Report: Saturday, 8/18/12, there was a nice breeze on the main body making the hot air temperature somewhat bearable. We started fishing on the East side near the dam with only one boil up on a buzz bait. It didn’t take very long until the skiers drove us to move further up the lake. By noon, we had 6 fish using a small top-water popper. All were caught near some weeds or a tree with some shadows on the water nearby. A couple of times, several fish attacked the popper at the same time. Just after noon we moved into Cherry Creek and caught a couple more fish on the popper. But it didn’t take us very long to move back to the main body because the lack of a breeze back there made it feel like an oven. The top water bite had turned off so we junk fished the rest of the day. A couple of fish were caught drop-shotting a RoboWorm. Also, one fish each was caught on a River2Sea S-Wave, a Senko and a Bass Assassin. We ended the day with 14 fish. The fish were in the 1 to 2 lb. range with one weighting 3 lbs 8 oz.
      City: Pinole

Tips: If it is possible for you to get to the lake very early, you should be very successful fishing using top water baits before the sun hits the water. Similarly, if you can stay late, you should also be very successful as the sun leaves the water and later.

      Water Temp: 78-80

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: It's been a while since I posted on here, I haven't had internet in a while. Had a good day on the Delta last Friday. Launched the Allison out of B&W and motored out to Whiskey. It was nice to go top end on the main channel, but the bass trackers were everywhere making me have to slow down in the sloughs. Pulled in a 5-6lb in whiskey on my second cast using a custom poured creature on a shakey head. After a few more like that I headed up to the stockton boat club and pulled 8 more keepers. After that it was time to get off the water at noon.
      City: Delta

Tips: Have some fishing etiquette. If you are fishing and somebody in a bass boat that is pre-fishing a tournament comes up on you and waves you off a spot, move along and give them the spot (i'm trying to make some money). Also, stop giving guys who pull their boat out and wipe it down on the ramp a hard time. Those of us who have nice boats want to keep them looking nice. Just have some patience and wait a little bit to put your boat in the water. Come on guys a little etiquette goes a long way.

Report: MARK - I am saddened to hear you are not going to post more reports. You are one of the guys that fishes the lake consistently and you have the best, legit, information. SCREW those tourney guys that are upset you are posting info about the fishing at a quality lake. Perhaps they should sharpen their skills and FISH instead of worrying about who may know the current pattern. If you fish this lake enough (25 years for me) the patterns are similar year to year. You just alert us to where they are at the moment. Please email me so we can stay in touch. I enjoy reaching out to you about the pattern or status when i'm making a drive up for a few days to my favorite lake.
      City: Pacific Grove

Tips: Keep Reporting, please. I love your jigs by the way... i get them at that gas station in Madera. They always produce for me.

Report: Left from B&W running down San Joaqin river past Prisoner Point turning into ski sloughs. Caught several small fish using red color lures such as crank baits and spinner baits along rocks and weed lines.. Big fish around 7lbs came from top water frog lure in watermelon color.

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Went out to the main channel and did some evening/night fishing. On the water about 6:00pm. Caught a bunch on small stripers and 1-2.5 lb bass off spook and gunfish. Lots of hits came on spinnerbait and crankbaits. My buddy caught a kicker bass at 6lb 6oz at 1:30 am. WOW! Fished rip rap banks and submerged weeds adjacent to rip rap. Lots and lots of shad and baitfish in the system. Off the water 2:00am.
      City: Stockton

Tips: Fish deeper rip rap banks next to current. Weeds is a plus. Fish are keying on baitfish so use spinnerbaits and crankbaits and baitfish type lures. Water is muddy and lots of algae so use chartreuse colored baits.

      Water Temp: 85-86

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: This is the tale of two "Clear Lake's," - one good and one not so good! Mike Sperbeck and I fished the past 2 Friday evenings and found feast and famine! A week ago the fishing was great for us with about 25 in the boat. The best 5 were almost 26 lbs during a 6 1/2 hr trip. Last Fri the heat spell was in full force and the bass weren't real happy about it. We did manage an 18 lb limit, but big fish was only 4 1/2 lbs and the bites were few. Mike is fishing an upcoming tournament so I am bound to silence as to what, where, and how!!
      City: Yuba City

Tips: The water is ugly in places and fairly clear in others. We saw some silversides - finally! They looked to be all of an inch long - very small!! The bass are eating something - they look in great shape!

Report: Caught a 5# largemouth yesterday in 1/2 day of fishing in the middle of the lake on the south end over 30' of water on a Spook. I was following where a sea gull was chasing baitfish. Fish hit 2 pulls of bait after splashdown on my 1st cast with the topwater. Only had one other bite. Landed 3 on Thursday up to 2.75#. Biggest on the Spook, a 1.5# on a huge worm shallow in the weeds, and a dink on a crankbait. Had 2 other blowups on the Spook and another miss on the crank.

Tips: Not many fishing for bass but guys trolling 15' deep in Heron Bay reportedly pulled in 15-20 smallmouth.

Report: on the water at 4:30am off at 9:30am. Looking for that early reaction bite. 2nd fish was a 3.5 spot on a modified black buzzbait. Caught 6 more in the first hour all weighable spots.Fished steep chunk rock keying on projections, points, and sides of points. Would not eat spooks, blades or rip baits. Found alot of bait and suspended fish on the side of points and no they would not eat an A-Rig. All buzzbaits.
      City: Norcal

Tips: Stay on the chunk rock and then run shade. Get on the water in the dark and get off early.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: The past two weekends have been very productive at the lake. The weather has been perfect and the fishing has been great. After going through a spell of catching bass under twelve inches this past weekend we landed some really nice size bass (see photos). My son Henry caught a 7.5 pound largemouth bass on a spinner bait going against the weed line. Not five minutes later his wife Sarah landed a 6 pound largemouth bass using brass and glass with a five inch senko worm. Both of these fish were caught in about four feet of water. My daughter Helene joined us later in the afternoon and within a twenty minute period she had landed three nice size bass. Not to be left out my wife caught a good size small mouth bass and a nice trout. It was my son's birthday weekend and we all had a good time on the water. On Monday I took Darren out for the day. I headed towards the Narrows and we fished the east side of the lake. The most enjoyable fishing for me is topwater and we were able to throw into a boil of feeding fish and get hit hard in their feeding frenzy. We went into the back of the ranch house cove and with my new pair of Hobie polarized sunglasses I was able to clearly see into the water and see the structure and fish luring in the shadows. We fished our way to the vineyards and I showed him my hot spots there. We headed back fishing the west side to Capell Cove and ended the day in that area.
      'til next week.........................................................................good fishing!!!

Report: Slow fishing. Muddy water due to traffic and wind. 2 sinks and a 3 lb LM. Very little activity on the surface. Lake seems dead for past two weeks. Water has dropped at least 4 feet from two weeks ago. Hopefully there will be enough water for the fall bite.
      City: Fairfield

Tips: Fish your strengths. Drop shot in deep water is not mine.

      Water Temp: 78-81

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Troys report is pretty much dead on. The bite is not wide open but if you cover enough water you will find fish willing to bite. Friday fished from lakeport to shag, I had 7 fish mostly junk fishing biggest 4 lbs on a buzzbait. With the front coming in the next day I decided to stick with mostly topwater and had a much better day 11 fish alltogether, biggest 6.5 lbs on the buzzbait again and the frog bite was real good catching 6 of the 11 fish for the day.5 biggest in at 21 lbs.
      City: Winters

Tips: Cover as much water as possible the fish are holding in small areas and sticking once you find them. I used the buzzbait to cover water and find fish then worked the area with the frog then later in the day returned with a punching rig for a few more.
