Report: Fished the Hook Tournament Sunday. My partner and I turned left out of the runway and fished the West Delta all day. We caught about 12 bass in the first 15 minutes of the stationary tide, none after that until 2:00 and the turn around of high tide. Of the 12 only 4 would weigh in. We fished hard from 7:00 am to 2:00 pm with not a single bite. Had fish going in the areas, but couldn't get them to go. At 2:00 with the outgoing tide we started to stroke them again. Caught about 15 fish from 2:00 until weigh in. Culled 3 of the 4 morning fish in the afternoon. Finished 9th in the tournament with 15+ lbs. For us, had to be at the right place at the right tide. Time spent on the water is the only way
      City: pittsburg

Tips: Caught smaller fish with a Yamamoto twin tailed grub fished on a number 3 Yamamato series 59 Sugoi Hook. Our success came off a Speed Trap. They had to be fished in the heaviest weeds we could get them through. Fish would only hit them when a change of direction occured from ripping them out of the weeds. Shad colored pattern was used on both baits

Report: Fishing with a friend on Saturday morning. We spent better part of the morning throwing and shaking darter heads with purple ghost/salt and pepper 4 inch straight worms and caught two nice smallies (1.5 lb plus), and a spotted bass (over a pound). All well fed, one smally let go several minows as it was reeled in. We were targeting points and small rock banks at the top of the narrows, before reaching the main lake. Fish were caught at 20 plus feet, although we also spent some time exploring the shallows.

Report: BRRRRR wet and cold for the turkeyshoot, but I did manage many fish just couldn't locate big enough ones.Me ands my daughter Amber caught 20 + fish but none over 2-1/2 I caught some on 1/2 oz black and blue jigs (pork trailers) and some on s-20 worms Amber caught all hers on "the worm". We fished mostly in or near strong current, throwing the jigs in the edge of current, and worms in the eddies.....
      City: Tracy

Tips: Wear a waterproof outer jacket before a long run in the morning, even if your all bundled up and warm with your thick coat or carhart suit on, or what ever ,the dewpoint in the morning is very high or especially this time of year the fog. Either will completely soak you in a matter of minutes and you don't even realize it until your cold and wet....now miserable....and possibly getting hypothermic...been there done that....being bad or tough is only in your mind, your body is human and mother nature will remind you of that reak quick...........

Report: Fished ABA NorCal Region Opener on Berryessa. We caught a 8.72lb (10th place)limit on a variety of techniques. We worked on a single pattern: reaction baits on weedlines followed up with a carolina Brushhog on a rocky point. We used a shad colored crank on weedlines and caught 4 fish. We ripped one 2.52lb Smallie on top of sparse weeds. The conditions were: post front with a north wind, and bluebird skies. We stuck to the weed pattern discovered by our friend John Z. about four weeks earlier. John's team took 8.90lbs (9th place) by worming points in 8-12 feet, throwing spooks and spinnerbaits. -vernon

Report: Launched with T-dog out of Ladd's on Sunday. Fishing was slow. We did a lot of running around (never launched out of Ladd's before). We were looking for spots for next year's tourney season. Caught 2 dinks on cranks on outside of weedlines. Caught 1-3 3/4#'er on a woym in about 8' of water off a weed line with rocky bank. Not much current flow. Any good spots in the area? Better luck next time, we will fish longer on next trip. Later!
      City: San Jose

Tips: Keep the line wet as much as possible, outside of weed lines seemed to be the best.

Report: Fished the CAST Turkey Shoot Saturday and the Hook Tournament Sunday with Mike R. Caught most fish in Big Break area. On Saturday I stayed away from our primary water and searched for some other fish. Didn't find much. On Sunday we hit some spots that have been holding fish lately, but only got 5 for 13.06#. Some spots had fish and some didn't. The fish we caught were all on the edge of current near seams. We caught one on a blade on a weedline with current, one on a crank bait on the deep outside bend of a slough with moderate current, and three flipping jigs and worms in a protected area near strong current.
      City: Brentwood

Tips: Search current seams and high flow areas with crank baits or blades and pay great attention to the current flows, fish seem to want to move just into the flow or on the edge to feed then pull off to calmer waters.

Report: Got out late tonite but at least an hr on the water is better than nothin, fished in the south Delta (of course) actually went to a new spot that had 1 to 3 ft of water at the bank and 8 feet on the outside of the weedline there was scattered wood ( dry at low tide) on the bank and the tide had started dropping but was already screaming out, it was all I could do to stay put on 24 volts -( time to upgrade) any ways I managed 5 fish with 4 of them keepers and the biggest was 3 + not bad for an hr. Amber managed to stay warm but thats about it.I caught them all on black and blue jigs 1/2 oz -its the only one that would stay on the bottom, I hope this helps someone for this weekends shoot I know its been tough for some, see ya there......Micster
      City: Tracy

Tips: Throw up tight to the bank and slowly slid your bait out in the current, usually right as it enters the current WHAM !! at least tonite it was like that..good luck..
