Report: Started ishing the morning o Thanksgiving with little action until around 9 a.m. Found most o my ish in 13 to 15 eet o water on cranks. Ater the sun had broke and the water got a little warmer the bite got good. On a home made trout bait I was able to put 25.2 pounds in the boat. The ollowing day went to same 100 yrd stretch and couldn't get a bite on the home made bait, switched to crank and put together a 21.4 pound limit. Some o the best ishing I have seen or quality ish. I pulled both limits o ish in a 100 yard stretch. No really big ish, biggest 7.2 but all very healthy. Great lake, need to be going back soon.. When does the bite slow down or the winter?

Report: Went down with my older brother Chris on monday, went ishing monday night on the rock piles behind Rattlesnake, only bites were 9.0 and a 7 that chris caught on plastic worms. I lost a 5 or 6 , and we each caught a dinker. Tuesday ishing was slow I caught a 5 on Fraiser, we didnt get anyother ish until we went to shag then chris caught a 6.2, and I got 9.0 , I also got another 5 and some smaller ones. All the ish that we caught on tues. were caught on live jumbo minnows, with a drop shot rig. Sure was an exciting trip and well worth it or me.

Tips: I would recommend using minnows in deeper water.

Report: Windy conditions made ishing tough on Sunday at New-Bass Grand Fish O. High winds are tough on ishermen, but not impossible to overcome i you are prepared.Sunday morning we ound ourselves down in the pack ater a 13.8 lb ive ish limit on Saturday. Day 1 limit came rom ishing weeds in State park area. Decided to stay down at the south end on Sunday iguring we neded a limit to get a check. Began ishing winded banks behind Rattlesnake with white blades. Ater 40 minutes we moved out ront and started crankin' 10 to 20 t. My gracious partner the Yee-meister had a nice ish hook up on a at ree shad but unortunately came o ater a ew cranks. Within minutes I hooked up and landed a 5 1/2lber! I had barely caught my breath when the Yee-meister whipped a 6+lber into the boat.We knew we were on some good ish. Decided to spend about 10 minutes graphing this rocky ridge. Ater marking the end o the drop o we dropped anchor and continued crankin med. size at ree shads on 30lb power pro line 10-18 t.Biggins' continued to run the ridge and every 45 minutes or so we hook up. Most o the day was spent with both anglers standing on the back end o my 19'Viper casting to the same spots repetively. By standing on the back we were able to keep the weight o the bow and reduce the waves crashing over the top. About 3:15 decided to head in or a last light weigh-in. Made good time in rough water heading back so we pulled over on some rip-rap below Konocti or a ew more casts. About 10 minutes beore weigh in the Yee-mister did it again and hooked up a 4 1/2lber!! This culled a 2+lb and secured a ive ish 23 1/2lb limit. This was our best ever tournament eort on Clear lake under extremely windy conditions. Thanks to some good rain gear and an adequate anchor we were able to manage the day.Special thanks to New-Bass and Konocti or a well run event. Thanks to my wie and amily or allowing me my time on the water. Thanks to my partner the Yee-meister who has an uncanny ish instinct and proessinal ishing abilities.I guess my 97 Viper will be spending next season in the garage as we will be enjoying a 462 VS Ranger!!Walker
    City: Elk Grove

Tips: Be prepared or tough conditions with warm clothes, good rain suits and an adequate anchor to sustain high wind conditions. Pattern was typical all crank bait.

Report: A little late posting but i had hoped to get down there again. I ished Fri evening around Rattlesnake or one solid crank ish and a couple slow rolls on buzzbaits. Went back out out night and the bite was slow. One other boat out there and we always seemed to be ishing behind them, they had a tough night as well. Had 6 good bites, only our in the boat. Best ish in the 5lb range and it was hooked in the belly on a jig, man I thought that was a big ish. Only ished until midnight so i was able to get up at the crack o down. I was suprised to be the irst one out on some o the major rockpiles. Lost two ish on cranks then went to a jig and set up on beautiul 8.1. Wind got to bad or more little boat so I went in behind the island. had to sit on the some spot or an hour because o all the boats back there but I landed 3 more quality ish one on crank and two on jigs.
    City: Arcata

Tips: Crankbait bites were really subtle and the ish were not getting hooked to well. Use a deep diver and grind it back to the boat with a lot o pauses. Follow up with a jig.

Report: Whew! The best ishing I've had in my lie! Drove up Friday night ater work, got on the water at 10:30. First ish @ about 11:00, 5 lb. 4oz.. Lost one about eight right at the boat at 12:00, got a very clear shot o her, beautiul ish! We continued catching one every ew minutes until about 2:00 when the moon came up. most in the 4~5lb. range, only two less than 3lb.! Ater dawn went over to shag and Teduardo stuck an 8 pounder on a jig. that was an awesome ending to night one. Saturday night was the night I'll never orget! On the water at about 6:30 p.m., went over to konocti to try the rog bite. Walker, Texas Ranger stuck a 3 pounder on the roggy in open water near the mouth o a bay, and the Yeemeister got one almost 4lb. on the Senko. Headed rom there back to the main body and I got a nice 5 lb. 8 oz. on the brush hog. Continued to ish with limited luckor the next ew hours. Stuck one 4 lb. 9 oz. at about 11:00. Next headed to shag at about 12:30. From the report I just read, we were just a ew minutes late! Someone had already snaked Mr. Walker's 10 pounder. Stayed there or 45 min. with no bites, so went back to our irst spot. Missed a ew bites here and there, slow ishing. Stuck one about 2.5 lb. on a giant zipper worm that a local bait shop had sold us on that morning, dang worm weighs about a pound!!! At 4:15, I caught my largest ish to date, an 8 lb. 2 oz. hawg! I hadn't even caught my breath when I stuck a 6 lb. 12 oz. ish at 4:25. All in all, it was the trip o a lietime or me, I had a ive ish bag well ove 28 lb on Sat. night!!! All my expectations were met and exceeded, I only the Texas Ranger's 10 pounder had come out to play it would have been a perect trip. Perect weather both nights, shorts and t-shirts, water like glass or most o the time. Must have seen 200 shooting stars, too! First time night ishing or me, deinitely won't be the last. Thanks to Craig, Steve, and Ted or an awesome weekend! OUT!!!!
    City: sacramento

Tips: The big ishies came on slowwww, big plastics or jigs. The Brush Hog seemed to be the ticket or me, lots o Smelly Jelly didn't hurt. It seemed the bigger the ish, the lighter the bite was, be ready or the pressure bite.

Report: Just a quick ollow up to my previous report. Fished two guys Saturday - started at 7:30 AM, showing them the lake. The jig bite held up well, as we had an 18 1/2 lb limit by 10 AM. - 5-3 was the biggest. No big ish. We missed several because o the wind. Bite really shut down or us ater 10. Tried some weed beds north o Konocti Resort and I got a 3 lb rog ish. Too many weekenders having un to ish seriously. Went to some weed in Konocti Bay and client got his irst Senko bass (#194). I had a 8 to 10 lb bass ollow my rog TO THE BOAT! She looked at the rog, looked at me, and decided "not today". That is something you don't see everyday! What a sight!!
    City: Yuba City

Tips: I have caught several rog ish lately - but it still is very slow. I am using the green Snagproo rog i anyone wants to know. We have tried other colors but green seems to be the ticket. All three o my rog ish at the rally were on green.

Report: The wie and I camped at the State park or our days. Tough ishing, ROUGH WATER!!!! Made or some exciting boat rides. Was hoping the rog bite would be on...NOT. Tried to piece together something, just a ew small ish here and there, mostly docks with Senkos. Finally, on the last day o our trip and the last 1/2 hour o ishing, rog bite. Put two our pounders in the boat (each with 20 pnds. o weeds) on back to back casts. Each made a big hole blowing up on the rog, then a quick cast back to the hole and KABOOSH!!!! Two minutes, 8 pounds. I am totally impressed with the 50 lb. Power Pro braid. Even though the ishing was tough, still enjoyed it... hey it's Clear Lake. Good luck........Jig-N-Pig
    City: Hanord

Tips: Stick with the rog now, it is starting to come on. Docks are good, shady side with a.... Senko, dang those things.

Report: Spent the weekend at Clearlake, looking or a toad. Fished with a super guide, Keith Clow,(thanks Keith),who taught my partner and I alot. Unable to establish anything but a crank pattern as the winds were terrible. My partner rolled a 6-7 lb. on a spinnerbait early in the south end near a dock. I caught a three on a crank and another came undone. Keith caught two three's on cranks also. Mostly points and rocks. Had a pretty good breakast at Konocti around 10am. Keith did alot o talking, adn I was all ears. Yesterday, my partner and I went out in my boat. We hunted and pecked till 1:30, and scratched out seven bites or our ish. Three came undone. Fished the north end, lipping senkos and jigs. Later lost a our plus that got tied up in the weeds. It appears that the weather at night is cooling down, so the ish will be moving up in mass soon. They say the bite is best in October.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Just returned rom 2 night and 1 day trips at Clear Lake. I ound the daylight hours to be better than the night hours. This past week the night bite went slightly south - not anything (or me) like it was last week. Yesterday I took a ather-son team out at 12:30 PM and we rogged or about an hour - no luck. I had landed a 4 1/4 on a rog the previous day. The wind was really getting bad, so I thought it was time to try my brown/orange Rodstrainer jig with #180 Yamamoto grub. While my clients worked a brush hog and a Magic Worm, I tried the jig around Rattlesnake Island and had 2 bass or over 7 lbs in 5 min! "Dad - do you want to try a jig?" "Sure", he says! So, ater some instruction (how to ish them in heavy rock) he proceeds to miss two, and then at 3 PM, he sets the hook on a bass that I soon realize is not the size I was catching. Ater a terriic ight, I net an 8 lb 2oz beauty or the newest "convert"!! He announces "I really like jig ishing"!! First bass on a jig, ater maybe 20 casts - I guess!!! I mentioned 3 PM because how many 8 pounders are caught during the middle o a hot August aternoon? We landed two more or a tad over 21 lbs or the ive best, had one small one and missed several because, by this time (5 PM) the wind was unmanageable. I wisely had decided not to go up the lake - by 6PM the lake was the roughest I have seen this summer. The previous night, another client and I started in the south end with rogs - I had a big blowup, but missed it. Client started using a Senko in weed patches and soon hooks a 5 lb 3 oz bass - good start. As it got dark, I started throwing a white Terminator spinnerbait and catching some nice bass very shallow - he put one on and got one too. They ranged rom 3 1/4 to 4 lbs. We got a 2 1/2 lb jig ish right ater dark. The wind came up ater dark and hampered our ishing the rest o the trip. I was amazed - we only got two bites ater 10PM. But in a two hour period we had 6 bass or 20 lbs. The night beore, great clients but slow ishing. we got 6 or 7, mostly worming on rockpiles. The biggest was nearly 4 lbs on a buzzbait near Buckingham. Many have complained about the ishing at Clear Lake this past month, and rightully so. It seems to be very hot or cold - moreso than in years past. I think the Jitterbug lures that were used in last Saturday night's tournament win say it all - don't be araid to try something new and dierent, or old and dierent!!
    City: Yuba City

Tips: I you hear the delta breezes (in Clear Lake dictionary, HURRICANE) are kicking in, go there prepared or the worst. Remember, the winds hit Clear Lake a day earlier than they hit the central valley. The jig bite will get better as all approaches. Client caught a crawdad on a plastic work the other night! The crawdad population has really increased this year.

Report: Fished WCB Hot August Night tournament with Wayne Howenstine. We really had one o those dream nights. And most o the credit goes to my partner Wayne. He located those ishand I was ortunate enough to be able to come along and help catch 'em. We had a very good night, we executed well and did notmake any mistakes, not did we lose or miss any ish, other than a couple o missed worm bites. Many o our ish came right a dusk andat irst light in the morning and indeed they really did come on jitterbugs, black and red & black. Wayne caught our big ish, a 9.12 on ared and black zipper type hand pour and we also caught quite a ew ish on a red shad 7" Toledo Tickler worm rom ReAction Lures. We started out the evening with a couple ish on Senkos and then the topwater kicked in and we had a limit and culled one by about9:30. We then moved around some and caught another keeper that didn't help. We ished a couple areas where the wind was reallykicking and that deinitely made things tough. Fortunately or us our prime area was somewhat sheltered. We weighed in 19.21 at theirst weigh-in and I think we were in 2nd place ater that. Started out the 2nd hal with a 5.5 on the Tickler and then had a long dry spelland battled the wind some more, then moved into a more sheltered area where we quickly inished out a limit on worms, but 3 wereairly small. The Limit ish was completely blind and probably weighed 7+ in it's hay day, but was only just under 5 now. Then Waynestuck the big ish. Then about 5:30, just as the sky started to show signs o daylight the topwater bite kicked in again and we were ableto cull out all o our small ish. We actually culled a couple 4+ ish and and the last ish we caught which I would estimate to be close to4.5 we realized would not help us! We very nearly had that dream goal o 5 bags at the weigh-in, but settled or 4. Our morning weightwas 29.77 and we just edged out Jim and John by .25 All in all it was a night I will remember or a long time. I really want to thank Wayne or inviting me to join him, we worked very welltogether as a team and each had the other running or the net. I also want to thank West Coast Bass or putting on the tournament. There are not many sanctioned night tournaments and I sure do lenjoy ishing them even i these all night deals are a bit o an Iron Man! Maybe we can get Red Bull to sponsor a night circuit! Also wantto thank the Clear Lake volunteer patrol or looking ater our stu while we were ishing.
    City: Marysville

Tips: Topwater, jitterbugs and buzzbaits at last and irst light. Ribbed type worms such as ReAction Lures Toledo Tickler in blacks with red or junebug. Fish near deepwater, but try shallow.

Report: Well, I was worried the cooler weather would slow down the bite. We tried topwater a lot Tues and Wed evening - not even a roll. But everything else was ine!! We caught 11 on Tues and 15 on Wed - 21 1/4 and 25 1/2 lb. ive ish limits. I don't know what is happening to me, but the jigman is turning into a spinnerbaitman!! I had more un with spinnerbaits the last two nights than ever beore. However, the ish were averaging only 3 to 3 1/2 lbs. I inally got a 6-7 on one at 4 am last night. I am using the night 1/2 black Terminator with a 5" #136 Yamamoto grub trailer. I don't know i they have always worked that well, or i I am just getting with the program! As I have mentioned previously, I am doing very well or large ish on white Terminators during the day - over rockpiles. The bigger ish are still coming on Weapon jigs/Yamamoto grubs (a 7-3) last night, and 10" Power Worms and Big Dipper Magic worms (6"). Spinnerbait ish are running smaller at night - at least during the cooler nights. Maybe because o the cool o, there has been no night "bite", just "pressure". That may change by this weekend as it warms back up. I have been ishing all over the lake rom the narrows south, and have ound the ish near rock and tule edges, especially i they are next to rock. We did get some deep (25 t) ish to bite Tues night - client got a 6-3 and I got a 5-3 back to back. South end (Jensen) was a disappointment - didn't do well in that area. Good luck to all who are ishing the tournament! Out o respect to all my riends ishing the event, I won't be speciic about certain areas in this report.
    City: Yuba City

Tips: I still say to ish slow or the bigger ish. Look or shadows. Do try crankbaits and spinnerbaits or numbers.

Report: Never really got a pattern going and had to work hard to get some ish. Got one spook ish each morning in Nice, but they were small (about 2#s). They came o brush in about 3-5 eet o water. Caught 2 ish out o Horseshoe bend one lipping a jig to tules and the other was a 5# that hit a blade I was working through a weed bed (Should have been using a rog). I had another ish about 3.5# hit a jig I was working slowly on Shag Rock in about 15 eet o water. I never did get a bite on a buzz bait. Did have 1 or 2 cranking tules with a craw colored crank bait.
    City: Brentwood

Tips: Frog bite seemed to be picking up as the weekend progressed. Fish seemed to be well ed and only having to become active or brie periods to get their share o ood. I would agree with Cooch that you may need to trigger a response rom the ish.

Caught one more o o deep rocks and 2 o docks but lost 2 or 3 more. Let or YC or sleep and recharging. 7/20 Arrived @ 3pm.
