Found a concentration of fish behind big Island, on the flats and coves way in the back. Even site fished a few smallies. Only saw small males largemouth on beds, no toads. We developed a pattern early after going 0 vs. 0 for our first hour throwing reaction baits. Splitshjotting 4" worms caught over twenty keepers,,all males.

Tips: Fish still seem to be getting ready for another spawn. Should be awsome this week when the wind calms down......

Report: On the water in Pleasure Cove at 6:30AM. Ran to the power lines at the west side of Wragg Canyon. Three fish for three casts first thing; two smallies and on spot to t.5lbs Continued south along west side of Wragg with many fish, some up to three pounds. Moved to the large cove west of Wragg for more great fishing.Of the water at three after boating and weighingin my lake best. 11.9lbs large mouth!! Took her to the store at Pleasure cove in hopes of a scale;no luck at the store, but a fellow bass fisherman permitted me to use his scale. After weighing, we returned her to where she was caught and released her. We finished the day with over 50 fish boated and released. Fantastic day on the B.
      City: Woodland,CA

Tips: We had the best luck split-shotting 4" morning dawn worms and cotton candy lizards. Most of the fish were on the north side of coves along mud banks. The large fish was caught on a six inch cotton candy lizard in about 18 feet of water. Most of the larger fish were very subtle in their pickups; just a pressure bite.

      Water Temp: 54 to 62

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Got a late start(9:00), and fished till 1:30. Put 10 keepers in the boat with the biggest going a little over 3 lbs. Fish are on secondary points ready to move in to spawn. Did find a couple of bed fish but points were easier to fish and I'm not that hot on bed fishing anyway. Jigs, baby brush hogs and worms all worked with the better fish on jigs.

      Water Temp: 58-60 degrees

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished Berryessa on Tuesday and caught 9 Bass, all largemouths and spots. The fish varied between 1-4#, with the largest a 4.2# largemouth. The Bass have definately moved into the shallows with the prespawn at its peak. All the fish came on watermelon colored centepedes in about 3'- 10' of water with a split sot rig during the afternoon. They really are hitting just about any plastic right now and I would suggest trying the lake out soon. I fished the coves around Marina resort by shore and I saw a number of big Largemouths seeking out beds. Remember it is very important if your are not in a tournament to let the fish go right where you catch them in order to not disturb their spawning pattern. I'm heading back up today to try for some crappie and salmon. I don't really know what depth either fish are at right now, hopefully someone can help me out. I was thinking of trying the capell cove area. Thanks for any info.
      City: SF

Tips: If you are not fishing cover, use as light as line as possible (6# test) and make sure to try dark colored plastics (eg. June Bug, watermelon, and brown). My favorite plastics for this time are $" predetor centepedes and Watermelon W/ red glitter 4" Berkely Power Worms. Almost the entire lake will be holding bass in 1'-5' of water from now untill late May. Good Luck and hopefully there will be some big numbers posted on the sight in the comming weeks.

Report: Fished $$ 4 Bass tourney Sat.Fish were still in transition, it appears.Friends and fellow club members, Jim Yu and Joe Kopp, won it with 14+ lbs for five fish. They had a 6.43 kicker. All caught on crankbaits, on the main lake. We ripped two fish early, lost several more who couldn't stay hooked. Jigged a couple more on the main lake, then caught two more splitshotting. No bed fish yet, coming storm should hold the fish off even longer.
      City: San Leandro,Ca.

Tips: Wish we could have found the crank fish my friends found. We weighed in 9.49 lbs for 7th place.........

Report: Got on the water at dawn, cloudy,no rain, water temp mostly 54'....Started up Putah Creek.Caught two fish on two casts rippen. One was 2lb +. Rip bite ended soon after. Found another spot which produced a 3lbr. on a Rainbow 99,darter head worm. Caught four more fish during the day dropshotting 3" worms on broken rock banks, in 20 ft.Had around 10 lbs for best five.Real excited about ABA tourney on Sunday. Had front pass through sat. night, then temp dropped to 35 degrees. Very chilly in the morning.Start spot produced two dropshot fish, then the bite quit for us.We only managed a small limit,(7.42) the rest of the day dropshotting, slow. Had several bites, but the fish wouldn't hold on to the bait.Water temp dropped two degrees during the night.Oh well, better luck next time...

Tips: Storm fronts and cold weather changed the bite,,,,not to mention bluebird sky......

Report: The three of us Fished from sunup till 2:00 without seeing even one BASS of any breed. Tried plastics, crankbaits, jigs, even tried Drop Shot for a while. We hit the banks, rock walls, some points, dropoffs and some deeper stuff. We tried Spinner bait, even a popper and a buzz bait. It was pretty cold and a little windy but we were kind of disappointed not to land anything. Tourney fisherman we saw said he did well in the shallows. Go figure ~ Better luck next time!

      Water Temp: ?

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Another brutal weekend on Berryessa. Fished hard both Sat. and Sun. Between my buddy and I, boated 3 dink smallmouth's, 2 1 lb. Largemouths and 1 2 lb. Rainbow. We tried everything for the bass, until ultimately went on the troll with shad raps and picked up all of the fish of the weekend. Steep rocks seemed to be the best scenario. We saw the fish, they just didn't want to hit, pretty frustrating. On a lighter note, we picked up the trout (and lost another) while trolling shallow for bass, so maybe the lake's turning over?
      City: San Francisco

Tips: Still looking for that breakthrough day on Berryessa. Maybe try in Feb-March??? Maybe try Clear Lake???

      Water Temp: 75

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Well Berryessa is a tough lake to fish this time of year. Only managed about 8 or 9 fish over the weekend. A mixture of small and large mouth mostly on small cranks. Yellow seemed to be the color. Probably should have forced myself to fish DEEP but my buddy did manage two fish on one crank, both a smallie and a large mouth at the same time.

Tips: Guess you gotta go real deep.

      Water Temp: 73-75

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished club tournament Saturday. Started throwing topwater near dam area with nothing happening on buzzbaits, spooks, ricos. One small bite on a senko, but no fish. We worked our way to the main body and by 11 am had one short smallmouth on a dropshot in 18 ft of water. Started splitshotting in 35-50 feet of water. On a steep rocky bank, we finally got into some fish from noon till 3 pm. I got 4 keeper spots (6.06 lbs) and 3 more short fish. Partner got 3 keepers, one on a brass/glass worm and 2 dropshotting. Winning individual wt was over 9 lbs for 4 fish caught on cranks in north lake near weeds. One topwater fish caught,(big fish 4lbs) first thing, but the angler never caught another fish all day.
      City: Yuba City

Tips: If I were heading back, I would drag splitshot # 39 magic worms along steep rocks in narrows in 35-50 ft. No BS here, just the facts! Phil

Report: fished on sunday and the fish were biting. It really did not matter what you throw out they would hit anything. Get out early in the morning to avoid boat traffic.

      Water Temp: 73-74

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Took out 3 buddies from work on friday late afternoon, launched out of Markley cove. We headed for Capel cove, I told one guy to use a 7'' powerworm in pumpkinseed and the other guy to use a 1/4 oz Duh jig spring moss the new color and I myself would use the 1/4oz duh jig in the old spring moss color. Well I made the first hook up with a 1.5 largie and made the second hookup with a 2.8 channel cat, my buddy in the back hooked up with a nice 2.0 largie but it seemed to be no good for my other friend who was using the new color duh spring moss so he switched to the powerworm but had no success with that either. I could tell he wasn't to happy with himself so I watch the way he was jigging the worm and the duh jig and had him change his style of fishing, I told him to jig 2 or 3 times then drag it slow then pause as he was doing that he then started to hookup with fish. Well we all fished until 5:00 the next morning and ended up with a whole lot of lost fish but caught 65 bass and 3 catfish on jigs and worms.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished the last qualifing tournament for WON BASS vineyard circuit today. We ended up with 9.93lbs(5 fish). It was good enough for 9th place and a trip to the tri-state in October. We started out throwing topwater(spook & rico). Had a limit by 7am with one 2.75lb smallmouth and another big fish lost on the spook. Switch to senko and culled two fish. Fished all north end. All the fish were post spawn and skinny. Caught 30+ keepers(12"+) but all but five were under 1.5lbs.
      City: Petaluma

Tips: Morning topwater is excellent right now. Throw spook for bigger but fewer fish or rico/popper for smaller but more fish. After the topwater bite, worm or throw a senko. Fish mudlines in the afternoon with blades/crankbaits. Most fish are post spawn and moving/moved to summer areas.

      Water Temp: 70-75

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished tuesday (overcast and windy), wed and thurs (clear and calm) ) with my 2 kids (9 & 11). Tues and Wed were killer days, with over 30 fish between the 3 of us. Mostly spots up to 3 lbs, and several large and smallies, up to 2 1/2 lbs. Lost a 4-5 lb smallie at the net,on a pop-r. Caught all the fish in the narrows and Wraggs, from 3-20 ft of water. Caught most of the fish on 5" senkos and drop shotting 4" brown worms with flourescent tails. Fish were spitting up crawdads and 3" power craws worked well, carolina rigged. Decent topwater bite in last 1/2 hr of daylight. Thanks to Rich Thiel for the tip! Topwater was in back of coves. For some reason Thursday was the toughest day, with the overcast and clear skies following day the best. Couldn't believe how many rude water skiers present during midweek, esp in late pm. I think I'll stick to fishing Berryesa during March/April when there are fewer water skiers.
      City: clayton

Tips: Bite died after 1030 am and picked up again after 6 pm.
