    Water Temp: mid 60's

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I went out in my patched-up kickboat on Monday (it blew up at the Coyote Bait & Tackletourney on May 8th -- those Outcastolks can do *miracles* in repairing blown pontoons!). It was a little breezy, so I let the windpush me down a ways toward thewestern end. Fortunately, when I decided to head back upwind, it calmed down considerably, so I wasable to get back without toomuch o a struggle. The only ish I caught were on a split-shot 4" worm & a Texas-rigged Zoom BabyBrush Hog. I only caught ahal a dozen bass, & two o those shook o beore I got 'em to the boat -- I got 'em to within 10eet o me, though! None wereover a pound & a hal. I caught most o 'em o bare banks, but the two I lost came out o whatlittle shoreline cover I could ind. Icasted a crankbait a coupla dozen times, but to no avail. I threw a spinnerbait some, too, but noluck there, either. Post-spawnblues? I don't know or sure; maybe better days ahead. I *know* there're plenty o ish to be hadhere, & they're gettin' a littleBIGGER, too! We'll get 'em next time!

    Tips: plastics, cranks, spinnerbaits year-round.

Report: Fished on 05/06 rom 7:00 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. Managed to catch 8 keepers between 2 o us, ranging rom 1.5 - 4 lbs. All ish were caught on 4" curl tail grubs in either a chartruese or clear w/ silver & blue lakes. Also managed to catch 2 trout on the grub as well, was surprised that they were able to mouth it. Only saw 1 other guy out there besides us, he was working the oppositebank and managed to land a ew nice keepers as well. All o the ish were pre-spawn.....they were all at and heathly! The ish are there, but they're getting worked hard.

Report: Caught a couple on Sunday aternoon, ishing rom shore ('the point' o hiway 17, near the 3 isolated eucalyptus trees). One was a healthy 2-1/2 -to- 3 lb'er, the other just over a pound. Both were caught on a Carolina-rigged, craw-pattern zipper grub(pointed-tail, not curly) -- one green, one red. Nothing on a jerkbait or spinnerbait. When the drizzle started around 6:45pm, Iheaded or the SJ ponds o Coleman Ave & caught several more (same rig), but all were barely 1 lb. apiece. One guy said hesaw a *10 pounder* caught there a week or so ago, reportedly on a 'Rooster Tail.'

Report: Happened to be driving 17 today so I detoured over to the Lake. Got excited about seeing so much water in it. Hopes were quickly dashed once I got there. Big red signs all over the place "Closed to ALL watercraft to prevent Quagga Mussel infestation."

Report: that boat ramp is closed!? jeeeeeeebus. i was going to take my boat out tomorrow morning too. havent takin it out in almost a month and a half... guess i shoulda when i coulda. hmmm. looks like im going somehwere else tomorrow.

went out to the west side today, down the gated trail right south of 17/bear creek overpass (of the BIG dirt lot area), and was just there to kill some time before i saw the parents. to my surprise, i pulled in a nice 2.5lb LMB on a smoke rocketshad. gave up shit for a fight, but it was my first fish in a couple months, so gave me a smile.

oh, for jeff or whoever it was, as my knowledge of LMB vs SMB goes, the LMB's jaw extends a little past it's eyeball, and unless it was a mutant LMB, the jaw did not extend past. however, since i do not have a picture of the fish in question, i cannot cross-reference my data. i will, however, be more meticulous in my observations so i can tell w/o a doubt.
also hey, if anyone who trolls here has any good color combos that seem to be productive for winter, let me know. during late summer/ mid fall it was my sep's watermelon dodger and my good ol' lucky (59 fish and counting) pure silver kastmaster. i was pullin up to 6 fish a day off of that setup. then, LITERALLY one day, it stopped workin altogether.
i switched over to just a small gold kastmaster, and, as god and my fishin buddy as witness, i pulled in a MONSTER catfish (YES TROLLING) that got about 3-4 from the boat, took one look at my ugly face, and stole my kastmaster with a single turn. felt like i was pulling up a tree stump, the damn thing was AT LEAST three feet long, and that is including the displacement in the water and my guesstimation. damn thing was huge. a catfish... TROLLING! unheard of!

Tips: dont lose hope like me. just cuz u cant see them, doesnt mean they are not there.
i dropshot'd a senko almost all of the east back off my boat, from shore to deep water, to no avail. i am, however, not a master of the drop shot.

Report: the launch ramp gate is open. (for just a couple weeks now). i'm sure the paystation is up too - I use the yearly santa clara permit, so i wouldn't know. the permits a good idea if you get to fish much. it's $50 for the year - fees add up without it.
