    Water Temp: 65

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

    Report: May with 90+ temps
WOW! The weather turned hot and the fish ran to the bank. Water temps were still in the low 60's but I would expect to see the temps in the high 60's if the weather will stay warm during the nights. The spawn is on, at least for the next few days anyway. I am starting to see fry and lots of bedding fish in the shallows. It won't be long before the bite really takes off. Currently, fishing slow and looking for bedding fish is your best chance at a delta giant. Drop shot a 4" Big Bite Bait finesse worm for bedding fish and for the big giants still cruising in the shallows I am throwing a Optimum Baits Titan Swimbait. Get out there and fish!
    City: tracy

    Tips: Fish are shallow!

    Water Temp: 63 degrees

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I got lucky again fishing waters off the Mokelumne
River. I broke my record from April 22,2011-9 lbs 11oz. I caught an 11 lbs 0 oz on a Lucky Craft BDS3 crawfish colored on the outgoing tide at 9AM.
That same day Allan Fong from Fisherman's Warehouse caught bass weighing 10 lbs and two 7 lbers. He caught those also in the Delta.

    Water Temp: 60 - 64 degrees

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: In at 8:30 a.m. and out by 12 noon at Ladd's, with less than 4 hours to fish today the game plan was to run the Custom Valco "BASSBUSTER1" to Paradise Point Marina bridge and back. Fished different spots starting with reaction baits( double willow spinnerbait chart/white with large gold blades and Smithwick Rattlin Rogue Jerk bait in sunfish color pattern). When hooked up switched to pitching a Zipper Worm. I was able to muster a 5 fish limit, biggest fish went 3 lbs on the spinnerbait.
    City: Stockton

Tips: With the high blue and sunny skies and also an out going tide the fish were holding in 10 feet of water along the outside deeper weed lines. Don't be fooled out there with all the carp spawning. they were ERKING me to throw my from LOL in the slop.

    Water Temp: 59 - 63 degrees

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Kept the custom Valco "BASSBUSTER1" in the garage today and hooked up with a co-worker in the afternoon who's not use to fishing the delta. So I showed him around a little bit today. With low tide and heavy weekend boat traffic the bite was tough until the tide changed in the evening. A reaction bite started up slamming our spinnerbaits back in 14 Mile Slough. I was throwing a 1/2 oz chart/white with large gold blades to get that extra thump in the murky water. Plastics were slow today.
    City: Stockton

Tips: I mentioned to my co-worker if you plan on throwing Senkos here in the delta that he should add some weight like a split shot to help give it a faster sink rate. The incoming tide was pretty strong today combined with the afternoon delta breeze.

    Water Temp: 60-64

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: The wind blew pretty good today. Fishing to bed fish became impossible for me. Reaction baits like the Rock N Vibe and 6" Basstrix swimbaits worked well. Dandy Baits spinnerbaits in SLK and Tennessee Twister produced well in the heavier winds. Water is 60-64 in the areas I am fishing. Cruising fish are visible but hard to catch. Stay off the shallows and throw multiple baits prior to leaving an area. They are shallow and they are big!

    Water Temp: 59 - 64 degrees

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: To get out of the wind I ran my Custom Valco "BASSBUSTER1" to LVW Marina in 14 Mile Sluogh. Once again it was a fenesse bite for me Mojo shotting Zoom Trick Worms Black/Red Flake until 11:00 a.m.

I then decided to check a couple of spots and try froggin. I normally don't do my froggin until some time in May, but I think I will start in April for now on. I wish I could have stayed on the water for a few more hours to verify a frog bite pattern.
    City: Stockton

Tips: The slop/junk/cheese what ever you like to call it was holding fish with the bright sunny skies today.

Report: Caught several 4 to 5 lbers. fishing large senkos and small swimbaits around typical spawning areas out of current. It's nice to see the Delta percentages coming back this year.
    City: Milpitas

Tips: Fish shallow on low tide. Fish shallow on high tide.

Report: An ok day, windy out today. Fished mostly rip raps with weeds. Mostly came off of senkos wacky rigged with a lil weight to sink a lil faster, then let it sink, work it back. Most fish caught already spawned seems like. A lot of dinks in the mix, biggest was a 6lber. All in all biggest 5 went 16-17 lbs. Not too bad for a rec angler like me.
    City: Stockton

Tips: Share some knowledge n some love people, dont hate. Have fun out there.

Report: started at beaver, hog, sycamore and picked up a couple 1-2 lbs on senkos and c-rig lizards. then moved to connection slough and st francis snot club and picked up a couple more on dropshot oxblood. a couple 1 lbers on speed traps too but doesn't seem to be a reaction bite yet.
hey nick, i think the reason these guys start off with their "custom" boat mention is because they know they love bass fishing, but they don't have the glitter boats like the guys that snob alot of people. yeah that's right, bass fisherman have an element of snobs in their circle too! just like salmon, fly, and whatever other arrogant fisherman who don't like anyone who don't walk their walk. yeah, i'm a bass fisherman and i don't have a glittery 250-300hp boat...but i've run into a mixed bag of bassers on the glitter boats who are either super nice and share their knowlege with you, or they're super snotty and look down on you because that's just the way they are, whether bass fishing or duck hunting, they're DH's (I'll give ya one guess what that stands for. Ok, I'll probably be banned here for awhile for writing this but I hope that answers your question....at least that's my take on it. I get a laugh and wanna see these "custom" boats.
    City: sac

Tips: share your knowledge, share the experience, and don't be so snotty...there's always someone else out there BETTER than you.

    Water Temp: 68-76

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I spent the day prefishing for an upcoming guide trip. The wind was blowing 20+ mph most of the day but the fishing remained quite good. The key was flipping tullie pockets near deep water. The fish were up shallow in the gaps between tullie clumps, most likely on beds but hidden by the murky water. I ended the day with 26 lbs for the best 5 fish. They were caught on senkos, creature baits, and one swimbait fish. Colors were green pumpkin and black/blue.
    City: Vacaville

Tips: Keep moving until you find clearer water. The fish are shallow and active. Don't give up until you find fish that are willing to feed. Also, don't be afraid to throw topwater. The wind held it back today but the bites are there.

    Water Temp: 59-62

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Launched out of big break at 9:00am started out throwing topwater to no takers till about 11:30am and bite turned on throwing horny toads watermelon red flake color 8-9 bites connected on four of them they dont seem to really be crushing it just yet but repeated casts to fish seem to aggravate them into biting we were throwing the frogs into the swiss cheese grass around the marinawhen bite slowed down we switched to flipping the new pit boss creature baits california color and picked off a couple of two pounders great day on the water never went farther than a two miles from the marina ended up with a 15lb limit no giants but loads of fun

Tips: if fish swirl on the frog stick with it fish is most likely catchable pitch creatures with light weight for slow fall i threw them on 1/8 oz. weights, dad pitched them weightless plenty of bed fish around fish slow and you will see them tightlines

    Water Temp: 63 - 67 degrees

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Today I decided to run my custom valco "BASSBUSTER1" south to Whiskey Slough, but ended up going just as far as Tiki Lagoon. The weekend boating traffic did not help the water conditions at all, but made it murkier to fish. No reaction bite, no jig bite, but did manage a few fish using a carolina rig with black red flake zoom trick worms.
    City: Stockton

Tips: Today I reinforced why I prefer to fish the week days only. It's nice to have a night job.

Report: My friend Dan Gee and I caught our limits of largemouths in waters off the Mokelumne River.
    Dan's biggest went 10 lbs 7oz and 6 lbs 13oz. My
biggest went 9 lbs 11oz. All fish were caught on 912 Senkos.
    City: Sacramento, CA

Tips: Fish slow near deep water.

    Water Temp: 61 - 64 degrees

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Ran up to the upper end of 14 Mile Sluogh today near the Paradise Point Bridge in my custom Valco "BASSBUSTER1". First started out with my usual checking to see if there was a reaction bite first. It ended up being a finesse bite for me Mojo Shotting a 7" Berkley hand poured worm straight tail Oxblood/Blu/red flake. Biggest bass today went 5 pounds. She felt real good on my medium action spinning rod with 8 lb. flouracarbon line.
    City: Stockton

Tips: Keep looking for the clearer water. With the higher than normal high tides the shallow weedy sides of banks were holding fish from 5 to 10 feet, just work your presentations slow.

  • By

    Water Temp: 58-60

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Fished Potato, Little Potato, White and Honker Cut, 8:00 am to 2:00 pm. Used Shad Speed Trap, Bl/B jig, Green Weenies and white Spinnerbait. No bites on anything but the green weenies (with red and green fleck). Caught 20 fish total for the day, all in shallow water near deeper water. All males up to 3#. Bite was soft and slow. Overcast all day with wind to 8 8MPH. Most fish were bloody. Caught a 1# with a fresh crawdad in it's mouth.

Tips: DON'T bother launching out of Terminous. Use BW or Ladds.

    Report: Delta/Stockton

    Bass**** Stripers** Sturgeon***

Sturgeon action remains hot in the deep water in the Carquinez Straits near the Green Buoy, Eckley Pier and Dillon Point. The high winds have limited boating activity in the main Sacramento River in the Pittsburg area with gusts to 30 mph over the weekend. James Nguyen of Dockside Bait in Pittsburg said the striper bite was on its way up before the winds started to howl. The waters of the San Joaquin River are still high but clearing rapidly. Scattered schools of stripers are moving quickly through the system. The best striper fishing is found either in the Pittsburg area or in the north Delta above Rio Vista. Alan Fong of the Fisherman's Warehouse in Sacramento reported outstanding largemouth bass fishing in the Delta with "perfect water conditions." Randy Pringle, the Fishing Instructor, has been using reaction baits such as the Pure Poison or Timber Tiger DC8 in black/orange, as the fish have moved off the banks with the cool morning temperatures. He expected the large females to move up on the coming full moon. The 10-inch Berkley Power Worm is effective on the outside edges with a slow presentation, and there is a top water bite starting in the back coves with the IMA Big Stik in the flats for the occasional largemouth in the 4- to 7-pound range. Fresh shad is still very limited for bait soakers.

Report: Launched out of Brannan Island SP and worked all the areas between that and Mokulemne by B&W; real spotty and hardly any action. Lipless and speed traps produced a few barely keepers to about 1.5lbs but nothing bigger. Senkos and jig/trailer combos picked up 3 more. Hard fishing all day and I don't know about the "perfect conditions" reported below.

Tips: Our report is nothing like the previous...not sure if it's a plug to get people's blood pumping but check out all the previous reports and the one before this seems like an ad for local stores and guides.
