    Report: Pre-ished or a club tourney Sunday. Hit my spot about 7 am. The bank I wanted to ishwas just getting sun on it but I tried ripping or about 30 minutes with no luck. Move over to theshady side and ripped 4 keepers at 4 dierent places in the next 45 minutes. All in the shade. Useda suspending Rogue in clown color. Fish were hitting it on the pause. Switched to worms using a1/8 oz dart head and got several more keepers. Fish hit it either on the all or just as it got tothe bottom. Continued to try ripping but the ish didn't seem to want it ater about 9 am. Lotswould come up to look at it, but none would hit.

    Tips: Use a rip, pause, rip, pause, rip rip presentation. The ish would hit it during one o thepauses. Hold on!

    Report: Fished Shasta or the irst time ever Sunday - Wednesday. Started out with the tips Irecieved via this web page, thanks! Caught over 70 ish in 3 1/2 days. Biggest 2.8# smallie, mostin 1.5 to 2.3# range and mostly spots. Several ish coughed up crawdads in livewell. I ishedsecondary points in Pit and Squaw with chunk rocks preerable darker rocks, caught ish on everybank like that. The creeks coming into the lake were raging, clouding up the water near them butthe irst point away rom the creek with clear water held lotsa ish, generally the biggest ish orus. Also the North side o both arms overall had the most ish by ar. Bite was very light onrubber, set on every hesitation on line, you won't regret it!!!!! Love those 1 - 2# spots theyought like crazy on my light spinning gear with 6 # test. Thanks or the tips to all o you thathelped me, wish I could ish that lake in a ew weeks when water warms up, WOW!!

    Tips: First light to 7:30 and last hour 1/2 o daylight - white spinner with chart. grub trailer, TDMinnow, white Norman crankbaits.Mid-day - 1/16 darter head with white Fin-S (4 in. with 3/4 in. cut o head) or clear sluggo withsilver/black lake (same size) 3 in. sluggo too skinny not as many strikes, 4 in. a little beeier.Also oxblood craw with green lake same darter head.

    Report: Well olks (especially "Dinkmaster"),ished the great Lake Shasta or three days this pastweekend. Stayed in the Pit, and main Lake on riday,ishing walls and points. The ish seemed to bein 22-30'. We caught 35 ish (all spots) shaking worms on darter heads. Color is not important. Justpick a bank and start ishing. On Sat. ished my club tourney. The ish were shallow or the irsthour. We got them with the TD minno and cranking deep diving cranks. I also nailed a 3.50 on a brownjig.( which incidently did not get the big ish money)Most o us stayed in the Pit.More ish werecaught cranking deep.The majority o us got them on plastics.Fished 1/2 day yesterday.Launched outo Packers.A cold rain came down on us all day,which dropped the water temp three degrees. Jigs andcarolina rigged lizards and brush hogs produced well .Big ish or our tourney came in 2' o wateron a wind blown point in the Pit,throwing a jig.(4.65 lb.) The ish are still in pre-spawn mode!.I they could get a week o nice weather, it could bust wide open a Shasta!!!!!!!!

    Report: I am rom the state o Wa. and intend to visit Shastathis May. I may be looking or ino on lake later..However, I understand that Shasta and my home lake O Chelan have somesimilarity. They both are high elavation impounds and have very clear water.Chelan can have clarity to 25 t. My lake holds primarily smallmouth. We are presently experiencing a very lowwater level. All o the preerred shoreline cover is exposed. I have neverished the lake at this low levels beore. Ater seeing the Bassmasster event onShasta last all and saw the low water conditions and I wondered, aterdiscovering this webpage, i someone amilair with early spring low waterconditions such as Shasta may have some hints and ideas how to ish a lake likemine. Please, anyone advise..!!!!

    Report: Fished the Mc Cloud, Squaw, and Pit arms. Had some success in each armusing sot plastics, and Rogues. Fished the steep shale clis and the Red Clayareas. Most o the ish we caught were in the 18-25t area. Quite a bit o preishing going on or the ABA event coming up. Caught and average o 10 per day(all Spotted) with the largest coming in at about 2lbs 4oz. Some guys "claimed"they caught over 50 in one day and to me that is really stretching it! Theconditions were tough and I mean tough. Cold, cloudy, and a threat o rain orthe whole time we ished! The Sun tried to come out in the aternoon and onlystayed or a short time.

    Tips: We used the Smithwick Rogues early in the morning then switched to sotplastics around 7am. Had the most success with a newcomer called "Daddy's Worms"in the 6" Purple Illusion Scorpion pattern the 4" Finesse model in a GreenWeenie with Red Sparkle pattern. Dragging and Shaking were the most errectivemethods o presentation. We ished slow, slow, slow!

    Report: Most bass were caught in thge 24' range, shakein light colored 4" and 6"worms and 1/2 oz smallie jig with #1 blue & black pork. Most bass were settingon the north sides o main and secondary points. However Hawg Hunter picked upa nice 3+ spot pulling a worm away rom an incoming stream in the midle o acove. Fished the main body, Sacramento and McCloud Arms and ound ish at eachspot we stopped.

    Report: Fished main body points on the Pit arm near the mouth o the McCloud. The graph showed the ish stacked on points and not along the banks or in thecoves. Caught quite a ew in the 14" range using a texas rigged 6" morning dawnworm. Fish were in 20-25' o water scattered on either side o the points. Thebite was airly sot with either just weight on or a very slight tick. The 14"ish were airly chunky considering it being late winter.

    Tips: Fish slow. Drag the worm and stop it. I you were moving it too ast,the ish wouldn't hit it.

    Report: Fished on Saturday 2-27-99, caught 18 largest 15" smallest 13". All theish were hooked on a 4" blue ghost about 20-40 eet deep o o main points.

    Report: Fished Shasta on Thursday & Friday, caught lot o ish around Skiers Island. Most ish were o points. They ranged rom 1-2lbs. No big ones.

    Tips: Shake an earth colored worm on a darter head in 20-50'. There was a lite bite so eel or a little extra weight on the line and set the hook. It didn't seem to matter i we used a 6 or 3" worm both worked well. Good luck and have un.

    Report: Fished Thursday 18th rom 1300 Hrs on, caught 20+ spotties, 12"-16". Friday, ished until 1100 hrs and caught another 20+. Fished a brown jig or brown tube bait in 30' o water. Pit River arm, in the trees. Super slow retreive, almost so slow you don't retreive it at all. I I can catch them anyone can. Shasta Lakers, post your reports, lets talk it up. They will bite all day long. BassAckwards.

    Tips: Brown or pumpkin tube, worm or jig. SLOW retreive. You can barely eel them pick it up, rip them lips.

    Report: Fishing was great. Main lake points and points in the mouths o the arms are loaded. We caught at least a hundred ish a day on jigs ( my design) with M.G.M. plastic trailers. The ish came in 15-30' and ranged rom 1.5 to 4 lbs.

    Report: Fishing was great but the ish size range was 13-16insmy partner Bill and i used oxblood and morning dawn worms in 15 to 50 eet o water on darter heads try ishing wood we saw alot o guys ishing points and we were in the trees and kicking some bass well good luck...

    Report: Shasta is red hot!! Bass are runnibg rom 13" to 16". The ish are down rom 15' to to 25'. Use Red or Green plastic worms. Some spinnerbait in the A.M. beor the sun hits the water. Work your bait vary slow. The Trout are going wild. They are on the top down to 20 eet. Use anything that looks like a Shad. Suggest a Kastmaster, U.F.O. Lures in white or silver, small spoones.

    Report: Bass are hot mostly small but with some 3-4 lbs.+. the Bass are at all depths. Shad are all over the lake. the trout are all over the lake rom the top down 20 eet. the average ish is 16" to 24". A ew Browns are showing. Troll any area on the main body where you see the shad. (upper Squaw Creek, Jones Valley Cove and Ski Island)

    Tips: For Bass use Spook's on top, cranks and rips part way down and worm down deep. For trout Cripplers in gold pattern, Humdinger's in white, red or silver. Any shad imitation lure in silver will work. For the Brown use Rapalas, Castmasters.

    Report: Got on Shasta around 7am. Headed straight to the pit arm. Found ish in 35-350 eet, o main points. Spooned long and hard or about one hour beore I ound ish. Caught six keepers beore 9:30 am. Largest one around 1 and 1/2 lbs. All keepers wre caught on perk minnow, didn't matter what color, however, the 1 ounce worked best. I also ished carolina rigged six inch worms #39 green craw. Caught only one keeper on it. However, caught around 6 ish total on it. I let the lake at around noon. My ive best ish weighed was around 6 lbs.

    Report: The Bass are hitting good. But small ish to 1.5lbs. They are rom the top to 30 eet deep. Use a worm, blood, brown or pink. For top water when there is a cloud cover use top water lures, a spoon that looks like a shad or spinnerbaits.

    Report: Club tourney on 11/15/98 with 29 members ishing. Started o throwing a 1/2 oz. spinnerbait right on the bank and burning it back. Picked up 4 keepers beore 8am doing this. Switched to shaking a worm in 20-25' o water and picked up 2 more keppers beore 9am. The spinnerbait bite died around10 am and the worm ish moved deeper during the day. Finished the day shaking a worm in 50' o water and caught keepers until 3:30 this way. Mostly small keepers. My ive ish limit only weigh 6.72# but was good enough or 5th place.TIPSShake, shake, shake those worms. Let them sit in place and slow pick up the slack to see i there is any weight on. I any resistance, set the hook. The ish this day never gave a tap,tap,tap to indicate a bite. All the ones I caught were just on.

    Report: Bass ishing is good, but small, 1.5lbs. 2 lbs. is a lunker. The bass are starting to move up in the depth about 35 eet. Hitting rom the shore to deep. The shad are all over the lake so use anything that looks like a shad. Worming is alsogood use blood or brown worm. Trout is the best in months, average ish 16" to 24".     Report: It's miserable on the lake the last ew days. But the ishing is good. The bass are still deep 35 to 70 eet down, the trout are on the top to 20 eet down. The bass isherman say the lake has not turned, but the trout isherman sya it has. I say wait or a week and then look out, the bass will be the thing. Catching a lot o bass but small under 1.5 lns. Some action in the shallows, but don't depend on that. Go deep under the shad balls, the bass are there.
