Report: Launched out of Indian Beach on Friday. Stayed on the south end throwing frogs and dropshot with baby brush hogs, only 3 fish in 8 hours. Called Ross England, he said the south was dead, and head north towards Lakeport, he also added to throw senkos. Started Saturday morning @ Lakeport throwing watermelon candy senkos, had a limit in 45 min. Biggest going 4#. Nothing bigger all day but alot of fish on the line! Had a blast out there on the water, THANKS ROSS for the tips!!!!
    City: Carson City

Tips: Right now everyone is catching fish on either senkos, flukes, or frogs. All the action is up north NOT south!

Report: Fished in our mendo bassers club tourney yesterday. At blast off i sat sat and watched evryone run south. Not only from our tournament, but also the clear lake bassmasters were launching also. So 35 boats blasted and me and my partner mototred over to curinthien bay about 120 yards off shore. We had some luck with top water. I had several blowups on a frog, caught two off them with the senko. Then my partner stuck a 6 on a big topwater bait. a real skinny post spawned fish.We ended up winning our club deal with 18.88 a good day on the water.
    City: ukiah

Tips: Top water in the morning. we also had success when a fish rolled, throwing on the boil with a weightless bait the fish would anihilate it. A few on senkos also. But pretty slow.20 fish split between us.

Report: Fished out of redbud. Tons of algae in the water. Boat ramp was nasty...spent hours cleaning the boat and trailer when I got home. Fishing was decent. Caught a few using sinkos and brush hogs...nothing to brag about.

I am moving to Colorado for the military...anyone know anything about bass fishing there?

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Fished Friday from about 2pm until dark. Wind was nasty so we looked for cover. fished the south end from bass alley to Cache creek....nothing happening. Finally found them up by Jago and Henderson. All fish were on the outside weed lines in about 5-8 feet of water, especailly if there was a dock piling. Senko was the ticket....threw all kinds of reaction for nothing. All fish were 2-3 lbs. Caught 10-12 each before heading in. got back out on the lake early Saturday morning and found a nice topwater bite with a baby bass spook jr. Caught 7-8 before they stopped hitting the spook. Middle of the day was slow, with an occasional fish on a senko or Margarita Mutilator Roboworm. Found a couple fish on a rock pile with a jig. Found a couple more flipping way back in some tullies. Missed one on a frog, and that was the only action I hade with Kermit. The bite was definately slower on Saturday. Last couple fish came on a DT 10 crankbait off a point. Only reaction fish of the trip.
    City: Sacramento

Tips: Throw a spook in the morning! Switch to plastics and jigs during the day. Look for clearer water. The water farther down south was really murcky and didn't produce as good.

Report: Sometimes, amazing happns! Didn't know what to expect with the weird weather lately. I was helping a fellow prepare for an up-coming night tourny. We fishing below the narrows which is all I can say. We were surprised at now good the early evening and night bite was - 17 in the 2 hrs before dark and 11 after dark. And his fish total was 17 out of the 28 we caught. A few in the 1 3/4 to 2 lb range, but the rest were good quality - several in the 4 lb range. We were a few ounces shy of 20 lbs for our 5 best. Found some as deep as 20 feet this trip.
    City: Yuba City

Tips: Weeds, weeds, weeds! It seems one can cast any where and there will be bass - because the bass and ANYWHERE!! Mo more "docks and rocks!" The Piranha swim jig started working again last night, though it was tough in the weeds. Had to pick your spots. I wasted a lot of time fishing all sorts of topwater, trying to force a bite. Conditions were just not good for that - but I did win one on a very long cast - a near 4 pounder on a white D&M buzzbait.

Report: Fished Sunday and Monday. Sunday morning I caught a six pounder with a black/red buzzbait off the tules before sunrise. During the day I caught 4 2-3 pounders on Senkos. The next morning I caught a small one on a black/red Snagproof frog.
    City: Corte Madera, CA

Tips: Buzzbaits and frogs seem to be working in the morning in black/red. During the day a whacky rigged watermelon/creme laminate Senko worked well.

Report: No reports for 8 days? Never seen that before. Mine is a few days old - last Thurs night I took two gentlemen for their first ever night trip. The bite was slow but topwater started to happen!! While I had them fishing plastics before dark, I tried a Chug Bug to see if anything was happening on top. Near Sea Breeze, the bug just disappeared as a big one inhaled it. She was real big, but lost her after a half minute. The next one did stay on and she weighted 4 lbs. I quickly put the rod in one of the guys hands and taught hime how to fish it. By the time he was working it properly - with lots of "spit", it was dark - no luck. After dark the bite was ok as we caught 9 or 10 - one 4 1/4 that looked about 16" long - a true "football!" Brush hogs were the best bait with one or two on Power worms. Tulle/rock areas produced most of the fish - down to the 10 foot level.
    City: Yuba City

Tips: I got the feeling that some of the early spawning females are roaming around now, starting to feed. They really nailed the topwater bait. They should hit shallow rip baits in the morning and evening too. Folks don't think about that much in post-spawn. Nose-hooked Senkos are great in the weeds. Remember, we used to catch 'em that way before Wacky became popular. Blade Runner Tackle (Rick Tietz) makes a weedless jig called a "Paddle Head". Add your favorite trailer - it should be good this summer!

Report: Fished mostly topwater flies out of a float-tube just W of Nice. Fast action on frog flies 2-3" long, with maybe 10 bass over 45 min in the evening. No big fish but all nice at 2-3.5#. Met two guys in a bass-boat w just 2 fish - I love the irony - me in an inner tube w flippers and them in an 18fter w 250hp - but, I admit I would trade in an instant!
    City: Eureka

Tips: The guys in the bass boat switched to smaller lures after we left-maybe that was the difference (and the flippers!)

Report: I did my double duty again Friday - 1st trip at 7 am and 2nd at 7 pm - no nap in between - couldn't sleep! The day trip was really fun with a talented lady angler and her "I like hunting better" husband. This was her birthday present trip from him - to learn the lake. One can't tell the difference between Fridays and weekends now - bass boats everywhere!! We spent a lot of time running to spots and did work some on off-shore structure so they can learn how to do that when summer and fall come. The fishing part was very slow - she caught the only bass - a 4 pounder. I broke off a big bass to start the day using 10lb test - that is the end of 10 test for me! Don't even know why I used it. She missed 3 or 4 others too. She had a good hookset too. Great people!! The night was much slower that those of last week. Another great client - first time night fishing with the black light. Again, we missed several, probably spawners moving the bait. We did land 6 bass to 4 1/4 lbs but did not hook any big ones. Limit was only 15-16 lbs. Highlight of the trip was that he DID NOT hook the same tree as others did last week!!! I warned him not to be number 3! We fished the west side of the Oaks arm and the lower lake arm. Baits used during both trips were plastics, Yamamoto Kreature baits (#301) and green pumpkin Power worms during the day, along with a few beavers. Brush hogs and dead ringer worms at night. Tried topwater a bit - no takers. Overall, slower than last week.
    City: Yuba City

Tips: Sometimes I stop and think about the pressure this lake receives during the spawn - I hope the lake can sustain it. Towing back to Yuba City the last 2 Sat mornings (about 4 am) on hwy 20, every second or third vehicle heading west was towing a bass boat. Granted, there is not a lot of traffic, but really amazing. I know the Future Pro tourney was last weekend, but I was still amazingly amazed!! Looks like a battle brewing again this summer with weed growth and the sprayers trying to slow it. With the lake down 2 to 3 feet from last year, frog fishing and Senkos could take center stage. We'll see!!

Report: Larry your report was great, as usual. We were out most of the day Saturday and the lake was busy with the FPT. We found some new docks for us that were holding fish in the north, caught 4 in 1/2 hour biggest was 4lbs all came on the docks using Senkos and Pepper Jigs. The rest of the day was hit or miss, a couple here a couple there all on docks or tules. The fish were all clones from 3-4 lbs with a couple of smaller fish. Everything was caught on Senkos and Pepper Jigs all day. Threw swimbaits, frogs looking for bigger fish that apparently were not there.
    City: Grass Valley

Tips: If you wanna catch the 3-4 lbrs read above...If your looking for bigger fish talk to Larry!

Report: What are the odds of two different clients on two different nights putting their brush hog in the same branch in the same tree - 20 feet above the water - on a full moon night???? We beat the odds in my boat - it did happen! In their defense - the branch was hard to see!!! The final two night total was 21 docks snagged, 14 walkways, 3 ropes, and 25 tulle berms!! I might have stretched this a bit, but got to have some fun! Their casting was fine - just a slight accuracy problem, har!!!! Seriously, their bass catching skills were pretty good and got better as the nights wore one. My 2 guys Thurs night did well - one catching a 3 1/2 on his first cast. This was their first trip to Clear Lake. They really missed a lot of fish but did land 7 to 4 1/2 lbs and 2 big CRAPPIE on full size brush hogs! Wow! We did run into a few quality bass - one of the guys lost a big one close to the boat and I did get a 6-3. Nice limit of 21 1/4 lbs. The bite got better after 1 A.M. and was still going when we left at 3 A.M. Fri night found me with a father and two grown sons who have struggled catching bass on previous visits to Clear Lake. Maybe because of fishing pressure during the day, the evening bite was very slow compared to the previous night. Right at dark the bite picked up but they missed most of the fish that bit. As the night went on, they got the hang of setting the hook and landed 8 - all quality bass except 1. One of the sons landed his first bass ever, a 4-7 and dad landed his PB - a 5 pounder even on the scale. They all caught fish with good quality! I fished some and was 0 for 6. Their limit was over 18 lbs. Unlike the previous night, the wind came up and for some reason the after midnight bite just died - totally!! Amazing.
    City: Yuba City

Tips: While we did catch some bass in the bright full moon, we were more successful on the many shadows the lower summer moon provides. We used dock shadows, tulle shadows, and rock wall shadows. Green pumpkin was the best color during the evening hours of light and black/red at night. I good two terrific hits on my D&M Piranha swim jig but lost both good fish. I looked at the hook, yes, too many rocks had worn the hook down. The #301 Senko got a lot of attention before dark. Junebug was the best worm color after dark. I tried a black/chartreuse Power worm after dark which is usually good about now, but no takers last night. Our biggest bass both nights were off the bank some. We fished from Buckingham to Wheeler Point.

Report: I am the night part of the previous report, minus the 9 pounder! I took 3 fellows last night for the rough water version of night fishing. We went out of Red Bud about 7 pm and took on the ocean as we headed north. How I love my Ranger 520 in those conditions!!! We stayed dry! We had to find what wind shelter we could in Jago Bay and did find some active fish - very shallow. I was very happy that all three clients caught a good bass within the first half hour. Guide feels good - hopes clients don't get seasick!! Several fish were missed including a big one, but we kept at it, boating 14 up until midnight when the bite just died! The two biggest were pushing 4 lbs. Senkos and MMIII Robo worms were the best baits. A few took black Berkley Power worms. Most bass were in the top 5 feet of water - inside the weeds. The big one that was lost was on a dock piling. The deepest bass was 20 feet. Never saw another boat - I wonder why? Heard 3 carp roll all night. Didn't hear or see any birds except for a few ducks bobbing around. We were in full winter gear! Brrrrrrrr!!
    City: Yuba City

Tips: I can't give much good info as the wind and cold were the story of our trip. As I mentioned on an earlier report, we caught mostly males - without a mark on them. It seems the majority of the spawn is yet to come down south. The water temp was 62 when we started and dropped to 60.6. And this is almost May?? Rain coming Friday night. Another June spawn??

Report: Launched from the Keys and braved the waves and went North. Caught plenty of fish thanks to Bob at Limit Out Bait and Tackle. Worth the stop every time. Caught fish on blades, jigs, senkos, and caroilina rigs. My Son caught a 9.12 fish on a Senko. He thought he was hung on a log until it started moving. Biggest fish of his life.
    City: Elk Grove

Tips: Stop by and see Bob at Limit Out. And be careful if it's windy. The water can be rough and wear your kill switches and life jackets..
