Report: Started thurs evening w/a 3 lb rog ish just north o Konocti and my girlriend missed a nice one on a buzzbait. Then nothing till about 11pm. Finally, got a 5.5 on a power pulse worm and a 3 on a spinnerbait rom some rock and my girlriend got a 3 on a Rat-L-Trap. O the water by 1am with only 4 in the boat. Went out Fri w/ Larry Hemphill and ound out I should have ished another hour or so the night beore as they got some beauties ater 1. The bite was tough as we had a small cold ront move through. Again, my girlriend missed a nice buzzbait ish and had another quality ish on a 8" ring worm get away. She's new to the game but learning every trip out. We boated our ish that night (large plastics and jigs) to about 4 1/2 and missed a air number o short strikes. Even though the ishing was tough Larry still did an excellent job o showing me some new spots and teaching me more about the lake...thanx Larry. Sat was a little better weather. I got a 3 lb on a 10" power worm rom one o the new spots Larry showed me and then my girlriend broke o a nice buzzbait ish that hit right at the boat. She missed another buzzbait bite at the pipeline and I got our 3-4 pound spinnebait ish (plus a 4 lb catish)in about 15 minutes just as the sun went down. Ater a ew more stops I went back to Konocti and got what I came or, a beautiull 7.5 lbr on an 8" ringworm. Managed another 4 ish to about 3 pounds as we hit a ew stops on our way back. O the water by 10pm. Overall a good experience, not a lot o ish but some quality and a lot o knowlege.

Report: Fished the WON BASS northern tri-state this week. My partner and I located some 3-4lb rog ish during preish and knew some deep water jig ish that we let alone since we knew we would ish them during the tournament. First day we were 32nd boat out. We got to our irst couple spots and I cranked and he threw a jig. At 10am we had one 7+lber (cranking) and two 2lb jig ish. went to our rog water and caught two 3+lbers. Had about 18-19lbs at 11am so we went looking or some new water but ound the big zero. Went back to our deep water and in 10 minutes my partner caught a 8+ and a 3+. Bye bye 2lbers. Our ive ish went 26lbs. The next day we started doing the same thing but only got 1 2lb jig ish by 10am. Went to our rog water and both lose a 4+lb rog ish the irst hal hour. We keep at it and have two more rog bites and stick them both(3+lbers). Hit our deep water and it just doesn't happen. Get one bite and it's a 3+. Time to weigh in with only our ish or 15lbs. We ended up in 5th place. I we had caught one o the rog ish we lost we would have ended up in 2nd but that's roggin. Thanks to WON BASS or a great tournament.
    City: Petaluma

Tips: Things are really tough right now as less than 30 o the 106 teams weighed in limits the irst day. We only got 7-10 bites a day. As the weeds die the ish should move to the docks and rocks. Bring your senko's, blades, crankbaits, and jigs. Fall is almost here. See ya on the water.

Report: My partner and I went down to ish the American Bass tourney on the 13th.We got there on wensday night so we could preish thursday and riday. When we hit the lake thursday am it was windy and rough, and only got worse rom there.Three and our oot wakes going in every direction made navagation somewhat o a chalange. We still managed to pull a limit by 10:00 am that went a little better than 26 lbs.with a 7lb+ kicker.Friday was a lot easyer boating and we decided to go to rattlesanke and come up with a back up plan.We had a ive ish limit or around 24 pounds with a 6 pound kicker. We talked to a ew guys at the bbq sponsored by the Ford dealer (thanks John the ood was great)and every one was telling us that the ishing was hard,so we were eeling realy good going in to the tourny.Saterday was a beautiul morning.164 boats sitting in the water was sure a exciteing sight to see.Ater blast o we made a run down to Rattlesnake to ish a spot that had provided a big ish on day one.Ater a hal hour and one ish we decided to make a run and come back later. Fired up the boat and made it to the center o the lake and the motor let loose(again) To make a long story short we got towed in by two guys in a Ranger just in time to weigh our one ish.Except or the tourny we had a great time.Thank you people o clearlake and the two guys in the Ranger that towed us in even though they were also ishing the tourny.
    City: Springield,OR

Tips: Reaction baits in the morning ished airly slow .Frogs and Flukes over the mats when the sun started to come up.mid day the inside grass line next to reeds in deep water produced big or us.The secret was to let the bait sit or a long time beore twiching it an inch or two.The ish would jump all over it.

Report: Kris and I started in rattlesnake arm with a 1.5 on a DD22 and a 3.5 on a spinnerbait ished on a break out rom a seawall. Caught them back to back and I igure we drited past the biting ish as we caught no more arther down the bank. Several docks sucked w/senkos, 4" worms. Next ish, a 4.3 came on DD22 suspended o a piling by boatworks. Stuck a goodun on a jig here also, but the dam thing came o. Cache creek sucked and I hit rocks in the entrance. No more bites rom 6pm to almost dark. Hit razier at dark and banged 3, all about 3.5 lbs on brushog. Kris caught one on 10"worm about 2 lbs near konocti bar and another about 4 lbs o dollar island. Picked up another 3.5 o shag rock, but that was our only bite here. Fished around the Swedes rom 11:30 till 2 and must have caught close to 10 ish on brushogs and Jigs. Jigs got more bites ater midnight. We hooked no big ish, but landed 19. Figured best 5 at 20 lbs.

Report: There seems to be a tourn. every weekend, thereore like the ish one has to change according to the pressure. For me ishing on the weekend starts ater 5:00 pm and into the night. Saturday night was beautiul, ull moon, no wind and no other boats to cut you o. A limit o 5 ish weighing 21 lbs, the largest 6.2 all on crank baits on rocks. Again the worm bite was slow . Depth varied to less than 5 eet to 28 eet and all the ish were stued ull o small bait ish. The largest ish did spit up a partially processed senko. A lot o dinks in between the ive and a couple o 1 lbers. All in all a good night.
    City: Sacramento

Tips: Fish during the week or i on the weekend at night. The ish change according to pressure, so do likewise.

Report: Started o at Long Tule point about 2pm on ri (I heard that was the hot bite the weekend beore). Picked up a 3 on a small white buzzbait and my buddy got another 3 on a junbug worm. Headed south to Konocti, picked up a 2 and a 3 on live minnows, then to Jago bay or a 4 and a dink. Back to Konocti, got a 5 on the buzzbait and missed another about 3. Headed o the water about 7:30, we wanted to night ish but it was too windy. On the water early sat morning, there was a big tourney at the Skylark and a ew clubs tourneys down south so I new the pressure would be tough. Headed straight or long tule point, immediatley joined by 5 tourney boats trying to ish the same mats. Everbody threw rogs and buzzbaits and I only saw 1 ish boated (not by us). Gave up quickly and headed south. Every ishable spot had a boat or 2 on it, some had 4 or 5. Out o desparation we ished live minnows again (heck, we were ater the big ones anyhow)Got a 2 and a 3 o a rock point near Jago bay and a 5, a 2, and another dink o the pipeline. Well, actually my buddy and my girlriend caught all those, I just battled the trolling motor in the wind. I did manage a 6.10 catish on a minnow at the pipeline though. Ran to Rattlesnake and ripped about 5 dinks in minutes beore we headed o the water about noon.Went back out about 5pm or the night bite, winds calmed down and it looked promissing. Got a 2 on the buzzbait at Long Tule point then ran back to Rattlesnake. Fish busting bait everywhere but I couldn't get any action on top. Went to the big worms covered in smelly jelly. Managed a 2, a 4 and a 5 rom Rattlesnake. Picked up another 5 and a 3 on nearby rockpiles. Got a 2 at Konocti and missed at least ive other bites. I have a ealing they were small ish. Finished at shag rock, one bit but I missed em.Overall a air trip, considering the bite was really tough and there were several tournaments going on..

    Water Temp: 72.5

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Fished Saturday aternoon, ater the tourn. and into Sunday night, ( 2 am. ) . The largest ish was 5.6 with three in the 3.8 to 4.0 lb. range. While I like to worm ish my buddy in the back o the boat put a spanking on me with a spinnerbait in and around the weeds. My usual " larger " ish never came ater dark even though I persently stayed with the worm. Ater 4 hours sleep we were at it again at 6 am. Again the spinnerbait illed the live well. There seems to be a change rom two weeks ago when the night bite was good and they were destroying large plastics to more o a reaction type bite. Picked some nice ish up cranking island tops and submerged rocks, although someone keeps taking my marker bouy which makes inding the darn things hard at night, oh well. It also seems that the jig is slowly picking up with my largest ish on a brown weapon jig and a 4 inch yammatto craw - no pressure bite on that one. All in all, the weather was great, all is here and the ish, at least a ew had a great aerobic workout. See ya on the water.

Report: Wow is right Larry. Stayed at the Sea Breeze and ished Saturday morning with the whole am damily. Started at 6:15.2 ish on buzz baits south o Konocti, one o em went close to 4 lbs. Had a lot o swirls but ish did not seem to want to commit. Switched to senko's and dead ringers. Picked up a number o short ish with a couple in the 2 lbs range. Went to breakast. Returned to witness are boats being pounded by a south wind, and I do mean pounded. Waves were breaking over the top o the dock at the Sea Breeze. Pulled out and did'nt ish again until Sunday morning. Ran to Rattle Snake and picked up 3-2lb ish on Senko,s. Ran north and startes throwing rogs. Only had two ish on, never got em to the boat, but they were much better ish.I thought the bite was o.k. concidering we only ished a total o about 6 hours. I wonder how much that south wind eects the bite?
    City: El Dorado Hills

Tips: Found all o our ish 1 to 5 eet o water, primarily on weeds.

Report: Fished with a guide Friday and saturday. Caught a total o 0, nada, goose egg!!! Talked with a dozen other guides and locals on the water and they had caught the same. We tried every bait in the tackle box including minnows and got maybe a hal a dozen light taps. I have been here beore with the same guide and kicked butt so I don't know what the heck is going on. Maybe it is all the spraying and other crap in the water. Overall, the lake seemed very unhealthy and had an eery undertone to it. Maybe I will try again in the Fall.
    City: san jose

Tips: Wait till Fall to go, nothing is biting. That is the truth not like some o the other posts I have read in the past.

Report: Windy aternoon starting around 5pm. rattlesnake arm too diicult to hold boat to crank rockpiles. Tried anyway to no avail. North o anderson Island gave me a 2 lb ish on a rog right away then no other bites there. Caught a 3.5 and a 4.6 on rogs beore 8 pm. Interestingly, no ish on deep rocks at dark or a little ater. Caught my irst ish on a 7"senko about 9:30 about 3.5 lbs. 10pm to 1am was best bite or us w/ 7 more, 5 on 10" pwr worm and 2 on brushogs. Biggest was 5.7 o deep rocks in south end. Shag rock was dead and no bites rom 1-2 am.......
    City: Yuba city

Tips: brown rog---arthest weeds rom shore had active ish, no takers in big dense mats closer to bank.

    Water Temp: 75

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Decided to head out around 5pm on Friday, Amador has been bad to me lately so I igured I would let Clear Lake have a go. Hit the water at 10:30pm and started at Shag Rock, right around the corner where the houses start. Hit a 3lb'er right o the bat on a 11" black power worm. Went into that shallow marina and hit one about 3lbs. Worked my way back and on the way out and hit a solid ish in the same spot the 3 came rom. This ish broke o at the boat, sure hate it when you muscle a ish and that happens. Estimate that ish would have been in the 7-8 lb range. Buddy was jazzed about the catish action so we tied to a bouy and caught 7 cats, 3 were in the 4lb range. Around 5:30 we head over to Rattlesnake and begin throwing buzzbaits. First ish was a solid 6lbs, right on a little tule point this ish just hammered it. 30 yards later I stick a 4lb ish and then ollow it up with a dink. Had one other blow up rom a solid 7+ ish but missed it. All o the ish were located in the 1-5' range. To bad I have plans the next ew weekends or I would be right out here giving it another go.
    City: San Jose

Tips: Buzzbait action only lasted about 45 minutes o irst light. 2 Fish on 11" black power worms, missed big ish on a black/blue senko, 3 on a white buzz. Not quantity but quality. Good luck out there!

Report: Hey Larry I'm no expert by any means but I believe the ticket to the big ish was junebug brushogs. My riend Steve and my son Shane went out three dierent nights and did really well. My son got most o the ish dragging the brushhog behind the boat. I got the biggest ish pitching to the bank along with Steve. Tried jigs and 10inch power worms and could not get anything going with them. Junebug senko also got us some ish. We ished Buckingham area or a little while pitching between docks with grass. I got most o these ish with senkos. Then when it got too dark we would make the move to Konocti because the grass was to hard to see I was becoming known as the trolling motor cleaner instead o the isherman. I've watched you ish with your clients at night time rom above at the bar. Constantly hooking up in that area. So in we went with brushhogs and senkos. The people above were applauding everytime we hooked up especially or my son. He took the money every night. Then made the move to Fraiser Point the only one that hooked up was my son ishing deeper with brushhogs. As we went down around the corner mysel and Steve started to connect on some nice ish shallow with brushhogs. Every ish came right towards us. Lots o pressure bites. Its amazing how these big ish are so graceul in picking up a brushhog without you knowing it. Every thing in this area was between docks with a combination o rock, walls and a little bit o grass. Tried the Buckingham marina with no luck. Then make the inal move towards Henderson. Not a lot o action here but the ones we did get were good ish including my 8lb one night. Stuck an 8 at Konocti one night and stuck another 8 around the corner rom Frasier Point on my last night. All ish were between 3-8lbs. I used the Power Pro line in the yellow color(50lbtest) and I'm telling ya this is the way to go or me. I don't care how many times I have to check or raying. Its a huge advantage against the ish. Its adios or P-line and hello Power Pro. I'll only use P-line on my cranking stick. I believe in making longer casts so you don't spook them. You don't have a hooksetting problem with this Power Pro stu. Like I said at the beginning o this marathon report I'm no expert, but I do know some things. Had no trouble seeing the line with the black light. I could go on and on but everybody is probably wondering when is this guy gonna shut up and end this thing. I think now would be a good time. Good ishing.
    City: Petaluma

Tips: Junebug brushhogs(big) and 5" senkos in junebug also. You guys have to start trying this Power Pro stu with brushhogs, senkos and jigs. Everything came between docks and rockpiles. Topwater might work, but never got around to it since we had something going and didn't want to jinx our luck. Also lots o smelly jelly.

Report: I have been down to Clear lake the last our o my weekends (mon-tues) mostly concentrating on the night bite. The ishing has been consistent and slowly improving. We have been averaging 6-9 ish in the boat every dusk 'till dawn trip with quite a ew lost ish and missed bites unortunately. Lots o solid 4lbers and a ew 5-6.5's as well. I did manage to land a skinny 9lb 2oz bass while ishing one night with a local o his namesake rock. A couple o big catish have kept us on our toes as well. The crack o dawn bite has been the most consistent or less than hal an hour, had one big ish jump o a crankbait on tues morning. The worm and jig bite has been best or us with a ew on spinnerbaits and crankbaits. Rockpiles and steep rocky banks have been the best bet. We had a ew rog and topwater ish in the evening and late morning but not much. The south end around Rattlesnake is getting really nasty already this year. Many locals attribute it to the weed spraying that is going. The weed beds are stringy and the algae has all turned into brown and white mess. That end will be disgusting by late August i this keeps up.
    City: Arcata

Tips: The state agency responsible seems to be spraying wherever they ind weeds not just hydrilla areas or around residential zones. A lot o the good shallow habitat is being destroyed. I hope all the dying weeds doesn't case a ish kill.

Report: Went to Clear Lake on a "amily" vacation. It was my irst time to Clear Lake, towed the boat rom San Diego or some excellent ishing.6/26 (cloudy, some light rain)Launched rom Konocti Bay at dawn. Since I had never been on the Lake beore, I decided not to go ar, went and checked Konocti bay. Started with a buzz bait, and got bit immediately, 3 lbs, switched to a pop R and got another ish, 2.5 lb. Started throwing a spook, got a 7 pounder. Continued to throw the spook, had a ish blow up and miss it, ollowed up with a Senko. 5 pounder came out and enhaled it. Picked up a couple other ish on the spook, not o any size. O the lake by 9 am6/27 (Rain, miserable)Launched rom Konocti, ran over to Rattle Snake Island. Started throwing the spook since I did so well the day beore. Had a ish blow up on it and miss it, ollowed up with a Senko, 5 pounder enhaled it. Contined to throw the spook with no luck. O the lake by 7 am because o the weather.6/28 (Cloudy)Took my nephew how had never caught a bass, so I went back to Konocti Bay. I was throwing the spook, he was throwing a Senko. Farmed about 4 or 5 ish on the spook, one was a 5 pounder, took me into the weeds. Did catch a 4 pounder and another 3 pounder. I switched my nephew to a skitter pop, he caught a 3.5 pounder on light gear, very exciting. Checked some o the south end, picked up a 2 pounder outside the tules on a spook. O the lake by 9 am.6/29 (Sunny)Started in Konocti, it was slow compared to the previous days, did get a 4 pounder to eat the spook. Ran towards the north end past Anderson Island, ound some tules next to deeper water. Picked up 2 ish, 3 pounders. Ran urther down the north end, making 2 more stops. One by the state park and another urther down the lake, nothing. Did have a ew ollowers, no takers. O the Lake by 9 am.
    City: San Diego

Tips: I mainly threw a spook outside the tules and over the grass beds early in the morning. Caught quite a ew quality ish, but not a huge number o ish. The ish are all spawned out, the larger ish were quite skinny.

Report: I took two riends or a trip to Clear Lake over this past Thursday through Sunday. Had only been to CL once in the past and spent three days careully avoiding all bass in the lake. Hadn't planned on going back, but the lore o the big ish and classic terrain was just too much to resist. One guy actually lew out rom Maine just or this trip. We had the time o our lives. On the irst day, I landed a 4, a 5 and a 7. All on Senkos (208). The 4 irst thing in the a.m. and the biggest two in Soda Bay at dusk. My partners didn't do too well the irst day, but the next day we went out with a guide, Dave Majestic. Can't say enough about Dave. Great guy, great guide. Turned my buddy onto pitching the senkos into the tule pockets. He pulled ive, biggest going to 4 lbs. He took a lot o time with us, over what he was paid or. Gave us advice over the phone beore we ever came up and we hadn't even given him a deposit. That advice is what helped to land the big ish beore we ever met up with him.Special thanks to Dave and also to Larry Hemphill. I've been reading his reports on this site or months anticipating this trip. Everything we read here really helped turn this trip into a great experience or all and both partners want to make it an annual event. Given the nine hour drive or two o us and the light rom Maine or the third, that says a lot.
    City: Stevenson Ranch

Tips: The wind really died o completely ater the irst day and the hot calm conditions cleared the water up and seemed to push the ish out o the tules and into deeper water. I decided to ish the edges o the shoals coming out o long tule stretches and picked up several nice ish the last morning. 90% o the people we saw ishing were still pounding the banks - don't be araid to get out in the deeper water though. I was watching dozens o cruisers at 7-9 eet. Senko 208's were THE ticket all throughout the trip. Even ished deep over the drop os, they worked great.
