Report: I have been fishing all species of fish since the early age of 5(now in my late 30's) and consider myself a pretty seasoned fisherman. I mostly fish bass in the Delta but like to chase down trout every now and then. Now that I'm living in San Mateo I thought I'd give Quarry lakes at try. I've fished this lake three times now out of my 12 foot aluminum and have been skunked all three times. I see shore fisherman with full stringers but they appear to be using 5-6 fishing poles at a time. What a bunch of bull that is. Aren't there any park rangers here? These douchebag fisherman probably aren't even paying any permit fees. Here I am paying 20 dollars a pop to fill there stringers and I can't even get a bite. For now, I think I will give up on this lake unless someone can convince me otherwise. Just had to vent.

Tips: Shore fish with 6 rods?

Report: I wouldn't say people don't fish rainbow for bass, because the last time I was out there, there was trash EVERYWHERE. I don't know HOW many stupid mcdonalds/taco bell/wendys/albertson's bags I had to pick up. A bunch of irresponsible fishermen who leave their trash lying around really gets me going. I don't think I'll be back out there in quite some time since fishing has been pretty poor for me as well, despite what the employees say.

Report: Josh...let's start with trout. Light line 4lb. 18"-24" leader, sliding sinker and 10-12 egg hooks and power eggs (Chartreuse or white). Place a bobber on a swivel between your line guides. After the bobber settles down from taking out all the slack, any change i.e. like bumps or rises or falls take the bobber off the line and set the hook. Try and avoid the crowds around the docks etc. When I soak bait I stay in an area for a 1/2 hour, no hits move on.
      City: San Jose

Tips: Any decent sporting good shop should be able to help you out.
