Report: Fished a club tournament on 9-18-99. The bite was really slow for everyone. Most fish were caught at 25'-30' deep using shad pattern worms or white grubs. I caught 1 using a carolina rigged green tube bait. Largest fish was only 2.5 lbs among 28 anglers. Most fish average 1.5 lbs.
      City: Rohnert Park

Tips: Go deep around rocky points. Fish are feeding on small 1"-2" shad. Fish really slow and be patient. Match the hatch.

Report: Spent our days last week ishing Lake Shasta or the WCB Pro-Am. September has always been a tough time on this lake or most anglers. This week was no dierent. I spent the irst day in the McCloud arm searching or bait. Only could ind very small balls in the backs o coves. Nothing on the main lake. I ran points and cut's o the main lake or our days catching dinks on 4 & 6" worms, blue ghost & purple ghost. Dart heards or brass-n-glass, didn't matter. Fish were rom 2-30 eet. Also caught ish in these areas with a 3/8 brown smallie jig. I weighed my better ish in the tournament on this bait. We also would look or the ish busting on shad and toss Rico's & poppers. This worked well in practice as the ish seemed to be busting all day long. During the tournament, this bite disappeared or me. Also caught ish on spoons in 30' all over the lake.

The good thing is that with all the small ish I saw we dont have to worry about ish population being to small in the uture.

Report: Fished the 100 Percent tourney at Melones on the 18th. Fishing was tough or most. The ish seem to be into the winter modes. Most productive methods were jigs, plastics, and spoons. Fish were on main lake points in 25 to 60 eet. Did manage a ew on white spinnerbaits, but very unpredictable to pattern. Stick with slow moving bottom baits like jigs, tubes and lizards or the best bet.

Report: I was an observer on Rick Clunn's Boat yesterday at the BASS VT Top 150. It was exciting watching this legendary 4 times Bass Masters Classic Champion fish. It was a very nice day to fish. He caught a lot of fish and brought in 22.2lb of largemouth for weigh-in yesterday. If your are interested to see some of his photos of him fishing I will post it at http://www.fishphotos.com. There is a NCBF member that fished at FOXwoods at Ticonderoga. I don't know his name but you can see him on stage with his NCBF hat. Peace & Tightlines. Bob Koo

Report: Fished Shasta or our days Sept 16,17,18,19.. Preished the irst two days and then ished the WCB Pro Am as a semi pore. My wie and I ished together the irst two days. Started o with three nice keepers ripping the Neon Blue 28 Pointer minnow, caught numerous small ones during the day. I had most o my success over humps and islands in the lake. Robin caugh several keepers on 6" worms and grubs. did this in the McCloud on the 16th. Fished the Pit Arm on the second pre ish day, struggled with small keepers and a ew keepers. Spent most o the day looking around and talking to Cooch!..Tournament day one, my Pro wanted to or us to throw buzzbaits which we did running a couple banks. A ew blowups but not one caught even with trailer hooks attached. Switched to dartheads around 1330 and promptly caught a couple keepers, caught one more keeper beore weighin or a total o three. Worm color didn't seem to matter. Green ghost, lash o blue, R&B, green craw etc. I you ound ish they would bite..Second tournament day, worked Spooks and rip baits.. Slow bite, caught a couple o banks.. Ran some banks with darter heads caught two more small ones. We did catch a lot o little ones.
      City: Redding

Tips: Darter heads in 20-25' any where.. Spoons down to 50', small rip baits over rocks. ind the bait the ish will bite!

Report: Club night tourney rom 6 pm Saturday through 8 am Sunday. Spent the entire night on the McCloud arm working the east bank across rom Holiday Harbor and Lakeview. Caught lots and lots o ish. Topwater bite was o due to winds but got ish on zipper worms, spinnerbaits and crank baits. A suspending at ree shad in a crawdad color worked best or me. Although lots o ish were caught, most were snakey spots under the minimum. I did end up with 2 keeper ish in the livewell - a 14" spot and another spot that was o the board and about 17.5" long. Most ish caught were tight to the bank although some did hit right at the boat. I'm assuming those were ollowers that hit as the crankbait made it's upward track at the end o the retrieve. Worm ish were caught up to 15' deep. Even though we tried much deeper or larger ish, nothing was caught deeper. No idea what my 17.5" actually weighed as we broke down and we were DQed or being late and my ish were back in the lake at 8 am.
      City: Redding

Tips: Find the shad and you'll catch ish. They are continually moving so be prepared to adjust.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Fished on Saturday out of the Hook with Stan Jones. When we arrived the wind was howling, bluebird skies. I told him we might have a tough day but were gonna go give it our best. It was quite a while before we got our first fish, Stan thunked a nice 4+ on a Bump. Then about 15 minutes later he got another one, maybe a little bigger. We then bounced around the Delta looking at different spots and conditions keying on points. The fish were real tight in the cover. Cooch finally got a good keeper on the jig, 8+, she was purty and put a good fight coming out of about 12'. We then got a couple of nice ones on woiyms, S20 & PBJ. Then around 2:30 we started frogging, first point I pull up to, heave that frog way back there on the mat, start chuggin along and here come the roller behind it. It made a little "whap" and missed. I reeled and heaved it back in there, KERWOOOOOSH! tunk, tunk, I think she's got it, couldn't see the frog, it was a big fish, I set and the frog come rippin out and bout smacked me upside the head. Oh well, same ole story for Cooch and his frog, I can find em, just can't catch em. On the way back to the Hook, we stopped on yet another point, cranked a couple and headed home. We boated 9 fish, with the best five around 22-23 pounds.

Report: Fished out of Lundborg Landing last night for about 2 hours. Flipped a little with no luck, one bite that I missed. Tried some frogs and buzz baits as the sun began to set. Had Several missed swirls at both, then just as the sun set I caught a 3+ and a 4+ on the frog. One came off an isolated clump of tules and the other slammed the frog when I hopped it off a mat. Frog bite seems to be coming back on with the warmer weather.
      City: Brentwood

Tips: Give the frog a try as the weather (Hopefully) continues to warm.

Report: Good topwater bite this morning. Fish were up on weedy flats with tules at high tide in 3-4 feet of water. 4 keepers for 11#s and had a HOG take a swipe at a white frog in open water but it didn't take the bait. After topwater bite shut down was only able to locate dinks.
      City: Brentwood

Tips: White buzz bait worked close to tules and weeds worked for me. 3 on the buzz bait and one on a frog.
