Water Temp: ?
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Late report-got in a 45 minute session off the dock at dusk on Tues 29th. Between 6:30-7:15 got 3 in about 3-6' feet of water, first two on a 7.5" Robotail neon grn pmkn texas style, last one on a Revenge craw clrd jig with a grn pmkn rage tail trailer. Didn't launch the boat so didn't have my scale, but all three nice fish around 4lbs + each. Threw a spook for awhile, no action. Bite switched off right at dark. The wind and the cooler nights have really helped with the ugly water. Wasn't expecting much, just screwing around and BAM! Glad I got a line wet!
City: Clear Lake ParkTips: Long sweeps with both worms and jigs. Dragged 'em a couple/few feet, long pause, repeat. They'd take it after it stopped. In hindsight I would've used black/blue/dark colors 'cause of low visibility. Wasn't being too subtle, they needed movement to find the bait. Lot's of smelly jelly.

Water Temp: 71-76
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Started late and left early but just disgusting water. Launched at the oaks. The green scum layer in some places was several inches think. Tried to find clearer water, north to Shag rock no luck, the break south of there was clearer but no luck, got a couple dinks on a dropshot off old dock piers in 8ft. Tried 15-25 ft water with no luck, plastic, swimbait, crankbait. Finally, on the way out stopped by Rattlesnake and the water was clearer from the island to about 10 feet deep. Ended up with another 6 fish in 45 minutes on a Senko. No size though. Saw alot of shad that were 1-1.25 inches. No clearlake hogs I was looking for.
City: PacificaTips: I did not find anything deep and there are fish under the scum.
Someone let us know when the lake turns and the water clarity comes back..... -
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Camped this weekend at the State Park and got to fish in the biggest green, slimy mess I have every fished in including the FL Everglades but overall once you get over the smell and the cleaning off your lure every other cast there are fish to catch. The bass seem to be on a shad pattern following the large schools into the shallows, once you find the shad just keep cover water. Caught 10 up to the 5.5lb range most in the 2.5-3lb range
City: WheatlandTips: spinnerbaits, topwater, and rattletraps

Report: 25 fish caught total. 3 to 5.8 lb. fish. All fish caught on a Revenge 1/2 oz. spinnerbait. Purple metalic shad. First time on this great lake. A few caught on front corner of docks or casting past a docked boat and moving my boat so that bait ran under the docked boat. All others caught off rocks in 2 to 6 feet of water.
City: Las VegasTips: Coming in cold I first stopped at Clear lake Outdoors Tackle Shop at Soda Bay. I would like to thank the boys for hooking me up with the spinnerbaits that led to my success.

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Spent the late morning and afternoon along the State Park area with my float tube. At the mouth of Cole Creek I caught a bass on a silverish chatterbait outside a weed patch. At the mouth of Kelsey Slew I caught bass on a silver spinnerbait on a weed patch, and a bass on a reed point with a surface frog. At the beach area, I caught two bass in the reeds with a silver spinnerbait, and a three bass in the weed patches with a horny toad. Had a dozen of missed hits as well with the topwaters (I suck at topwater). Returned to the beach area in the evening before it got dark out, but the area was dead. All the fish today were in the 2-3.5 lbs size.
City: Livermore, CATips: Work the weed patches along the State Park area in the late morning/afternoon time with silver spinnerbaits and chatterbaits, as well as topwater lures. For topwater, surface frogs, buzzbaits, and horny toads are producing fish.

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Took the float tube out to the County Park area in the morning for a couple hours, but had no luck.
In the afternoon I head to the beach area at the State Park and fished the weed patches outside of the buoy line. There was a great afternoon topwater bite going on. Caught 2 bass on a blue/black buzzbait, and 4 bass on a dark green surface frog. Lots of missed fish as well, so if you're good with topwater lures, definitely give this spot a try. All the caught bass were in the 2-3.5 lbs range.
In the evening I headed to the opening of Cole Creek and fished the weed patches there as well. Caught 1 bass on a white spinnerbait, and 3 channel catfish on a white spinnerbait. The silver-sides were really active, and the catfish were gorging on them like crazy. If you want some good catfish action, head down there right before sunset and while the silver-sides are still active and try white spinnerbaits and kastmasters. Should be great!
City: Livermore, CATips: Work the weed patches along the State Park area with topwater lures and lures that imitate the silver-sides (such as white or silverish spinnerbaits).

Report: Wife & I launched at 7:00 am from Red Bud. The algae bloom is still on - not at gross and a few weeks ago but very thick. Didn't catch our first fish until almost 8 :00 am them caught them pretty consistently until 1:00 pm. Then slowed down and got hot so we called it. Tried shad crank baits early with no takers, then went to drop shot, Senkos, and brush hogs. Caught 9 and wife caught 3. Best 5 - 18 lbs. Fish were fat and healthy. Most were shallow near tulles; we did get 4 off shore in 20+ feet.
City: Yuba CityTips: The algae allowed us to fish closer but because the fish couldn

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: I fished my second small tourney last night (Angler's Choice) from 6 to midnight with my friend Mike Sperbeck. We also fished Fri afternoon/night. Results were pretty much the same - about 16 1/2 lbs Fri and we were probably 5th in the tourney with 18.25 lbs. I did get 3rd big fish at 5.99 lbs! Don't they round those off to 6?!!!! No 9's like the previous tourney - I think there were 2 just over 6 lbs. Fri afternoon I got a 4 1/2 on the Piranha swim jig (white) and the 5.99 on a black/blue swim jig. We basically fished the whole lower lake arm except for Jago. Finally did see lots of Silversides, but they were rather small. Most of the really green algae has cleared some because of a few cooler nights and lots of wind Thurs. NOT SO at the Red Bud ramp. Yuk!!! I'll bet those tourney bass were thrilled to be released in that stuff!
City: Yuba CityTips: There are some areas that are holding quite a few bass, but they are pretty scattered. Finding the bait does help. White crankbaits, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, and swim jigs are working better now. Lots of bass holding at 20 feet, give or take a few. Jig bite seems to be a bit slower, but we did catch some on jigs. Brush hogs and Power Worms continue to work at night. A black spinnerbait might be the trick for a better quality night bass as we get into fall. Try to "tick" them through the weeds or slow-roll them around drop-offs.

Water Temp: 84
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Water Clarity 0 to 8 feet, south end Red Bud 2 feet of turtle poop as my son calls it, go up north but stay to the right side of the lake and you will find 8 foot of vis in places and that's where I finally started getting fish, I spoke to 2 sets of guys, ones that were using minnows and ones that were using artificials, both said the bite was good until about 10:30 am and it died, they were fishing the 1/2 inch turtle poop in the south end, I got there about 11:00 sat for nada for 4 hrs staying to the left side of the lake thinking if the wind is blowing to the right side (southeast) the clearer water should be to the left or west side, wrong ! the clearer water was hidding behind points on the southeast side of the lake that I found. Caught fish like the previous report on zoom swamp crawler watermellon candy and yes I met Bob the guide there 3 years ago and he turned me on to it also, I was not even a client, I was watching his clients catching fish and I asked what they were using and he gave me some, now that's cool !! Once I found good water I got 6 fish to 3lbs in 40 minutes but they day was done and my Son and I were hungy, came back to same spot Sunday, this time I bought my son a new big boy fishing pole and got him a doz minnows, I bought him night crawlers with no lock on the last 3 trips and he got nada so I said if you don't catch a fish on a minnow it will never happen, so I hooked him up with the minnow and I started with the zoom worm, I got one on my first cast and put the rod down and made sure he got one, 30 minutes later and 2 dead minnows I said forget it, I put 3 hooks on the line and 3 minnows and watched in amazement as he did not get a bite, so I said that's it and started fishing again, 1 minute later my 5 year old son starts yelling and lands his first large mouth bass all by him self, a nice fat 3 lber !!!, he got a total of 3 Sunday and is hooked but I showed him by catching 5 on drop shot and one on creature bait that artificial can out fish minnows if done correctly. I don't want him to get addicted to minnow fishing, its fun once in a while but takes (sorry guys) very little talent.
City: San JoserTips: Find your clearer water, I got fish in 8 to 30 feet of water, there were big schools of silver sides on top and in deeper water, toss it out and eat a sandwich, don't move it and they will eat it. The one creature bait in Margareta Mutalator I was draging very very slow, the bass did thump it good when she did hit. Oh, I did hook a carp or catfish on a crank bait that I got tired of fighting and said forget it and thumbed my reel, this fish pulled my 18 ft Ranger very slowly into the wind for about 10 yards with my Team Diawa rod bent in half before my crank bait came loose, I think I had it faul hooked, it was fun for 10 minutes but after that it was not :)

Water Temp: warm
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: After great success several weeks ago, I couldn't wait to get back on the lake. Similar conditions with the "turtle poop". Some folks believe that fishing pressure = tougher bite, but you couldn't blaim the lack of a good bite on fishing pressure in the south end. Not many boats, compared to other weekend days. Although the bite was a little tough, I know others did very well, probably those that know the lake. Girlfriend caught a 5+ pounder which made the trip.
City: Fort BraggTips: Only one taker on a top water. Saw others do well with crank baits? I wish I knew what they were doing that I wasn't?

Water Temp: 78-81
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Yes the water in the south end at Redbud was like Pea Soup, but Saturday morning they sprayed the water and most of it went away. The Basin Bassmaters did their two six hour all night tournament with most anglers coming in with limits and big bags. big fish was 5.25 on a DD22 FireTiger. My first 6 hours was great, crankin the DD14 at rock had limit within 30 minutes. The tournament started Friday night at 6 pm until midnight, then 1 am to 7 am. Most of the fish you will find are around 2.5 - 3.5 lbs. I started at the Golden Gate Bridge and before midnight I boated 30 bass, lost 10 more and two nice big cat fish. When the sun went down I tied on a Zoom 8" worm Black/Blue worm on a Texas rig. Some of the bass are in 12-17 ft of water but I have found most of the in 3-10 ft. Manly on points, Oxblood Worms, Beavers is the best day time color right now. Around docks, points and rocks. Just make sure you have good line and hook.
The winning weight for the two 6 hour tournaments was 37 plus, I finished third with 29.50 lbs. The bass started bitting again at 4 am, died off around 1 am.
City: RocklinTips: Crank-in, dark chatter baits with a dark blade, Norman DD14 and DD22, Oxblood color plastic.

Water Temp: 77-82
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Two trips to discuss - Tues night in the usual nasty wind and Thurs in the usual hot, calm sauna. I donate a trip every year to the fine Christian college in Rocklin - William Jessup University. Two great guys went with me - one who had a previous good trip with me at Oroville. Could history repeat? Yes! While the numbers wern't real good, he caught his personal best - a nice 5 lb 2 oz bass! His partner also caught a nice one about 3 1/2. Unfortunately, the partner lost several in a row because of the wind. While clients and I have been using brush hog and Kreature type baits lately, after some munchies at dark, they started casting them the black light for the first time. Great first-time experience in the dark of the moon! They loved it!! I then tried again to get bit on a 10" Power worm which has been a little off this summer. My first cast hit the water and line jumped within 10 seconds! nice 3 something pounder. I caught one more also on the worm. They caught the other 5 with the big one being a special thrill for me because it jumped but I didn't see it. When I netted her I had no idea she was that big. Nice surprise!! He had waited a long time for a 5 pounder! I'm not sure about our 5 best, but around 15 lbs. Thursday - yes, daylight, two more fun clients wanting to learn the lake better. So we ran around - and ran around! Didn't fish the whole time but did a lot of metering and discussing seasonal movements. Unfortunately, the fellow in the back of the boat - usually the "hot" seat, didn't catch one. He is an excellent trout fisherman I hear and kind of new to bass fishing. His day will come. I fished maybe half the trip, letting my "middle" guy run the boat. The bite really was slow until we hit the "last" spot - a dropoff near "honeymoon" cove. At 1 pm, we found 'em - sort of! He and I caught several there between 2 3/4 and 3 1/2 lbs. He also caught one that was deformed and starving - very sad. He is an excellent "stick" and I enjoyed watching him fish. He was using his big brush hog - black/red - the same one I use a lot at night. Again, we only caught 7, but our limit was 15 1/2 lbs - nice quality summer bass.
City: Yuba CityTips: The bite seems to have slowed some - at least for some of us. This spring and summer - so far - just doesn't seem like the 'ol Clear Lake bass factory! I was encouraged to finally see some bait - silversides I think. Problem is - hard to see bait at night! Thursday we did some frog fishing in several areas without a sniff - though not after 1 pm. Most of our quality bass were only 10 to 18 feet deep. We did fish deeper but couldn't get a deep bite. Lots of carp on the meter for the first time - all depths. All our bass had 30 feet of water close by. I did notice that our bass were caught in the green, dingy water (day trip). There could be bait there that we don't see.

Report: Never fished clear lake before, great trip. Hired guide Bob Myskey-good man. Boated 21 fish in 5hours, all drop-shot. Made me cry to be culling 3lb. fish. Wife even caught a handful, & she's not a fisher. Usually just reads her book.Want to go back again.

Water Temp: 78-80 deg
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: This was my second trip to Clear Lake. What an amazing fishery. Some club members and I from Southern California came up here to catch these Clear Lake Bass built like line-backers. We fished it from 7/20 thru 7/24 from 5:30 AM to about 2:30 PM every day. Even though the algie is in full bloom and thick there were plenty of bass to catch. I had two techniches working for me. Throwing 7" Robo's in and around docks for the first couple of hours in the morning. Then later when the sun got higher I would pitch jigs in the tules and on the shady sides of docks. What I ended up with is 73 landed bass in the 2.5 to 4 lb range. I did land one of three giants that weighed 8.3 lbs, and missed about 25 bass from not setting hard enough when they would swim off with the jig. I lost one 6 to 7 pounder that the jig tore out of her mouth when she was a couple feet from the boat (at least I got the fight out of her). The one that broke my heart I never even saw. I pitched a jig up tight deep in the tules. As soon as it hit the water I felt that slight pressure and set hard. She charged out of the tules like a freight train leaving a wake and splash that was equal to a Labradore Retriever diving in. I fought her for about two seconds until she went for my trolling motor and knocked the jig right out of her mouth. I did throw the frog in grassy areas with no takers. I did catch two bass on Friday morning on Splash-Its. That was the extent of my top water action. I did notice a bunch of small shad up tight in areas where I was fishing. I can't wait until next year. Clear Lake is awesome!
City: Canyon LakeTips: Work 7" Black Grape and Oxblood Robo Worms texas rigged from shore to 18 feet early morning around docks. When the sun is higher casting shade under docks pitch jigs up tight to tules and docks. Use Black in the darkest stained water and Pumpkin in slightly visible water.
