Water Temp: 61
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Wie & I took 4 yr. old grandson out at 8 am to 12 pm. He got to reel in six average 12" to 14" largemouth & one 2 lb. Crappie. He couldn't reel in the 4 lb. largemouth so helped the wie net it. Hooked one other 5+ bass but it made a run into a nearby weed bed then shook the hook. 15 to 20 mph wind help scatter the algae bloom but made boat control a little tougher. All ish came split shotting plastics. No takers on spinner bait.
City: DelhiTips: Most ish appeared to be aggressive males either preparing beds or guarding them? Todays color o choice or majority o ish was june bug. 4" curly tails or small crawdad imitations.

Got home and read that a 54lber was caught near us that day. Oh-well!! Looks like we'll have to wait till the bait moves back into shore.

Report: HEY HAVE TO AGREE BASS SHOULDN'T BE FISHED WHILE BEDDING.I HAVE BASS FISHED FOR CLOSE TO 40 YEARS NOW AND PRACTICE CATCH AND RELEASE AND I AM AN AVID TOURNAMENT FISHERMAN AND BELIEVE THAT FISH SHOULD NOT BE FISHED WHILE BEDDING IN TOURNAMENTS OR OTHERWISE ESPECIALLY BY THE MEAT FISHERMAN. ALOT OF STUDIES HAVE BEEN DONE ON THIS AS FOR RETURNING TO BEDS OR HAVING BEDS RAIDED AND NONE WOULD SUPPORT BED FISHING BESIDES LOOK HOW EASY IT IS TO FISH BEDS DOES THAT REALLY TEST A ANGLERS SKILLS? I AM PLANNING A TRIP TO SHASTA IN MAY, FIRST TIME TO THE LAKE SEEMS NUMBERS ARE THERE BUT NOT MUCH FOR SIZE ANY INFO WOULD BE APPRECIATED

Report: Two Person Guide Trip, Cool and Windy all day. We ished the west Delta all day ishing weed lats with the early high tide. Using 5" Tubes, Blk & Brn Jigs we lipped sparse tules or some reason we all missed or lost our irst couple o ish, then scored a 2.5lb then a 3 and another 3.5 or about two hours we caught and released about 12 ish 2.5-4.5lbs most on tubes but had 3 good ones on a 1/2oz Assassinater. We then ran to check out some spawning areas and caught 6 more all good ones. We caught a ew on the Assassinater but most would miss it, then real quick ater the miss we would throw a Senko and wham got um. Ater that we caught some bed ish at low tide with a pink senko. Great day over 30 bass 5 over 4 and a bunch o 2.5-3.5lbersI seem to have ound quality ish but just can't ind the big bite and would mind a tip or two.
City: ConcordTips: The ish are shallow and starting to spawn, but this ront will most likley push them back. How bout a report rom Bobby or Dee?

Water Temp: ?
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Here's a report rom a riend o mine that ished Pillsbury rom shore or about 1 1/2 hours on Tuesday, 4/2/02:In any case, I rigged some rods with crawlers or the kids - not much action so the kids decided to paddle instead (the water was a bit too cold or ull-on swimming.) We were ishing rom the shore, o course. The wind had picked up so I put a larger sinker on a rod rigged with a crawler and cast a bit deeper. I let it sit or a while until I got a good bite - result was landing a nice 2 pound largemouth bass. (I weigh and measure every decent ish I catch on a little scale and tape measure I carry in my tackle box)Well, now I knew that not only were the bass biting but I was in a good spot (at least there was one ish there) - so I shited to my avorite lures - sot plastics. Then the action started!Within the next hour and a hal I landed another ive (5!) bass, every single one o them over three and a hal pounds! My best was a little over ive pounds, 23 inches in length. By ar the best ishing day I have ever had - and ishing had not been my main objective!I experimented with many o the sot plastics in my tackle box - seems like they were biting on almost anything I put on. Everything was Carolina-rigged - 3/4 ounce - I was casting into the wind so I needed something really heavy. Very rocky bottom - so distinguishing between bites and hook-ups was a little tricky. I got the astest bites (and a couple o misses) rom a salt impregnated pumpkin color twin-tail craw impersonator and a red and black 'Bass Assassin' Shad impersonator. I also caught ish on a 7" Power Worm and a Power Craw - both pumpkin colored.

Report: WELCOME TO THE CITY OF JONES VALLEY !!!!!WHAT WAS CDF, N.FOREST SERVICE,DFG. THINKING ?????THEY CUT ALL THE TREES AND CLEARED THEM OUT SO JOE PUBLIC COULD SLAUGHTER ALL THE LARGEMOUTHS ON BEDS. IN MY OPION I THINK IT IS CRIMINAL. MOST OF THEM ARE NOT WEREING FISHING LICENSES AND OTHERS PROBABLY DON'T HAVE THEM. THEN THEY LEAVE THERE STYROFOAM WORM CUPS ALL OVER. ONE GUY EVEN TELLS ME THAT IF I USE MINNOWS OR CRAWDADS ON THE BEDS I WOULD DO BETTER, I NUTTED UP A THAT POINT,AND YELLED SOME THINGS I PROBABLY SHOULDN'T HAVE. I PAY BBAC DUES HOPING TO IMPROVE THE LARGEMOUTH POPULATION ON SHASTA.THATS WHO I AM CONTACTING NEXT,I DON'T BLAME JOE PUBLIC THEY BOUGHT THERE LICENSE,THEY HAVE THE RIGHT TO FISH. I BLAME DFG FOR ALLOWING THEM TO BED FISH. 34 STATES HAVE RESTRICTIONS ON BED FISHING,SOME DON'T LET THE ANGLER USE BAIT UNTIL AFTER THE SPAWN SEASON IS COMPLETE,OTHERS PUT COMPLETE BAN ON BED FISHING, LESS THA 1% OF THE BASS IN SHASTA ARE LARGEMOUTH I THINK IT IS TIME TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT,IF WE DON'T MY GRANDCHILDREN AND YOURS WILL PROBABLY NEVER CATCH A LARGEMOUTH IN SHASTA,I HOPE DFG READS THIS I KNOW THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT THE NUMBER OF LICENSES THEY SELL,LONG TERM THIS WILL EFFECT THEM TOO. DFG GETS SOME BALLS YOU ARE A PART OF UNCLE SAM,I JUST HOPE IT'S NOT THE TURD. PRACTICE CATCH AND RELEASE MAYBE DFG WILL LEARN SOMETHING FROM IT....
City: REDDINGTips: CALL DFG AND COMPLAIN TO THEM IF WE ALL DO IT THEN THEY MIGHT SEND A WARDEN DOWN THERE TO CHECK LICENSES, AND LIMITS AND THE LOWEST OF THEM ALL JOE THE SNAGGER.

Report: Hit the lake at sae light and went to the honey hole on the North end. Bill Watson joined me in his own boat as I told him that I thought I could put him on ish. At 7:00 we weighed in our best 4 at 19 plus and I now have a photo o Bill with a six pounder in each hand. It was a good thing that we got there early because the breeze died about 8:00 and so did the bite. Bill caught his LM on Baby Brush Hogs while my smallies (to 3.86) came on darter head Pro Worms.
City: WeavervilleTips: I you're going to ish darter heads in the tailings take a lot o them with you.
