Water Temp: 56-58
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: I really wish people would put in a honest report.Like if you are using bezerk jigs, Im ok with that sponsor deal or no sponsor deal, what color, what size .5oz .75oz??
what cover did you catch fish on points, ledges, flats, creek channels, wood, rock, boulders, main lake, pocket, cove, river arm??? If you take the time to place a report please place a report.
I have not fished here since I was 5 years old and have no clue what this lake is about.
We had a horable day even getting to the lake.
Leaf spring broke on hwy 99 near modesto and no flat bed would fit my 18ft nitro it was too wide.
My advise dont wait too long as a maintenance precaution you may want to change your leaf springs every 7 years or so mine broke at 12 years they lasted a while. They dont cost much and they are much easier to fix at home than on the roadside at 4am.
We were lucky to have some tools and get off the highway. We did not quit and we made it to the lake by 1pm.The Lake is Way way low .fishing was way way slow.Few bites few fish, what we were doing did not work so I wont advise it. Would be a neat lake if it was full.Look forward to some helpfull tips from a report than can help new comers to catch some fish at this lake.
City: elk groveTips: Keep moving for a bite or two.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: I've been going every weekend and the fishing is not good.It has been tough. I've only been catching 15 inchers. The only things that i can catch my fish on are dropshots with a shad patern worm or a green worm and berserk bait jigs.In the past month the only good fish that we have caught were a 10.4lb black, 6lb spot, and a 6.98lb spot and came on berserk jigs. The best bit has been right at daylight and about noon. I cant catch any good fish up river so stay on th main lake.
City: AtwaterTips: Use berserk bait jigs and stay on the main lake.

Report: Whoa a 10.4 toad! gotta get me some beeserk jigs. Let me guess, You're either the manfacture or sell them. a picture with a date is worth a thousand words.
City: OakdaleTips: Don't use beserk jigs. If you look at them underwater they roll on there sides. how does that imitate a craw? Save your money make your own jigs, it's fairly simple

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Me and my 14 year old nephew took off up to the lake for a few hours before Turkey time. I sure am glad we did as he managed to stick his biggest bass to date, a 10.4 pig!!! He caught it on a Berserk Baits jig in about 40 ft of water on the main lake. We also had a few decent spots, along with a bunch of rats. All in all it was a fun three hours.
City: AtwaterTips: All fish came frome 30-50 ft of water on 1/2 oz berserk baits jigs. The color is called Melon Craw, you can find them at Snelling 76, The bait barn, and soon at Escalon bait and tackle. Or check out the web site at www.berserkbaits.com

Water Temp: 68
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Spent most of the day in the lower end of the lake around the dam and other points. Most bass came on plastics (Aaron's magic, mm3, hologram shad) from 15-25 ft on drop shot and dart head. Early on a few where in 5 to 10 ft. The old dam held many fish and you could see it 10 ft below the water line (cool to see it from that perspective). Some guy picked up a 9 pounder on a swim bait along old dam too about 50 yards from us.
City: FresnoTips: As the day went on most fish went deeper (25-35 ft)

Water Temp: 81-83F
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Got on the water around 5pm and fished until 9pm. Started upriver and Horsehoe area. Caught a few standard McClure Spots and 1 small Largemouth. Went back down the river and fished the canyon and Arnold Bay area. Caught a few more spots here and there. Around 8pm I started throwing a buzzbait for the heck of it and on the second cast I caught a slot-size spot. Two or three more casts later I hooked up and that fish worked me over. Finally landed it and I'm guessing it was 7-8 pounds. I've caught alot of 5s and 6s and this one was definitely bigger than those. The best part was it was a spotted bass. No more hits on the buzzbait after that. That fish would be hard to beat so we called it a day.
City: AtwaterTips: Be patient, change it up. We did best on salt & pepper grubs on a darthead and then of course the buzz bait. The fish didn't move up to the bank until it got dark. Fish deep and slow when the sun is up. Look for steep rocky points w/ some shade on them.

Water Temp: 79
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: So a buddy of mine calls me late Friday night to go fishing on his boat. I shouldn't go because I have a whole bunch of things to do, but hey it's fishing! We hit the lake about 6:30AM and we start catching fish right away up river towards Bagby (32 in all.) I am throwing a 6" paddle worm on a light spinning rod catching your typical McClure spotted bass, just having a good ole' time. At 9:00AM I get this hook-up and right away I could tell it had some shoulders to it. I tell my buddy to back up the boat a little (it was a little breezy and we were moving pretty good) as this thing starts peeling off some line. I then get this thing coming back parallel to the boat and it comes to the top of the water and we get a look at it. My buddy says it looks like a four, but I said I think it is a five and the heart really starts pumping. I asked my buddy to get a net because we are going to need it. I get it to the boat, it sees the net, and it just dives. I get it back to the net (this all took about 8 to 10 minutes) and bang, it fills the net. Well, it was not a five. Nope......... IT WAS A 10!!!!!!! What can I say, a fish of a lifetime! What A Day! Thanks Lance for the phone call! I have some pics if anybody would like to see it. Just email me.
City: SalidaTips: My only tip, just keep fishing. You never know when all the stars are going to align and it is going to be your day.

Water Temp: 78-81
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fished from 7pm to 2am. Started at Cotton, and ended up fishing the wall around the west side of the dam. Between my partner and I, we caught about 25 fish, the biggest a 7lb Black, caught by Bob Mocci, and a 5lb black. Our five fish total would have been about 17-18lbs. Started off throwing blades (Silver/Red), and switched to Berkley Midnight Fire Power Worms at night. Also caught a few on topwater.
City: Merced, CATips: Rocky points, piles and shelves, edges of coves are good as well. go into coves with the wind. Saw a 10lb caught around the island in front of the dam. Fishing is good, especially for the heat.

Water Temp: 75-80
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Went out at 3:00PM, fished Cottonwood first and caught 4 fish in the 2.0 - 2.5 range within 15 minutes. Moved to Tempernace and caught several more in the same range. Moved to McClure Point and the action was the same. Fished from 3:00 - Dark, caught 20 plus fish, most in the 2 pound range. All fish were very active and hit reaction baits, crankbait, spinners, fast moving jigs (Brown & Black with red in the tail) etc... Many followed the spinners up to the boat.
City: AtwaterTips: Blades at in the evening are hot, work the mud lines and rocky points, it was windy but good.

Water Temp: 76-79 Degrees
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Started at 7:00 P.M....Fished up and down Cottonwood with some success. Caught about 10-15 between my buddy and me...all 12-14"..best were on a Chartreuse/Silver SpinnerBait...the rest on plastics: Delta Bug, Silver/Blue Flake Grubs, and Cotton Candy 6" Lizards...Caught my first "Toad" of the season at the point across from where the house boats used to be right outside Temperance...8.5 Pounds, 25" Long Black..caught her on a 6" Black worm with Chartreuse tail-Texas Rigged...strangely enough her tail was all torn up, wonder if she is a late spawner? Anyways we did well overall. All fish were caught in 6-10' of water, best off of points and rock piles...
City: Merced CATips: The wind sucks..but it helps blow the shad in..as my buddy Anthony Tanachion would tell me...focus on points on the south end..and if possible run up river...awesome cover is now exposed since levels have dropped almost 20' since the spawn..the water is now stained pretty good by afternoon, so think alternate colors, watermelon/Red, Brown/Red with Chartreuse Tails or Off-Shad colors....don't forget about blades at sunset...

Water Temp: 76-78
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Fished from 4:30 until 9:30pm and caught a bunch of fish. The biggest was a 4+ spot. Started out on main lake south of Barret's and worked our way towards McClure Point. We then moved into Cottonwood and finished out the night at McClure Point. Caught them from the bank out to 30'. Dropshot, Darthead, Jigs, Spinnerbaits, Topwater.
The most consistent bite was the jig. There is no question when you get a bite. The days of the light pressure bite are over. They just about ripped the rod out of your hands when they hit. Dark colors (browns and greens) were the ticket.
City: AtwaterTips: Get out to McClure and go fishing. We caught fish at every spot we hit. Now is the time. We noticed alot of garbage on the shorelines and floating plastic bottles. McClure is such a great fishery, we can't let it get trashed. I now have my net out and I gather every piece of trash I come across for proper disposal. I challenge all of you to do the same. Check out the great new fishing section at Snelling 76 on your way to McClure.

Water Temp: 75 Degrees
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fished from 8:00 P.M. until 2:00 A.M...caught about 20-24 fish, average size 2 Pounds. The best rig was Black/Red Flake Senkos hooked wacky style. Fished the point near the McClure Point Dock, and all of Ski Cove. Also caught a couple of decent fish on Topwater....Lots of fish jumping, (and lots of Carp!!!)
City: Merced CATips: Throw anything black at night, if the moon is out..I like red flake...if it's dark..then plain black...the lake seems to be better in the afternoon/evening than in the morning....I think the water becomes stained, and gives the fish cover...whereas the lake on the south end is crystal clear in the morning..just my opinion. Seems that the slot limit is making the average catch a little bigger each year.
