Report: Hello, i work for Shadow Cliffs. We aim to please our fishermen. Please post up what you would like to see improved or changed.

We already know about the water levels and the weeds. We can not raise the water levels, due to a water shortage with zone 7 and cemex. They will not pump as much water as usual, or at all. leaving the lake and arroyo dryer then usual. If the conditions persist, the arroyo will be DRY next year.
    City: Pleasanton

Tips: Please flag a ranger down and talk to them, or stop at the kiosk and get the number for Tamie Andrews.

Report: I had my fishfinder on my tube ready to go, so I started out in Island Pond offshore. No structure whats-so-ever and the whole middle area of the pond averages from 18-22ft, and it is flat, no rock piles or trees. So no luck with the deep crankbait. I started seeing fish on top so I threw a spook, and about 10 feet from my tube a 3-4lber. hit-and-missed my spook. My buddy missed three on the frog. I then threw out the dropshot and nabbed a 2lber. off a submerged tree near the shoreline. Afterwards, we headed to the main lake to look for more structure. Well same story and I found no offshore structure in the northern half of the lake.

Tips: I haven't found any structure offshore YET, but there has to be a rock pile or two somewhere out there, heck it used to be a rock quarry.

    City: pleasanton

Tips: sorry guys for upsetting you, I'll tell you I'm using a frog, but I won't tell you where at. Shadow Cliffs (especially the back ponds) are just too small to tell

Report: I have been fishing the back ponds for years and it amazes me that you have frequently been pulling out fish over 5 pounds. Are you using a scale or estimating those weights? I find that hard to belive that despite the fishing conditions sucking more and more every year you can still pull out fish that size. Why dont you take a camera out and put some of those big fish on the site for us to see. I don't doubt that there are fish that size back there(I have seen several fish over 10#) I have caught several fish weighing 4# and one around 6 but come on man 5-7# range? I will belive it when I see it. Make sure that the the lake can be identified in the background too.

Report: After hearing all the bad reports about the island pond, decided to head out to try my luck. Actually I did okay comparing to the previous reports. I got total of 3 with the biggest around 4lb. rest were 1 and 2lb. All on long leader drop shot. I had 2 pop ups on frog today but no taker. Anyways, its really getting tough now. I used to average 6 to 10 fish a trip. Right now I'll be happy with 5 fish.

Report: This is what happens when people don't practice catch and release. Up until three years ago, the fishing was very good at Shadow Cliffs, particularly in the arroyo and the island pond. But these are not huge bodies of water. The bass population is only so big. Back in 2005 and 2006, I ran into several "regulars" here who kept their fish. And these were pretty good fisherman. On several occasions, I saw them with stringers attached to their tubes with ten dead bass. What do they think will happen to the fishing if they keep doing this? We are seeing the results at Shadow Cliffs now. This place is a shadow of it's former self (sorry for the pun).

Report: What the hell happened to the Island pond? The weeds are so thick there is no use in even going back there. Its the worst I have ever seen it. Weeds are so thick carp are stuck on top of the water. I made a call to the park district they really need to do something. Besides that great report the Arroyo is not much better. Less weeds but the fishing is slow. Good Luck Out There.

Report: Yo Ben, wells, Shadow Cliff now its much worse than before but still able to find some good size fish. I lost a huge fish just about two weeks ago on the Jig that looks like double digit. Anyways, mainly I have fish across the side from the Arroyo Pond, its been producing some fish there under neath the trees. Jig i use natural color like watermelon or cinnamon. flip into the trees and let it sit there. Drop shot would work from the side where u start the tube..go toward right fish along the weed line. Senko works out good as well but you need to have patience to toss your senko.

Tips: I am on the green tube caddis and asian guy. maybe i will see you around in the water. Good luck..keep posting some review

Report: Fished Sunday morning for short 2 and half hr in the morning. Started drop shop can not get a bite. Switch to Jig and fish across side hoping to get that Hog again. No chance to see the big one again but I caught 4 total with the biggest one close to 3lb. Pitch in the jig under the trees and dead sticking in there. They will hit it as soon as it gets there. Use heavy line because you need to pull the fish out hard.
    City: Fremont

Tips: Jig with some attractant so the fish won't let go. trust me it does make difference. And u get a better time to hook. How's the island pond? anybody have any idea? Frog bite on yet?

Report: Just got back from Taiwan. Jet Lagging this morning so decided to head out. Tube out the Arroyo pond and I did alright. caught 4 between 1.5lb to 2lb. Something really sad happened to me, I hooked a huge bass on a jig, I had it on for 5 minutes, it was coming in and out and fish was flopping everywhere. On the 4th jump, my jig went off its mouth. I was so mad because that looks like a double digit fish to me and could be the biggest one i ever caught from shadow cliff back pond. Damn, hopefully I can catch that one again, give me one more chance to bring it in.
    City: Fremont

Tips: Its good to be back in the water. Trying the island pond tomorrow hopefully I can get some goos size bass. Folks, please catch and release. thanks

    Water Temp: ???

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Fished the hidden back lake attached to Arroyo in a tube on Sunday. Was out there for about 3 hours from 7 am to 10 am. Caught a nice 4.5 lber within the first 30 minutes on a watermelon senko with big red and green flake. Switched to a frog about 30 minutes later and was just getting hammered by fish. Caught 2 2 lbers and missed 5 more bites. With both presentations was throwing as deep into cover on the shores as possible. Fish are not sitting on the edges of cover, but way back in the weeds/trees/bushes. You'll get hung up a few times, but you'll catch fish.
