Report: Fished a local club T on 12/09/2000 and guess what? Yup, I won both irst place and big ish! It was a partly cloudy day with the water temp starting at 56 and ending up at 57 in the area I was ishing. There was no wind and just a little "sporadic" breeze came rom the north. Usually, this time o year has cooler "air" temps, but this time, it was warmer, still cool, but warmer when compared to year's past. I weighed in 2 ish or a total o 6.78 pounds and I threw back a 17 inch ish. One ish weighed 3.78 and the little one weighed in at 3 pounds even. I caught 3 keeper's all day plus I missed one. I ished the dam all day, doodling chocolate/neon blue 6 inch JB worms on a 3/16 ounce and 5/32 ounce brass and glass with the boat in 40 oot o water, casting out to the deep end and working the bait up to the boat. Just barely shake the bait and then let it sit. Work it real slow. The brass and glass was the ticket! That's the deal and hope this will help some olks out....Good luck!

Report: I ished Collins yesterday by mysel or about 3 hours beore dark. About 3:30, I got my irst bass, a 2 1/2 spot that hit a brown/orange Rodstrainer jig on a ledge. I ished my way up the river arm and didn't get bit! I came back to the area that I caught the irst one, and got another 2 lb spot on the same jig. Worked a little more up the west shore - nothing. Just beore dark, I decided to try an area that I really like, but has not been too good this year. Until now!! Still ishing the Rodstrainer jig, I stuck a 3 lb spot, and then, on the next cast, elt a heavy weight on the jig, and was into a decent ish. I was able to net a near 5 lb largemouth! I must have been excited, 'cause I missed the next three bites. This area is kind o an underwater lat which drops into deep water very quickly. A great 3 hours!
      City: Yuba City

Tips: I love jigs at Collins in the winter. You just have to work them a little aster than in other lakes because o the nasty rocks. Look or areas that eature quick dropos - and those can be hard to ind at Collins!

      Water Temp: cold

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Fished half day Saturday, Dec. 2nd out of the Hook. Pitched Senko in Barge cove for one good blackie of about 4 lbs. No other hits. Lots of boating and equipment activity back there may have put fish down. Ran to Frank's and started pitching brush hog as usual along one of my regular spots. No hits. Cranked shad colored rattletrap and red Norman's littl N, one hit, no fish. Started fishing cut out of Frank's slow cranking a red Norman's along weed edge, ticking weed tops in 8-9 feet of water on long casts, and had one of those hits where suddenly the line goes slack for a second, and then the rod gets a solid bow in it from a big fish turning on the bait and moving off. For about 5 seconds thought it might be a hog blackie, but then the drag started screaming as the fish headed for the main channel, and realized it was probably a striper (it was). Beautiful fish, maybe 15 lbs. The fight was awsome! (6.5 ft med action cranking rod with 12 lb test.) No more hits on crank, so ran to middle river, pitching Senko and cranking red Norman's. No hits after an hour or so. Noticed gulls diving nearby, so decided what the heck, and eased over to the birds, tied on a white hair raiser, hooked 7, landed 4 stripers from 4 to 6 lbs. Lots of fun. Called it a day after that.
      City: Half Moon Bay

Tips: Had a real tough day on the black bass, even though I fished hard. Sometimes you just gotta be an opportunist if you want to get your rod bent and line stretched!

      Water Temp: 54

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: went out o jones valley at 730am, air temp 37, over near the crows nest in the pit across rom Ski Island, dredged up one 13 incher out o 26t o water, most all are suspended, moved around a bit over by the ort creek coves and clickapudi, couldn't get anything else to bite, watched a riend work some stumps out in ront o clickapudi or about an hour, he didn't catch anything dropshotting worms, wind came up about 1030 but quit around noon, trout trollers are doing a brisk business moving up the uppper arms, guess the rainbows are going upstream to prepare or the spawn, water a bit murky ater the turnover has been completed, went home around 130pm, air temp 70 degrees. The earlier you get out the better you will do i you can handle the cold mornings. I sure do hate running through that mist in the AM!
      City: Redding

Tips: spooning is the up and coming way to stick some ish as they settle in or the winter, the wind will make dropshotting a problem but you can still catch some, I have been using a two hook rig with the lower about a oot and a hal o the bottom, the upper about three t o the bottom

Report: Fished for stripers and found the best bite for us was on the main river. Senkos and cranks caught there attention. Partner missed a steelhead that went crazy after he hooked it. It jumped several times and put on a show tossing the crank on the last jump. Caught the stripers up to 14.1#'s and many smaller fish as well. Waiting to meet my next goal of a 40#'er sinse I made the thirty pound mark last year. Keep on chuckin'.

Report: Went to Disco for Stripers sat morning. Water temp down from previous weeks, to 49', ouch!!Needless to say, the fishing was tough. Got two small keepers, not even worth keeping, spooning with the Duh. Lot's of bait still in all ther Bays. I didn't see many fish caught either. Went to buy shiners, and tried drifting those. Still no action. I was fishing one bay when Dee Thomas came puttin in with, I presume two clients. He stopped, spun around, all were spooning. His client hoooks up, and land a 3lb striper. He gopes a little further, stops, and the same thing happens.I thought I was decent at reading the graph and knowing what's going on down there, but he put us to shame. I wonder what he saw? Anyway, all of a sudden he's surrounded by ten boats. I had to leave, but did get a chuckle at all the attention he received.

Report: Started fishing for bass at around 1:00pm. I caught two fish using Senco worms, both fish were about a pound and a half.
      City: san jose

Tips: In spring I throw spinnerbaits, spider jigs, and lizards. In the summer, night fishing is best. Right now I would try spider jigs and senco worms fished past the weed lines.

Report: Took my 3 yr old son (Nick) out for a few hrs and fished the S. Delta again. I hooked fished and Nick got to real them in. We fished plastics in current on rocks and caught several keepers. I was shakin a baby brush hog in 10 ft of water and felt a tick. Set the hook and fish started to come up easily like the others and then it realized it was hooked. It stripped some line off the drag and then jumped. My son was getting excited (so was daddy) so I had to take control of the pole and fight him. Got him to the boat and lipped him, 5lb 12oz on the hand scale. Nice one! Cranked a few more fish. Total of 9 fish.

Tips: When fishin in cold water keep your plastics in the water and shake them on slack line in one place.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Caught many fish cranking today. Nothing more than two pounds. Most about a 1 3/4 or pound and a half. Testing Timber Tigers today, caught em on DC-8 in Red, and DC-5 in chart/green back. Also caught em on SU DC-13 in a shad pattern. Got one fish on a Blade Clacker Assasinator but it managed to hop off at the boat. Nothing for me on jigs. Fished for stripers with a 3/4 Hopkins and caught fish four to five pounds. Couldn't seem to get em on Rattletraps. I could hear some other guys catching em on Hair Raisers in the fog.
      City: Rio Vista

Tips: Crank a bit slower, fish weed clumps, they were scattered not packed in together. The fish were on the deeper parts of the grass clumps.
