Report: I knew better, I should have stayed home, in at jones valley at 0530 with 40 rigs already in the upper lot, no parking let down by the ramp, its all uder water, ran up to Blue CAnyon looking or some riends and ound them, starting throwing a rip bait or 2 dinks on the way back in and caught another on a jig behind their houseboat, Steve and Carol got up and we ran up near Arbuckle when we came up on some big stu loating midchannel between Sugarpine and Arbuckle, ished around there or a bit or 2 more dinks and went back downstream and started running into all sorts o boats coming up the pit including 3 jet skis, air temp at 54 and saw some ski boats also. We talk it over and decide to move so Steve and I run over into the McCloud and look over the area o Greens Creek and decide on a place. I run him back and drop him o and decide to get o the water, go into Jones Valley and the idiots have shown up. You know, the ones that can't get a boat into or out o the water. Climb the hill to get my truck and get back down and manage to get my boat out as one citizen center punches the loat with his ski boat and removes a big hunk o iberglass, talked to Rex rom CDF who tells me that the houseboat companies have more rentals going out with the college kis starting mothers day than last year, it wil continue through memorial day. First time I have seen olks skiing and jet skiing in March. Won't be long and I will be ishing at night.

Berryessa Lake
-
Water Temp: 53-59
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: On the 30th of March I guided a father and son (Nick) on Berryessa, started out one the front of Wraggs Canyon and teach'in the technique of Rippin to Nick, Nick fell right into the rythem of Rippin putting two fish in the livewell. Went into Gains Canyon and spent some time in there with only 1 smallmouth comin by rippin. Headed North around 10nish, spent the rest of the day there with founding the fish shallow. Caught fish rippin and with senko's from 3-7ft of water. No fish were caught after 2PM per say. The lake is still unstable, but what the weather look's like, it is promising for a good spawn.
City: Castro ValleyTips: Rippin right know seems to be your best producing technique. Water color can very depending on location that you fish. I'd recommend rippin first and then going deeper with worm's in brown's, split-shottin slow... Shallow fish in less than 4ft throw senko's especially on the east side of the lake. The lake overall still hasn't turn wide open, but can at any given time.

Water Temp: 64
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: John and I took out our riend and sponsor Russ rom Fishin' Depot. out or what we hoped would be a great bass-striper combo trip. We went up to a couple o places in Whites where we have been on a good bite or quite some time and immediateley got on ish. We were throwing rips and lipless cranks and proceeded to nail 15 striper to 11 pounds and a dozen bass or so to 8'11 by noon. I was shocked when the big bass came up thrashing with my rip bait in it's mouth, because I thought or sure it would be a striper. I must admit that we did get some nice bass on a Senko as well. Around 1 we headed to Mildred and stuck some good bass up to 5 1/2 pounds on plastics. We inished up at three with our best 7 going 32+. God bless the delta.
City: rosevilleTips: One o those days you wish you were in a tournament. Fish were caught in all dierent depths which is typical or the delta this time o year because the ish are all in dierent stages. p.s. I you're looking or the best selection o Yamamoto baits, then you really need to check out the Fishin' Depot in Granite Bay.

We had a great day and Cooch culled out everything I caught except the catish! We ended up with 33.8 or 7 ish and 2nd place. Congrats to Fred and partner on a great victory with 37# and a great 12 pounder! It was your day, no doubt!
City: MarysvilleTips: Fish a little deeper, keep the bait active and moving.

My ish came on a rattle trap-senko-speed trap-and ZIPPER WORMS AND IN-LINE FINESSE JIGS. We had 3 and 4lbs. all morning, about mid morning Russell nailed his 8+lber and at 2:00 I cranked a 12+lber. Report: Wie, son, & I ished the 28th semi-annual Badge Packers out o Fleming Meadows. Fished coves in Middle Bay all day. Wie boated our 1st keeper at 7:30 am split shotting a 6" Green Craw curly tail worm in about 15'o water. Averaged about a ish an hour until about noon when the bite picked up & we started catching one every 1/2 hour. Gradual sloping banks w/some grass & wood in the area were the best areas or us. I your into bed ishing they are there but we chose not to. Ended the day w/just under 12 lbs. or seven ish. When we let heavy bag was around 30 lbs. & big ish was 13 lbs. Our ish came split shotting 4-6" plastics in green craw, june bug, or purple ghost. No takers on spinner baits & a couple o good ish, 5+, came unbuttoned on a deep diving shad pattern crank.

Water Temp: ?
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Finally got some time on this water with my 5 year old son today. I hoped or some easy keepers he and I could drag worms or on a gorgeous spring day, and we got them, just not at the pace I anticipated. Doesn't take long or a 5 year old to lose ocus. We darterheaded and split-shot. My ocus has been on other lakes and maybe that's a mistake. A ew o my club buddies ruled the BFL tournament held here on March 23rd. They weighed in 14 and 15lb limits. A ew takeaways rom the day: The bass really aren't "up" yet- a ew signs o beds, and shallow water action slow in the north where I was. This lake is a popular, multi purpose recreational acility. Many boats o every type were out- including the lying type. Wonder i the bite was aected when a seaplane decorated with the AVP Flying Tiger scheme was doing touch and go's. Most exciting part o the day or my boy, however I'm sure or a bass it must have been thier worst nightmare. The biggest, loudest, astest bird o prey with the most menacing grill they had ever seen. Spawn or no spawn- these ish stayed down. Last take: Memo to poachers: get a lie. An angler went by us sitting low in the ront o a well-equiped aluminum. Camolage gear, sunglasses, looking ocused. I asked him i he'd spotted any beds, he replied "what do they look like?" He said he had been getting them on worms. He stopped and anchored a hundred yards away or so and began what looked like worming. He started nailing ish using nightcrawlers. I drited closer and witnessed all the bass going on a stringer hanging o the side. I got a little too close and the angler pulled anchor and sped o with a big bundle o bass in tow. Poached bass- Easter avorite or this loser.
City: El Dorado HillsTips: Fish deeper and avoid sunny, gorgeous spring days on weekends

Report: Ater the worst day on Salt Springs, one ish or three guys in seven hours,I put the boat on the trailer at 1:30 and head or Melones. We launched at Angels Cove ramp at 2:30 and the day quickly changed.Noticing that the aternoon winds had been creating mud lines prior to our arrival,we just headed or the irst one we could get to.Spinner bait ish on the irst cast. The bite was on.Proceeded down the bank and they keep coming.Keeper, keeper, then I throw to an isolated tree top behind the boat,4 pounder. Then my brothers put three more in the boat..Then I make a long cast next to a bush tight to the bank.Damn, a quater turn o the reel and a dead stop,a snag?..Well now my line starts moving quickly out o the mud line and I get a glimpse o what seems like a solid six.Now she really turns it on, eels like a all stiper. The big girl rips out twenty ive yards and then comes back ull speed under the boat and right or a tree.Screw this ish,I put my thumb on the spool and pray she dosen't brake me.Well luck was on my side and I turn her and we inally net her,she is a pig.I check my watch and its only 2:50,wow what a stretch o action. We head staight or the ramp, trailer the boat and take her to Glory Hole Sports..She weighs 10.40,ater some pics we return to the ramp at 3:30.She swims right o and we proceed to get right back on them.Great day!!!!
