Report: Fun day. Started at the launch ramp on the trolling motor and had 7 fish in the boat before I ever cranked the big motor. All nice 1.5 2.5lb Bass. Decided to move around the lake and check out some new spots. Caught 16 more fish for a total of 23 for the day. Half were very nice fish. The other half were small. The bigger fish were in 20-30 ft of water near rock. Smaller fish were up shallow in less than 5ft in areas with vegitation. All but 2 were caught on soft plastics. Got 2 small cank bait fish.
      City: Foster City

Tips: Fish were shallow and deep. Fast action was shallow. Slower veritcal fishing was required for the bigger fish. Carolina rigged soft plastics and football head grubs worked for me. Saw a guy in a tube that was doing faily well drop shot fishing.

Report: Fished Tuesday & Wednesday and caught many bass. Unortunately, most were about 11 to 13 inches. Either the big ones were not there or they just plain aren't interested in my jig. Going back on Friday.
      City: San Jose

Tips: Plastics in about 12 to 20 eet o water. Make sure to bring lots o tackle or ish super weedless lures. Lots o snags in this lake.

Report: You can't keep the Coho in Berryessa, only at Almador. JD posted a great resource if you're interested in going for landlocked fish: http://www.fishwithjd.com/2011/06/09/getting-to-know-californias-landlocked-salmon/

Also, I don't want to kill your enthusiasm, but I've fished Berryessa many times and have never caught a Coho. Plenty of bass, trout, and the occasional kok to be had so you may wanna target these species. Heading up this weekend for a two nighter. Fishing from the shore, will keep you all posted on my luck.

These past two weekends I found that trolling was the way to go to get any results. The lures that seemed to work best were "Speed Trap" which dive from 6 to 8 feet and "Norman" which dive from 4 to 6 feet in approximately fifteen feet of water. My son and I fished this past Friday and he landed a nice bass using brass and glass and a senco worm. Jory was fishing for cats from the shore and landed a nice 12+ lber using chicken livers. My wife landed a 2.5 lb bass while trolling (see photo). Hoping that the top water bite kicks in soon. Hope to report more next week. 'til then...................................................good fishing!!!!

Report: hit the water around 730 am. launched from cappel and headed up north, first stop was just south of the big island on. we found fish right away and ended up with about 4 fish to 4lbs there. after working this area well we headed to putah and went to the back and started fishing. for us this was a mistake for 2 hrs we could not catch a fish so we decided to head back towards the mouth of this creek and thats where we found the fish.

we ended the day with 15 fish and the best 5 were around 14 lbs. i finally got the fish to eat a jig, however most fish were on a dropshot with green pumpkin being the ticket.

Tips: fish areas well, we caught fish from 3 feet to 30 feet and if you see a fish on the meter stay with em till you catch em, more than half of my fish i saw on the graph and was able to a catch with a little effort. no rip bait or swimbait fish for me today i stuck with the plastics for the most part although my buddy did get a couple on a crankbait.

water temps are fairly stable and i think by the end of the month berryessa will be the spot to be.

Report: Hey Nate, just some info, the birds and and turtles were probably a casualty of the algae bloom. It can contain plytoplankton (sorry for my possible miss spelling) which can be toxic and harmful to animals and humans if injested. I surf in Santa Cruz and see it every year during whats called a Red Tide. Good fishing to all.

Report: i love berryessa- it's beautiful and a great place to fish. Unfortunetly, i haven't been there since about August and my mom or my friend's mom just don't want to drive that far anymore and i can never talk them into it.i know im missing out on some quality bass and bluegill fishing at my favorite spots at oak shores and pope creek, but heres my point: considering water temperature, has anyone had good luck with bluegill recently??
      City: el cerrito

Tips: Any advice greatly appreciated- am i really missing out on some great fishing by not going? Or is it just not worth the 70-mile drive?
