Report: Fishing was better, but not or me. I saw another two loat tubers get a couple on spinnerbaits in the trees, to about 3 pounds. They were all schooled up on the surace in the middle o the lake, a ish a cast.

Tips: Spinnerbaits and worms in the trees. The best ish I saw caught hit the spinnerbait right at the surace. I tried spinnerbaits, crankbaits, jigs, reapers, and missed and just got bit once.

      Water Temp: 64-66

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Hello everyone. I understand that Calero can be one mother of a tough lake, but right now is not one of them. I am just an average stick, and I don't want to p' anyone off, but fishing aint that hard right now. I've been throwing plastics and traps and hooking fish everywhere. The average depth has been 15-18' for good consistant fish using plastics. I'm talking bottom depth, not weed depth. Trap fishing has been best early on, in shallow water. They want to rip the rod out of your hand. Yee haw!! On Saturday I was out for only a half day and caught at least twenty fish. Yeah, some were dinks but the rest averaged a pound and a half and up to four pounds.
      City: San Jose

Tips: The baitfish are everywhere and they're swimming shallow. Find the baitfish and defined weedlines and throw traps. Find weedlines and a few baitfish and throw plastics. Weightless has been the way to go. Not flukes, brush hogs. Watch out for the idiot skiers. Carry 1 oz. spoons.

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Butch and I fish the Delta Saturday. Started at Ladds and caught a 10 pounder right off the bat. Fish was kinda funny looking though, had these appendages growing from his face and left some real slimmy stuff on the carpet of my boat. Oh yeah, Butch really liked him as was pissed when I threw him back. Any way, we fished our way down south hitting our favorite fall time structure and caught several small keepers. They were really pulling water yesterday and the current was wild down south. Jigs were our main weapons although we caught a couple on a blade. It'll get better and better. Back next weekend and the hunt continues.Oh yeah, did spend the afternoon harrassing some big one under matts with a frog, none caught but lots of movement.
      City: Le Grand

Tips: Jigs, blades and cranks, frogs on the matts.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished the Western Team Roundup last weekend. The bite was somewhat tough, but manageable. We ound the best concentrations o ish around the deeper docks at the south end o the lake. There needed to be at least 12 eet o water at the outside end. Fish were scattered all around the docks in the mornings, and could be caught on rip baits, small cranks, and plastics. As the sun got higher, the ish would suspend under the docks, in the shade. We would then swim shad colored grubs on dart heads to catch them. Be persistant and patient. sometimes many casts were required
      City: Sonora

Tips: 1/8 ounce ire tiger cranks, #7 shad raps, shad colored plastics swam on dart heads.

Report: I apologize for posting this report on this forum as this post is not related to bass fishing. I like fishing/eating crappie and would like to hear from fisherman suggestions on places to go fishing for crappie. I've heard that the delta can be very good, but was never told of an exact place. So, I'd greatly appreaciate any tips anyone share with me. Thanks, Nate

Report: Lanched out of Markley and worked top water through the Narrows. Only had one dink off main point. Located several concentrations of fish in Wrag Canyon however they had a bad case of lock jaw. Working main body, I fond fish at all depths. However, most concentrations were in the 15 to 20 foot rang. Picked up a few keepers splitshottin over humps.
      City: Granite Bay

Tips: Be willing to set on a spot for a while and work it well before moving on. The fish turn on and off freequently this time of year.

Report: Launched @ 7:30am. Fished the buoys and weedlines with plastics rigged many diff. ways. Not even a hit. At 10:15 headed towards the back cove and stopped off at the rocky wall on the left before getting to the coves. Threw a 6in. pump. lizard c-rigged for the first time. Boated a 6.5lbr. My biggest ever. Weighed him, took 4 pix of him, and let him go. Only one dink caught after that. Very slow except for the Big Guy. The fish are certainly getting bigger here. My ave. fish is about 2lbs. now. In a couple years this lake will be a trophy lake if the county keeps the water level up.
      City: San Jose

Tips: Have no clue. I've only been at it for a year. I fish this lake a lot, and still haven't figured it out yet to consistently catch a lot of fish. I do know that I've only caught good fish on plastics and topwater.

Report: Been spending time on Pedro lately, trying to wire it in or the ABA TOC last sat. I'd say it's been real tough, with an occasional ish here & there. Got a real good draw (8th out) ran unempeded rom Fleming to the back o the river. Last week I had our ish or about 8 lbs. and elt good about my chances. Nothing happened or two hours, nor did I see anyone catch a ish. The Lee brothers started accross rom me so I elt coortable being in the area. Finally about 10;30 I caught a dink, next cast caught a 13 1/2 keeper, splitshotting a small lizard. Caught another short ish 30 minutes later, and that's all she wrote or us or the day. Ran into the Lee's down river, who were camped out on a slide area, said they had 4 ish. They appeared to be ishing pastics deep. Saw a team boat a 3lb, thowing a jig, bro/green. 129 teams, only 69 teams weighed in at least one ish. The word is the tournament winner had 18+ lbs, while ishing behind another boat in Moccassin, catching suspended ish, somehow, I don't know?

      Water Temp: ??

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Oh, yeah -- just a couple of things to add to my report from Sunday night: I did get a couple of additional strikes, beyond the 2 fish I caught, but what I forgot to mention is that almost every one came after I *STOPPED* the lure. The first hookup occurred when I took my eyes off the bait to look down at the mosquitos that were swarming around my legs. All of a sudden, I heard the splash, & my rod loaded up, pretty much all by itself. I wasn't paying attention. Just goes to show, sometimes the BEST lure action is NO action at all! After that, I began stopping it on purpose, resisting the urge to keep it moving. That's when I started getting more strikes. The action didn't really start 'til 15-20 minutes after the sun was over the horizon, too. That means that any BOATS would've had to be off the water by then, thereby missing this brief surge of activity. Ain't it a DRAG that these south bay parks kick us off just as the best bite of the day starts kicking IN?!!!
      City: san jose

Tips: Try dead-sticking your baits sometimes. It may be just what's needed to trigger those strikes you're not getting!

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished from shore near the dam for the last two hours of daylight on Sunday. Lots of baitfish activity around the abundant shoreline weeds. Caught 2, to 1.5 lbs., on my old stand-by chrome/blue Chug Bug.
      City: san jose

Tips: Topwater, or maybe a weightless, soft plastic jerkbait, tossed around the shoreline weeds, early & late in the day.

Report: Man am I in a funk or what! Fished Calero both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday I took the boat out and fished hard for 6 hours. I pitched jigs in what little cover I could find, worked flukes on the weedlines, threw reaction baits all over the place and drown worms in 10, 20 and 30 feet of water. NO BITES! Sunday launched in my float tube. Spent most of the morning between the dams and only had one bite on a borrowed purple power lizard. Friends Jerry and Leonard had better days. Leonard lost a nice fish and caught several 2 pounders. I don't think my poor effort has much reflection on the fish activity. I think fish can be caught but my planets were out of whack or something.
