    Water Temp: 43 to 45

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I put 2 to 4 feet of visibility but we found water that you could only see one foot and water in the middle of the lake you could see 10 feet deep which turned out to be the better fishing water, my Brother Benny, Daughter Brianna, Son Brandon and friend Tyler went and did some minnow fishing, on Thursday I rulled with 24 lbs, a 9 lber, a 5 lber a 4.8 lber a 3.5 lber and few 2 to 3 lbers, Friday was about even with about 7 fish each going a total of 12-14 lbs but on Sat we pick up my Brother in law Joe and now we have 6 people in a 18 foot Ranger, even with 6 people that boat was very stable, anyway my brother Benny smoked us, he had I think 13-15 fish to 5.8 lbs and my brother in law only got one and I only got one, 13 year old Tyler got 3 !! I don't know what my brother was up to on Saturday but he was on fire. Here is a fun little story, my kids have donated 4 snoopy and barbie poles along with many other items to the lake over the last 4 years, my daughter saw a Barbie pole at Lakeshore bait and tackle and said I want that, being the softy I am I bought yet another pole for her, after a few hrs she decided to rest and put it down, I had already got a 4.8 lber and 5 lber and a few 3's and I said you know what? I want to catch a fish on the Barbie pole, its so pretty and pink so I put a minnow hook and 2 split shots on it, my 7 year old daughter was in charge of the minnow so I said please give me a minnow and she gave me what looked like a small trout so I put that sucker on and before I get a bite my brother catches 2 fish, well finally my little 2.5 foot long Barbie pole loads up and the fight is on, I never knew those little Shakespear reels could handle a good size fish but it did, after many runs we got the fish in the boat a 9 lber on the dot!!!!
    City: San Joser

Tips: Biggest fish on the $250.00 set up 5.8 lbs, biggest fish on the pink Barbie pole 9 lbs.
So tip # 1 sell your spendy set ups on craigs list and go buy Barbie poles(this set up also makes you look very manly almost KVD style)Tip # 2 tie up you brothers hands so he can't smoke you!Tip # 3 for you purest, I did get 2 fish on a yamamoto creature bait one evening, if you wan't to catch fish on artificials you will need to fish from 5 pm to about 12:30 am, you can catch some fish during the day but its long and hard.

    Water Temp: 47-50 Degrees

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Went to the Big Lake on Sat. night to see how things might be considering the weather has been great, although we need the rain needless to say. The night was absolutely a dream, no wind, cool not cold and really good action. It's been since mid December since I had fished at night there. Fished mildly deep rock and Ledges. (mildly meaning 10-23 ft.) Picked up my first fish around 10:15 pm. a little over 2 lbs. Between 10:15 pm and 11:15 pm the bite was consistent to say the most. Smaller fish and a few predictable bites. Once 11:30ish came around the bite got much better and bigger. Picked up my best for the year 10lbs. 14oz.(Ha Ha) followed by 9.5ish on back to back casts. Didn't want to spend too much time messing with em considering the depth I was fishing. That was a pleasurable first for me 2 fish for 20 lbs. Anyhow bite was pretty open until around 12:45am and it slowed down. Caught 13 Fish in all with 36-37 lbs for best five give or take a few. Off the water a bit after 1am. Noticed that the window of opportunity was there for a short time and it helps being in the right place at the right time. I tell you what, landing fish like that at night is what keeps me coming back to this lake. A good freind and great guide told me that this time of year the bite can turn on at anytime, and boy was he right. Thanks Larry
    City: Yuba City

Tips: Stay positive and stick to your game plan, patience goes a long ways. I was using two different baits. One was the good ol Brush Hog w/ a Swrew in 3/8 oz bullet weight, and a 3/8-1/2 oz. Persuader Jig in Black/Blue or Black/Red. I also put on a Yammamoto Flappin Hog as a trailer and lots of Scent. I personally use Smelly Jelly Crawdad/Anise or Crawdaddy. I also like to use Baby Brush Hogs and the Kinami Noris Bug as a trailer. Personally I feel it isn't so much of the tackle but more of knowing where to be and at what time. Please Email me for anymore information. Thanks

Report: Made a quick trip to see how the night bite was holding up. Slow, but ok. I only caught 6 bass in 6 hours but the 5 best were over 26 lbs with a 9lb 3oz beauty on top. She took a D&M chatterbait-like thing in about 30 feet of water. It's called a Piranha Swim Jig. Bob Higgins of Limit Out Tackle said they were good - and they are! I use a Yamamoto 5" grub trailer. All the other bass were 4 lbs or over except the 6th, about 2 1/2 lbs - which I somehow snagged on the D&M. Overall the bite was slow - no birds sounding and not a single carp rolled.
    City: Yuba city

Tips: The quality bass are still deep. Don't let the sunshine fool you in January and early February. The sun is still not high enough to do much warming and the time of warmest temp is still very short. I only fished rock structure - did not try docks. The big bass came at 8 pm. Usually a big bass in the winter will bite between 10 and midnight. Always be ready and release them immediately unless you are prepared to deflate their air bladder. I had to do that with the big one as I took her photo.

Report: Glad the reports section is working again - thanks Gator! Last Wed night (14th) I fished by myself from 7:30 pm to midnight and found the bite to be good - first trip in '09! I used Power worms, brush hogs, and a Chatterbait-like thing I bought from Bob Higgens. It worked! I had a 23 lb + limit and told myself I had to quit at midnight because the ISE show was the next day. On schedule - at 11:58 pm! - in 30 feet of water my brush hog got crunched. For the first time ever I was totally fooled - I knew it was a catfish by the way it fought, side to side motions. But she gave up after two minutes and I netted something without whiskers. "Mama Bass" weighted 10 1/4 lbs and filled the length of my salmon net. The 10th bass of the evening was a "10", and I could leave on time - almost! Friday night was much slower - I only had 7 bites and landed 1!! How's that for Clear Lake payback?! My fishing buddy landed 3 or 4 nice bass, but nothing over 4 lbs. We went again this Tues evening, fishing from 7 to 1 am and found the bite to be pretty good - for me! Yea, poor guy. He only landed one - at 6 lbs 5 oz! I did pretty well with my biggest at 7 3/4 lbs and several from 4 to 6 1/2 lbs. We did put together a nice limit between 29 and 30 lbs. Nights were chilly but calm.

Tips: When one fishes several days (or nights) in the winter, it is amazing how important the timing is. A spot will be great at 11 pm one evening and dead two evenings later. The first trip I mentioned found the bass more active for a longer period of time than is normal for winter. They got more active as the last quarter moon rose, about 10:30 pm. The bass seemed to move into the new forming shadows and that is where I hooked the "10". It is dark of the moon now so none of that will matter for awhile. I am using a lot of Smelly Jelly this time of year. The night I lost 6, many were on the chatterbait thing, but they wouldn't hold on long enough for a good hookset. One needs a good hookset for that bait! We only fished deepwater areas that had ledges, or a flat with a breakline. That is the key for winter fishing.

Report: This time of the year is cold, but using Jumbo Minnows from Limited-Out Bait& Tackle is the best bait. Hook it on a small cycle hook and a #4 split shot and just drag it over rock piles in the South end of the lake will get you 25 of the largest bass for the winter. Most of ours were 3-5 lbs. The Junior Bass Club and I stayed in the water all day just catching fish after fish. See Bob at Limited Out for these Great Minnows and have fun.

Tips: Drag very slow and stay on the rocks.

    Water Temp: 45.6-47.1

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Lets say the bite isn't red hot, but we boated 30+ fish today to 4.5lbs using Jumbos. Fished from 8-4 in the south end of the lake (15-30' depths). If you want to take someone over just for some fun without working your tail off for a couple of bites on artificials, pick up some Jumbo Minnows and hang on.
    City: Yuba City

Tips: The water is cold, let the fish run with the bait before putting the hammer to them. For you purists out there... Don't knock it till you try it :)

    Water Temp: 53-54

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I fished Tues and Wed evenings - just for the fun of it. I will have to say that Wed evening was the most stunningly (is that a word?) beautiful Dec night I've ever seen! Water was a pane of glass - shoreline lights and Christmas decorations everywhere! It was cold but not the usual Clear Lake cold. That comes this weekend!! The fishing was pretty good but monsters were hard to find, in fact, I didn't find any! Tues night I had 15 bites and landed 13 of them for a near 21 lb limit (half the weight of my limit a month ago)! Wed night I couldn't put them all in the boat - only landed 8 for 19+ lbs. I had 3 hard winter bites (finally) and missed those for some reason. Big fish Tues night was a 7+ that I didn't weigh. She hit a Chatterbait in about 35+ feet of water and it took awhile to get her up. I released her immediately so as not to stress her out.
    City: Yuba city

Tips: Tues evening I caught a few bass as shallow as 2 or 3 feet on rock ledge-type banks, where there was a slight shoreline shadow which blocked the bright moonlight. With the water this clear, fishing anywhere in the bright winter moon can be real tough. Remember, the winter moon is like the summer sun - straight up at midnight. You can read a book out there in the moonlight. I find I can get some good bass to bite on a bright night if I can find shadows or fish deeper than 25 feet in open water. I caught all my bass on plastics and a few at dusk on brown/orange Rodstrainer jigs with the usual "180" Yamamoto grub trailer.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: How many people across the country can complain that they only caught 3 1/2 to 4 pounders on a bass trip? Well, I'm complainin'!! Just kidding!!! I tried hard for a 20 lb limit but fell short by half a pound and couldn't even stick a big one. I fished myself out of Red Bud for 6 or 7 hours, checking out some areas. The bass seemed to be schooled a bit more - some area had nothing and others produced quite a few bass. I fished rock and ledges - didn't get any dock fish. Biggest was 4 lbs 6 oz and I did catch a few small 2 lbers. Several were 3 3/4 lbs - looked like clones. Cloud cover was good for awhile, cleared about 10 pm but didn't seem to slow the bite. 30 degrees when I left at midnight and no fog.
    City: Yuba city

Tips: I used Yamamoto Kreature baits, brush hogs, and two of the 3 biggest took a ChatterBait about 20 feet deep. One would think the bass would start to nail baits now as the water cools, but not for me. It is still a subtle pickup in my boat. I lost more bass than usual for some reason last night - they didn't seem real committed. I wound up with 18 bass. Same depth worked for me, 10 to 25 feet.

Report: you should go see bob at limit out bait and tackle and get the basstrix hollow body's they have great action. If there is wind look for good ambush points, retrieve fast enough so the tail is paddling nicely and work your spots thorough. Osprey's have been working well also but not for me this time. good luck, tight lines and happy holidays!

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Got in a couple hours for Turkey day weekend. Fished along North Drive up to windflower for a couple of little guys on dead ringers, then shot over to Rattlesnake before dark as the wind picked up, and managed to pick up a few better fish (2.7, 3.2, 3.13) on southwest side of island in about 8-10ft of water. Stayed in the wind and chop and did better than behind the island where there was no wind. All three fish on cinnamon yami kreatures T-rigged on 3/0 ewg's, 1/4 oz weight, all right before dark. Also threw the swimbait for awhile on hwy. 20 side, but no action.
    City: Clear Lake Park

Tips: Keep it tight. All bites on the drop or shortly thereafter. Wasn't casting right on the bank, but off about 10-15ft. Look for tule and rock combined, move around.

    Water Temp: ?

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: One of my fishing buddies took me to Clear Lake last night for some fun fishin' and it was still fun. We didn't do the twilight bite - starting about 8 pm until 1 am. He even let me catch the biggest which he never does! The biggest wasn't very pretty however, in fact looked like she had recently spawned, no kiddin'! Big mouth, quite skinny, and weighed between 6 3/4 and 7 lbs. Nothing like the great shape the other previous big ones have been. We boated 22 bass for a nice limit over 25 lbs. Would have had a lot more but my partner lost more than he deserved! The bite really slowed after 10:30 pm - talked to another angler and he said the same thing. Since the weather is historically warm this time of year, small bass are still around. I caught a 10" bass - you never see those this time of year! We fished from the back of Konocti Bay to Kono Taye.
    City: Yuba city

Tips: I did something last night that I was determined to do no matter how good the plastic bite was. I fish a Booyah Boogee Bait (Chatter bait type) and it worked well, catching 4 of our biggest fish. I was using a 1/2 oz model and caught the bigger fish about 15 to 25 feet on that bait. I would isolate individual deep rocks and swim the bait over them. That worked several times. At Kono Taye, I ticked it over the tops of weeds and a 5 1/2 slammed it - best bite of the fall! Something different is always fun!! Brush hogs and jigs worked well too. Fish seemed a little deeper last night overall.

    Water Temp: 56

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: fished from 7pm to 9pm caght and released 15 bass to 5 lbs fished the south end from konocki to redbud all fish caught from 10 to 15ft on jigs, the bite was all light had to move around to catch 2 fish at each spot, winds were calm then picked up at 8pm with the bite getting better. the bite should get good for the next few days before next week when some foul weather comes in. need to keep fishing every nite until then so I can beat larrys 42 lb bag which should not be a problem in the next 3 weeks keep watch on photo page larry? see you out there?---marty---
    City: Clearlake

Tips: this time of year the fall bite is taking time to get consistant. waiting for the water temp to hit 52 and stay at that temp for a week or so. the bit is hit and miss so you need to keep on the lake as much as possibe to be on time for the double digit party, whick should be within the next 2 weeks, you need to fish each spot for 30 min or so then keep moving to find a reaction bit: see you on the water. ----marty--
