Report: Launched out of B & W resort to catch the out going tide. Fish around Franks Tract and part of Potato slough. Best 5 went about 12 pounds. All were caught on a Bill Norman crankbait (shad color). Couldn't get the jig or plastic bite to go at all. All in all it was a beautiful day on the water.
      City: Suisun

Tips: concentrate on the 10ft water range. It worked for me.

      Water Temp: 69-73

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I started in white slough throwing topwater about 6:30am this morning. The bite was crazy for about 20 minutes using a white frog in open water next to thick tule clumps on the north side. I caught two nice 3 pounders and couple of dinks, most of fish were missing the bait and I would pitch a brown and orange reaper back in to catch them. The topwater bite shut off after the sun was up for about 45 minutes. I switched to a jig, then a crankbait and only caught two small fish in about an hour. I picked up and ran over to five fingers and switched over to a BUMP or a waffle reaper fishing it around wood in deeper water with no action for about 20 minutes. I got around to the south end and the tide was cooking over the last point with wood on it, I flipped out on the end of the longest log and THUMP[the best feeling bite all year for me]. I set the hook and fought out a nice 5 or 6 pounder. Well I cant tell you for sure how big she was because she came undone at the boat. Has anybody else been having trouble with bigger fish coming off or is it just me? Well anyway the rest of the day was slow just a few dinks. FISH ON ! The BIG DOG

Report: Fished the Hook team tourney on Sunday. Beautiful, warm day. My first team event (only other tourney was a Pro Am). Struggled to find keepers (weighed in one fish). What the heck was I doing wrong? Searched with buzzbaits, cranks, & blades. Fished Big Break, Dutch, & Taylor primarily. Couldn't buy a good bite. Enjoyed the day on the water. Look forward to hearing how others did. Send help by next tourney!!

Tips: Spend alot more time on the water.

      Water Temp: 70s

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Hadn't been out to Calero on my kickboat in awhile. The wind was tolerable, but lots of boats (one with an a-hole wakeboarder who doused me from behind with a wall of water -- DICKHEAD!!!). Caught a few dinks on a shad-pattern jerkbait & a Deep Little N crankbait, then 3 solid keepers (1-1/2 to 2 lbs.) on a Carolina rig. The fish weren't BIG, but they fought pretty hard! Hadn't used a plain ol' Zoom lizard in awhile ('mossy pumpkin'); I've been using all these newer, latest/greatest, fancy baits of late. However, the old tried-&-true lizard seemed to be the ticket on Sunday. I caught one add'l C-rig fish on a Berkley Pulse Worm in Red Shad finish. No takers on topwater, although the birds were dive-bombing all around me, coming up with little silvery treats hanging from their bills. Head on for that Fall feeding frenzy! (2-day *Clear Lake* float tube tourney with 'Bass-n-Tubes' & the Sonoma County Bellyboat Bass Club is coming up on Oct. 23-24. Call John Lake - 408-263-6174 for details).
      City: san jose

Tips: shad patterns shallow, or soft plastics in 15-30 ft.

Report: Seco and I fished (if you can call it that) The Hook Tourney this weekend. It was a very tuff bite and we struggled. We did get two 2 pounders on crank baits before 8am and then struggled for the next 4 hours without a bite. Our confidence falling we pulled up to a spot and immediately had a 3 pounder on. Allright! 10 Minutes later a 3+ on and our hopes of a limit was back on. Then we nailed a squeeker a few minute later and a huge 7+ pounder followed it up. Damn we get that fish We have a shot at top 10. Then like someone threw a switch the wind hit HARD! I dont think I ever saw it blow that hard within minutes and not stop. Our calm spot was now a 4 foot white cap mess. My trolling motor on full blast could barely keep up. Damn! Our finess bite toast we tried in vain to catch with crank baits. NO dice. I pointed the bow into the wind told Seco to hold on fish hard and I put down my rod and focused on keeping us alive while Seco fished. He nailed a nice fish but we couldn't keep the boat where we wanted. 2 1/2 hours later I was exausted and my right leg was in a knot. We tried other areas but that was the end of our day.

      Water Temp: ??

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Fished the Hook Tournament on Sunday with Mike R. This is a great low cost series. See The Hook web page for details. Best 7 fish went 19.41 with a 5.1 kicker that Mike caught on a black/blue jig. No topwater bite. Fish were on flats adjacent to current in 3-5 ft of water. We stuck with the flooded Islands (Big Break, Sherman Lake, and Frank's Tract). Most fish came on blades fished slow or the jig. We had about 12 fish and 15 bites for the day. It was a tough day. Fish seemed to be schooled. When we found fish we would get 2 or more out of each location.
      City: Brentwood

Tips: Search with blades or cranks and when you get a fish slow down and work the area thoroughly. Color did not seem to be critical. Use colors that work for the water clarity you are working. White or chartruse in dingy water and bait fish colors in clearer waters.

Report: Water level dropping and lots o baitish present. Caught a couple nice 2 lbers on Sammy around let over weedlines. When sun was up started ish steep blus with a 1/8 oz darthead and 4" blue shad worm. Caught a couple more 2 lbers and 7-8 lb catish. Started lipping some allen brush and trees near deep water and hooked up with a couple more 2-3 lbers. Graphed lots o ish activity and baitish and tried spooning but only caught a squawish on the spoon.
      City: Livermore

Tips: 4" worms, dartheads and brown jigs with purple trailers. Steep banks as thh water level is dropping and with all the abitish the ish seemed to be suspending. Also lip wood and shade.

Report: Tubed the backlakes again with a buddy who likes to reer to himsel as "Legend"...(Legend in his own mind, maybe.) Guess what, "Legend" got skunked. I managed to catch 13, biggest went 2.11 on the scale. Used topwater early (Pop-R & Tournament Frog), plastics ater the sun came up. Considering I went the day beore and only caught one, it was a great day.
