Report: Fished a club tournament today. TOUGH DAY. With a 4 fish limit rule, winner of 8 pound only. Fish are lock jaw, with only a small window of oppurtunity to catch fish through the day. I caught 2 fish only. Fished deep and shallow. Caught 1st fish about 9 AM, with brass/glass, green pumpkin/red flakes Zoom Brush Hog. Fish was caught in less that 10 feet of water, on wood. Second fish was on green pumpking jig with a green pumpkin/watermelon Yo Momma trailer. Same area. Drop shot was actually inactive!!! 1st place caught fish in the same areas with a ghost minnow LC Staysee...
    City: Fremont

Tips: Fish slow, but cover as much water as you can. Fish are not deep yet are in 10-20 feet of water with wood...good luck and tight lines...

Report: Hey Diehard- the Vixen is more like a spook than a pop-r. It really let loose raining up here. Just when daylight savings time gives me my pre work daylight back- Mother Nature decides it's time to start filling up the lakes again. Oh yeah- another lure I like a lot as far as a chugger or pop-r type is a Chug Bug made by Storm lure company. Actually caught a few nice bass out of Sonoma on one and even caught a really mad spawning bluegill about 10" long one spring. Almost busted the lure in half on the strike! Enjoy that California weather- I miss bass fishing on Thanksgiving morning!

Report: Fished club tournament Sat. Got my first fish (about 4.4) at around 11:30 in about 25-30 feet on a brush hog. Got second one the same way/rig about 4 hours later. Got no bites fishing anything else (tried a lot of cranking 10-20 feet and a bit of drop shotting; nothing really). I noticed later on when washing out the livewells that there was a bit of (bright red) crawfish bits puked up in there, so apparently they're at least feeding somewhat actively on crawfish, yet somewhat deeper. Not surprising----consider what a warm/dry summer it's been. Fish weary of persistently shallower-lower-water-levels/warmer/less oxygenated, perhaps, so they're found deeper, at least the chunkier ones. Both fish came at around 25 to 30 feet on crawdad style bait, and as noted evidence of the real thing in their bellies.
    City: San Rafael

Tips: If I went back, I'd (oh so patiently) drag similar baits at/on/near the bottom at similar depths, or crank REAL deep runners in crawdad/bright red colors(?)----that is, assuming similar weather conditions for the next week or so.

Report: Tried to sneek in before the rainy weather hit the lake. Went with John and had a good time, great company and fishing instead of working. Only manager two fish, I got one on a spook, Dry Creek and John got a nice pond fish on a dropshot an hour later. Tried Yorty after that no takers. John earned some "Carma" points by giving a ride to 6 stranded boaters back to the ramp and we still only got 2 fish all day.

Tips: Try catfishing? Dude in a Whaler had a 15# and shortly there after we heard hooting and hollering figured he got another .... saw him later at the ramp. He got what appears to have been about a 25 pounder to add to the 15 pounder. The cats looked like something off the noodling show on OLN.

Report: We got on the water early, around 6am, and headed way up north to the back of the Dry Creek arm. There is a ton of grass back there with a nice deep channel running right through it. We caught 3 fish in the first hour, a 3.5 on a black buzzbait, a 4.3 on a Vixen, and another 3.5 on a Lunker Punker Jr. After that, the fish shut off. It seems that as soon as the sun gets on the water, the bass start to suspend and chase bait way off the bank. We got off the water around 3pm, and did manage to catch a couple more dinks on worms.

Report: Hank and I got on the water at around 5pm. We started off throwing swimbaits and topwater out on the main body, but had no luck. Desperate to get bit, we tossed out drop shots and dart head worms, but still no takers. We then took a bit of a gamble and made the long run to the back of the Warm Springs arm. Arriving just before dark, I tied my top water Vixen back on. There was only 45 minutes of daylight remaining so I put my trolling motor on 70 to cover as much water as possible. We caught 4 fish before it got dark, including a nice 5.3. I was working the Vixen slow along a steep wall, when the big fish came up and slurped it from the surface, making hardly a ripple. After it got dark, we tied on jigs and caught another 8 fish to 3lbs. At 1am we called it a night.

Report: Arriving at around 11am, we start out by bouncing around the main body fishing points with rock and wood. After fishing the first few spots with only a couple short strikes, Perry Jr. catches a small mouth and a 2.5 pound largemouth on a drop shot. I then miss a nice 5 or 6 pounder on a top water Vixen. The big fish was sitting in a tree positioned on the tip of a main lake point. I find another similar looking area, and catch a 5.9 on a Lunker Punker. We try fishing a few more spots, but come up empty handed. I think with the full moon, the majority of the bass are feeding at night and early in the morning. In the middle of the day the fish seem to be out in the middle chasing bait.

Report: Waking up at 5:30, I jump out of my tent and climb in my boat. The boat in campsites at the back of Warm Springs are quite nice. I highly recommend checking it out. With the sun still below the horizon, I start covering water with a Lunker Punker. About 15 minutes into the morning, I get crushed by a 6.4 pounder. I then caught a few more fish on the vixen. At around 7am the fish made a big move from the banks to the open water. I would see the bass busting bait on the surface. Whenever this happened I put my trolling motor on high, and would fire out either a popper or a vixen. In the next hour I caught 5 more up to 3 pounds, all suspended fish that were chasing bait. At around 10 am the bite shut off. I picked up my friends at camp and we headed out to the main body. After catching only a few small fish on jigs and worms in 25 feet, we call it a day at around 3pm.

Report: Heading out at 10 am with a boat load of camping gear and a couple friends, I tie an assortment of top water lures, and plastics as we idle across the long 5mph zone that leaves the ramp. Before crossing the 5mph buoys, we decide to fish the long main lake point across from the marina. On my 3rd cast with a Reaction Innovations Vixen I get crushed by a 6 or 7 pounder right at the boat. Unfortunately, after only a few second fight, the fish comes unbuttoned. The next two hours we run around and fish every other point in the area, but come up empty handed. We then set up camp at the back of the Warm Springs arm and head back out at around 3pm. I was surprised to see how must red leaf grass there was back there. We caught a few 2 pounders on frogs, and a 4.5 pounder in 30 feet of water on a jig. The fish seemed very scattered and I was seeing bait fish from the surface down to 40 feet on my graph. We then caught a few more 1-3 pounders on drop shots and jigs. Right before dark, I was expecting to get on a decent top water bite, but it never happened.
