursday & Friday with Steve Colley in the flooded lakes tossing 9X Senkos in 925 & 297 colors patterns to the shallow flats in the flooded lakes. We were targetting large bass that were moving in and out around the blue gill colonies. Patience was the key in that once ya found one of these colonies of gills, ya had ta back a little off and wait out 3-5 minutes ta see if there were any giant gill raiders present, eventually when they showed themselves, we watched their roaming routine and would cast that big slug of a Senko into their path and wait for em to make their rounds. We caught 20-25 fish doing this with the biggest going 7.5 pounds, also lost a double digit fish(one of many we saw, but the only one ta grab the Senko)as she was too far back in the tules ta git control of. Friday we experienced a great poppper/chugger bite early in the flats of Frank's Tract, then we mosied around the grass flats of Frank's, Lil Mandy & Mildred, tossing Yamamoto Kreatures in 330 on a texas rig, caught a lot of fish doing this to 3 pounds. Not a big fish bite yet but certainly good for numbers, had ta really hop that Kreature ta draw strikes. If ya slow fished it like the Senko, they wouldn't touch it!

Yesterday and this morning offered some great topwater fishing all day, the lowere tides were perfect in the middle Delta. Fishing by myself, I found popper & Spook fish in the deep grass flats off tule islands with deep drop offs near by. These were all post spawn fish that have backed off and are now moving into their summer patterns, great numbers the past two days in that 3-6 pound range on topwater.
    City: OAKLEY

Tips: Lots of bass fry starting to show in many areas from the past week, big bucks and hens guarding these fry balls are succeptable to Senkos & Topwater. There is still a good number of pre-spawners that you can target in the shallows, some moving in on gill colonies, others out cruising wating for a buck to drag em into the bed room. Topwater bite is coming on with the warming, it's been good for me and I know the top three teams in Saturdays FPT event here got em all on frogs. Don't overlook fish burried deep in the tules, sometimes in as little as 6" of water, if it's dark in there, they are liable ta be present. Keep an eye out for gills, both small and the big spawning red ears, you find the gills spawning, you'll find some of the biggest bass this River has to offer close by raiding them fer a change while the gills spawn! Typically here, these pre-spawn giants, don't see blue gills up bedding when they are on the prowl, easy meal for the bass, likely target for the saavy bass guys!

Report: Launched "BASSBUSTER1" at 8:00 a.m. shortly after getting off of work and was out of the water by 12 noon. Since it was incoming tide I decided to work the shallow flats in 14 mile slough. It's nice to finally see the warm weather again. Caught/release several bass pitching/fliping 5" Black/Blu Yum Dingers to the tules along the riprap bank. Big fish was 3 lb.s, small female not spawned yet. In the main channel around the mouth of the 14 Mile Slough there was a reaction bite using red/chartruse craw pattern Rat-L-Trap.

Tips: Looking forward to the frog bite as the area begins to heat up. :-)

Report: Launched out of Holland Tract at 7am. Went to the main channel and fished the first tules I came to.
Pitched brush hogs into the tules with no takers.
Fished outside of weedlines and picked up the first of 7. Nothing to write home about but had fun. Caught all my fish outside of weedlines and rip-rapfish using Brush Hogs, Senko Sytle Worms fished wacky, Berkley 7" Power worms. All fish caught on watermelon color. No other colors seemed to work. I called it a day about noon.

Report: plasticman1: only lakes i've caught crappie are clear lake, san pablo dam reservoir, and camanche. clear lake was the best but it was much warmer. when the crappie bite is on at these lakes, it's crazy but doesn't last long, maybe a few days...if you're on your boat, just gotta go find them. i've always found them at submerged structure and docks. i wish i could tell you more but this is my best shot. good deal takin' dad fishin'! i missed my opportunity for both my dad and my uncle who was the true fisherman of the family. my hat is off to you!
    City: sac

Tips: none...just givin' plasticman1 a lead on the crappie.

Report: Excellent day of fishing.Launched out of a little northern delta ramp.Caught 13 bass in 3 hours. I know there's some sceptics that will read this but most will believe.Pouring rain with 20mph winds. Best 5 went 17lbs with a six pounder.Everything was caught with red crankbaits, square and standard bill.Riprap with any wood in 4-10'was the key pattern.I had two other good days two weeks prior with a simular pattern. The best action was outgoing tides.I'm sharing my report because I have been able to figure out a pattern prior to fishing through all of the previously posted reports. Thanks

Report: Got to south end Mildred Is. by 6:30. Fished green tullies near clean water. Tried to stay away from moss. Pitched Watermelon w/red/green fleck worms and Brush Hogs. The further back into the tullies we pitched, the more hits we got. This worked last week for some 5+lb fish but only mustered 2.5 pounders today. Still some bigger cruisers around shallow water.

    Tips: Fish slow.

    Water Temp: 62-65

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Fished from 5:30 am - 1:00 pm in the east. Fished last 1/2 of incoming to last 1/2 of outgoing. I was in a jacket and beanie until 10 am! The incoming tide was slower and as it was cold, I was not surprised I got skunked incoming. Once things warmed up at 10:30 for outgoing and with a faster tide...the bite picked up. Got them crankin. Caught 10 bass and 4 stripers. For the most part the bass were all the males too small to be on beds (most were about 12"ers with a few 1 1/2 - 2 lbers). The stripers were 12"-14" also the fish too small to try to head up river to spawn.

Tried senko a bit with no bites. Tried topwater first hour with two nibbles and one good boil with no hook ups. Tried small swimbait late in the day with 3 nibbles and 2 strikes.

Wow, saw quite a few school of bait (too small for the bass to focus on), but it nice to see some of them back! I thought they might be baby bass, but they were not. Threadfin shad if I had to guess. They schooled under my boat while I was taking lunch at 10 am.

Report: Someone help me: try not to feel discouraged it happens to alot more anglers than you may think. This sat I went all day with only 2 bass and today I didn't catch one dang bass all day but I did come across the mother load of a striped school though. Like deep v said create a mental check list and just go down the list of what works and what doesn't. I like black and chartruse color jigs with a sweet beaver or a rage draw. Post spawn u want red cranks lipless or not it don't matter. Senkos always work but I don't have the patience for them; same for drop shotting. Spinner baits in a white and chartruse color parallel to grass lines on low tide and between the tules and grass on high tide. But im no pro so I have good and bad days also so try not to get discouraged and have fun while your out there.

Report: My sister-in-law's brother, Johnny, had not gotten to fish the Delta this year. I launched at Russo's and fished in Franks, catching a few, while I waited for him to arrive. He was at the dock at 6:00, as scheduled. We fished around Franks for a couple hours and caught about 15 fish in the .5# to 3+# range using Speed Traps, Senkos and Spinnerbaits. No action on topwater. We hit three more areas heading East in the main river with only a few more fish in the 1# to 3# range. The last are we fished was a marina that we got another 5 fish in 2# to 4.5# range. Johnny tossed a small orangeish spinnerbait and got the best fish of the day 4.81#, it was the same one that he was getting the 5" fish on in the early morning. Great day fishing, fair day catching and our best 5 would go about 14.5#. The Senko bite was very light most of the time.
    City: Antioch

Tips: Fish slow and pay attention to your line when throwing Senkos. The Speed Trap and Spinnerbait hits were solid.

Report: someone help me: you're not any different than a bunch of other bassers who employ techniques that you're aware of. keep logs or mental notes of what worked for you and be open to experiment with techniques you read or hear about. my brother and i have techniques that work when it's really on, and those techniques shut down at certain times. that's when we start going through the list of possibilities. don't give up! my brother caught plenty on dropshotting when i wouldn't give up my spinnerbait or crankbait. list of things that work on the delta...lipless crankbaits (my fav) in red crawdad/chartreuse belly or straight red crawdad. same colors in speed traps (dive 3-5-7ft)...work slow when over weedbeds, work hard and bump bottom in shallow clear areas (bro caught nice 3lb12oz fatbelly near a lone dock bumpin mud). spinnerbaits...outside weedline or right up against the tules...look out for grass/weed clumps. dropshot...up against the tules, in the pockets between the tules, and deeper dropoff outside the weedline (7-15 or deeper)...watermelon or oxblood works for us 4-6". Senkos in watermelon/red, junebug, pumpkinseed, or sweet tater pie also work (4-5"). Bro loves to throw jigs/beavers too; i like punchin' with sweet beavers or rage craws or creatures (anything similar works) in pumpkin, watermelon, blue/black, and whatever combination works for you. but my fav delta presentation is crankin', and it can happen any time. Look for transition points where moving water riffles and meets a different current like in points entering inlets or main channel current creating some eddies. also fish wind-blown tules or if it's a tule island, fish the inside lane and not the main channel. then go back up and fish the rockwall side of that same lane. all these are hit or miss but eventually you'll run into fish. really!!!
    City: sac

Tips: all of the above. that's the best i can offer you since no one else wants to lend you a hand. my brother and i are in a tracker 185 targa and you'll see my yellow lab, tofu with us. if bass fishing was the only fishing we do, we'd be in a glitter boat, but since we enjoy so much other fishing, we have the tracker. feel free to say hello if you see us. we're happy to share what little we know that has worked for us. some of the pro-am guys we've met have also shared their knowledge with us. some don't. oh well, we love to fish! best of luck!

Report: Fished out of Whiskey Slough starting at 8:00 am. We caught a couple keepers, couple dinks and one about 5 lb in Whiskey. The smaller fish came off the islands and the 5 came off a rocky point w/ tule. All the fish were caught after the water started to move out. Bite slowed down by 10:00 Ran up to White Slough didn't do any good. Fished Telephone Cut Caught one more keeper and a couple more dinks.

Tips: Get out earlier than we did. We used Senko's and Frogs.
