Report: Cool mornings, fishing picked up as it warmed up. Had very little luck fishing rocky faces, bites from coho salmon mostly. Finally fished back of coves and my nephew caught the biggest spot at 15 1/2 inches. I caught and released a 17 1/2 largemouth at the base of a small waterfall.
    City: Yuba City

Tips: Fished 5" Yamamoto grubs and had best luck with purple metal flake and pumpkinseed too. Fish back of coves with incoming water.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Cold front slowed thing a bit but not too dramatically. Boated about 25 fish with 4 over the slot. Best time of year to make a friend or kid become a "Bassaholic"!!
    City: Oroville

Tips: Rocky outcropping most productive. Fish caught on rip baits, senkos, tubes, flukes, drop shot prism worms and even a couple on topwater baits. Looking forward to the next warming trend.

Report: Went out wednesday to enterprize boat lanch with the outlaw and the jitterbug. It was around 5:00pm. jitterbug said it was one of the best fish days of the year according to the calendar, so i couldn't sleep through that. Well got down there decided to got with the grn flake baby brush hog since there was all kinds of vegetation stained water and little windy. There was a slight trickle of run off in the corner. The water level was perfect for that long flat straight down from the boat lanch. Anyways first cast got a bite missed the hook set without lipping the fish. Threw a couple more cast in same spot and nothing. So moved over to right corner all kinds of wood stacked up in there. Got a tap then a real solid pull. Did a micheal jordan pump fake on setting the hook thought i blew it. So i let it drop then jigged it once then a hard pull running with it bam easy money. Got her away from the wood she jump once trying to spit the hook out no dice. Nice 18"1/2 large mouth. Took a picture threw her back. Caught 7 fish total 5 under and 1 14"er which ran with it on the drop. Fish really active. Well jitterbug ended up catching one fish which made him content. Guess then calendars are right time to time.

Report: It's on baby. Finally fished a lake that was wide open. Tubes worms jigs oh my. Color not so important today. the color would change in an hour. 2.7 spot was my biggest. Mike D and I had maybe 12 lbs best 5. Caught 10 over slot. Middle fork was the best. Just fun fishin. Dart heads 1/8 tp 1/4 depending on the wind.
    City: orangevale

Tips: Fish were 5 to 15 feet deep. dart head, drop shot split shot jigs. Fish slow but not dead stick, some would hit and let go just to hit you half way back to the boat? Watermelon was best color. bubble gum 4 inch worms too? Bidwell was closed to launching. Oroville outdoors didn't know that?
Spillway lower ramp about 50 foot walk to parking lot. Just right. Good fishin.

Report: It is off the chart fishing once again. Three days produced 300 to 400 spots - not our best year but excellent nevertheless. Some largies and smallmouth too with a bonus salmon caught on a tube bait. Second day was impressive as we caught roughly 50 over the slot with one hitting 20". It was hard to believe the size we were catching that day. Back end of one wind blown cove produced roughly 18 spots in about 45 minutes. Wide open - everything works. Would like to go right back up again and do it all over.
    City: Oroville

Tips: Plastic of just about any type, topwater, spinnerbait, crank bait... Did I leave anything out. Great lake - great fishing.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Yesterday my son and I fished the Anglers Choice Team tournament here at Oroville with a shot at qualifing for the fish-off at Clearlake later this year. Pretty sure we made it but now for the report. Fishing is off the wall. Now is the time to take your kids out there. As of this report the lake is rising at a 2' average per day and stands at 794 and change. Lots of debris so watch for that. The spawn is on but at the rate the rate the lake is rising I doubt many would have a chance of picking off a really large fish. The big fish in this tournament was just over 4 pounds. I can't remember catching so many largemouth which is really exciting for this lake. Now on May 15 the Yuba City Bass Busters will hold their spring tournament with launch from the dam and a $80.00 buy-in and $10.00 big fish option. Number to call 530-741-8198. Should be a good one. Also starting this week on Tuesday nite from the dam, a one fish $12.00 buy-in tournament. More info on this, contact Oroville outdoors. Also starting Thursday this week from Lime Saddle a one fish (longest) $10.00 buy-in. Starts at 5.15p.m. and fishes till around 8:30. These fun tournaments usually run all summer till we run out of light in the evening.
    City: Paradise

Tips: For this tournament we didn't experiment much and used senkos almost all the time, but hula grubs and worms on eighth ounce dart heads work well too. Remember to shake the dickens out of the bait in still water for best results. And please, if your a fish eater, put those largemouth back regardless of size. Its only going to make this lake better down the road.

Report: Me and two friends enjoyed the fishing on Oroville Lake. During the afternoon the winds kicked up. I caught a good size trout and two bass. The bass were on the smaller size, but they were fun catching. They were all released to be enjoyed caught on another day.

Tips: I caught them all on soft plastic bait. I tried crank and spinner baits, but no luck with those.

Report: Well if you didn't fish the tournament at Oroville Saturday you missed a good one. Hats off to the Chico Conservation Bass Club for drawing 90 boats for a perfect day of fishing. Year in and year out they do everything to make their event just perfect. Just over 13 pounds was good enough to win it with big fish at just over 4 and a half pounds. I think everybody caught fish, enjoyed the food and the raffle.
    City: Paradise

Tips: I heard the word senkos a lot but topwater was also mentioned along with worms. Just get out there and enjoy it before they pull the plug.

    Water Temp: 58-61

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: I had a great time fishing my first bass tournament with good friend Bob Buckner on Saturday. I was glad to be on the water early to take in the scene of all the boats launching and staging in the early morning light. After blast off, all my nerves dissapeared and it was all about fishing. Bob quickly put two decent fish in the well working topwater on main points. We filled our limit working shakey heads and wacky rigged senkos shortly thereafter. We culled a few fish in the main body, then decided to look for bigger fish in the South and Middle forks. The wind kicked up, however, and we ended the day just over 9 lbs. The Chico Conservation Bass Club did a great job and everyone was enjoying the day. Congratulations to them and all the winning anglers on a great day.
    City: Paradise

Tips: If you have never fished a tournament before, get there early. Not only is it fun to watch the boats arrive in force, it will ease your nerves being on the water and ready to go. Also, lots of different boats run in this event. I fished from a big jet boat and saw all types of boats both big and small having a great time.

Report: Would like to mention the Chico Conservation Bass Club tournament this Saturday. Launching from the dam, 80 bucks includes big fish, food and raffle. You can sign up that morning if you haven't already. And you don't need a full blown bass boat to fish this. But you need to keep the fish alive so a livewell of some sort. Also want to mention the flyer for the Yuba City Bass Busters tournament is available at Oroville Outdoors. Its another really fun tournament.
    City: Paradise

Tips: Shouldn't have much trouble catching a limit. The waters 126' from the top as of today. Just throw the stuff you have confidence in and you do just fine. Lots of debris so watch for that.

    Water Temp: 51-53

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: The numbers were low for this time of the year. Three of us in the boat caught 30 fish in 7 hours. The quality was nice. All but 4 fish were between 2-3 lbs. The ususal techniques of split shot, darter head and drop shot close to the bottom worked.

Tips: Fish slow and put the bait right in front of their nose. The bites were light ticks or we felt weight. The wind picked up around 11:30 - 12 noon and made fishing slow even harder. Plastic color did not matter.

Report: Rich and I were tired of catching "all" those fish at CFW, so we decided to head up to Oroville for a real challenge....we found it. The fish cooperated for the most part. Landed 15 total, missed at least that many for sure. The bite just died when the wind stopped at about 5:30pm so we headed out at that point
    City: plumas lake

Tips: Worms and jigs, no reaction for us. Did have quite a few followers back up to the boat though, maybe here soon some reaction could pick up. I had quite a few hit my jig when I was pulling it up from the bottom, finally I got that figured out and started to land those fish as well. Good Luck.

    Water Temp: 49-55

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I've been out several times a week but not reporting my trips. Catches have been in the 20-35+ per day and the bite has been slow and soft as is typical for transitional bass. This week however, the move to the bank has been exciting. The full moon has started the spawn and the bass are from 1 to 10 ft. down to 20ft. The lake is rising from 1/2ft. to 1ft. per day. This is a lot better than last year when it rose several feet per day. The useuals are working for your bites. Ripbaits on points and walls early, tubes, senkos, worms (darthead, texas, drop shot) jigs and creature baits are all working.
    City: Paradise

Tips: A lot of the bites are so soft, keep in mind a sponge bite and line weight and line movement.
