We did catch one 3 on a deeper rock pile early in the morning.

Report: big storm the day before but blew past pretty quick...next day went out with a fishing guide...ross...took us site fishing...caught a total of 12 bass all 3+...biggest about 4 and a half....great day of fishing...after went to the tackle it shop and bout a powell spinning rod..130 bucks!! geeze..well worth it...the next morning i fished the sloo and saw tons of spawning bass..the problem was getting them to eat...well anyways...caught about 6 bass within 2 hours and a guy was trying to get a big bass to bite...it looked like a 10 pounder...well he was trying to fish it for bout an hour just bouncing tubes by it and finally caught it...ended up being a 7 and a half pounder.. pretty nice fish...had a great day a clear lake...cant wait to go back during the fall for some amazing top water bites...yah!
    City: salinas

Tips: find a spawning bass and dont spook him but creep up with the trolling motor and pitch a drop shot worm right past him bout 2 feet then drag it until it bumps the fish and keep repeating that and within 5 bumps..the bass should take it for sure and if not then give up on the fish and find one that wants to play..goodluck!

    Water Temp: 62-68

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Jimmy F, most of those ropes attached to docks are to keep the docks from swinging left or right... You have a float tube, you can float right up to those ropes and fish the insides. On to the report... Fished from friday to monday and had 2 good days and 2 mediocre days. I saw tons of spawners and cruisers, but most of them are spooked. I did pretty good throwing senkos along the sides of low docks. I caught a couple on the frog. It seemed like the fish were biting better on friday and saturday when the temps were'nt in the upper 80's yet.

Report: Great day off the docks of Jago! So clear you could see the bottom of the lake and about ten bass guarding their eggs. Dropped a jig in front of them and annoyed them into the bite. After we released them they went right back to their eggs. What fun! 6-8 lbers.

Report: Took a day off work and fished the Keys all day. Launched at 6:00 or so at the oaks and started throwing topwater. Got 2 in the first 10 minutes, then nothing. Switched to flip baits, beavers, sinkos etc... Ended up with 5 fish total for about 15 lbs or so. Not sure what happened, but I thought I was going to slay them. Probably should have went up north

    Water Temp: 56-70

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I just came back from a four day run at the lake.Friday thru Monday. The water temp spiked to 70 in the keys, and around 67-68 on the main body with the warm weather this past weekend. Water clarity on the main lake was as much as 5-6 feet at times, and in the keys it was muddy-6 inches or so. I had a fairly tough time, largest fish we caught was a tad under 4lbs. On Monday the shallows came alive with tons of spawners crusing, and some fish on beds. The issue was that they had NO INTEREST in any baits. I ended up the weekend with a handful of small fish, and one of my buddies saw the biggest bass of his life on a bed! (He has a 9 lber to his credit)As usual, I thought they would be jumping in the boat this weekend, but the boat scared them away. We saw a lot of fish, if they get rid of their current lockjaw-it should be wide open.
    City: Antelope

Tips: I tried it all, listen to someone that hooked numbers.Have fun!

    Water Temp: 64

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Float tubed the keys looking for the PB fish. Ended up with 3 fish all under 3lbs. Did lose one that was big, I was picking out a professional back spin :), when my line takes off . I reeled up the extra line but didn't get a good hook set. I did tell me to sloooow down . Dead sticking caught my fish .I Caught them on 6 inch senko , (watermellon black flake). I also wanted to thank those indivuals on the docks who put up rope or cables to keep people from fishing the docks. Whatever your feelings for float tubers I wanted to give a big thak you to the guy in the ranger that pulled up to me and went around me . What was nice to see is we cruised down a 100 yards or so to give me enough bank to fish . We didn't coc* block me and gave me some fishable water. I can't say everyone used the same attitude toward me today .
    City: Rancho Cordova

Tips: Fish Slow and watch out for rope and cables.

Report: Noticed that there isn't a lot of truthful reports surfacing recently probably due to the big tourneys coming up. Knocked the crap out of them on cranks up in the north end. Anything running 3-4 foot deep and with some purple or chart. on it worked. Speed traps, CB's fat free, it all worked. Nothing worth talking about in the Keys. Got a few decent ones between Jago and Konocti, but most of the quality fish were up north. A few on buzzbaits in the am too. Best 5 over 26lbs with an 9.1 kicker.

    good luck
    City: Benicia

Tips: find the subtle offshore breaks and such. You might look like you are fishing int he middle of nowhere, but it will pay off.

Report: Me and some friends will be headed down from Washington on Thursday night to fish Clear Lake for 10 days. I can't freaking wait!!!!! See you on the water.

We will be staying in a rented house in the keys. Look for a White, yellow and black skeeter and a Ranger fish and ski. Stop by and say hello or just have a beer.

Tips: Don't know yet but I hope to find out real quick!

    Water Temp: 62 to 68

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Launched at Redbud at 9:30 am for four hours my wife and I fished the rocky bank and docks to the left as you leave the launch and hit open water. the bite was hard we only Caught 6 fish running 2 to 4 pounds...talked to a few others and the same thing for them as well...
Then pulled out and went to Lakeport where we staying at Skylark...got our room and headed back out on the water for a couple hours of fishing, and caught a 4 more males on MMII worms.
went back to the room and takled with a few people that were there from Wyo. and Oregon...they too were having a bad day as well. I figured with the weather warming over the next couple days the bite should really turn on...
Monday hit the water at 6am headed to the tules...(I love fishing them)...Started throwing a FatFree Shad in the fry size and third cast put a 10.11 in the boat. As the wife was lipping the fish the crankbait came lose and slammed into her hand...that was a first for her, you talk about someone going ghostly white...
We only pulled 5 fish out of the tulies..so we cruised on down to the rock pile and fished that for a bit and the wife caught 4 fish on 7" purple worms. She was fishing it super slow...
Tuesday was a much better day...we cruised over to Niece, Luceren and then over to Soda bay and found all kinds of fish on beds...we fished every thing from white grubs with blue pearl to senkos to pyrple worms and ended up with 122 fish for the day...nothing huge all 3 to 5 pounds..we got back to the room and the wife made a comment that her thumbs were so tore up and sore from lipping so many fish....
    City: Roseville

Tips: Overall once again Clearlake is the best CA lake to fish...the weather was very warm and the fish were really moving up on the beds...everywhere you looked there were fish...
When you tossed something at em they would split..found out that you really had to agitate and piss them off to get them to bite...unless you backed off and tossed that worm or grub 20-25 feet and slowly worked it back in and with every cast you got a fish...
The best numbers of fish came from inside of coves fishing open water in 4 to 7 feet...
I love this lake, and it has produced my two biggest bass...the 10.11 is my biggest ever...
I have stayed at Skylark prior to this time and I don't know what has gone wrong with the place but the service has really gone to the crapper...
We stayed there Sunday through Wednesday and had to call the front desk for towels, coffee every single day we were there. Then on Tuesday late afternoon we tried to get into our room and we had to go get our card keys reactivated...
The only good thing about staying there was we launched from the launch ramp at the motel and the size of the rooms that were on the water...

    Water Temp: 60-64

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Sorry for the late post. It was a good weekend for me at Clear lake. Fished hard in the Keys for 8 fish up to 2 lbs on senkos and beavers. Moved to redbud area and things picked up. Started getting bit on white blades with double gold colorado blades. I tried other combos, but this one worked the best. Picked up another 8 fish, but the quality was better. All 2-3 lbs. Tried Rattlesnake and got nothing shallow or deep. Not sure what is going on there because I usually get them at that spot. Went to a couple of places in the north end and fished swimbaits in the tulles. Big fish was 7+ and 4 5lb ers. Nothing smaller than a 3 on the basstricks.

Will be back there this weekend up north going for a 10!!!

Tips: fish slow with blades and swimbaits

    Water Temp: 53-59'

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Fished Friday and Sat. with my friend Ben. Still tuff fishing all the South end haunts. Rock piles, points, docks, etc. managed 8 fish total, with a 7.34 toad at 3 pm on the pipeline near Redbud. All fish were caught on an MGM 5" senko, weighted wacky style. Christmas Tree in color. Threw many baits, just couldn't get bit.
    City: Redding

Tips: The water is warming, I'd like to go back later this week. I'll bet the bite will really turn on.

    Water Temp: 57-61

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Had a rough Fri. evening. My buddy hooked 2 very shallow on a spinnerbait which both shook off. We both had a few bites but only 2 in the boat on jigs. I threw a L.C. Pointer for nada. A sweet beaver for nada. Numerous other baits also. The wind picked up limiting our areas to fish. Tried from 15 ft in to 1 ft. and couldn't find any consistency. I think the cold front shut my spots down because I was doing pretty good before it came through. Fished mostly the lakeport area. Some stable weather will hopefully get them going again.
    City: Yuba

Tips: Nothing good to offer. Rough day for me.

    Water Temp: 53'-55'

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Drove 2 1/2 hours to find the South end clear and cold, with a storm front approaching.( I should have stayed home and fished Shasta) Put in at Redbud, fished shallow with zilch. Went to deeper stuff in the South end, including docks and rock pilings. Zilch. Finally got a 3 ponder on a tule point, first cast with a spinnerbait. Then around 11:30 got blown off the lake, with heavy rain thrown in.
    City: Redding

Tips: I hope the water warms by the 18th, for a club tourney I'm fishin.....

    Water Temp: 54-57

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Once again I tried to time an incoming front with clouds dimming the moon - and failed! I think I could drive weather away anywhere in the world!! I was cloudy and warm when I started at dark last night, but about 11 pm the heavens said: "Watch this, Larry". Boom! Not a cloud in the sky until I left and bright near-full moon! Shadows here I come! Actually the bite was steady all night for 2 3/4 to 4 1/4 lb mostly male bass. In fact I was 20 for 20 - rare for me - 20 bites in the boat!! Then I missed 2 in a row. All in all, 23 or 24 nice bass - all but 5 or 6 over 3 lbs. I just missed a 20 lb limit by a few ounces. No sign of spawning marks on any of them. I just fished Red Bud area and Jago Bay. Night water temp was 54 all over.
    City: Yuba City

Tips: I found the most aggressive fish - some actually took off with the bait - under docks, pilings, and walls with shadows. I fished jigs but couldn't get bit, nor did spinnerbaits and Piranha jigs work. A slow moving brush hog was what they wanted - black/red. Nearly all fish were the usual 4 to 12 feet deep - a few from 15 to 20. I wish I could even say I lost a monster - but I didn't, Just in my dreams!!!

    Water Temp: 53-62

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Had a rough time prefishing. The weather went south on us and the bite followed. On Saturday the bite picked back up just in time for the tourny. Water temp came up in the small sloughs, where the water was sheltered and clear. We threw chartreuse BLADES almost exclusively. Some of the club members fished swims in the heavy grass for some nice fish including a 6.92 spawned out hog. The key seemed to be finding the warmer water. Once it hit around 53 the bite turned on, and the warmer it got the hotter the bite. We finished 4th, but only 3/4 pound out of third with a 29.74 2 day bag.
    City: Sun Valley

Tips: All I can say is find a pattern that is working, and stick to it. We caught 4 fish in 6 days not on blades, and around 50 on them. Be persistant. Be patient. And have fun.

Report: Thanks to Mike White for the advice. The info will help out tremendously. So I've got the boat inspection, launch ramp, and fee's taken care of but does anyone know HOW to fish clear lake????? I hear it's very similar to the delta which I fish often. My arsenal so far is: black/blue jig, wacky rigged senko (purple, junebug, watermelon, etc.) swimbaits (shellcracker, mission, spro trout hardbait), spinnerbaits (bluegill, black/red, shad), crankbaits (crawdad, shad, bluegill)10 inch power worm and big show paddle tail texas rigged. That's all I can think of so far. Any other options?????? Thanks to all for any help! I am NOT a tourney angler.

    Water Temp: 54-56

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Rick Tietz and I made a quick night trip (6 hr) Fri night to check out the bite. We lauched out of Red Bud and just stuck in that general area. When we started, about 9 pm, the carp were rolling and the bass were chomping. Rick's FIRST cast with his Blade Runner spinnerbait enticed a big bass. I yelled "break it off - can't catch one on the first cast!!". Well, he did land her - about 7 1/4 lbs. We were doomed!! The action was great - we quickly put 5 in the boat, then --- the lake went dead! After 2 hours the bite did pick up again for smaller bass and we even hit a hot spot that produced several in a row. The problem was they were mostly males from 2 to 3 3/4 lbs - no big ones. We tried many presentations with the Blade Runner jig working best for him and a brush hog for me. I did catch one of the bigger ones on the Pirahna swim jig but that bait wasn't as effective last night. We quit about 3 this morning with a total of 20 bass and a best 5 of almost 21 lbs. Rick caught the biggest (by far!), I caught the most - AND - the smallest at 13 inches! I thought Clear Lake bass were born at 2 lbs!!!!!
    City: Yuba City

Tips: As most of you know, I relate weather patterns to the bite on nearly every trip I make, and many patterns have held up through the years. I was surprised to see my Ranger boat covered in heavy moisture (dew) by midnight. I thought than was strange after 2 or 3 dry days of north wind. The carp never resumed rolling much, no bird sounds, and it was just quiet out there. It has always been difficult for me to catch big bass on nights like that and other anglers have agreed. Just my observation. That was on the south end. Things could have been different mid-lake or at the north end. We caught our bass from 3 to 15 feet - couldn't get any deeper bites. Saw tons of carp on the meter for the first time and lots of bass too - but the bass seemed to be suspended and not very active. To finish this discussion up, many of those moist, damp nights have been followed by drier conditions the next night and a wide open bite. Hmmmmmm - wish I was there tonight!
