Berryessa Lake
-
Water Temp: low 50's
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: I took Saturday to fish at Berryessa this past weekend with a couple of friends. The weather was partly overcast and cold. We managed to catch 7 fish between the three of us in half a day of effort. All fishing was done from the bank. We fished nightcrawlers of all things at a snail's pace, REAL SLOW. Bass were timid and would not strike hard. Average size was 14-15 inches weighing 1 to 1-1/2 lbs. These fish are all pre-spawn and the females were fat with eggs. We caught only one large mouth. The rest were spotted. Can wait for the water to warm a little more buit hopefully not till mid-April, my next big trip up.
City: n/aTips: Tips: Fish slow and deliberate. Bass were not willing to chase any kind fast moving reaction baits.

Water Temp: 51-54
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Fished ABA Pro Team yesterday and found very favorable conditions for a change. Stayed in the North end all day.It didn't matter where, as long as you fished a"point". We caught 25 fish up to 3 lbs., on jigs, carolina rigged hogs, and crank baits.(never went into the "narrows".) Color didn't seem to matter. The fish moved up to feed and get ready to do the "wild thang".
City: San LeandroTips: Tips: The fish were pretty aggressive yesterday, but with this front that just moved in, we start all over again. Downsize and fish slower.

Report: Thunked a nice 5 lb'er on Sunday, on a Carolina-rigged zipper worm -- about 20 yards & 10 minutes away from going home SKUNKED again on a terribly windy, not-much-fun day on the water! Amazing how my attitude changed with that one fish! Got out there a little late, around 2 p.m. After battling the wind all afternoon, trying to find a patch where the big boys would be hanging off the wind-driven currents, it wasn't until I came across the small inlet to the left of the launch ramp -- with the ranger hovering with watchful eye, watching the sun go down as I'm paddling in -- that my bait got SLAMMED with a terrific hit, in about 6-8 feet of water! Thanks, Paul Mibach ('FIT'), for your custom-poured, electric-blue 'FIT Plastics' zipster worm! I'll forward the photo once I get it developed, for your promo files! Tight Lines!

Report: Killed em again on the 5th. After a slow start in the morning. Low tides, cold water and cold weather. I knocked out over 20 keepers to 4 pounds mostly on crankbaits and spinnerbaits. The fish are there and on the grab when the water warms up. All fish were caught in Big Break.

Water Temp: 55-60
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Water temperature varies on the Delta right now with the North, central and west Delta hovering around 55-57 degrees. There are reports that some areas in the south tip the 62 degree mark. The full moon of the last week drew the bucks to the bank. 30 fish days were the norm on cranks, jigs, brushhogs and spinnerbaits. Not to many fish over 3 pounds, but a lot of fun catching numbers. Seems the bigger fish were right behind them, they tend to hang out a little deeper and are tougher to catch. You can fish for these fish all day long and not get many bites, but when ya do, it'll be a good one. Slow rolling white spinnerbaits and jigs in that 8-15' range, way off the bank seems to work best. We saw a drastic temperature drop this week and fishing has slowed some coming into this weekend. We should continue to have outstanding fishing for the next 3 weeks as long as we don't get any major cold fronts like this last week. The water temperature should be just right come the end of the month when the full moon hits, which should put our first wave of fish on the beds.
City: OakleyTips: Tips: Nothing less, than 20# test! You want a pig, fish with a jig! To avoid that blank, toss a fire green crank!
