Water Temp: 79-81
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Mike Sperbeck and I gave the lake another chance to prove itself - and it was hot and cold! Mike got another good one before dark at 6 lbs 6 oz! It was pretty slow after dark as the moon came up. I finally caught a monster 1 1/2 pounder after maybe my all time smallest bass on a hook - around 3 inches. Wow - didn't think that was possible. But how about that hook setting ability!!!! Around midnight we found the sweet spots and landed 7 in about an hour - from 2 1/2 lbs to my biggest at 5 lbs 7 oz. We found bass on broken rock fields in 10 to 20 feet of water. The were more shallow than I expected. Bites were from no bite to the 5-7 nearly jerking the rod out of my hand! I'm not sure about our best 5, but they were well over 20 lbs. Drop-dead gorgeous night - no wind and perfect air temperature.
City: Yuba CityTips: Plastics of all sizes worked with the big Berkley Power worm finally working best. After my success at Berryessa with the Piranha swim jig, I threw it a lot this trip without a hit. As we drove home, I felt the fish have moved a lot in the last few weeks. That's not a good or bad thing - just makes one work harded to find them. Lake is looking a lot cleaner now.

Report: started the day from shore at 5:50 a.m in nice. first cast first fish a 5 pounder on a lunker punker blue gill color. moved down highway 20 hit a few spots with nothing. came across a rocky point that led to a shallow sandy flat where my brother caught a 3 pounder on a black buzzbait on the edge of the rocks and i had a blow up on the punker. moved further down 20 to find a wall with no fishing posted. lots of over hanging trees to provide shade and my brother pulled a 10+ out on a black buzzbait in the shade. fish hit in 1-2 feet of water and was released after a quick video was taken. moved to the state park area where i got slammed with my alabama rig by a fish that was coralling bait into the tullies. got in my float tube and saw a few giants feeding at the surface in about 8 feet of water. got one to blow up on my rapala x walk but he never came back. it was a great day to be out and although we only had 3 fish between 2 of us those 3 were good sized
City: pacificaTips: if the water smells dont fish it. find more clear water and keep and eye out for bait being flushed to the surface. no luck on frogs so buzzbaits, and walk the dog style top water will entice these fish into striking. also minnow immitations and a-rigs will get action as long as you work water with little weed growth

Water Temp: 80
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fished Clear lake Thursday the 23rd and Friday the 24th. Fishing was good in the evening on Thursday but a lot tougher during the day on both days. with the arrival of the millions of silversides all over the lake it has made it tough at times but also good if you find yourself in the middle of the feeding frenzy. My friend and i were all over the mid lake and south end of the lake and we caught fish everywhere. buzzbaits, crankbaits, jigs, and frogs all got us fish from a variety of areas. As many of the recent posts for clear lake have stated it is important that you move around till you catch one and then camp till you clean that spot out, every place we caught a fish yielded at least several more. it is hard to decide where to fish right now since the fish are doing everything you could think of right so fishing deep and shallow are good options just fish whatever you like.the fish being caught right now are meant to spoil us as most of our fish were 4 or bigger with a 7 and 8 caught by me Thursday night for a 27lb limit. the slime is everywhere on the lake but it has not slowed the fishing, but be prepared to have about 7 dollars for pressure washing the boat afterwards. i want to thank Jimmy from Clear lake bait and tackle for all of the tips that led to our excellent trip. Also if you have never stayed at Indian Beach off highway 20 you are missing out. Not only are they reasonable, have good dock access, and fishing off of the docks you are pretty much centrally located on the lake making it easy to run where you want quickly. water temps are in the 80 degree range and the weeds are clearing out a bit already.
City: San LorenzoTips: if you fish an area that you feel should produce with no luck try other baits till you find what they want. sometimes it took us a couple passes to get them to react and also make several casts to the same spot to get a reaction bite as they are heavily feeding on the silversides and are by no means starving. i caught an 8 after casting 6 times to a clump of tullies with a buzz bait.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Night fished for 3 days. The quality was good but the bites were fewer than normal. Averaged 8-10 fish per day. Largest went 9.75. Was fishing south, only a few reaction fish (blades) that went 5 lbs. each. Limits were 21 - 28 lbs. The last night was the lightest in bites but yielded the largest fish. Texas rigs & a few senko fish (big fish was on senko) Weeds are starting to breakup. I think the bite will pick up in the next month. Congrats to Manny Frias who got the 9.75 his largest to date!
City: KelseyvilleTips: Look for clean water with structure. If we caught one, we could usually get another @ same spot so if you run into one stay for a while. If you don't get bit, move!

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Spent the late morning fishing the Weekend Island area before the wind kicked up. The bites were few, but managed to catch three bass: 4 lbs, 2 lbs 8 ounces, and one more fish around 1.5 lbs. Could only get the fish to hit drop shot roboworms outside the weed mats. Saw another angler pull up a 11 lbs bass from the Narrows near the rocky point.

Water Temp: 85-86
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: This is the tale of two "Clear Lake's," - one good and one not so good! Mike Sperbeck and I fished the past 2 Friday evenings and found feast and famine! A week ago the fishing was great for us with about 25 in the boat. The best 5 were almost 26 lbs during a 6 1/2 hr trip. Last Fri the heat spell was in full force and the bass weren't real happy about it. We did manage an 18 lb limit, but big fish was only 4 1/2 lbs and the bites were few. Mike is fishing an upcoming tournament so I am bound to silence as to what, where, and how!!
City: Yuba CityTips: The water is ugly in places and fairly clear in others. We saw some silversides - finally! They looked to be all of an inch long - very small!! The bass are eating something - they look in great shape!

Water Temp: 78-81
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Troys report is pretty much dead on. The bite is not wide open but if you cover enough water you will find fish willing to bite. Friday fished from lakeport to shag, I had 7 fish mostly junk fishing biggest 4 lbs on a buzzbait. With the front coming in the next day I decided to stick with mostly topwater and had a much better day 11 fish alltogether, biggest 6.5 lbs on the buzzbait again and the frog bite was real good catching 6 of the 11 fish for the day.5 biggest in at 21 lbs.
City: WintersTips: Cover as much water as possible the fish are holding in small areas and sticking once you find them. I used the buzzbait to cover water and find fish then worked the area with the frog then later in the day returned with a punching rig for a few more.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: The Fishing at Clearlake still remains fair with very little changes from the typical summer patterns currently working. We are starting to see big schools of juvenile bass (three to four inches in length) congregating in the backs of marinas & protected coves. As the summer goes on & the lake level continues to drop, these juvenile bass will begin to make there way out into deeper, more oxygen rich water, which in turn should improve the topwater & swimbait bite. The North end of the lake is still heavily weeded over so keep on the move untill you locate the fish. If you should get a blow up or catch a fish, chances are ther are more fish in that area, so fish it thoroughly. Your best bet for being successful in the north end is to get on the early morning topwater bite which happens pretty fast like 5:30am to 8am and use buzzbaits & Super Spooks. Mid lake & the south arms have been kicking out some decent numbers of fish on deep rockpiles and docks adjacent to deep water with crawdad pattern jigs & crankbaits. There has been some fisherman doing well fishing at nite at places like Shag rock & Henderson point using dark colored jigs & drop shotting worms. The Catfish action is definantly hot right now with fish ranging from five to fifteen pounds being caught on cut baits & nightcrawlers in both shallow & deep water all around the lake. One thing is for certain, there has been very litlle fishing pressure out there. The lake has been like a ghost town mid week with very few boats on the weekend. Troy Bellah (Clearlake Outdoors)

Water Temp: 78-79
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Finishing the previous mini-report, Mike and I found the bite to be pretty good. I had a slow trip - only landing 2 - but caught the biggest - a bit over 5 lbs. Mike had a great trip landing around 12 or 13 - several in the 4 to near 5 lb range and brought a 6+ to the boat which broke his line! Our limit was 22+ lbs.
City: Yuba CityTips: I fished a frog quite a bit up to sunset without a hit. Sad! The worm and Senko bite was pretty good. After dark we found fish quite shallow - hitting Berkley Havoc baits and brush hogs. The hour before dark produced the best bite- after dark was spotty. We pretty much stayed in the Clearlake arm.

Water Temp: 71-75
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Previous reporter was right - Clear Lake becomes Green Lake - in many areas! A friend and I hit the lake Wed evening from 6 pm to midnight and found the bite to be pretty good for bass - and catfish!! I got another 10 pounder and we both caught a smaller channel cat. We landed 12 or 13 bass from 2 to 4 3/4 lbs on Senkos, 10" Berkley black Power worms, and brush hogs. We fished the narrows and south end, trying to avoid some pretty strong wind. Our best 5 only went about 19 lbs - again! Tulle edges and rocky areas held most of the fish. Not many on docks. Because of the wind I guess, bass were more shallow - 10 to 20 feet.
City: Yuba CityTips: Weed edges are now becoming important. Lots of bass in the 10 to 15 foot range where the weeds thin or create an edge. I tried a frog for the first time in the evening, but no takers - maybe because of the cool wind and rough water.

Water Temp: 78
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Fished 17th, 18th and 19th. Stayed at Konocti Vista and fished from State Park to Lakeport. Other club members reported south end really green with algae, so didn't make the run. Best results were in the morning on buzzbaits and dropshots. Find the clear water and you found the fish. The fish we caught were off the tulles a bit in the weeds. Best bite was buzzbaits thrown over isolated weeds in the clearer water. Only had four frog fish. Kinda disappointing but the buzzbait fish made up for it.
Weights were 26# on the 17th, 18# on the 18th and 23# on the 19th. All fish were caught before noon. Had 7 fish over 5# for the trip. Not a lot of fish but quality was good.
City: BrentwoodTips: For size, throw 1/2 oz white double bladed buzzbait. For numbers and an occasional big one, dropshot MM3. Better get in a hurry, lake is getting greener by the day.

Water Temp: 74-77
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: I had a "teach-the-lake" guide trip Monday night with two guys learning the sport - and the lake. We had our heads in the Lowrance HDS-8 as I showed them lots of neat ofrf-shore structure. We did fish several hours after dark, but the bite was slow and there was enough wind that fishing was difficult. I think they had several fish they didn't feel and they missed several. We did manage 6 bass up to 4 1/4 lbs. Friday afternoon/night, Mike Sperbeck and I gave it a shot for about 6 1/2 hours. Fishing was still not great, but not bad. He caught 8 and I had a grand total of 1. Yea, but mine was about 6 lbs!! Didn't mess around with the 3's and 4's that Mike was catching. Yea, that sounds good!!! Beautiful evening - warm and no wind.
City: Yuba CityTips: Mike fished the evening before dark with Senkos and I fished buzzbaits and Chug Bug topwater baits with not a touch. We were up by the state park. After dark we fished several areas in the Clearlake arm and had our limited success there. I caught my 6 pounder on a brush hog, about 30 feet deep! Mike was using brush hogs and Senkos for his fish and they were fairly deep also. They like his hogs better than mine! Our best five were around 19 lbs.

Report: I should have heeded Larry Hemphill's warning!! Unfortunately, I had already rented a house on the lake for the weekend. So we made the best of it. It was so windy and at times rainy; I only took the boat out on one day (Sunday). We managed 1 spawned out 4Lb Bass. However, we did manage to nail some hefty Catfish from the shore (12Lb, 10Lb, and 9Lb. All on Nightcrawlers.

Report: Shortest trip in years!! After towing to the lake, talking to my clients for half an hour, and towing home - about 3 1/2 hours, including a quick stop at McDonalds!! Been several years since I felt the lake was too dangerous to go out. Last night it was!! Ugly!!! I would like to keep my new Z521 in ONE piece, as well as my clients and me!!
