Report: Ok, well, here's a report or ya. Yesterday, I went ishing and just took three poles and the lures tied to them with me just to walk around the lake and catch a ew ish. As I was walking around, I had caught a ew 2lbers pitching a 5" chartreuse senko. I walked up to a spot, made a pitch to some tules, and then saw a BIG ish out o the corner o my eye. I couldn't quite tell how big she was because she was just barely visible but she looked long enough to go at least 5-6lbs, but I could tell it was a bass or sure. So I pitched my senko out in ront o her ace and let it sink, and sure enough she ollowed it down, but didn't bite. So I sat there shaking it and my line went slack. So I set the hook, and my hook came lyin' back to me with no senko! I've never quite understood how a ish could pull that o so easily. Well, I almost wanted to cry ater missing her like that, but then I noticed her come back into view a bit....right in the same spot in about 2t o water. So I put on another senko and pitched it at her another 20 times but she wouldn't eat it....just look at it. A couple o times she would get kind o irritated with it I think and she would swim o and come close to the surace, and just kind o swim around in a big circle then come right back to that same spot. When she came to the surace I realized she was a little bigger than 5-6lbs...maybe even 8. By now I was iguring she was on a bed because she kept moving right back to that spot. Ater she reused to hit the senko, I grabbed my rod with an 8" worm. I lipped that out a couple o times, and let it sit and shook it on her nest or a bit. I saw her go down to take a look and disappear out o view. Then my line went slack again...so I set the hook...and brought back a worm with no tail. LoL. Obviously a bed ish...she was just picking stu up by the tail then carrying it o the nest. Put on another worm and made another 20 lips with it to no avail. So I grabbed my last rod with a 3.5" grub on it. Once again, shook it on the nest, elt her pick it up, set the hook...and no tail again!!! ARgh! Anyways, I spent 2.5hrs yesterday trying to get her to actually eat, but I only got her to hit those 3 times beore I had to leave or work. At one point, a bluegill must've come near her nest because all o the sudden she was chasin' a bluegill and chased it right up shallow right in ront o me...I could've hit her with my rod tip. That's when I saw how big she really was and thought she could possibly go 9, even 10lbs!! So on my way to work, I stopped at my house and grabbed a ew more rods and practically all o my tackle. I igured I would go straight back to the lake ater work and throw everything I got at her and make her eat. LoL! Then ater work, I went straight there and decided to go through the ront gates because it was late enough to where the rangers shouldn't be there to make me pay a gross amount o money to ish, and because the ish was right there at the ront o the lake. Well, I got there, and the main gate is locked up and totally blocked o!! Apparently they were re-paving the entrance road...well, I was pissed and went home. I igured I'd wake up real early this morning and take everything with me over the back side o the lake and walk all the way up ront to the ish and hope that she was still there. I made it there at around 7:10, and irst decided to try a big 3/4oz jig...igured she'd have to eat the whole thing in order to take it o the nest then. I couldn't see into the water though that good to see i she was still there or sure because o the act that it was still pretty early in the morning plus it was pretty shaded where she was. Well, I made about 5 lips with the jig, and was shaking it or about 30-45 seconds, and I elt it get heavier all o the sudden...set the hook...and sure enough...once again...NO TAILS!! Well, at least I know she's still there. Put on another trailer and lipped it another 15 times but she wouldn't touch it again. All right...next lure...5" Bass Candy tube bait...kind o a black smoke color w/ red & black lakes...with a heavy 3/8oz sinker. I igured the back end o a tube bait would be harder or her to hold on to especially with a heavier weight like that...to make her really eat it. Made two lips...2nd time...I started shaking it on the nest or about 20-25 seconds, and the line kind o went slack all o the sudden again...set the hook...and the rod bends over like I stuck a log!! WOOHOO!! It's on!! LoL. She must've jumped about 4 times clean out o the water, really gettin' my heart pumpin' and my knees shakin'...LoL...she also made a some good runs beore I horsed her in while she was still loppin' a bit, and I grabbed her lip and held on!! Lited her up and I just started laughing hysterically. hahahaha. d:o) I held her in the water or a bit, so I could get mysel ready to run over to the ranger's station to weigh her...lucky she was about as close to the ranger's station as you can get...d:o). I ran her over and yelled inside to get the scale and camera...she looked out, and said...Oh my gosh, that's the biggest black bass I've seen caught out o here! That's probably the lake record!...so she pulls the scale out and I lit her on...10lbs 3oz!!! WOOOOOHOOOOO!!!! She took 4 photos with her polariod camera, and then took 2 with my camera. In them meantime an older guy drove up to the rangers station and just sat there in his car looking at it and also said...Wow, that's the biggest bass I've seen caught out o here! How big is it? 7? 8?...when I told him 10-3 his eyes just about bugged out o his head. Anywho, I ran her back down to the water, and held her in there to get her wet again...then I grabbed some ishing line and got measurements or weight and girth...length 25" and girth 19.5". Then I eased her back in, and as soon as I let go o her she just swam o lookin' good!! Anywho, so I went back to the ranger's station to give the lady ino on the catch. I asked her what the lake record was anyways, and so we started looking through the record book, and apparently it was the 8-1 that I caught in March! Oh ya, and some guy also caught an 8-1 sometime this last week using a nightcrawler at the boat ramp...I'm not positive, but I would guess that it was the same one I caught in March because I let her go right at that boat ramp. Anyways, so the 10-3 is now the lake record I guess. WOOHOOO!!! I you want to see the pics o this ish check 'em out on the photo section o this website...http://www.ncb.com/ncaliornia/photos/showphoto.shtml?213.shtml

Report: Ah, so that was you out there in the boat today eh Ryan? I saw you guys cruisin' around...and gettin' blown around by the wind a bit towards the end o the day. LOL. Anywho, I ound pretty much the same thing that you guys did today. However, I didn't want to throw the senko until I had to. haha. I ished rom around 12:30ish - 5ish. I started o throwing a Pop-R and immediately had a good 3lb ish absolutely EXPLODE on it...clean out o the water and everything...but he totally missed it. LOL. He just knocked it to the side. Bummer. Threw that or another 10 minutes without any takers, so I switched over to a luke. It's been a long time since I ished lukes and saw them sitting there all lonely in the bottom o my box today, so I decided to pull them out. I ished the luke or a while and caught one 2lber with it, tight to the tules. Started throwing a spinnerbait ater that and stuck two ish with the spinnerbait (both 12" dinks though). Then I decided to see i I could get the lip bite to happen with a jig instead o a senko today...ished some o my real conidence tules that have been holding ish or the last month or two now, but couldn't get them to go on the jig. So inally I went with the senko...well...a kinami lash...and stuck two ish...2 & 2.5 in the same tules I just ished with the jig...another senko day I guess...went over to the cove inbetween the boat ramp / island and worked all over in there with the senko just casting to the outside edge o tules...I went all the way back to the bridge basically (this high water is pretty cool! hehe) without any takers...so I decided to try getting up close and personal and got mysel in lipping range...that was the ticket. Proceeded to catch 7 more bass on my way out o the cove (and I only made it halway out beore I really had to jet) by lipping to where no man has lipped beore...well, maybe...lol...but I gotta tell ya...they were DEEP in the stu today...well, not deep, but shallow...haha...I swear I was lipping no more than a oot rom the bank at times in no more than a oot o water and sure enough they were there. Biggest one today went about 4.
    City: Antioch

Tips: Flipping into that heavy o cover in that shallow o water and pulling out ish is deinitely one o my avorite ways to ish. Fun stu. I'd certainly like to get a PIG doin' that. d:o) Lures today - Super Fluke: Baby Bass... Spinnerbait: 3/8oz White w/ 4" plum colored twintail grub or trailer... Kinami Flash: 5" Chart/White...

Report: WHEW! Ok, I don't eel as bad now. LoL! Gosh...sure had me goin'. I was about to eat my hat with you catchin a 9.9 d:o) I ished with Josh Schroeder this evening or a couple hours...him in his kickboat, and me in my tube. I got out a little late and Josh said he had caught 3 little ones already. He caught another couple ish ater that around 1.5-2lbs using a hula grub. I lost one ish on a spinnerbait as I was makin' my way down the eastern bank over towards him, and then once I made it to him, I lost one in the tules lippin' a senko. Ater that we moved over to the cove between the boat ramp and the island and worked all around in there without even a bump. Everything was looking just perect to throw a Pop-R though, so I just couldn't help mysel. On my 2nd or 3rd cast, I had a good blow-up, but seein' as to how that was my irst topwater hit o the year, I got a little excited and set too early. Ater that I threw that thing all throughout that cove without another blow-up. Ater that we made our way to the point, and lipped the tules there. I caught 3 ish there on a senko...biggest was just under 3lbs. Ater that we headed back in.
    City: Antioch

Tips: I lipped a pearl gold colored 4" senko. There was quite a bit o cloud cover this evening and a bit o a cold breeze. No rain though...

Report: I was saying that it was a 9oz. bass. When I said that I weighed it on my scale and it was a 9 what I meant was that is was a 9ozer. Those were two separate sentences. I only wish I could catch a 9lber.

Report: Well gosh dang there Aaron...are you sure you didn't make some kind o typo there? Did you just say you caught a bass weighin' 9.9lbs? On a rickin' spinnerbait? LoL! Now that's a good ish there! I've been ishin' this lake since I was 3 years old...so that's 15 years now, and it took me that long to just stick one over 8 in this lake last month! Got me beat. Well, I know they're in there though...I've seen 'em. Anyways, I wasn't going to report about today, but I've had a lot o crappie ishermen e-mail me over some time now askin' me about any crappie that I catch out o this place, so I igured this report might be o some use to them. I only ished or a little longer than an hour tonight because I had some time to waste, so I just walked along the eastern bank and threw a spinnerbait and a topwater. I caught 2 bass that were both just a little more than a pound each, and then I caught a 1.5lb crappie. I was throwin' a red spinnerbait, and the crappie came out o about 2t o water pullin' my spinnerbait through the tules. I didn't have any strikes on the topwater I was throwin', but there were deinitely some surace eeders chasin' shad. I was just ield testing this topwater bait that a riend o mine made to see i it'd get any takers, but nothin'.

Report: Started o the day with a nice 2lber just around the corner o Channel Point. It came on about the ith cast o the day on a blue/chartreuse Persuader spinnerbait. Later I went over by the bridge and saw a small bass sitting in a oot o water. i kept on lipping a jig in hid ace until he got pissed o and ate it. I went back over to where I caught the 2 and started throwing the spinnerbait. On about my second cast I got a bass. I weighed it on my digital and it was a 9. 9ozer that is. Didn't catch anything ater that. A pretty good day by my standards. I'm just started to igure out this lake. I've only been bass ishing here since about February.

Report: Yes, it's true, the lake is back open to boats / loat tubes, and I just had to get out there right away. LOL. I drove by the lake yesterday just to ask i it was opened back up yet, and when I heard the good news, I was ready to go at 9:30 this morning. I launched back by the dam and boy was the wind goin'. There were a ew white caps out on the water, real cold wind, and dark skies. My original plan was to swim straight on over to the island and lip the tules, but with the given conditions, I igured it wouldn't hurt to tie on a blade and blade the tules on the east bank on my way there...especially since the wind was beatin' directly onto that bank. Well, I stuck one on about my 5th cast. I ished rom 9:30 - 12:30, and I caught 10 bass all in the 1-3lb range. I had a limit within an hour....not too bad. It started raining at about 10:30 and didn't stop until I let. Never saw the sun today. LOL.
    City: Antioch

Tips: I caught all but one o my ish on a 1/4oz Red D'uh! Spinnerbait. The last one I caught on a 4" Daquiri Ice colored senko. I broke o my spinnerbait and that's when I started to lip the senko. On about my 4th lip, I saw my line twitch and I stuck a 3lber. As soon as I reeled it in, my girlriend called me telling me to come pick her up, so that's when I let. Good day o ishin' today...just no solid 4-5lb ish.

Report: Started ishing at 1:15. I saw two guys out on a boat. I guess its ok to take boats out now. Tried Senkos or a while with no success. Went over to Channel Point still using the Senko. I saw the two guys in the boat again using spinnerbaits and catching a ew ish. So I switched over to a spinnerbait. Ater about 15 minutes o throwing the spinnerbait, I got one. It weighed 2lb 8oz. It came on a blue/chartreuse double willow Persuader spinnebait. Later I caught a small 11" bass on a Nichols spinnerbait the same color as the Persuader. I let at about 4:45.

Report: Holy crap, can't they keep the water at a constant level this year? LoL. It seems like or the past ew months now, the lake level is all the way up one week, then back down the next. Just last Wednesday the lake was uller than I'd ever seen it in my lie, and now this week, it's lower than I've seen it so ar this year. I'm sure that it doesn't help the spawn at all. I saw a ew spots let high and dry that looked like they were obvious bass beds. Also...I saw a lot o bass ry in a lot o places...what's with that? Anywhere rom 1-4"...are those rom late spawning all bass...or rom early spawning bass this year? Just thought it was kind o weird...Anywho, had trouble sticking any decent sized ish...but I caught 5 rom 1.5-2lbs. I ished the island and lipped a senko to the tules. I could see two 3.5-4lb bass that were sitting next to these two tule clumps, but they were very skittish. I couldn't get anywhere near them without them takin' o...they'd come back ater a ew minutes, but I was still never able to get anywhere near them. To catch the ish that I did, I slapped on my waders, and just waded around the island on the outskirts o the tules and lipped the tules with a senko...5" smoke w/ silver lk. The water was just shallow enough to where I could walk along the outside edge o the tules without it going over the top o my chest waders. It was un...can't get the loat tube in, so it's the next best thing. haha. Actually, I thought they wouldn't let me do that either, but I did it anyways, and a ranger walked by and just asked me how the ishing was, so I guess it was all right with them...
    City: Antioch

Tips: I dunno...this alling water seems to have pushed big ish away...where to? I'm not quite sure...probably o shore a bit and hangin' around some ledges...but can't get to those right now!

Report: Very sunny day. Almost too perect. First cast to a loating patch o tules yieled a nice 3.5lber. She never saw it, it landed and got hit. Excellent start. On a 7in junebug worm. Caught 2 more at 2.5lbs a piece. I started stalking ish, its hard not to ollow a 5 plus pound bass and toss a ew baits at him. I gave up out rustation. Saw a ish that easily was above 6 or 7lbs. Plenty o ish spawning right now.

Report: Got out to the lake at about 8:00 a.m. I noticed that the water level was all the way up today. I started throughing a Terminator Tiny T spinnerbait in the cove by channel point. Had no luck. I went across the bridge and ished over there. I pitched a 6" Chartreuse w/ black lake senko in by the tules a ew times. On about my 10th pitch I saw my line start to move away and get tight. So I set the hook. Reeled in a nice at 2lber. Ater that I didn't catch anything but a tiny 4" bass on a Trout Magnet. I saw a bunch o bass, big and small, swimming around and tried to catch them. But they could see me so I couldn't get any. Fished until 4:00.

Report: Well, don't eel bad twoody. I've been ishing that like since I was 3...so that's 15 years now, and I didn't catch my irst 5+ rom Contra Loma until just last year. However, it seems like once you break that 5lb mark, it's no sweat! LoL. Ever since that irst one, I've got no idea how many bass I've pulled out o that lake in this last year that were 5+. Just this year alone, I know I've caught close to 10 that were over 5. I think that I'm just really starting to get those bigger ish on this lake igured out. This is a report or 03-26 and 03-27. On the 26th, I went out and did some ishin' with my riend, Ken. He just had to get out there ater he heard about my 8. Anywho, I did all I could to try and get him on some ish, but the wind was HORRIBLE and he just couldn't seem ta get that senko into the right holes. I told him exactly where to pitch on each cast, and then once he got it in there and gave the senko a chance, I pitched in and ollowed up with a jig. He didn't catch any, but I ended up with 3...(3#, 1.5#, and 3.5#). Those irst two came on the jig, but ater that I had a 3-4lb eat the jig deep in some tules and she wrapped me up pretty good and I ended up losing the only jig I brought with me. So then I switched over to pitching a 5" chart/white wacky-rigged Kinami lash (basically a senko...lol). Then that's what I caught the last one on. Inact, I'm pretty positive that I caught that last one the last time as well. She was sitting in the EXACT same spot next to some tules. She's deinitely got a bed there I'm guessin'. LOL. ANywho, now yesterday (03-27), I walked up over the backside o the lake (west o the dam), so I could ish this end o the lake. 1/2 the water I wanted to ish though has been closed o! They've got the trail blocked o way beore the dam now. So I started in that cove on the backside there. I decided to pitch the jig all day and see i that did just as good as the senko. It did. I caught 5 ish and each one just got bigger. LoL. (3.5#, 4#, 4.5#, 5.5#, 6#) Once again...wind was HORRIBLE...sure makes things tough...
    City: Antioch

Tips: There are deinitely some big ish out there right now to be caught. Senkos and jigs seem to be the ticket. Senkos...doesn't seem to matter...any size or color. LoL. I orgot to mention I also caught a ew ish on a pumpkin colored Snoozer's "Alien" the other day when I caught the 8...it's a senko wannabe. Jigs...I do have a preerence...with the water being airly muddy right now, I preer a 3/8oz+ in the greens/browns at this lake. Bass Stalkers in Green Craw, Melon Pepper, and Pond Scum have all caught the ish...all used with a Pumpkin Pepper Green & Gold Fleck Claw Chunk trailer.
